Larry Ness' 10* PERFECT STORM-NFL (9-2, 82% s/NFL 2011)
My 10* PERFECT STORM is on the Pit Steelers at 1:00 ET.

We all are well aware of the 2012 Eagles. They sit atop the NFC East at 3-1 but the team has ‘escaped’ with a 17-16 Week 1 at Cleveland, a 24-23 Week 2 win at home vs the Ravens and a 19-17 Week 4 win last Sunday night at home vs the Giants. The Eagles were ‘roughed up’ at Arizona in Week 3, losing 27-6 to the Cardinals. There is plenty of talent on both sides of the ball in Philadelphia but no one is sure just what to make of this team. Vick;’s made bad decisions at QB plus has been hurt by the poor play of a highly questionable OL. He entered the game last Sunday night with six INTs and three lost fumbles through three games, but managed to stay turnover-free (as did the entire team). That said, the Eagles still barely edged the Giants and that was with a 123-yard effort from RB McCoy. McCoy also ran for 110 yards in Week 1 vs the Browns but in Weeks 2 & 3, the very talented RB was held to a total of just 151 yards rushing. My point is simple, the Eagles are extremely difficult to figure out. However, the team's win over the Giants was nothing new, as the Eagles have now beaten their NFC East rivals in SIX of the last seven meetings, going back to 2009 season. Here’s something we can say with certainty about the Eagles. These last three years, they’ve struggled mightily ATS in their first game after playing the Giants, going only 1-5ATS! The Steelers are coming off a bye and the team has to be pretty anxious about getting back on the field. When last in action, Pittsburgh TWICE gave away 10-point leads in Oakland, losing to the sad-sack Raiders 34-31 in Week 3. The Pittsburgh “D’ may only be allowing 291.3 YPG (5th-best) but Pittsburgh has allowed 31 points at Denver and 34 at Oakland. The good news is that the Steelers will be at full strength on Sunday for the first time this season. Linebacker James Harrison and safety Troy Polamalu completed a full week of practice on Friday and they are both expected to play against the Eagles. Harrison had minor surgery on his left knee in August and will see his first action of 2012 while Polamalu will play for the first time since a season-opening loss in Denver, after being sidelined with a calf injury. More good news comes in that RB Rashard Mendenhall will also make his 2012 debut for Pittsburgh. Mendenhall is a two-time 1,000-yard rusher and has has been practicing for more than three weeks, recovering from tearing his right ACL last January 1. He’s needed badly, as the Steelers rank 2nd-to-last in rushing yards per game (65.0) and last in YPC (2.6) through four weeks. However, here’s the bottom line. Big Ben is 25-5 his last 30 home games with a TD-to-INT ratio of 45-15! Roethlisberger is also, 13-1 in home games against NFC opponents and the Steelers have been a PERFECT 6-0 SU & ATS when playing at home and coming off a loss in their previous game, since the beginning of the 2010 season. Pittsburgh hasn’t just won and covered those six contests, the Steelers have totally DOMINATED their opponents in them. Starting with this year’s Week 2 home game against the Jets, with Pittsburgh coming off its 31-19 Week 1 loss at Denver. Pittsburgh fell behind early but won 27-10, holding the Jets to just 219 yards for the game. I don’t have room to break down each of the other five games in this 6-0 run but let me list the final scores, to show the complete domination. Pittsburgh has followed SU losses (when playing its next game at home) 27-0 and 24-0 in 2011 and 27-3, 35-3 and 28-10 in 2010. Again, that’s 6-0 SU & ATS with by the combined scores of 168-26! Lay the reasonable spot with Pittsburgh!
