double-dime bet NY METS (-118) vs 955 WASHINGTON

Analysis: I'm backing the NY Mets on Tuesday night. The Mets are on a red-hot, 4-0 run to start the season and with Dillon Gee's mastery of the Nationals, I'm betting they'll make it to 5-0. Gee has made five career starts against Washington, allowing just 11 earned runs and 35 base runners in 32 innings, for a 3.09 ERA and 1.09 WHIP, to go along with a .196 BAA. If / when Gee gives way to the pen, he'll be protected by a relief staff that has been on fire. Through the first four games of the season, the Mets' pen have allowed just 1 earned run and 9 base runners, with 12 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings. That's a sizzling, 0.68 ERA & 0.68 WHIP, and an 8.12 Ks/9 IP mark. Washington scored 5 runs in the 8th inning of their game-two win over Chicago. They have scored a grand total of just 10 runs in their other 35 innings combined. Ross Detwiler makes his first start of the season for the Nats and he has had some tough outings on the road in his young career, saddled with a 1-9 record in 19 appearances, including 13 starts. Washington is just 3-10 in those 13 starts and Detwiler has been tagged for a 5.52 ERA & 1.43 WHIP in three starts against the Mets. The Nats have won just 13 of their last 45 as a road dog of +1.25 or less. New York is 11-1 when Gee starts during the first half of the season, winning by an average score of 5.2 to 2.3. I believe the red-hot start will continue. I'm laying the price with the Mets on Tuesday. Thanks! GL! Scott.
