BIG AL's 86% MONDAY BASEBALL TOTALS PLAY!
At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates 'under' the total. Two of the best veteran righthanders in the N.L. Central go to the hill in Pittsburgh in this critical game for both teams as Kyle Lohse goes for the Cards and A.J. Burnett for the Pirates. The similarities between these two are quite numerous. They are both around the same age (33 for Lohse and 35 for Burnett) with roughly the same amount of Major League experience and both are having one of their best campaigns ever so far in 2012 with each of them within range to reach a new personal best for wins in a season. Burnett needs three more victories to reach his previous high of 18 (2008) while Lohse needs two more to reach his best mark of 15 (also 2008) and between them they have just six losses on the season. Both can't be victorious tonight, but we would be surprised if they didn't both pitch well, setting the stage for a low-scoring affair that may be decided by the bullpens. The under is 12-2 in Lohse's last 14 overall starts. Take the 'under.' As always, good luck...Al McMordie
