100* Play Indiana (+3.5) over Philadelphia (TOP NBA PLAY)
7:00 PM EST

Indiana has won 9 of the last 10 games and they have also covered the spread in 12 of the last 16 games after scoring 100 points or more in two straight games. Indiana has covered the spread in 8 of the last 9 games coming off three games where they outrebounded their opponent by five or more and they are averaging over 105 points a game on offense over the last five games.

3 UNIT PLAY

LA ANGELS -1.5 (+110) over Oakland: The A's started out playing some pretty good offense, but that has not been the case in their last 6 games, as they have hit under .175 and have been shutout 3 times during that stretch. It might not get easier fore them tonight as they face Dan Haren, who is 2-2 with a solid 3.79 ERA vs his old team, plus he is 14-10 with a 2.74 ERA in 30 career starts in this park. Dan has had some struggles in the early going, as he has allowed 20 hits in a little over 10 innings, but he should be able to shut down this group tonight. The Angels offense is looking a bit better of late, as they averaged 6.2 rpg on their recent road trip and then came home and put up 6 runs in last night's game. Tonight they face Tyson Ross, who has just 8 starts in his career and is 2-4 with a 3.49 ERA in those starts, while vs the Halos he is 0-1 with a 2.53 ERA in 2 starts. Not bad number for him vs the Angels, but still I think LA's offense is playing very well right now and the A's just won't put up enough offense to keep this one close. Look for L.A. to win this one by 3 or more here.

Hot lines: Tuesday's best MLB bets

Cleveland Indians at Seattle Mariners (+110, 7)

Averaging an MLB-best 6.5 runs, the Indians have homered in each of their first eight games, the fourth-longest streak in franchise history.

Rejuvenated Travis Hafner (2 HRs, 5 RBIs), the 34-year-old DH, and 2B Jason Kipnis (3 HRs, 7 RBIs) are leading the power surge. Hafner hit a 468-foot bomb in Sunday's 13-7 blowout of Kansas City.

"Wow! He's hit two balls already that I guess the people in Cleveland were used to seeing before he hurt his shoulder," manager Manny Acta said of Hafner. "I've seen a lot of games here and I've never seen a ball hit that far."

Cleveland's offense will present a major challenge to Seattle starter Kevin Millwood, who is trying to revive his career at age 37.

The Mariners have built their winning record on the backs of the A’s. Seattle has played the A’s seven times, getting five of its seven wins against them. Seattle ranks 13th in the AL in slugging percentage (.353), ahead of only Oakland.

Cleveland scored at least eight runs in its first three road games for the first time in franchise history.

Pick: Over

Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays (-130, 8)

Toronto saved face with a win over Baltimore in its series finale after two bullpen collapses in the late innings. The Blue Jays' starters have been stellar to begin the season, posting a collective 2.90 ERA, second lowest in the American League.

Tampa Bay also did some damage control with a 1-0 win over Boston Monday, snapping a four-game losing streak. The Rays' offense is sputtering, scoring an average of only 2.8 runs in the last five games and could have a tough time against Ricky Romero.

Romero picked up his first win of 2012 with an impressive outing versus Boston, giving up only one run on three hits over 8 1/3 innings. The lefty is 5-4 with a career 3.18 ERA against Tampa Bay, including a 3-2 mark and 2.02 ERA in five starts versus the Rays last season.

Jose Bautista is getting warmer with a hit in all three games against the Orioles. However, the reigning home run king hasn’t gone yard since opening day and has also failed to drive in a run since putting two on the board on April 5. Tampa Bay leaked runs to the Red Sox, getting outscored 31-13 in that four-game set.

Pick: Blue Jays

Ice picks: Tuesday's best NHL bets

Nashville Predators at Detroit Red Wings (-165, 5) odds provided by logans

The one constant for the Detroit Red Wings this season has been a decisive edge on their home ice. That quickly went out the window in their playoff home opener, leaving Detroit in a perilous situation Tuesday night as it prepares to host the Nashville Predators in Game 4 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series.

Nashville posted a 3-2 win in Game 3 at Joe Louis Arena – its second straight victory in Detroit counting the regular season – to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

Even though Detroit’s penalty-killing unit has done a superb job of keeping Nashville’s top-ranked power play in check, the number of infractions whistled against the Red Wings is grating on the players.

Detroit was the second-least penalized team (to Nashville) in the regular season but ranks third in the playoffs with 19 penalties.

"You don't want to be wasting your energy killing penalties the whole game,” Drew Miller told reporters.

The Red Wings also need some of their top scorers to step up. Jiri Hudler, who had 25 goals during the regular season, doesn’t have a point in the series, while 23-goal scorer Valtteri Filppula has only one assist.

Pick: Under

NBA | Apr 17 Indiana Pacers vs. Philadelphia 76ers Total 184½ un-110 at BODOG

On Tuesday the free NBA totals system is on the Under in the Pacers at Sixers game. Rotation numbers 501/502 at 7;05 eastern. This game fits a nice totals system that has won 10 of the last 11 times and plays to the under for road dogs like the Pacers with no rest after a home favored win at -10 or more, vs an opponent off a road game where they had 25 or more assists. The Sixers have gone under in 22 of their 32 home games and will draw the Pacers into a slower style game here. The Sixers have played under in 8 of 12 vs Central Division teams and in the series here 3 of the last 4 have stayed under the total. Look for this one to follow suit tonight. On Tuesday there are 3 Big Power systems up. In MLB its a Big 5* MLB Diamond cutter system that has won 17 of 19 times and 2 Big NBA Power System Sides both from 90% or better systems and with Perfect Power Angles. Jump on now and cash out tonight. For the free play take the Pacers and Sixers to go under the total. RV

Indiana +136 over PHILADELPHIA Pinnacle
The 76ers have been out of sorts for a while now. They have two wins over Toronto and New Jersey over their past eight games. In a rematch against the Nets this past Friday, the 76ers lost by six points as an 11½-point choice. Against a depleted Magic team last night, Philly lost by 13. Now the red-hot and talented Pacers come in here riding a five-game winning streak and having won nine of their past 10, including a five-point win over the juggernaut Thunder. The Pacers are among the toughest outs in the Association. They have size, scoring and they play tremendous defense too. All five starters went off for double digits last game. The Pacers are simply the much more focused group right now while the 76ers have been heading south for weeks. The last time these two played was on March 14 in Indiana where the Pacers beat them by 17. Current form and desire strongly suggest a similar result here. Play: Indiana +136 (Risking 2 units).

Game: Memphis at Minnesota (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: Memphis -7.5 (-110)

The Memphis Grizzlies have dealt with a lot of injury issues over the last two years to key players. They are finally healthy, and one byproduct of the injuries is added team depth. The T-Wolves looked to be one of the most improved teams in the league until they were inflicted with the injury bug, and unfortunately are simply not a deep enough team to overcome them. Minnesota is at 4-18 over their last 22 games and have fallen prey in each of their last 10 and have covered just two of their last 12. Memphis is an opportunistic running team, and they will take advantage of the T-Wolves, just as so many other good teams have recently and run for easy buckets. Memphis has covered six of the last seven vs. the T-Wolves. Play on Memphis.

The Minnesota Twins opened up their series with the Yankees with a 7-3 win, making them 3-7 on the season. The Twins were swept on the road against Baltimore to open the season making last night their first road win of the season. In their previous series at home against the Rangers the Twins were also swept scoring just 6 runs in their three losses. The Yankees lost dropped them to 5-5 on the season, and 2-2 at home. Tonight's starting pitch up match up heavily favors the Yankees with Francisco Liriano going for Minnesota and ace CC Sabathia going for the Yankees. Liriano is 0-1 on the season with a 10.00 ERA. He has pitched 9 innings allowing 15 hits, 10 earned runs, with 6 strike outs and 5 walks. He also has a high 2.22 WHIP and .375 opponents batting average. In 2011 Liriano went 9-10 with a 5.09 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, and .249 opponents batting average. Sabathia hasn't been himself in his first two starts of the season, but pitching at home should help him get back on track. Sabathia has pitched 12 innings giving up 16 hits and 9 earned runs for a 6.75 ERA in his two starts. Last season Sabathia went 19-8 with a 3.00 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and .255 opponents batting average. He was also 8-3 at home with a 3.07 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and .234 opponents batting average. In his career against Minnesota Sabathia is 13-8 with a low 2.98 ERA and two shutouts. The Twins victory on Monday night was a rare win in New York, as the Yankees have beaten Minnesota in 33 of their 41 games at Yankee Stadium. Take note that the Twins are 6-20 in Liriano's last 26 starts vs AL East opponents, 2-5 in his last 7 road starts, and 1-6 in his last 7 starts vs the Yankees. As a team dating back to last season the Twins are just 6-20 in their last 26 road games, 2-8 in their last 10 road games vs a left-handed starter and 13-38 in their last 51 vs AL East opponents. The Yankees are 45-10 in their last 55 games as a home favorite of -201 or more, and 38-17 in their last 55 home games. The Yankees are also 45-16 in Sabathia's last 61 starts as a favorite, and 37-14 in his last 51 home starts. The Yankees are 24-6 in Sabathia's last 30 starts as a favorite of -201 or higher, and are 4-1 in his lsat 5 starts vs the Twins. Minnesota is a team that the Yankees have dominated recently and I look for that to continue tonight with their ace on the mound at home for the first time this season and with them coming off a loss last night.

Boston Celtics at New York Knicks

The Boston Celtics (36-25, 31-28-2 ATS) renew their rivalry with the New York Knicks (31-29, 31-29 ATS) at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY Tuesday night at 8:00 ET in a game carried on TNT. The Celtics sat out their veteran Big Three of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen on Sunday, and yet they still managed to cover as road favorites in a 94-82 win over the hapless Charlotte Bobcats. The Knicks meanwhile lost 93-85 on national television to the Miami Heat on Sunday, although the New Yorkers still hold on to the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with a two game lead over the ninth place Milwaukee Bucks and just six games remaining.

The Celtics can afford to rest their aging stars because they seemingly have a lock on the Atlantic Division title with a four game lead on the Philadelphia 76ers and five games remaining. That means that Boston is basically already assured of being no worse than a four seed, although it is still mathematically possible to finish third as the Celtics trail the Indiana Pacers by 2 games. Regardless, pending a miraculous collapse, Boston will have home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Now that does not mean that the Big Three will sit out again here, and Pierce and Garnett are indeed listed as probable. Allen is a different story as he has missed five games with a legitimate ankle injury and he remains questionable. Boston has been one of the hottest teams in the NBA since the All-Star break and the Celts have rewarded their supporters by going 18-7-2 against the spread in their last 27 games. They have not minded travelling recently either, going 6-2 straight up and 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight road games including upset wins over the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers.

The Knicks look to be in good shape as far as the playoff picture goes, but they cannot continue to be a one-man show, and that cost them in the Miami loss. That one man is Carmelo Anthony, who poured in 42 points against the Heat. That marked the second straight Sunday that Anthony went off vs. a marquee opponent on national television, as he scored a season high 43 points vs. the Chicago Bulls last week. The difference this time around though was that Anthony got precious little support, as no Knick starter scored more than nine points and the only other player in double-digits was J.R. Smith, who provided 16 points off the bench. Still, you have to give the Miami defense credit as the Heat's philosophy was apparently to let Anthony score his points and suffocate everyone else. Even with that loss, New York is still 18-4 ATS in its last 22 home games as well as 14-5 ATS in its last 19 games overall.

However, the Knicks will have to overcome Boston's absolute dominance of this head-to-head series the last two years. If we include the four-game sweep by the Celtics over New York in the NBA Playoffs last year, they are now 10-1 straight up vs. the Knicks since the start of last season, with the only Knicks' win being a non-covering two-point win on opening day this season.
