MIA +7: Not sure what the odds-makers are watching the 1st week was clearly a big game for MIAMI as they go down 14-0 early only to come roaring back and win easy. Talent is not lacking on MIA FL. On the other hand KST is not a super talented team, QB Klein is one of the few players that is a difference maker. KST doesn't have the speed to stay with MIA as MIA wins outright in our opinion so we absolutely love the pts. 5 star play

3:30 PM EST. Not only are the Irish returning from a trip overseas in which they took on Navy in Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland but this is a gross over-reaction to their 50-10 win in that contest. Also adding to this already inflated number is the Irish’s #22 ranking, playing an unranked team.

The Irish are progressing nicely under Brian Kelly’s system but in no way are they 14-points superior than the Boilermakers under unfavorable conditions.

Purdue now has the depth and talent to make a run at its first winning conference record since 2006. The defense is especially solid with seven starters and 20 lettermen returning. The Boilermakers have top-tier talent at all the key skilled positions and it showed in their opening week 48-6 blowout over Eastern Kentucky. Incidentally, EKU is a decent squad. Now we get 14 points with a confident and talented club in a game they can not only stay well within this range but one they can win outright in.

#361 Louisiana Tech -3 -107 over HOUSTON
8:00 PM EST. Last week in our late pick of the day (be sure to sign up this week), we suggested that the 36½-points that the Cougars were giving up was based on last year’s team. We sure didn’t expect Houston to lose outright but they did, by 17.

What happened on and off the field should not be ignored. Head coach Tony Levine released offensive coordinator Mike Nesbitt after Nesbitt refused to call plays that put the ball in the hands of star running back Charles Sims, despite an awful day from the passing attack and direct orders from the head coach. Sims will get the ball plenty here but the Bulldogs will be ready, as they’re well aware of last week’s debacle and the troubles that surrounded it. That was against the Texas State Bobcats, a former FCS team playing its first FBS game. Houston’s defense couldn’t get off the field and the offense went a mere 17-44 in the air.

The Bulldogs are a formidable team with excellent special teams and a veteran offense that's deep at nearly every position. Louisiana Tech has won seven straight regular season games, the fifth longest win streak in the nation. The Cougars are a train wreck and once again we get a very favorable line against a team that possesses a fraction of the talent it had a season ago.

#360 TEXAS A&M +102 over Florida
3:30 PM EST. The Aggies will play their first game as a member of the SEC after their game at Louisiana Tech was postponed due to the impact of Hurricane Isaac in the gulf region. The joint will be absolutely rocking, as these Aggies fans will pack Kyle Field to the max and won’t stop yelling until the final buzzer. That should bode well here against a Florida team that has many issues.

It takes more than talent to win in any sport. Intangibles sometimes have a bigger impact than talent. The Gators debacle last week at home against Bowling Green is another clear indication that this team is not well-prepared. Bowling Green registered 22 first downs, eight more than Florida. The Gators were whistled for 14 penalties, totaling 106 yards while barely outgaining the Falcons by 40 yards. They not only will play on the road here but they’ll take a huge step up in class when facing A&M. This isn’t an isolated incident either. Ever since Will Muschamp was hired last season, the Gators have been playing mistake-filled football. The offense is stuck in neutral with just one game of 20 first downs since week 2 of last year.

The Aggies' offense is a new system led by a redshirt freshman quarterback but both the offensive line and the skill-position units surrounding Johnny Manziel are heavy on talent, experience and leadership. Against what has to be considered the worst-prepped ranked team in some time, in a boisterous venue that will disrupt the Gators even more, the Aggies are very likely going to open with a good win. We get a small take-back at Betfair. At most other places the game is a pick-em but the Aggies are still the play.

BOWLING GREEN -16.5 over Idaho: Bowling Green is off an impressive showing in the Swamp vs the Florida Gators, as they lost by just 13 points as 28 point dogs. The Falcons are a team on the rise in the MAC, with 18 starters back, including QB Matt Schilz (3024 yrds and 28 TD’s last year), their top 3 RB’s, 4 OL and their top 8 tacklers from a year ago and they will be a very tough out for most teams on their schedule this year. Just ask Florida. Last year Idaho had a very bad, going 2-10 and they bring back just 10 starters (5 on each side of the ball) from that team. Well this year may be just as long for them. The Vandals opened their season at home vs FCS opponent Eastern Washington and were beat by a 20-3 score and were outgained in the game by a 415-237 count. Now they must take to the road and play a very improved Falcon team that was only outgained by the Gators by just 15 yards and also became just the third team in the last 4 years to out firstdown the Gators by 7 (22-14) or more at the Swamp. Bowling Green is a much improve team over last year’s edition that won by 17 points at Idaho and with this game being on their home field and with Idaho really looking bad so far, I will expect the Falcons to take this one by at least 21 points.

Notre Dame/ Purdue Over 51.5: Google News Play The Irish offense looks to be very good this year after hanging up 50 points on Navy last week and that game also showed that Brian Kelly is not afraid to put extra points on the board, even if the game is out of reach. The Irish tallied 490 yards last week and will look to keep it going this week vs a Purdue defense that will be average at best this year. Last year Purdue had 9 starters back on defense yet still allowed 26.8 ppg after allowing 28.8 ppg in 2010 and 29.1 ppg in 2011. The Boilers really never have great defense and the Iraish should be able to score big points on them here. Purdue offense is improved over last year, with 8 starters back and QB Caleb TerBush could have a very nice afternoon vs an Irish secondary that did not play well vs a Navy team last week that just doesn't throw the ball much. Notre Dame's secondary is their weakness on this team and that should allow Purdue to put up a bunch of points of their own. I look for this one to hit near 60 points.

East Carolina +21.5 over SOUTH CAROLINA: Connor Shaw is really the only option that South Carolina has at QB and he is dinged up and is a game time decision for this one. Last week the Gamecocks used a run heavy offensive gameplan, due to the return of Lattimore and the fact that Shaw is not a great QB. Last year when these teams met Connor was just 3-9 for 29 yards and SC was down 17-0 before Spurrier benched him in favor of Garcia. Despite his problems, Shaw is their only option, as Dylan Thompson did not look very good last week, and I feel that will really lead to a conservative gameplan from Spurrier as he looks to just get out of this game healthy. That means running the ball with Lattimore and working the clock and that should allow a very good East Carolina offense to put enough points on the board to keep this one close. The Pirates are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games vs Ranked teams and I expect that trend to continue here.

Florida -1 over TEXAS A&M: I know that A&M is playing its first home game in their new conference, so emotions will be running high, but I don’t feel that their emotional status will be enough to overcome the better talent that the Gators have. The Aggies have a very good offense, but they are breaking in a new QB and don’t have thye luxury of play gthose weak Big 12 defenses this year. Both A&M and Missouri will find that the SEC defenses are very tough and will find it hard at times to move the ball on them. The Aggies will find out in their first game. The Gators have 10 starters back from a group that allowed just 20.3 ppg last year. Overall this group brings back 234 of 27 lettermen and 15 of their top 16 tacklers from a year ago and they have already had a game under their belt, while A&M and new QB Johnny Manziel, who is just a redshirt freshmen. The Aggies do have a solid OL, but have also lost their top rusher and 2 of their top 4 pass catchers from last year. I do not see them putting up a bunch of points on this Gators defense. Last week the Florida offense looked like they struggled vs Bowling Green, but OC Brent Pease was ordered to sandbag the play calling as to not show the Aggies too much. This week they will open it up more and should have good success vs an Aggie defense that returns just 6 starters and 4 of their top 9 tacklers from a unit that allowed 28.2 ppg. The Gators are the better team here and while the Aggies will have the crowd behind them I fell it won’t be enough to overcome the talent edge that Florida has on both sides of the ball.

I actually do not believe this game will be within 10 points. Missouri is the better team. Georgia is the name, Missouri is the better team. They are more balanced, they are home playing in their first SEC game ever so it will be emotional there and they are the team with something to prove.

Georgia was not really dominant over Buffalo at home last week as they allowed 4.4 yards per rush against a bad Bulls team. Also, Georgia will most likely be without 4 starters for this game.

Missouri will control both side of the ball and win this game something like 38-24 or 41-31, somewhere in that area. Take Missouri

Its college game-day once again and with that are a lot of opportunities on todays card.* I am going to follow the same format as last weekend.* I will be releasing my early games now and will release the later games in a few hours.* Best of luck to everyone.

Take Mississippi St Bulldogs -3 over Auburn Tigers:* 1 Unit Play

Auburn is coming off of a tough loss to Clemson last weekend in a game where they gave up 300+ yards to the Clemson spread offense.* Their defense was gashed for chunks of yards at a time and somewhat looked loss in their coverage.* What I like about this game is that Miss St runs the same style of spread option as Clemson did.* If Auburn can't shore up their protection, Miss St will run all over this defense.* Auburn also narrowly pulled out a victory against Miss St at home last year in a game where Auburn stopped QB Chris Relf on the 1 yard line.* This is a revenge game for Miss St and being at home only helps their cause.* Miss St should win this game by at least 6 points.*

I was thoroughly impressed with Miami last week when they went into Boston College and rallied from 14 points down to come out with the 41-32 win on the road.* This week they travel back on the road to Kansas State.* K-state is a good team there is no doubt about it, Colin Klein is coming into his own and is developing his passing game however K state was struggling offensively through 3 quarters against Missouri St.* Yes they won that game 51-9 but the final score doesn't really tell the story of the game.* If K State has another slow start today against Miami, they could be in trouble. *The difference maker in this game is going to be Miami freshman RB *Duke Johnson.* Johnson had a breakout game last where where he went 133 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 7 carries.*Getting the ball only 7 times and putting up those kinds of numbers is something this K State team will really need to look at. If Miami gets Johnson going early, and K State doesn't cover him*Miami has a real chance to pull the upset.* Take the points, this should be a close game.

Analysis: San Diego fell victim to some odd coaching decisions in their opening 21-12 loss at Washington but played better than expected after losing QB Lindley to the NFL. They return home to host Army which is making its season debut. Although San Diego State is down this season after back to bak Bowl seasons they still have edges over the Cadets, whose ability to recruit football players is rather limited. SDSU coach Long is noted for his defense and the defense played decently in 2011, Long's first season. Army has long been known as a running-only team and 2011 was no exception. Army averaged barely 50 passing yards per game, topping 100 yards just twice, both in losses. The price is low enough to expect a better effort in game 2 from the Aztecs and they are stepping down in class as well. SDSU has a home game against an FCS foe next week while Army returns home for a revenge game against Northern Illinois, who defeated the Cadets 49-26 in last season's opener. San Diego State wins by from 10 to 14 points.
