On Sunday we split going 1-1 for a small loss on the day.

Monday, November 5th
50* - Golden State Warriors +2

Analysis: Golden State comes into this game with an impressive 2-1 record to start the year. Golden State's sole loss to this point was against a very impressive Memphis team. On the other spectrum the Sacramento Kings are off to an unsuprisingly bad start at 0-3. The Kings have been out rebounded in every game this year and had a -20 rebound disadvantage against Indiana last game. The Kings are also shooting a dismal 45.7 percent from inside the paint so far. The Kings are at home for this one, but I don't consider that much of an advantage in this game. The Sacramento crowd will be non-existent tonight and being that the teams are in-state rivals the one hour flight shouldn't affect the Warriors very much. The Warriors have dominated this series and I don't see an end to this trend anytime soon. Look for Stephen Curry to have a big game.
Our 50* selections are 5-0 in 2012.

It has been an ugly season for the Saints but New Orleans has won two of the last three games including beating San Diego and Tampa Bay, two teams with respectable records. The 0-4 start can certainly be partially attributed to the off-season mess and the coaching carousel and the Saints may emerge as a play-on team the rest of the year. The defense has taken a lot of heat with league-worst numbers but new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo runs a pretty complicated scheme and his players should be starting to figure things out at this point. Look for the defensive numbers to improve in the coming weeks as there are still good players on the roster. Facing an underachieving turnover prone Eagles offense could be a good formula for success as Philadelphia has not topped 24 points all season long. Facing constant criticism and speculation Andy Reid and Michael Vick are under great pressure this week but it has been a tough week in the Philadelphia area with the impact in the region from Hurricane Sandy. The losses for the Saints have all been close games with the exception of the Denver game, while the Eagles have been out-gained by 90+ yards in each of the last three games. Off the bye week Philadelphia played its worst game last week at home against Atlanta and with the struggles of the offensive line the running game and the short passing game have disappeared. New Orleans is still one of the most explosive offenses in the league and with Jimmy Graham closer to 100 percent the offense should have more big play opportunities even with Darren Sproles out of action. The Saints are 13-3 ATS in the last 16 home games and while two of those losses came this season they finally meet a team that is even more dysfunctional. New Orleans has out-scored Philadelphia by 10 points per game and while statistically the Eagles are much better on defense Philadelphia is still allowing over 22 points per game and trending in the wrong direction. It is a do-or-die game for both teams but the home team with the more reliable quarterback should have more opportunities and the NFL chalk weekend can continue into Monday.

The Saints' season. Michael Vick's starting job. A lot is at stake in this matchup and these two desperate teams are going to attack with everything they have. The Eagles have dumbed-down their offense to try to limit Vick's turnovers. That's not the right approach because Vick is ineffective when playing tentative. The Eagles are going to turn Vick loose to see if they can indeed win with him and live with his reckless style. I see Vick coming up big - aided by going against a defense that is on pace to allow the most yards in a single season. The Saints can't rush the passer and ranked second to last in pass defense entering this week. Their run defense rates even worse - being last giving up 170.1 yards on the ground. New Orleans is giving up an average of five yards per carry. Only the Bills have given up more rushing touchdowns. LeSean McCoy is one of the top five running backs in football. So all the pressure isn't on Vick. The Saints won't be able to key just on Vick. While the Saints are giving up 30.9 points per game, they also are averaging 27.1 points and feature the No. 1 passing attack. Drew Brees is especially effective when playing inside the fast track of the Louisiana Superdome where he's thrown 29 touchdown passes in his last eight home games. The Saints, thanks to Brees, are averaging 37.7 points in these past eight home games. The Eagles switched defensive coordinators during their bye two weeks ago. They found last week that it's their players and not the scheme that is bad. The Falcons scored on their first six possessions against the Eagles last week. The Eagles don't generate much of a pass rush and their secondary is vastly overrated particularly Nnamdi Asomugha. The Eagles can't stop high-powered passing attacks, especially on the road on carpet. Don't be intimidated by this big total. It would be a surprise if either of these teams didn't put up at least 28 points.

Eagles (+3) over Saints

8:30 PM -- Mercedes-Benz Superdome
Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) +3 over NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (2-5) Prediction: Eagles by 6-7 Starting Time: 8:40 TV: ESPN Comments: What a mess these two teams are. The once-proud Saints have struggled all season to stay alive, victimized by the so-called bounty scandal that put them behind the eight-ball before they played their first game—and things have gone downhill from there. The Philadelphia Eagles began the season as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl but then fell apart when they lost two starting offensive linemen, Pro-Bowl tackle Jason Peters and center Jason Kelee. And that brings us to tonight’s game that in reality is a tossup. The Eagles will try to do a better job of protecting quarterback Michael Vick (he has been sacked 20 times in seven games this season, compared with 23 times in 13 games last season) and exploit a Saints defense that can stop nobody and that has become the first NFL team in 60 years to give up more than 400 yards of offense in seven straight games. Heading into this game, New Orleans is giving up an NFL-worst 474.7 yards per game and are ranked 30th in points allowed at 30.9 per game. It also is an important factor New Orleans will be without game-breaking running back and return specialist Darren Sproles who is out with a hand injury. The bottom line says the Saints have many more problems than does Philadelphia and the figures point to a straight up Eagles win.
Game is being played inside a dome.

Philadelphia Eagles-NEW ORLEANS SAINTS Over 52 Points Prediction: 58 or more points will be scored Comments: Neither of these teams shows much interest in playing defense and the figures say the guy managing the scoreboard will be dizzy before the night is over.

MONDAY NIGHT NFL POWER PLAY! - spartan

spartan | NFL Side Mon, 11/05/12 - 8:40 PM
double-dime bet 440 NOS -3.0 (+100) Hilton vs 439 PHI
Analysis: First of all for all my clients who love those nice trends to help them pull the trigger. I usually oblige but I am not going to apply those trends to this game. I just think you almost have to throw this season out as far as the Saints and past trends. With all the bounty gate fiasco and with Peyton being sidelined for a year from coaching I just think it's silly to apply the past several years of Saints football to this one. Just wanted to get that out of the way. Now, as far as this football game itself what we have are two clubs de‘sperate for a victory here. I used to have a coach who loved to say to us, tonight we're going to see who wants it the most. Well, I think that is very much applicable here. I like Andy Reid, I've followed his career since he was an assistant here at Mizzou, but I am getting the feeling it's time for a fresh start in Philly. I don't care what anyone says that club quit last week against Atlanta. They showed little to no heart when the chips were down. I know, I've heard all about the closed door, players only meeting. That's pretty much was all desperate clubs do. Sometimes it provides a jolt for the first few series, sometimes not even that. It comes down to execution and playing hard nosed, solid football. I don't think the Eagles can sustain that for an entire game on the road. Of course on the flip side we're talking about them dealing with the Saints here who clearly have their own soap opera going. But I'll side with Drew Brees here over Vick any day of the week guys. I look for Brees to be back in his comfort zone back in the dome where he has had so many great games and frankly he should torch that Eagles defense all night if given sufficient time. And given that miserable Eagles pass rush I don't see that being an issue. Okay, you can clearly see where this one is going. Neither team will be playing past the regular season but for this one night the Saints will enable their loyal fans to depart the dome in a festive mood. I say we go Double Star on the New Orleans Saints laying the field goal. Many sincere thanks as always fellas and best of luck to us. Enjoy the game!!

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES +3 (-120)

We keep doing the same thing in these NFL games & it just keeps working. We're simply grabbing the points with the better defensive team. The Saints defense has been absolutely horrible this season. They couldn't even hold a lead against the lowly Chiefs in this building. The Saints are allowing a whopping 474.7 yards per game, 5 yards per rush, and a 109.1 QB rating. They simply can't stop anything.

Michael Vick called a players-only meeting a few days ago & I have to believe the Eagles "circle the wagons" tonight. This isn't a "must win" game for Philly, but it's not far from it. I‰ expect a solid game from Vick & shifty RB LeSean "Shady" McCoy. I'm calling it EAGLES 27, Saints 24.

PHILADELPHIA -4 -105 over New York
How can this be? The Knicks are 2-0 after back-to-back 16-point wins to open the year. As a 3½-point choice yesterday over these same Sixers, the Knicks went wire-to-wire in an easy win and now they’re taking back 4 points? It sure looks appealing, especially when you consider that the Knicks have hit 30 of 63 triples to open the year.

The 76ers are 1-1 on the year and have not looked particularly sharp at all, even in its season-opening win over Denver. Philly is without two of its key players in Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson. We’re not privy to this information. Injuries are factored into the line. Everyone is aware how sharp the Knicks look and how ordinary the 76ers have performed. Forget all that. This line will have the masses on New York and as enticing as it appears, we know better. Sometimes the line dictates the play and that’s precisely the situation here for Philly, as the Knicks look, “too good to be true”.

Our Pick PHILADELPHIA -4 -105 (Risking 2.1 units - To Win: 1.90)

3-Unit Play #515 Take Cleveland/LA Clippers OVER 197 (10:30 p.m. EST, Monday)
The Clippers have upped the tempo this season and it is working for them. This team has lots of offensive weapons and a very deep bench and we are pretty confident they will be one of the highest scoring teams in the NBA when all is said and done. While this team routinely struggled during stretches last season when they would fail to get out of the 80s, we think this team will be hitting the century mark more often this season. Scores in the 100s for Clippers box scores should be a regular thing. In fact, the Clip Show have surpassed the century mark in all three of their games this season and two of those games, against Memphis and the LA Lakers, were against top defensive clubs. Cleveland is not a good defensive team. They are allowing an average of 101 PPG through three games and we just think that the Clippers will put on an offensive show tonight, especially coming off a disappointing home loss against the Warriors. We think the Clippers should get over 105 tonight and the Cavs should be able to make up the difference to get this one over the number. We had this line handicapped at 201 so there is some very nice value present here in our opinion.

4-Unit Play. #505. Take Over 193.5 Minnesota vs. Brooklyn (Monday @ 7:35pm est).

With Minnesota getting hammered against Toronto yesterday, I like them to bounce-back here on the road against the Nets. The Nets are now a team that you get up to play for which is a positive for an underdog looking to push this game over the posted total. If Minnesota had won against Toronto then we might not have played this game. But, since Minnesota lost against Toronto and they will look to bounce-back, this is a good spot here. With Brooklyn coming off a win against Toronto in their last game, this is a good spot for them to have a bit of a let down defensively, but more importantly, their offense will be in more sync this second game as compared to the first game. The Nets have a decent bench that looks to push the ball with the likes of Watson and company so an over is not a bad play here. The Over is 12-4 for the Timberwolves when they face a team with a winning percentage of greater than 60% on the road (meaning the better teams in the league) and the Over is 5-1 when the Nets face a team with a losing record at home (meaning that underdogs are active underdogs in New Jersey).
