triple-dime bet 961 HOU / 962 STL Over 7.5 Hilton
Analysis:

Lucas Harrell is the one Houston pitcher I like - but only when he pitches at home. Harrell has a 5.06 road ERA compared to a 2.26 ERA at Minute Maid Park.

I see Harrell struggling again on the road against a Cardinals team that has most of its best hitters back healthy.

I also see Houston putting up runs against Lance Lynn, who except for his last start has been brutal since the All-Star break.

To get this total at less than eight runs is a bargain, especially€ with the wind blowing out at around 13 mph.

The over is 10-2-1 the past 13 times these teams have met. Mike Estabrook is slated to be behind the plate. There have been more overs than unders the last two years Estabrook has been the home plate umpire.

3 UNIT PLAY

BUFFALO -4 over Kent State: Neither team has a common opponent yet but both teams have played an SEC team and I feel that Buffalo was more impressive in their loss than Kent was in theirs. Trailing by 24-6 in the first half the Bulls scored the final 10 points to pull within 8 at the half vs a powerful Georgia squad. The Bulls put up 23 points and 347 yards vs them, including 199 yards on the ground. The Bulls lost by just 22 points in that game covering the spread by 16 points. Kent State faced a much weaker SEC squad in Kentucky and were blown out by 33 points, as 6.5 dogs. They were outgained by 130 yards in the game and were outgained by 39 yards in their 20 point win over Towson to open the season. They are not playing all that well and to make matters worse they just lost CB Norman Wolfe (8 Career INT's) for the year. The Flashes still havce a solid defense but will struggle on offense and just won't be able to put up enough points to keep this one close vs a Bulls team that has averaged 39.5 ppg, played better vs tougher SEC competition and is at home. Bulls by at least a TD in this one. KEY TREND--- Kent State is 3-35 SU and 8-28-1 ATS vs opponents that are off a SU win of 20 or more points.

I watched Buffalo hang tough at Georgia in its 45-23 season-opening loss. The Bulls were within one possession (24-16) at halftime and that was with UGA getting a TD on a 100-yard kickoff return. Buffalo has one of the MAC's premier running back in Branden Oliver, who rushed 30 times for 111 yards and one TD in Athens. Then in a 56-32 win over Morgan St. in Week 2, Oliver rushed for 239 yards and two scores on 25 carries. Oliver is averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Buffalo QB Alex Zordich has completed 30-of-45 passes for 385 yards with a 5/1 TD-INT ratio. He also has 93 rushing yards and one TD. Give me the short home favorite against a Kent St. team that couldn't hang tough with the SEC's worst team, losing 47-14 at Kentucky.

College football Wednesday presents Kent State vs. SUNY-Buffalo. I like the OVER. Knowing how these two teams match up I see real value in the total. Before you BET it, make sure you GET it. I am talking about finding real specific value and being highly selective. See the cashier.

L.A. ANGELS -119 over Texas
While we might usually consider Derek Holland vs. C.J. Wilson a wash, current form shows that Holland is 1-3 with a 7.04 ERA in his last five starts in Anaheim.

The red-hot Angels are laying a cheap price here against a team they’ve defeated at home five out of seven games this season. The Halos took the opener last night, 11-3 and have now won 15 of their past 20 games. In September, L.A. has a league leading 2.17 ERA and the last time C.J. Wilson faced his former team he didn’t allow a run in 6.2 innings.

There’s also a good chance that Josh Hamilton will miss this game, as he left last night’s contest with a serious sinus infection and he’s also been nursing a bum knee. Take away his 42 jacks plus his presence in the lineup and it certainly hurts this intruder’s chances. The Angels are the hottest team in the majors. They’re getting tremendous production at the plate and outstanding pitching from both starters and relievers. The Halos are just 3 games out of a Wild Card spot and the AL is on notice.
Our PickL.A. ANGELS -119 (Risking 2.38 units - To Win: 2.00)

Minnesota +124 over CLEVELAND
Obviously both teams are just playing out the string but Ron Gardenhire managed teams are expected to give it their all and that’s precisely what we’ll get. The Indians stopped playing after the all-star break. It’s also worth noting that Minnesota has scored the third most runs in the league in September.

There’s more reason for the Twinkies to get motivated here. Liam Hendricks has started 18 games in his career and he has yet to win a single one of them. His teammates will dig down deep here to get him that illusive first major league win. Why he's on our radar even with a rough, brief career is a 1.74 ERA with outstanding command at A-ball in 2010, a 3.22 ERA at AA in 2011 and a 1.94 ERA in seven starts at Triple AAA Rochester earlier this year. He was probably rushed (less than 50 IP above AA prior to this year) but the exceptional control and good groundball rate are encouraging.

Both of Zach McAllister's starts against the Twins this season have been short and ugly. He allowed nine runs in 1.2 innings of a 14-3 loss August 6. On September 8, he threw 87 pitches, walked three batters and gave up three runs in three innings before being yanked. McAllister has an 8.42 ERA over his last four starts and his last win came on August 11. Look for the Twins to respond to Hendricks plight and once again beat a Cleveland team that has dropped 25 of its last 32.
Our PickMinnesota +124 (Risking 2 units - To Win: 2.48)

Kent State Golden Flashes vs. Buffalo Bulls

Wednesday night MAC action kicks off for 2012 this week when the Buffalo Bulls (1-1, 1-1 ATS) host the Kent State Golden Flashes (1-1, 1-1 ATS) at University of Buffalo Stadium in Buffalo, NY at 7:00 ET in a game televised nationally on ESPNU. Neither team has beaten an FBS team yet, although Buffalo did cover the spread in a 45-23 loss at Georgia before beating Morgan State out of the FCS 56-34 last week. Kent State opened with a win over Towson, but lost its first FBS test badly 47-14 last week at Kentucky.

The Golden Flashes did compile 409 total yards despite scoring only 14 points against the Wildcats and they actually made a game of it for a little more than a half, trailing only 17-14 after scoring the first points after halftime, only to get outscored by Kentucky 30-0 the rest of the way. Kent State committed only one turnover in the game, but the Flashes were done in by three failed fourth down conversions with two of those coming inside the Kentucky 10-yard line. Quarterback Spencer Keith completed 28-of-43 passes for 227 yards while Trayion Durham paced the running attack with 87 rushing yards on just 16 carries. Unfortunately the Kent defense permitted 539 yards, but the good news is that it is stepping down in class this week after taking on that SEC opponent. The bad news is that Kent State lost its starting cornerback Norman Wolfe for quite a while with a broken arm. The senior has eight interceptions in his career and his absence should make things easier for Buffalo quarterback Alex Zordich, who has completed 60 percent of his passes this season.

Zordich has completed 30-of-45 passes for 385 yards and five touchdowns against just one interception in two games, and he had the Bulls within eight points of fifth ranked Georgia at halftime of the season opener. Buffalo apparently gained a lot from the game as it then ran up 571 yards vs. Morgan State, and although that was vs. an FCS school, the Kent State defense it is facing here is not much better, ranking 90th in the country in total defense while surrendering 427.5 yards per game including an even 300.0 passing yards, and much of that came before Wolfe was injured. The Bulls also rank 17th in the country in rushing offense with 252.5 yards per game on the ground, and Brandon Oliver was a monster last week while rushing for 237 yards in 25 carries (a whopping 9.5 YPC) with two touchdowns. While the Buffalo offense could give Kent fits, note that the Buffalo defense ranks just 88th in total defense, although that is deceptive considering the Bulls faced one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC on opening week and the 366 yards they allowed last week was mainly because they were playing with a big lead most of the game,

Kent State has not been a good road team, going 3-9 ATS in its last 12 road contests, but Buffalo has not been the best of favorites either, going just 3-8-1 ATS the last 12 games when giving points. The underdogs have gone 4-0-1 ATS in the last five head-to-head meetings.
