Sports Wagers MLB

Atlanta +103 over CINCINNATI Pinnacle
Mike Minor is off to a rough start in May, as he has a 12.56 ERA and three rough outings in a row. The reason he’s been roughed up is a very low 57% strand rate over those three games. That will change and once it normalizes his ERA will drop. Minor still has outstanding control and a high strikeout rate and he’s a much better option than Mike Leake. Leake is 0-3 at Great American Ballpark with an ERA of 8.53. In 37.1 frames he has just 21 K’s while walking 13. Now Leake will pitch with his starting role on the line against a Braves club that leads the NL in runs scored and leads in many other offensive categories as well. Minor will face a Reds squad that is 13th in the NL in both runs scored and batting average. There’s not a single reason to pass up on the superior team here taking back a tag. Play: Atlanta +103 (Risking 2 units).

Los Angeles +105 over ARIZONA Pinnacle
The Diamondbacks have five wins in 14 games against lefties. They also lead the NL in strikeouts and will face a left-handed strikeout pitcher here in Chris Capuano. Capuano has 45 k’s in 50 IP with just 18 walks issued. Overall, the Dodgers have won six of Capuano’s eight starts and his 2.34 ERA and .201 BAA is among the leaders in the league. Meanwhile, the Dodgers keep on winning. They’re now 28-13 and have the best record in the majors. They’ll face a rookie southpaw in Patrick Corbin. In four starts this year, Corbin has average numbers right across the board. He had a career 3.83 ERA in the minors and has a 5.73 ERA through his first four starts. He was projected to be a fourth or fifth starter in the majors and so far the projection is holding up. A hot Dodgers team facing a free swinging club that is 7-12 at home gets the call. Play: Los Angeles +105 (Risking 2 units).

Kansas City +153 over N.Y. YANKEES Pinnacle
Felipe Paulino has made just three starts this season after beginning the season on the DL. His late start has him under the radar and when you add in that he’s facing the usually overpriced Yanks, it provides an opportunity to take back some strong value. Paulino started 20 games last season and had an XERA of 3.45. His W/L record of 4-10 masked his consistency and upside. This kid can pitch. He showed a groundball bias profile and a high strikeout rate and this year he looks even better. In his three starts this season covering 19 IP, Paulino has whiffed 21 batters while walking just five. He’s coming off a seven-inning gem against the Orioles and was strong against both the White Sox and in his season debut versus the Yankees in which he allowed four hits and zero runs in six full. With his transfer to the power-happy AL East, Hiroki Kuroda’s ERA is nothing similar to what he posted the past two years pitching for the Dodgers. It’s no surprise either. Kuroda’s skills are on a three-year decline. His groundball rate remains solid but his strikeout rate is down and his pitch count is way up. Kuroda has also allowed nine bombs already and that, too, is no surprise, as Yankee Stadium enhances runs by 8% and HR by a ghastly 43%. Royals are playing much better after a horrible start and sit just 6½-games back of Cleveland in the AL Central. Play: Kansas City +153 (Risking 2 units).

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

The Los Angeles Lakers (46-31, 32-44-1 ATS) could not hold off a late rally
by the Oklahoma City Thunder (54-20, 39-34-1 ATS) at home on Saturday,
meaning that the Thunder now get a chance to close out this series at home in
five games. Oklahoma City overcame a 13-point deficit with 8:00 left in Game 4
to win 103-100 and take a 3-1 series lead, and the Thunder can now send the
Lakers' home for the summer in Game 5 Monday from Chesapeake Energy Arena
in Oklahoma City, OK at 9:30 ET on TNT.

Ever since a 29-point Thunder blowout in Game 1, the last three games of
this series have all been tight with the Oklahoma City winning Game 2 at home
77-75 and the Lakers winning Game 3 at home 99-96 prior to Saturday's
nail-biter. Oklahoma City ended Game 4 on a 22-8 run while outscoring the Lakers
32-20 in the fourth quarter, and Kevin Durant's go-ahead three-pointer with
13 seconds left may go down as the shot that put the Thunder in the Western
Conference Finals, given that they are now 30-7 here at home this year
combining the regular season and playoffs. Durant may have hit the game-winner
while finishing with 31 points Saturday, but Russell Westbrook was the
Thunder's leading scorer with 37 points and the club shot a blistering 49.4 percent
from the field (38-for-77) and committed only seven turnovers, three games
after setting a franchise record for fewest turnovers in a game with only
four in Game 1. Oklahoma is now 7-1 this post-season and now has a chance to
knock off the last two NBA Champions in successive rounds after sweeping the
defending champion Dallas Mavericks in the first round.

The Lakers shot just 43.0 percent for the game and the defense couldn't
make any stops in the fourth quarter, and thus Los Angeles is on the verge of
bowing out of the playoffs in the second round for the second straight year
after getting swept away in this round by the Mavericks, last season. Kobe
Bryant was the game's high scorer in Game 4 with 38 points, but he was quiet
in the fourth quarter and missed a potential tying three-point attempt with
10 seconds left. He also received precious little support, although Andrew
Bynum played well enough with 18 points and nine rebounds. Pau Gasol had
another sub-par game while hitting on just four of nine field goal attempts and
finishing with 10 points and five boards, and those 10 points matched the
entire contribution of the Lakers' bench, which was a no-show once again. The
Lake Show also shot a mediocre 21-for-29, 72.4 percent from the free throw
line, and they were certainly lamenting those eight misses at game's end.

The Thunder are now 6-2 straight up and 5-2-1 against the spread in the
last eight head-to-head meetings. Something has to give here as far as the
total goes, as the 'over' is now 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, but the
'under' is 4-1 in the five meetings here in Oklahoma.

Atlanta Braves @ Cincinnati Reds - OVER 9 RUNS (+112)

Listed Pitchers: Minor vs Leake
(Note: I'm risking 2.00 units to win 2.24 units)

Lefty Mike Minor takes the mound for the Braves. He is 2-3 with a 7.09 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and .296 opponents batting average. Over his last 4 starts he has allowed 7, 8, 6, and 6 earned runs against while giving up 8+ hits in each of his last 5 starts. The Reds are hoping for back to back quality starts from pitcher Mike Leake tonight. Leake is 0-5 on the season with a 6.21 ERAm 1.59 WHIP, and .309 opponents batting average. Although last start he allowed just 1 earned run in 6 innings, he did give up 7 hits and a couple unearned runs. I can see Leake struggling against a Braves lineup that is hitting .266 against righties with a .336 OBP. Atlanta is averaging 4.92 runs per game on the road. The Reds have scored 4 or more runs in 4 of their last 5 games, and are hitting .246 against lefties with a .316 OBP. Take note that the OVER is 7-2 in the Braves last 9 games as an underdog, 16-7 in their last 23 vs a team with a winning record, and 16-7-1 in their last 24 first games of a series. The OVER is also 4-1 in Minor's last 5 road starts, and 4-0 in his last 4 starts overall. The OVER is 4-1 in the Reds last 5 home games following a road trip of 7+ days, and 5-2 in their last 7 games vs a team with a winning % above .600. The OVER is 5-1 in Leakes' last 6 starts vs a team with a winning record. Both teams aren't having much troubles at the plate and we have two struggling pitchers on the mound - take the OVER.

Los Angeles Angels @ Oakland Athletics - UNDER 7 RUNS (+104)

Listed Pitchers: Williams vs Milone
(Note: I'm risking 2.00 units to win 2.08 units)

After losing 2 of 3 in San Diego the Angels will head to Oakland to face the A's with Jerome Williams on the mound. Williams is a surprising 4-1 on the season with a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and .274 opponents batting average. He has allowed 3 or fewer earned runs against in 5 of his 7 starts. The A's also lost their interleague series vs San Francisco, but will return home with Tommy Milone on the mound. Milone is 5-3 with 4.09 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and .235 opponents batting average, but his numbers are spectacular at home. In Oakland Milone is 3-0 in 3 starts with a 0.39 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and .147 opponents batting average. He has allowed just 1 earned run in 23 innings of work at home. The Angels are scoring just 3.71 runs per game on the road, while the A's are averaging just 3.53 per game at home. LA is hitting .232 against lefties with a .292 OBP and the Athletics are hitting just .210 against righties with a .290 OBP. Take note that the UNDER is 22-8-1 in the Angels last 31 overall, and 10-4-1 in their last 15 road games. The UNDER is also 4-1 in Williams' last 5 starts overall, and 5-1 in his last 6 on 4 days rest. The UNDER is 6-2-1 in Oakland's last 9 overall, and 4-0 in their last 4 vs a team with a losing record. The UNDER is also 12-5 in their last 17 home games with a total set at 7-8.5. These two teams have met 6 times this season with Oakland winning 4 of the 6 and only 1 game getting to 7+ runs (finishing with 8 total runs). These two teams both struggle to score runs, have good pitchers on the mound and have played the UNDER in 5 of their 6 meetings this year. Take the UNDER again tonight.
