2 Star Selection
MINNESOTA (-8 ½) over Nebraska (Rotation: 530)
03-Mar-12 09:30 AM Pacific
Minnesota has lost 6 straight games but the Gophers haven’t actually been playing much worse than their season level – they’ve just played a series of good teams since winning by 8 points at Nebraska earlier this month. The Cornhuskers, on the other hand, are slumping (1-7 ATS) and their level of play is considerably lower than their season average. My ratings favor the Gophers by 13 points in this game and I’ll take Minnesota in a 2-Star Best Bet at -10 points or less and for 3-Stars at -8 or less.

Play Strength: 2-Stars at -10 or less, 3-Stars at -8.

2 Star Selection
AUBURN (-1 ½) over Lsu (Rotation: 536)
03-Mar-12 11:00 AM Pacific
Both teams are on small losing streaks entering this game, but I trust an underrated Auburn team to bounce back and get a win in their final home game. Auburn is 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games and the Tigers are 14-1 ATS in conference games after consecutive losses under coach Tony Barbee, including 9-0 ATS at home. LSU has a losing spread record after a loss under Trent Johnson, including 5-14 ATS in conference road games after a loss. The main reason for the play is a very good 21-1-2 ATS subset of an 89-32-7 ATS last home game situation that applies to Auburn. My ratings favor Auburn by 1 ½ points and I’ll take Auburn in a 2-Star Best Bet at -2 or less and for 3-Stars at -1 or better.

Play Strength: 2-Stars at -2 or less, 3-Stars at -1 or better.

3 Star Selection
Old Dominion (-6) over Delaware (Rotation: 632)
03-Mar-12 11:35 AM Pacific
Old Dominion finished the season with a 1 point loss to #1 seeded Drexel, but the Monarchs are 30-4 ATS in conference games after a conference loss (14-0 ATS recently) and they also apply to a very strong 117-35-4 ATS conference tournament situation. Delaware has won 8 straight games, but my ratings favor ODU by 6 ½ points and I’ll take Old Dominion in a 3-Star Best Bet at -6 or less and for 2-Stars up to -7.

Play Strength: 3-Stars at -6 or less, 2-Stars up to -7.

2 Star Selection
OKLAHOMA (-5) over Texas A&M (Rotation: 562)
03-Mar-12 01:00 PM Pacific
Both of these teams have lost 8 of their last 9 games and stand at 4-13 in Big 12 play, but Oklahoma is a better team and the Sooners apply to a 21-1-2 ATS subset of an 89-32-7 ATS last home game situation. My ratings favor the Sooners by 6 ½ points with current personnel for each team (A&M is worse with PG Dash Harris back thanks to his 34% shooting). I’ll take Oklahoma in a 2-Star Best Bet at -6 points or less.

Play Strength: 2-Stars at -6 or less.

3 Star Selection
Murray State (-6 ½) over Tennessee State (Rotation: 664)
03-Mar-12 04:35 PM Pacific
Murray State got bored in the middle of conference play and went through a point spread slump, mostly as big favorites. However, the Racers have their act together now and have covered 6 straight games entering the OVC Championship game against home town team Tennessee State (although this is not their home court). Murray State is just 3-9 ATS as a favorite of more than 10 points this season but they’re 12-1 ATS when not favored by double-digits because they focus more on those games. The Racers lost at home to Tennessee State, their only loss of the season, but beat up on the Tigers by 18 points here in Nashville in the rematch and they’re probably still a bit pissed off. Murray State applies to a very good 68-22-1 ATS conference tournament championship game situation that is 30-5 ATS when it’s the #1 seed against the #2 seed. My ratings favor Murray State by 8 ½ points even if I give Tennessee State a couple of points for a semi-home court advantage (that’s probably too generous). I’ll take Murray State in a 3-Star Best Bet at -8 points or less and for 2-Stars up to -9.

Play Strength: 3-Stars at -8 or less, 2-Stars up to -9
