Senior Handicapper Matt Rivers of OffshoreInsiders.com has a winner for Friday is on Florida (-4) to Alabama.

Reasoning: Florida is a team that I think can make a nice little run right about now. The Gators upside is Final Four high and after being a little sketchy and inconsistent at times they are nicely undervalued here against a good Alabama team but not an Alabama team that really scares me all that much.

Anthony Grant has done a very respectable job with this Alabama program and I love how he took the bull by the horns and suspended some players including Tony Mitchell. But Grant is still no Donovan and I never trust the Tide away from home. In the end the Florida guard play with Erving Walker and Kenny Boynton should be able to more than hold their own today as UF wins this thing by about eight.

Top expert pick on this game: Florida from the real Matt Rivers

Now to one of Bill Tanner’s four premium plays. Tanner is Senior Handicapper at OffshoreInsiders.com

Kansas Jayhawks vs. Baylor Bears

The Kansas Jayhawks and Baylor Bears will get together on Friday for a Big 12 tournament game. The Jayhawks are the top seed, and coming off a win over Texas A+M. Baylor won the first game of the day, beating Kansas State in the 4/5 game. Kansas won both games between these two teams this season.

The Jayhawks lost just two games during Big 12 play. A loss at Iowa State and a road loss at Missouri was it. Kansas beat Kansas State twice, Baylor twice and took a huge rally late to beat Missouri at home. Thomas Robinson is one of the top candidates for player of the year, with 18 points and just shy of 12 rebounds per game.

The Baylor Bears are led by Perry Jones III. The guard had 35 in the regular season loss to Iowa State, and then backed it up with 32 on Thursday. Baylor is scoring 74.5 points per game as a team. The Bears started the season with a 17 game winning streak, before losing at Kansas and then at home to Missouri to begin the Big 12 season.

Kansas is 16-14-1 against the spread this season. In games played on a neutral court, the Jayhawks are 3-0. Baylor is 3-2 on a neutral court. The Bears are 11-14 against the spread this season. The Jayhawks won both of the first two games by double digits, and we look for them to do that again in this game. We are betting Kansas -5.5.

Tanners Tip: Kansas Jayhawks -5.5

LEE EARNEST

I'm extremely frustrated with the lack of finishing ability by all the teams I backed last night. It was truly painful to watch. I'm apparently overestimating the teams that have something to prove/play for and underestimating the desire and drive of the opposing team. I don't know whether it's nerves by the players in the final minutes of the game or what it is, but something has to change, and it starts today.

During tournaments like this one as well as "The Big Dance" I like alot of action, so I personally play alot of games, it is up to you whether you choose to play some or all of the games I am playing....whatever you choose to do, this is who I will be playing in the early games. I will be back later with my afternoon/evening card.

AccuScore - NBA

Charlotte Bobcat vs. New Jersey Nets Under 192.5 Points
Over the past week AccuScore has gone 8-5, 61.5 percent, picking totals when the betting line is between 190.5 to 195 points. The under occurs in 52 percent of simulations and is a four-star Advisor play. AccuScore’s record picking totals in New Jersey games is 13-8, 61.9 percent.

Boston Celtics vs. Portland Trail Blazers Under 188 Points
The AccuScore computer projects the over at 188 points, but I’m going to fade the pick. Portland has gone over the posted total just 41.2 percent of the time on the road. Boston has gone over the posted total just 39.1 percent of the time at home. The computer has correctly picked Celtics totals just 8 of 23 times, a rate of 34.8 percent.

Sacramento Kings vs. Dallas Mavericks Under 196 Points
The computer pick is actually the over, but it is just a one-star Advisor play. Dallas has gone under more often than over on the road. AccuScore has gone just 5-11 picking totals for Dallas games.

SACRAMENTO +110 over Dallas Pinnacle (http://www.pinnaclesports.com/)
The Champs are five games over .500. The Mavericks have just two wins in their past eight games. The two wins came against the 4-13 traveling Jazz and a highly anticipated home date with the Knicks. They played in Phoenix last night and lost by a bucket. They have recent losses to New Jersey as a 10½-point favorite and another in New Orleans. Dallas plays its third game in four days, tail end of back-to-backs and they'll play in Golden State tomorrow for its third game in three days. As a result of the three games in three days, expect minutes to be rationed tonight. The Kings are 9-6 at home. They're an erratic bunch but they do possess talent and they are improving. They have a pair of super-talented building blocks in Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousins. Sac has won four of its past six home games which include wins over Oklahoma City and Portland. They're rested and ready to go, as home crowd should have the place rockin’ with the champion Mavs' in town. Play: Sacramento +113 (Risking 2 units).

PHILADELPHIA -6½ over Utah Pinnacle (http://www.pinnaclesports.com/)

One might believe the 76ers are satisfied with their 30-point win over the Celtics but with eight losses over their previous 10 games, they're not. Philly also lost in Salt Lake in late December and that should have them paying attention to this assignment. The Jazz are getting way too much credit. They're so tough at home but on the road they have five wins in 18 tries. Two of those wins came on this current trip but they occurred in Cleveland and Charlotte. Aside from winning two straight on the road, the Jazz have a recent home win over the Heat. Overall, they've won four of five with only loss coming at Dallas over that span. That has them overvalued in this spot, playing their fourth consecutive on the road against one of the best teams in the East that just snapped a mini-funk. No setback or mercy will be shown here. Play: Philadelphia -6½ +100 (Risking 2.1 units to win 2)

Sports Wagers NHL

Los Angeles +138 over DETROIT Pinnacle (http://www.pinnaclesports.com/)
The Kings are undervalued here for a number of reasons. Last night, as a small favorite in Columbus, they lost 3-1 and that puts a bad taste in the mouths of bettors. The Kings will now play the tail end of back-to-backs here and their third game in four days. That would be somewhat of a concern but one could argue that the Kings took the Jackets lightly and were looking slightly ahead to this one. How could they not be after the Red Wings went into Los Angeles a week before Christmas and clobbered the Kings, 8-2? When you’re on the cusp of a playoff spot, every point is crucial from here on out and last night's loss was a good reminder that you can't have suffer lapses. The Red Wings might be in “relax mode”, as they buried this intruder twice already this year and they have an important game in Nashville tomorrow night. The Red Wings are four points up on Nashville. The two teams sit in fourth and fifth place in the West, meaning there's a very good chance that they'll meet in the first round of the playoffs with the team finishing fourth earning home ice for that series. With Pavel Datsyk, Nicklaus Lindstrom, Jimmy Howard, Todd Betuzzi and a few others on the rack, the Red Wings' focus could be off here in anticipation of tomorrow. Kings need to wake up from last night's loss and the opportunity couldn’t be better. Play: Los Angeles +138 (Risking 2 units).

1-4 (-6.54 Units) Yesterday. We got hammered yesterday, first up the NHL where the over was should have been easy except for the fact that Florida couldn't score a single goal and we come up short by a goal. In Hoops Syracuse just came out completely flat and almost lost this game, but couldn't cover in the end. Marquette was beaten up by Louisville and never had a lead in this game at all. Northwestern had their game in hand but couldn't hold on at the end and lost in OT. Our only win came as Louisiana Tech is able to cover late against Utah st. We had 1 too many games on the card yesterday, thats our fault for casting such a wide net. Back to basics we go.

NCAAB

St Josephs -2 (2 Units) - The bonnies finished the season pretty good, winning 4 out 5 and beating this St Joes team in a double overtime game. St Joes has faced much better competition all season however, and they own the Bonnies this time of the year. They know they will need to get to the conference final to make the NCAA tourney and we have seen enough of them to believe they can get it done.

Florida -3.5 (1.5 Units) - Right about this time of the year is when Florida comes alive. They finished the season with 3 straight losses although it was against good competition. They also lead the nation in 3 point shooting which helps them open up the floor. Bama still playing pretty good ball as well, but we feel the speedy Florida backcourt will exploit Bama again and come away with a victory today.

3 UNIT PLAY
Temple/ UMass Over 151: The last couple of years have shown that these are not the same Temple Owls that were a grind it out, game in the 50s-60s kind of squad. No this team likes to run and they will certainly get a chance today vs a UMass team that also likes to push the ball. The Owls come in averaging a solid 76.2 ppg on the year and they have averaged 77.3 ppg (Reg) in their last 10 games, plus they have averaged 77.4 ppg in the A-10 this year. Now this how scoring offense gets to face a UMass team that has been pretty bad at the defensive end this year. UMass actually allows just 40.5% shooting on the year, but because of their pace teams do get a lot of shots, so they have allowed 71.5 ppg overall. In the A-10 they have allowed 75 ppg, but on just 41.5% shooting, but again that's due to the pace. Temple's defense has not been the best as they come in allowing 69.7 ppg both overall and within the A-10 and will be facing a high octane UMass team that has averaged 76.6 ppg overall and 76.2 ppg in the A-10, while also ranking in the top 10 in the nation in shots per game. This will be an up and down game with a lot of offense and very little defense. The last 2 in this series has also gone to OT, so it should be a close game as well, which should get us some FT's at the end and both teams are above average in shooting FT's. I expect this one to be played in the 160's.

OTHER PLAYS

2 UNIT PLAY
Florida -4 over Alabama: (Added) Two teams that are headed in opposite directions, but I still feel the Gators are the right side. Alabama's defense will need to be in top form today if it wants to slow down the potent Florida shooting attack. Despite its recent struggles, the Gators will buckle down and find a way to advance after having several days to prepare.

1 UNIT PLAY
Michigan State -10.5 over Iowa: The Hawkeyes will look for revenge for a 34 point beatdown the Spartans gave them during the regular season, but it just won't happen. Iowa's offense has been down as they have averaged just 62.6 ppg in their last 5 games and that may not improve here as the Spartans have allowed just 59.8 ppg in their last 5 games.Iowa has played better defense of late (63 ppg last 5), but they still allow 76 ppg on the road. Michigan State just has too much at both ends of the floor for the Hawkeyes to overcome here. Michigan State is my pick to win the Big 10 tourney and they will get off to a strong start here.

Friday's College Basketball Plays

3-Unit Play. #848 Take Florida (-3.5) over Alabama (3:30 p.m., Friday, March 9)

Florida is one of the team's I have my eye on in March. I think the Gators are super dangerous. Conversely, I think the Tide are, and have been all season, overrated and playing well above their heads. They still aren't 100 percent with Tony Mitchell still being suspended. Florida just does everything better than Alabama, and I will lay the number with Billy Donovan and his squad here.

3-Unit Play. #836 Take Xavier (-3) over Dayton (8:55 p.m., Friday, March 9)

Through all that Xavier has been through this year, I think they are prepared well for the A-10 conference tournament. This is one of the best leagues in the entire country, the Atlantic 10 is very underrated. I think the X-Men might just have a run in them here. We'll take them to start with a win over the Flyers.

3 Unit Play Take #862 Akron -1.5 over Kent State (4:05pm est):

Sometimes a team is just better than another though most don't want to admit that to be the case. This is exactly the deal with Akron versus Kent State. The Zips not only beat them twice this year including on Kent State's Senior Day, they also finished a few games ahead of them to win the Mid-American Conference.

Kent State really sputtered down the stretch, losing big games to teams and in spots that they should have easily won. It seems they are getting the respect here because of how strong a program the Golden Flashes have been for some time now.

In reality it's been Akron that has been the better of the two schools of late as the Zips have not only won more games over the last four seasons, they also won the MAC tournament last year by beating Kent State in the finals. Keep in mind that Akron has not only been the MAC representative two of the last three years, they played in the conference championship game now for five straight years.

Akron played a tougher schedule, won more regular season games, beat Kent State both times they faced each other and won the regular season conference championship also. Not sure what else the Zips have to do to gain some respect here. Play Akron minus the points in this one.

3 Unit Play Take #836 Xavier -3 over Dayton (9:00pm est):

Been an odd year for Xavier, one we have talked about quite a bit also. Despite all their issues they can still make the NCAA tournament and to do so they probably need a win or two here in their conference tournament. Talent wise the Musketeers are loaded but for some reason they just can't seem to get it going for a consistent period of time this year. It's situations like this, a tournament with lots of pressure that a team with Xavier's talent usually awakens and can do some real damage. Just looking at their overall body of work this year shows a team that has wins over Vanderbilt, Purdue and Cincinnati which are three very impressive victories for any program to post in a season.

Dayton is a solid team who has played well this year but looks to be just a notch below a NCAA tournament team in my eyes. The Flyers have come back down to earth a bt after a 14-5 start to their year going just 6-6 their last 12 games coming into this game here tonight. In those last 12 games five were against teams rated in the top 105 teams in the country and the Flyers went just 1-4 against that group with their lone win being at home to 97th ranked Massachusetts.

Xavier has the ability to put an A+ game on the table if everything is rolling for them. They should be motivated and focused for this tournament this weekend knowing what it means for them. Take Xavier to get the win and cover here tonight. My NBA Game of the Week goes tonight. I am 6-0-1 in pro hoops this week as I am enjoying my hottest stretch of the season in the NBA. Have a nice slate of games going this evening and your not going to want to miss them either as you get all my plays for the same low price which also includes my top pick of the week like I previously noted. I am on fire since we got back from the All-Star break and I plan on continuing this red hot roll.

WUNDERDOG
Game: Miami, Fla. vs. Florida State (9:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: Miami, Fla. +2.5 (-110)

This is a huge in-state rivalry game in ACC action, pitting Miami, Fla. against the Florida State Seminoles. The Hurricanes are the team in need here, as many have them dangerously on the bubble. While they lost by just 5 points at Florida State, they blew out the Seminoles at home, and should be hungry and confident for this one. A win over a ranked team should put them on the better side of the bubble. Miami has been tough on the defensive end allowing opponents to shoot an average of less than 40% for the season, and a good sign was their lackluster 33% shooting effort that still resulted in an 18-point win vs. Georgia Tech last night.
Play on Miami.
