Im just venting here, I know most of you don’t even know what baseball is……..

So I play fantasy baseball, I do pretty well with it. Im in 1st place right now, the guy in 2nd is right on my ass though. He made some bullshit trade with the guy in 7th, where basically 7th place gave 2nd place his best two players for nobodies. That shit is gonna probably cost me the title and a lot of money.

Hmm, I see. . .

If I had to do a top 5 off the top of my head, it would go something like (in no particular order):

Spartacus (seasons 1 and 1.5, not so much season 2)
Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Dexter
Homeland

But with that said, there are several shows that have been critically acclaimed that I either haven't seen or have only seen one or two episodes, including The Sopranos, Lost, Deadwood, The Wire and 24.

Spartacus is pretty shitty IMO. It is similar to True Blood for me, it is enjoyable in that it entertains, but not a great show in the grand scheme.

I tried Deadwood, but couldn't get into it. Never seen Homeland. I have heard good things about Friday Night Lights too... that and The Wire, are the two that I haven't seen but definitely will.

Homeland is good. I would recommend it.

I'll just say that I was really into Spartacus's story and I thought he played the character pretty straight. When tragedy struck, I didn't think I was supposed to be laughing or anything.

That's how I felt, but I have only seen a couple episodes. I will get back around to it eventually, maybe even next. I definitely don't take critical assessments as gospel, and they vary wildly anyway.

I would call it pulpy. There is a lot of blood and tits and muscley guys walking around. And yes, it's pretty in your face. If you're looking for subtlety then you would need to look elsewhere. It's not serious in the way that Rome is serious, but at the same time I didn't feel like the storyline was something I wasn't supposed to become emotionally invested in.

I will also point out that the first two or three episodes are not the best. You need to at least get to episode four or five before you decide it's not for you.

Personally, I loved it and I know Luke and two other friends of mine also loved it. But then again, yours and my tastes when it comes to cinema have never really been too similar. Though we do apparently both agree that Warrior is a good movie.

After I get caught in guillotines sometimes I try to put myself in that same position so I can work on getting out or passing to the other side so my head is on the opposite side so I can get out in side control..however...sometimes I fail at that and look silly by "making the same mistake again".

I also need to learn to pass guard better..I suck dick at that. I forgot all the guard passes I knew from when I first started training a few years ago and it's annoying.

You only really need 2 guard passes- a smashing one and a stacking one.

My advice, don't try to pass while guillotined, unless you are almost passed already. Defend the choke first, then pass. Of course it will be easier to defend from side control, but if you are moving around a lot, you are giving him space to cinch the choke. Also, you are never going to pass someone decent with your head in that position, so it is not a skill really worthy of practicing (again, the exception being if you are almost passed anyway).

I went to see The Expendables 2 today. Story-wise, it's a pretty generic action movie. But damn it is some good action. And seeing all these guys together kicking ass was undeniably awesome.

But the real story here . . . the REAL story . . . is Van Damme's return to the big screen. Personally, I think it should be like one of those "where were you" moments. Like, "Where were you when Kennedy was shot?" Or, "Where were you when man landed on the moon?"

You can add whatever it made/makes internationally to it (though studios take home a smaller percentage of the international profits than domestic profits).

I also think Nolan is probably done and they'll bring in a new director to carry the franchise forward.

Eh, I would rather see a little break and then reboot in like 2018. The last Batman series was good for 2 movies (Keaton), the rest were terrible IMO. Then they left it alone for about 10 years and tried again. That's how I like it.

It would definitely be a different twist on things, but it just seems to me to be where they're headed with all the talk about Batman being a symbol . . . the man is not important. Though they also talked a lot about the death of Batman and clearly the end of the movie represents the death of the symbol and of the character. So I guess it's a little confusing really and maybe Levitt really will be Robin.

I actually wouldn't mind a new interpretation of the Robin character. I always thought Robin was cool when I was a kid.

Yeah, he's awesome. I like how he went the indie route for a while and made a lot of non-Hollywood movies. If you ever get a chance to see Brick, check it out. It's kind of a weird movie, but worth watching in my opinion.

But I went to this cancer benefit last night, and it was just really apparent that I am getting fucking weird, in a bad way- not in a lovable eccentric way, but in way that makes everyone around you feel awkward. So do you think you can feel yourself becoming a weirdo? I am definitely not crazy though, I have all of my faculties... but Ithink I am losing the ability (more accurately, the desire) to maintain the facade. I think I am on the verge of become a guy that is just way the fuck out there.

Just like my normal self. But I am just more and more awkward in social situations. This was a girl I went to HS with, so it was basically a HS reunion. My wife was just like "WTF is wrong with you, people are trying to talk to you, and you just keep blowing everyone off." I really hate glad handing, schmoozing, and I have a really hard time carrying on conversations when I have no interest. Its like I don't even care to feign interest. I am just like "oh reall, who cares". It isn't like I took my pants off and laid on the couch in a church, I just don't care very much at all about pretending to care about stuff. I am realizing that pretending to care about stuff is really the entire basis of all human interaction. Everyone seems to be in agreement that I am asshole now.

FWIW, I felt really weird in the room (it was a giant room at a country club) with the brain cancer girl in a wheelchair while everyone yucked it up. I was thinking "don't you fuckers know there is imminent death among us?" I was preoccupied with her presence and I thought the whole thing was weird the way they were holding her out as a hero, but no one was talking to her.

I have always been a little bit like this. I have done the whole Office Space thing in interviews in the past where I just can't take all the BS, so I just tell the truth... it really freaks people out btw. But it is starting to take over everything, and I don't even care. I don't even care if something "catastrophic" happens like losing my income. I just think, well, I will just live differently, not the end of the world.

As for the crash I posted, I can see calling it fake if you've only seen movie crashes, but to me it looks all too visceral and real. What are we suggesting here? Obviously the footage is genuine; there are multiple angles. Are we really saying the car lost control on purpose in such a way as to guarantee maximum flippage and at the exact location of the planted HD camera, and also that there were dressed dummies in the car solely for the purpose of ejection? And what about all the after shots of the car and bodies in the video description; there is even a helicopter landing in the road afterwards. Plus there are numerous arabic news reports of the accident. Finally, what is the end goal, exactly? YouTube views?

I have to admit I was not expecting much from a book written by one of those Ultimate Karate guys, but this one really surprised me. I'm on my 2nd read through now and already I have to say David Abbott is my 2nd favorite author, behind Hemingway. In fact, he reminds me of Hemingway in some regards, the way his words are wrapped in the masculinity of a bygone era, yet with true humanity underneath. I'm happy that this is a trilogy and can't wait for the next two books to come out!
