Larry Ness' 10* Division Game of the Month-MLB (64% L6 days all sports)
My 10* NL West Game of the Month is on the SF Giants at 9:40 ET.

The D'backs opened the 2012 season by sweeping the Giants in a three-game series at Chase Field (all wins coming by one run), part of the team beginning 5-1. However, Arizona is just 9-17 since and will enter this weekend series with the Giants on a five-game losing streak (outscored 29-13), after suffering a three-game home sweep at the hands of St Louis this week, getting outscored 22-9. The D'backs do own an EIGHT-game winning streak over the Giants but at this point, that seems more of a fluke, rather than a trend. Madison Bumgarner's lone defeat of 2012 came in Arizona back on April 7, allowing four ERs in four innings on seven hits (including two HRs to Aaron Hill). However, Bumgarner has won FIVE consecutive starts since his season debut, allowing six ERs over 35 innings for a 1.54 ERA (owns a 1.25 ERA over his last three outings). This doesn't seem like a good time for Arizona to face a pitcher as 'hot' as Bumgarner, as the D'backs have scored THREE or fewer runs in FIVE of their last seven games and are 7-14 since Chris Young went on the DL with a right shoulder contusion. Arizona will counter Bumgarner with rookie Patrick Corbin, who is making his third major league start and first at home. Corbin made his MLB debut at Miami on April 30, going 5.2 innings while allowing eight hits and three ERs (won 9-5). He then struggled Saturday at the New York Mets, allowing four ERs in 3.1 innings of a 4-3 loss. That's 13 hits allowed, along with seven ERs in nine innings (7.00 ERA plus an 8-5 KW ratio). More of a concern for Arizona is that closer JJ Putz gave up four runs in just two-thirds of an inning on Wednesday and now owns a 13.50 ERA over his last seven appearances. Giants end that eight-game losing streak to the D'backs right here!

Good luck...Larry
