Notes and tips

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have suspended junior guard Glen Rice Jr. indefinitely on Friday, but wouldn’t disclose the reason for the suspension. He will miss Saturday’s game against Virginia Tech. Rice leads the Georgia Tech averaging 13 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. The Yellow Jackets were set as 9-point underdogs as of Friday evening.

The Nashville Predators acquired defenseman Hal Gill from the Montreal Canadiens on Friday. The Predators also received a conditional 2013 draft pick, in exchange for forwards Blake Geoffrion, Robert Slaney and a 2012 second-round pick. Gill has 36 goals and 143 assists in 1,047 regular-season games. The 36-year-old also has 105 games of playoff experience. He can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. The Predators host Chicago Saturday.

Purdue kicked guard Kelsey Barlow off the team and suspended forward D.J. Byrd following an early-morning incident at a bar on Friday. Byrd allegedly assaulted a bouncer at Where Else bar near the Purdue campus and Barlow was kicked out of the bar earlier in the night. Barlow was suspended last season for conduct detrimental to the team just before last year's NCAA tournament, which led to his final dismissal from the squad. Byrd was arrested for public intoxication by Indiana State Police and spent five hours in jail. He will miss Sunday's home game against Michigan State.

The New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates have come to terms on a deal for righthander A.J. Burnett, MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal reported on Friday. The trade, which also includes a pair of prospects heading to the Yankees, will need the approval of Major League Baseball due to the money involved. It is not immediately known the identities of the prospects. Pittsburgh is expected to absorb $13-15 million of the $33 million that the 35-year-old Burnett is owed for the 2012-13 seasons. Burnett posted an 11-11 record with a 5.15 ERA in 32 starts last season. He has recorded a 34-35 mark with a 4.79 ERA since signing a five-year, $82.5 million contract prior to the 2009 campaign.

San Antonio Spurs at Los Angeles Clippers (-3, 192)

The San Antonio Spurs are the antithesis of the Los Angeles Clippers.

While Lob City is splashed all over highlight programs all across the country the Spurs just keep doing the same thing they always do – win games.

The Spurs have won nine straight games, including the first five of their annual Rodeo Road Trip and have gone 7-0-1 against the spread during the surge.

Tony Parker scored 34 points and dished out 14 assists to help San Antonio get out of Toronto with a 113-106 win, pushing as a 7-point favorite.

"Our bench this year in addition to Tony (Parker) playing at the level he's playing and [Tim Duncan's] steadiness, we wouldn't be here without them," coach Gregg Popovich told reporters. "About three or four of them have been magnificent at both ends of the court for us. While Manu (Ginobili) has been out for us that has kept us above water."

The Clippers have been hot and cold lately, so we’ll continue to ride the Spurs.

Atlanta Hawks at Portland Trail Blazers (N/A)

Josh Smith may not be heading to the All-Star Game, but he’s certainly playing like he belongs in the show.

He put up 30 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and three blocks in Atlanta’s 101-99 road win over Phoenix, helping the Hawks narrowly cover as 1-point favorites.

"Josh was just magnificent," Hawks coach Larry Drew told reporters after the game. "He did it all, on both ends of the floor. He gave us the energy we needed to power through and that's all you can ask for on the back end of a back-to-back set like this."

The win snapped a two-game skid for Atlanta, but you have to give the Hawks a long look against Portland. They have covered in six straight matchups with the Blazers.

LaMarcus Aldridge is still questionable with his ankle injury, which is holding up the line for this one.

Whether he plays or not, our initial lean on this one is toward the Hawks.

College funds: Saturday's best NCAAB bets

Marquette Golden Eagles at Connecticut Huskies (-2, 139)

Struggling UConn needs another strong game from freshman center Andre Drummond and junior Alex Oriakhi against undersized Marquette, which has been without 6-foot-11 center Chris Otule (torn ACL) for most of the season.

The Golden Eagles will spread the Huskies out with a 4-out, 1-in motion offense to take advantage of UConn's porous perimeter defense. The Golden Eagles lead the Big East in assists (17.5) and are second in scoring (76.7).

The roles are reversed from last season when it was Buzz Williams’ team that needed a quality win to boost its NCAA Tournament chances. Darius Johnson-Odom scored nine of his 17 points in overtime and Marquette left Hartford with a 74-67 win over then-No. 14 UConn.

Oriahki had 12 points and 15 rebounds.The Golden Eagles have won nine of 10 by using their helter-skelter style to wreak havoc on opponents. Marquette, which is third in the Big East in steals (8.8), scored 25 points off 14 turnovers in Saturday’s win 95-78 win over Cincinnati.

Texas Tech Red Raiders at Kansas Jayhawks (-25.5, 127.5)

Texas Tech traveling to Allen Fieldhouse for a meeting with No. 5 Kansas is just about the most lopsided matchup possible in the Big 12. The Jayhawks, who are tied with No. 3 Missouri atop the conference, are in solid contention for their eighth straight league title.

The Red Raiders, by contrast, picked up their first Big 12 victory a week ago. Texas Tech has seven freshmen on its roster, while Kansas is much more seasoned with senior guard Tyshawn Taylor and junior big man Thomas Robinson, a national player of the year frontrunner, leading the way.

There is no doubt that Robinson is the Jayhawks’ go-to player inside, but 7-footer Jeff Withey has burst onto the scene to help create perhaps the best one-two inside punch in the country.

Withey, a redshirt junior, is averaging 20.3 points, 12.0 rebounds and 6.3 blocks over the past three games since being held scoreless in a loss at Missouri on Feb. 4. Withey has 53 blocks in conference play, which is more than twice as many as any other Big 12 player.

Ice picks: Saturday's best NHL bets

Pittsburgh Penguins at Philadelphia Flyers (-115, 5.5)

When the Philadelphia Flyers are clicking, there aren’t many teams that can keep up with them.

Down 2-0 early in Thursday’s game against the Sabres, they flipped the switch and pumped in seven straight goals in an impressive 7-2 victory.

Claude Giroux led the attack with five assists while Scott Hartnell scored and added three helpers.

"These are the wins that bring us together," Max Talbot told reporters. "We didn't start the way we wanted to. We talked about it between the first and second, and we started to play and never looked back. It's a win that happened at the right time.”

It’s hard to know what you’re going to get from the Flyers, but you’d better believe the Penguins are going to show up for this one.

They were held to just 26 shots on goal in Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to Anaheim and that didn’t sit well with coach Dan Bylsma.

The Pens had scored 12 goals combined in the two games before that, so consider the Anaheim game a pothole.

Minnesota Wild at St. Louis Blues (-250, 5)

The St. Louis Blues have been an under bettor’s best friend this season, checking in below the total 31 times this season.

While they’re still going to be a solid defensive club down the stretch down with Ken Hitchcock’s system, be careful with your under bets moving forward.

Andy McDonald scored his first goal of the campaign in Thursday’s 5-1 blowout of the New York Islanders and his impact is already showing just three games since returning from his concussion. David Perron is just getting going, too. He has 11 goals and 26 points in 33 games since coming back from his own concussion.

"I think it's making plays all over the ice, no matter if you start the play in the D-zone or finish plays at the net, like Andy and I did tonight," Perron told reporters Thursday night. "It's always good to get a guy like Mac back. The skills that he can bring to a team are pretty unbelievable. For myself, it's playing with guys like (T.J.) Oshie and (David Backes) that makes it good."

We may have just seen the beginning of how good this Blues team can be.

Hockey Night In Canada: NHL betting preview

Toronto Maple Leafs at Vancouver Canucks (-180, 5.5)

The two teams that usually anchor Hockey Night in Canada from both the early and late games combine forces this weekend in what could be the ultimate ratings grabber.

Neither team has played since Wednesday night, so they should be fresh and ready to put on a show.

A February makeover

Though there was a brief hiccup last week, it has been a momentum-building for Toronto goaltender James Reimer. It hasn't been the season he and Toronto had hoped for, but he's brimming with confidence as the season turns for home.

He opened the month with three consecutive wins, including two shutouts over Pittsburgh and Ottawa. He's 4-2 in February after making 29 saves in a 4-3 overtime win against Edmonton Wednesday.

In six appearances this month, he's allowed 14 goals and has won over a good portion of Maple Leafs Nation again.

Ryan’s rolling

It seemed dicey at times, as he recovered from offseason hip problems, but Vancouver's pesky power forward Ryan Kesler looks like he's going to land in 20-goal territory again.

He probably won't get to 41 like he did last year, but he's at 18 now, the Canucks are winning at a decent clip, and all seems to be well.

Kesler opened February with four goals in four games, and has six points on the month. He has 17 shots on net this month and, as the team continues to push for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, Kesler is a plus-16 on the season.

If the Canucks are to get back to the Stanley Cup final and forge a different decision than last year, Kesler will be a huge part of it.

Postseason positioning

Depending on how you look at the Eastern Conference playoff race as a Toronto fan, the Maple Leafs have as good a shot to move up as they do down.

The Maple Leafs have been battling to keep a hold of that enviable No. 8 seed. But through Thursday's action, they actually held a three-point lead on Washington for it, and maybe they can start to look ahead of them, rather than behind.

A few more wins and they could be higher up the ladder. Entering Friday's action, head coach Ron Wilson's crew was just four points behind Ottawa and New Jersey, and five points behind Pittsburgh. Perhaps a little run and they can avoid that undesirable matchup against the likely No. 1-seeded New York Rangers.

History

The Canucks have won the last nine meetings between these two teams, dating back to Jan. 10, 2006. They've won three of the last four installments by the same score of 5-3. As such, the over has gone 6-3 in that stretch. Toronto games have gone over in three of the last four tries. Vancouver has won five of the last six overall.

Calgary Flames at Los Angeles Kings (-150, 5.5)

You can't get any more playoff implication-crazy than in Calgary for the HNIC nightcap. The Kings and Flames, jockeying for the eighth and final position in the Western Conference, collide in what will be the 59th game of the season for both teams.

Oh, brother

The storyline may get old, but the competition never does for the Sutter brothers. This will be the third time this season that Los Angeles coach Darryl Sutter will face Calgary coach Brent Sutter, and the results - much to the delight of the family – have been a mixed bag.

On Jan. 14 in Calgary, Dustin Brown and Mike Richards had two points each, and the Kings cruised to a 4-1 win on Hockey Night in Canada. Five days later in Los Angeles, Miikka Kiprusoff made 31 saves and the Flames won 2-1 in a shootout.

Darryl has garnered three points so far. And with the Kings holding a two-point lead on Calgary for that No. 8 seed, every point from here on is precious.

Minus Mike

The results have been so-so for Calgary forward Michael Cammalleri since his trade from Montreal, but perhaps a goal on Thursday against Dallas will ignite him down the stretch.

In 13 games with the Flames, Cammalleri has four goals - including two on the power play - and six points on 30 shots on net. That’s not bad, but getting back on defense has been the problem. Cammalleri is a minus-5 and a minus-11 for the season when you combine his time with the Canadiens.

It'll be interesting to see if he can get to 20 goals on the season. He hasn't done that since potting 26 in 2009-10 with Montreal. Entering Saturday, he's at 13.

Waiting on Richards

The scuffling Flyers appear to have their own problems, but one thing appears for sure in Philadelphia - they do not miss forward Mike Richards, who was traded out of the City of Brotherly Love and shipped to Los Angeles in June.

Indeed, it's been a puzzling start in California for Richards, who has battled injuries and inconsistency with the Kings. In 50 games, he has 14 goals and 28 points. But what's most alarming is a recent funk at the worst possible time.

Richards had a goal in that aforementioned 4-1 win over Calgary on Jan. 14. But he hasn't scored since. That’s a span of 13 games, and in that stretch he only has two assists.

He has 59 penalty minutes and is a plus-1 in Los Angeles' defensive system. But if the Kings are going to make the postseason, they need a few more tallies from Richards.

History

The Kings have won four of the last five meetings after Calgary had won three in a row in the series. The under has gone 7-1-1 in the last nine meetings between the two and the Kings, one of the most consistent under teams in the league, have only posted one over in the last 10 games (1-7-2 over/under).

Game of the day: Ohio State Buckeyes at Michigan Wolverines

Ohio State Buckeyes at Michigan State Wolverines (5, 126)

THE STORY: The time is now for No. 19 Michigan if it wants to stake its claim in the Big Ten race. The Wolverines, who are 14-0 at the Crisler Center, find themselves one game out of first place in the conference standings behind co-leaders Michigan State and Ohio State with five games left on their schedule.

However, the No. 6 Buckeyes – who have won six straight in this series, including a 64-49 triumph on Jan. 29 – will present the biggest challenge to Michigan’s home winning streak yet as the highest-ranked opponent the Wolverines have faced at Crisler this season.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, ESPN, ESPN3.com

LINE: Oddsmakers had the Wolverines set as 5-point home underdogs with a 126-point total at the open.

ABOUT OHIO STATE (22-4, 10-3 Big Ten): As one of the top-scoring teams in the conference that leads the Big Ten in scoring margin (18.7) and field goal percentage (48.1), it’s not surprising the Buckeyes have lost two of the five games in which they were either held to 67 points or less or shot less than 43.1 percent from the field.

Michigan held the Buckeyes to their third-lowest point total of the season and fourth-lowest shooting percentage (42.6) in January. While standout Jared Sullinger struggled in the first meeting, sophomore Lenzelle Smith Jr. emerged with 17 points and 12 rebounds for his only career double-double.

ABOUT MICHIGAN (19-7, 9-4): The Wolverines are one of two Big Ten teams – along with Michigan State – who are undefeated at home this season. Michigan held Sullinger to 13 points in the teams’ first meeting – his low in conference play – and will likely need another strong defensive performance from 6-foot-8, 250-pound Jordan Morgan to reverse its fortunes in this contest.

In the four games since the loss to the Buckeyes last month when the Wolverines committed 13 turnovers and shot 35.8 percent from the field, Michigan has averaged only eight turnovers and shot 47.8 percent or better in three of those contests.

TRENDS:

- Michigan has covered the number in six of its last seven meetings with Ohio State.
- Ohio State is 6-2 against the spread in its last eight.
- The under is 9-2 in Michigan's last 11 overall.

TIP-INS:

1. Ohio State has five wins in eight tries against ranked teams this season.

2. Michigan has shot better than 40 percent from the 3-point line three times in the last four games, one more than it did in its first nine conference games.

DEPAUL +10½ over Louisville

12:00 PM EST. We all saw what happened to West Virginia after its heartbreaking loss to Syracuse and a similar fate could await the Cardinals. Louisville is coming off a similar 52-51 loss to the Orange in a game that was theirs for the taking but it somehow slipped away. Louisville went scoreless for the final 3½ minutes in that contest. It's hard to bounce right back from a loss like that. It took the Mountaineers six games to recover. The Cardinals are being asked to spot 10½ road points in their first game since that difficult defeat. They did beat DePaul in Louisville in mid-January by 17. That was after a game against Providence. The dynamics for this one are so much different. The Blue Demons have nothing to lose and as a result, they'll be loosey-goosey. DePaul is a decent scoring team and if Louisville's shooting is off again, they could get upset here. The Blue Demon's stock is very low at the moment while Louisville's is high after that great defensive effort against the Orange, not to mention that was its only loss in eight games. The sell high, buy low philosophy is in full effect for this one.. Play: #510 DePaul +10½ (Risking 2.04 units to win 2).

Seton Hall +6½ over CINCINNATI

On January 31 and riding a four-game losing streak, Seton Hall went into Marquette and had them on the ropes for most of the game. They eventually lost by seven and subsequently got blown out in its next game. We can accept that as the Pirates have recovered with three straight wins, capped off by a 30-point win over the Johnnies. They're likely going to have to run the table for any chance of getting into the tournament and it has to start here. Not much separates these two, making the line for this one somewhat suspect. The Bearcats are likely going to have to run the table as well. The difference, aside from home court, is that the Pirates are in better form at the moment and they're taking back some generous weight. Upset possibility. Play: #557 Seton Hall +6½ (Risking 2.06 units to win 2).

Long Beach State 49ers vs. Creighton Blue Jays
Saturday nights BracketBuster marathon closes shop in Omaha, NE where the Creighton Bluejays (22-5, 14-9 ATS) will look to tally a huge scalp against the Long Beach State 49ers (19-6, 12-11 ATS); ESPN2 will be on hand to broadcast the action live starting at 10:00 ET.

The current Big West Conference leading 49ers have been here before on the road and in a hostile venue. At the outset of the season, LBST took its show on the road to face the likes of Pittsburgh, San Diego State, Louisville, Kansas, and North Carolina. They even matched wits with Xavier and Kansas State on neutral courts. So to say this team is ready for what awaits them in Omaha comes as quite the understatement. One thing the 49ers do well is score the basketball (#50 at 74.1 PPG), so look to see them put some points on the board against a Creighton defense thats given up its fair share of points of late. As Casper Ware, Larry Anderson, and T.J. Robinson goes, so do the 49ers with that trio combining to score nearly 60 percent of the 49ers points. As it is, Long Beach State has gone 8-5 SU & 7-6 ATS away from the Walter Pyramid this season.

At one point in time, Creighton was everyones surefire Cinderella to make some noise in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. And why not? Doug McDermott was single-handedly destroying the opposition leading his team to win after win after win. This squad really opened pundits eyes when it toyed with each of its three Big Ten opponents (Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern) on the non-conference slate, and then after losing a shocker to Missouri State to kick off its Missouri Valley schedule, rattled off 11 straight wins (7-4 ATS) which included avenging that loss to the Bears (66-65) in their own house. However since, the Bluejays seemed to have run out of steam falling to the likes of Northern Iowa, Evansville, and Wichita State (home) before taking their aggression out on Southern Illinois by shooting a record breaking 77.5 percent from the field. With only three games left on the regular season slate, a win over the Big West leaders would no doubt improve their March Madness resume.

LBST enters with a 12-game win streak in tow, and will also be looking to post back-to-back 20 win seasons for the first time in almost 40 years. The squad went 4-3 ATS in the seven non-conference games mentioned up above, and covered the closing number three of the five times when dogged. Theyre 4-1 ATS their L/5 out of conference as well as 6-1 ATS their L/7 on the road versus +.600 opposition. Creighton sports a moneymaking 7-1 ATS tally in its L/8 non-conference tussles, but has also gone 4-9-1 ATS the L/14 times it hosted a +.500 visitor. The under is 6-1 in Long Beach States L/7 versus +.600 teams, and also stands 7-3 in the Bluejays L/10 home games versus +.600 opposition.

Drexel/Cleveland State under 120 (-110) for 3 units @ 11 AM
This is an interesting match-up between a very defensive-minded ball club in Drexel on the road against a struggling yet immensely talented Cleveland State team. I think this will be a low-scoring affair for many reasons. First off let’s look at both offenses. Drexel is a lot more comfortable offensively at home and they tend to struggle to score efficiently on the road, only averaging 63 ppg’s away from home for the season. Cleveland State was an offense that was surging at the beginning of the year, but they have been really struggling recently after losing their star player D’Aundre Brown to a groin injury against Valparaiso. In the immediate 2 games after losing Brown, Cleveland State looked extremely stagnant and disorganized on offense, scoring season lows of 41 and 49 back to back against sub-par defenses. Surprisingly, they went on an absolute tear last game offensively scoring a season high 84 shooting 60% from the field and 47% from downtown. I think this makes a let-down very likely, especially if Brown doesn’t play again which is also likely. Therefore, I think both offenses will struggle more than usual. Now, let’s look at defenses as both of these teams are stellar defensively. Drexel really prides itself on hard-nosed man to man defense where they get out on shooters and contest (they are holding opponents to a ridiculously low 27% three point percentage). Cleveland State, especially as of late without the slashing potential of Brown, has really been relying on the three as they shoot over 1/3 of all of their field goals from downtown, and Drexel should make it tough for them to get clean looks. Cleveland State also prides itself on high-pressure defense, as they force an incredible 17.3 turnovers per game. For a team in Drexel that isn’t particularly strong with the ball, Cleveland State can rely on their active hands to get a lot of stops. Overall, I think everything points to a very low-scoring affair in this match-up

Tulana/ UAB Over 112.5: Neither team is a run and gun team, but with the way the teams have been playing lately this OU line looks rather low. Tulane enters this game with their last 5 games averaging 130 ppg, while their road games on the year have averaged 118.2 ppg. We also note that their Conference games have averaged 126.6 ppg, while their last 4 conference road games have averaged 122.8 ppg. Now UAB's games haven't been high scoring this year, but their numbers across the board are all higher than this total. UAB's Conference games have averaged 117.5 ppg, while their last 5 overall have averaged 120.2 ppg, plus we note that their home games have averaged 126.7 ppg, while their conference home games have averaged 125 ppg, with just 1 of the 6 games putting up less than 120 points. UAB has scored just 64.9 ppg at home, but that number has increased of late as they have averaged a healthy 72.3 ppg. For much of the year Tulane has been solid at the defensive end, allowing just 59.1 ppg overall, but on the road this year they have allowed 62.6 ppg, while in their last 5 games overall they have allowed 68.2 ppg. UAB allowed just 28 points to SMU the other night, but in their previous 5 games they allowed 68.4 ppg, while in their last 3 at home they allowed 67.3 ppg. The Green Wave has had some ugly scoring games on the road and they have averaged just 55.6 ppg away, but even if they hit just that mark we should be golden. With the Way UAB has been playing defense as a hole of late, I expect the Green Wave to hit at least 59 or 60 in this one, while the Blazers should hit the 60 point mark as well. Looking at the numbers above, this game should have an OU line of at least 118 and I will take that value here with a game that should be played in the 120's.

NEW MEXICO -5.5 over UNLV: Google News Play. New Mexico is 21-4 on the year, which is a very impressive record, plus they hold a 1 game lead on UNLV in the Mountain West, yet they are unranked, while the Rebels come in ranked 11th in the country. Plus we can go the revenge rout as well as the Rebels beat new Mexico by 17 points earlier in the year. New Mexico is rolling right now as they have won 6 in a row and have scored 71.2 ppg, while holding opponents to just 50.3 ppg. Now that's domination. The Rebels have been excellent at home on they year where they have gone 11-2 and have outscored opponents by 18.7 ppg. UNLV has struggled on the road of late as they are just 2-3 on the road, since Jan. 14 with its two wins coming in overtime against Boise State and Air Force, both of which are tied for last in the conference standings. We know that both teams can score, but New mexico get a HUGE edge at the defensive end where they are ranked 9th in points allowed (57.7 ppg) and 6th in defensive FG% (37.4 %), while the Rebels are ranked 178th in points allowed (67 ppg) and 74th in defensive FG% (40.9%). UNLV has also allowed 73.9 ppg on the road, while the Lobos have allowed just 55.7 ppg at home. The Lobos are playing much better than the Rebels right now and they have the much better defense, they are at home in front of the National audience, they have revenge on their minds and they wanna show everyone that the wrong team is ranked. Just too many edges for the Rebels to overcome here. New Mexico by 10.


MAINE PK over Marist: Living in Maine I have been waiting all year to make a play involving the Black Bears and this is it. This is a great spot for Maine to pick up a win over a regular lined team. Maine has 3 wins over lined teams this year vs Brown and Rhode island on the road and eastern Illinois at home, plus they have a 9 point loss to Notre Dame on the resume, so they can play with some of these out of conference lined teams. Today they get to face a bad non-conference team as Marist comes in at 10-16 overall and a pathetic 1-12 on the road. the Red Foxes have been outscored by 15.4 ppg on the road and they have been bad at both ends of the floor in this process as they have averaged just 63.4 ppg on 38.1% shooting, while allowing 78.8 ppg on 49% shooting when they take to the road. at home this year Maine has averaged 66.9 ppg on a solid 45.7% shooting, while they have allowed 65.6 ppg on just 42% shooting. This is a Bracketbuster game and while Marist is playing better at te moment their road woes will jump up an bit them in the ass vs a Maine squad that has played pretty well out of conference this year. KEY TREND--- MARIST is 2-10 ATS when playing against a marginal losing team (Win Pct. 40% to 49%) over the last 3 seasons.

3 UNIT PLAYS

Iona/ Nevada Over 151: Iona loves to push the tempo, especially on their home floor. The Gaels are 6th in shots per game (62.3), while at home they have thrown up 66.4 shots per game. They have scored 87.8 ppg on 50.1% shooting on their home floor this year, with those games averaging 164.4 ppg. Now one could say that alot of that was due to the weak competition they play in the MAAC, and while that is true, we also note that during an early season tourney vs teams that don't usually push the pace (Purdue, W. Mich and Maryland) they had a 3 game set that averaged 171.7 ppg, plus in a home game vs St Joes right after the two teams combined for 203 points (165 in regulation). So you see this team will run with anyone and make them run as well. Nevada is not a running team by any stretch as they have shot the ball just 53 times per game (247th), but they can run if need be. In their last 2 road games vs San Jose State and Hawaii (two teams that are 109th or better in spg) they hoisted up 60 shots in both games and scored an average of 82 ppg in the process. for the year Nevada has scored 70.3 ppg on 45.2% shooting overall, while on the road they have scored 72.7 ppg on 46.4% shooting. What should hel the Wolfpack score even more is a Gaels defense that has allowed 76.4 ppg in their last 5 games overall and 76.6 ppg at home. The Wolfpack has played some good defense this year, as they have allowed 63.5 ppg overall and 66 ppg on the road, but in those two faced paced games they did allow 74.5 ppg and we have seen this year that the Gaels can score on anyone, especially at home. I expect this game in the 160's.


Kansas State/ Baylor Over 135.5: When this game came out last night i played it right away thinking that the line would move and it did as it's now up to 137 in some spots.This has been somewhat of a high scoring series the past few year, as 5 of the last 6 meetings have all seen games where 140+ points were scored, with an average of 151.8 ppg being scored over the 6 games, while in the first game this year we saw 148 points scored. Baylor has scored very well at home this year where they have averaged 78 ppg on 48.5% shooting and will be taking on a KSU team that has allowed 66 ppg on the road and 71.5 ppg in their last 2 away from home. KSU has struggled some to score of late and they do average just 65.7 ppg on the road, but they have averaged 68.4 ppg in their last 5 Big 12 road games and Baylor has allowed 68.6 ppg in their last 8 big 12 games overall. I don't see any reason why the Wildcats can't hit the Upper 60's in this one, while Baylor should be good for a game in the low to mid 70's. This game should hit 140+ with ease. KEY TRENDS--- BAYLOR is 19-5 OVER in home games after a game where they made 78% of their free throws or better since 1997, while KANSAS ST is 22-9 OVER in road games in February games since 1997.

For UTEP their road games have averaged 135 ppg, while their last 5 overall have put up 134 ppg. UTEP is 25-12 OVER in a road game where the total is 130 to 139.5 since 1997, while MEMPHIS is 10-1 OVER after 2 straight games committing 11 or less turnovers over the last 3 seasons.

This is a game that we use annually as Carolina just owns Clemson. Tar Heels are an amazing 55-0 straight up and 38-17 ATS at home against the Tigers! North Carolina is the best offensive team in the nation averaging 83 points per game and has also turned up the heat on defense lately.
