507 NOH 7.0 (-110) 5dimes vs 508 LAL
Analysis: I'm taking the points with the Hornets on Tuesday night. New Orleans has been a serious money maker over the last three weeks, going 9-3 ATS, including 7-1 ATS when getting points. The Lakers have won their last two games, playing an unselfish brand of basketball, especially Kobe Bryant, who has dished out 14 assists in each of their last two games. But with the wins, we now have a case of "here we go again." The Lakers are over-valued as they have been for so many years. They're also off the big win over OKC on Sunday and embark on a 7-game road trip following Tuesday's contest. And let's not forget the Lakers looked great in a 2-game win streak in mid-January, before losing each of their next four games by nearly 10 points per game on average. New Orleans is playing hard each and every night and they're on an 8-4 SU run in their last 12 games. Ryan Anderson presents matchup problems because of his size (6'10) and the fact he takes about 8 3-pointers per game. The Hornets also could present the Lakers with problems inside with Anthony Davis and Robin Lopez challenging L.A….'s weakness...defending the paint. The Hornets are on a 4-0 ATS run on the road to go along with their 7-1 ATS underdog run mentioned above. Meanwhile, the over-valued Lakers have covered just 8 of their last 26 off a SU win and they're 15-35-2 ATS against teams with a losing SU record. I'm taking the points with New Orleans as they look to extend their run against the Lakers in Los Angeles to 11-3 ATS. Thanks! GL! Scott Spreitzer.

triple-dime bet 512 Virginia -2.5 (-110) BetOnline vs 511 North Carolina St.
Analysis: I'm laying the short points with Virginia on Tuesday. When NC State knocked off North Carolina over the weekend, it marked the first time since the 2002-03 campaign that the Wolfpack defeated both the Heels and Duke in the same season. NC State got UNC in early foul trouble, specifically James Michael McAdoo, and opened a 45-26 halftime lead. However, it should be noted that the Pack didn't get to cruise to an easy win. They had to stay focused throughout after the Heels closed the gap to 85-80 late in the second half. Now, NC State must regroup in a hurry a„nd get over themselves with the matchup in Charlottesville, where the Virginia Cavaliers are 12-0 SU & 9-0-1 ATS. Virginia has been playing Tony Bennett basketball "to a tee." They're outscoring their "guests" by nearly 20 points per contest, allowing just 46.6 ppg. The Cavs average nearly 25 made baskets per game at home on 49.3% shooting, while holding the opposition to 16.6 made baskets per game on 33% shooting. I like a team that plays fierce defense without sacrificing their shot on the offensive end - and that's Virginia. They hit 42.7% of their 3-pointers, while allowing just 4.2 of 17.2 to the opposition and face a Wolfpack team that has made just 30% of their treys on the road. The Cavs also force more than twice as many turnovers per game than assists allowed (14.5 - 7). NC State, off the emotional win, is in for a rough one, in my opinion. They're 1-3 SU/ATS on the road this season. The Pack, who scored 91 points against UNC, have covered just 1 of their last 8 after scoring 90 or more points. Meanwhile, besides their 9-0-1 ATS home mark this season, the Cavs are 6-0-1 ATS against teams playing better than .600 basketball no matter where the games have been played and they're on a 6-1 ATS run in this series. I'm laying the points with Virginia, my Tapout on Tuesday. Thanks! GL! Scott Spreitzer.

Study Group: Tuesday's Top 25 NCB Betting Notes

Check out our quick-hitting betting notes on all of Tuesday’s ranked college basketball games:

Wisconsin at (11) Ohio State (-6)

The Badgers started 4-0 in conference play and then lost back-to-back games before edging Minnesota 45-44 on Saturday. Tough defense is a Wisconsin program staple and the Badgers have held consecutive opponents under 50 points for the first time since the 2009-10 campaign. Wisconsin held Michigan State to a season-low 49 points and then limited Minnesota to its season-worst output. The Buckeyes have won back-to-back outings and are 11-1 at home. The Badgers are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games.

(19) N.C. State at Virginia (-2)

In its win over North Carolina last weekend, North Carolina State often found little resistance and seemingly scored at will. Points figure to be a bit more at a premium when the high-flying Wolfpack hit the road in an attempt to solve one of the nation’s top defenses in Virginia. North Carolina State – the sixth-highest scoring team in the country – will likely be forced to play a much slower pace against the Cavaliers, who own the nation’s second-best scoring defense and are 12-1 at home this season. Virginia has held 16 opponents – including all six ACC foes – to less than 60 points and allowed no more than 64 points in any game. The Wolfpack are 1-6 ATS in their last seven meetings.

Indiana State at (14) Wichita State (-12.5)

Wichita State is 12-0 at home this season with nine of the victories coming by double digits. The Shockers suffered a blow when sophomore guard Evan Wessel recently underwent season-ending hand surgery. Freshman guard Ron Baker (foot) is also sidelined but the Shockers recently got back senior forward Carl Hall from a thumb injury that sidelined him seven games. The Sycamores have won three of four games, including a 59-58 victory over Northern Iowa on Saturday when Jake Odum hit two free throws with 0.3 seconds remaining. Indiana State is 6-1 ATS in its last seven road games.

Kentucky at (16) Mississippi (-1.5)

Mississippi will put the SEC’s longest current winning streak on the line when the Rebels host Kentucky. Ole Miss is 6-0 in conference play for the first time in school history with nine straight wins overall. The Rebels enter the week as the nation’s fifth-highest scoring team (80.3) but are a combined 23-for-50 from the free-throw line in the last two games. Kentucky has a pair of 6-10 forwards in Kyle Wiltjer and Nerlens Noel, but will likely be without 7-foot freshman Willie Cauley-Stein, who missed the last three games with a knee injury. Noel has been playing especially well lately, earning SEC Freshman of the Week honors the last two weeks. The Wildcats are 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.

Nebraska at (24) Minnesota (-20)

After a 15-1 start made the Golden Gophers a trendy pick to contend for the Big Ten title, a four-game losing streak has put Minnesota below .500 in the conference. Coach Tubby Smith was thought to have assembled one of the conference's premier offenses, but consecutive 48- and 44-point performances make that seem like a distant era. The Cornhuskers have won two of their last three Big Ten contests. But playing ranked opponents on the road has been unkind to Nebraska as its lost to Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State away from home - all by double digits. Nebraska is 4-1 ATS in its last five games versus a team with a winning record.

Whether or not NC State beats North Carolina. Obviously, there would be a letdown
if they do, but when a home team is allowing only 50 ppg, 19 fewer than the visitor,
it doesn’t matter who the visitor played and/or beat previously. There is a style contrast
that favors the competent home side, which will only be favored by tad.

With David Lee coming up big on a daily basis, Golden State has been one of the better

The Bucks already have reached double digit in road wins, including posting recent

just returned from a three-game road trip that ended Sunday so their focus could be

Okay, we’ll admit it. Our ‘State vs. Carolina’ cover headline was
just a big tease: THIS is the spot where we plan to get involved
with Mark Gottfried’s Wolfpack – by FADING them off their huge
LTKO revenger against the Tar Heels on Saturday. Though North
Carolina’s rivalry with Duke always dominates the ACC headlines,
NC State and UNC despise each other with such intensity that
they seldom have anything left after slugging it out – particularly
the Pack, who have gone 0-8 SUATS versus an avenging foe
after facing the Heels (where else are you going to fi nd stats
like this other than in the Playbook!). And when we compare
recent ATS results between today’s combatants, UVA looks like a
team that just won the pointspread lottery. Despite the fact that
they’re looking to get even for an LTKO loss to State in last year’s
ACC tourney, the Cavs have cashed in six of the previous seven
meetings with the Wolfpack (3-0 SUATS in the last three regular
season games). They’re also 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in the series when
playing with revenge. But that’s not all: the Wahoos have gone
8-1 ATS after battling Boston College and they’ve defended their
home court well this season, standing 8-1-1 ATS at press time.

Tony Bennett’s troops play a tough brand of defense (ranked No.
6 in national Defensive Field Goal Percentage – 36.4), not good
news for a Wolfpack squad that managed a feeble 50 points
in a loss at Maryland two weeks ago. Toss in the fact that the
hosts are a perfect 6-0 SUATS versus greater-than .600 foes this
campaign and we see only one way to go here. Wahoo!

Jim Feist Take: High Roller Powerhouse Total: Warriors/Cavs over the total.

Golden State is playing the second of a back to back road spot, so look for Cleveland to run right at them. The over is 5-1 in the Warriors last 6 road games. That's fine with the young Warriors, a team that is 9th in the NBA in points scored, but 21st in defense. They gave up 109 points in a loss at Milwaukee last weekend and now take on a young, uptempo Cleveland offense led by sparkplug G Kyrie Irving. The over is 19-7 in the Cavaliers last 26 games playing on 2 days rest and 4-1 over against a team with a winning percentage above .600. And when these teams meet the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings. Play the Warriors/Cavs over the total.

Flyers at Rangers: What Bettors Need to Know

Philadelphia Flyers at New York Rangers (-165, 5.5)

The Philadelphia Flyers secured their first win of the season at the expense of the New York Rangers. The Flyers will look to get the better of their Atlantic Division rival for second time in six days when they visit Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. Coach Peter Laviolette's club will need to put forth a better effort than the one it produced in its last outing. Tampa Bay drilled Philadelphia by scoring five unanswered goals en route to a 5-1 victory Sunday.

New York also knows a thing or two about five unanswered goals, having netted that many in a 5-2 triumph over fellow Original Six rival Toronto on Saturday. Marian Gaborik collected two goals and as many assists as the Rangers scored four times in the third period. That offensive firepower was noticeably absent in New York's 2-1 setback to Philadelphia on Thursday.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, CSN Philadelphia, MSG (New York)

ABOUT THE FLYERS (2-4-0, 2-3-0 over/under): Michael Leighton's season debut left a lot to be desired. Playing in his first NHL game since the 2011 playoffs, Leighton yielded all five goals - including a couple soft ones - to the Lightning. Ilya Bryzgalov is expected to return to the crease Tuesday. The 32-year-old Russian stopped 18 shots to record only his second career victory in seven starts (2-5-0) versus the Rangers.

ABOUT THE RANGERS (2-3-0, 3-2-0 over/under): Although the celebrated top line of Gaborik, Brad Richards and Rick Nash collected eight points against the Maple Leafs, it was nowhere to be found versus the Flyers. "We're not getting enough good plays from our top guys," coach John Tortorella said after that game. "... I thought we got some good shifts, but our top guys - Gabby, Richards, Nasher - just have to get going more." Gaborik had the lone assist on Taylor Pyatt's goal in the loss.

TRENDS:

* Over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in New York.
* Flyers are 1-8 in the last nine meetings.
* Flyers are 0-4 in the last four meetings in New York.

OVERTIME:

1. After reaching an agreement with the team Saturday, veteran free agent C Jason Arnott failed his physical, according to TSN.ca and ESPNNewYork.com. The 38-year-old has played in 1,244 games during his 18-year career.

2. RW Wayne Simmonds, who had a goal and an assist versus the Rangers, has four points to share the team lead with captain Claude Giroux and RW Matt Read.

3. The Rangers had won eight straight against the Flyers prior to Thursday's loss.

NHL: Analyzing the betting numbers to this point
by Jon Campbell

If you like favorites and home teams, the NHL is the place for you in the early going. Teams went just 12-16-2 in their home openers but the home side has come around - especially home faves who are 35-15-0-3 through Monday's action.

And scoring is up too. John Kreimer of NHL.com wrote that scoring has risen through 64 games (before Sunday's action) - barely - compared to the same number of games last season (5.66 versus 5.63). Surprisingly, that has translated into an over/under record of 35-39-3 through 77 games heading into Tuesday's action, according to our trends.

Kreimer wrote the 2011-12 season ended with just 5.32 goals per game on average, so if that is any indicator, scoring will come down as the season progresses.

Here are some other numbers puck bettors will want to know. (Numbers are through 64 games or as of before Sunday's action unless otherwise specified.)

Teams have scored 120 power-play goals compared to just 84 scored in the same number in '11-12.

Power plays are up too. There have been 583 compared to 506 last season. Teams are scoring on 20.6 percent of their PPs this year through 64 games compared to 16.6 percent through the same number last year.

Kreimer writes that the league power play average hasn't reached over 20 percent for a full season since 1989-90 (20.8 percent), so we're seeing some old time hockey numbers on the PP.

In typical NHL fashion, refs are blowing the whistle more early on. So far games are averaging 30 mins per game compared to last season's full-year average of 22.4 PIMs per game. The new rule that prohibits players from gloving the puck on faceoffs is contributing to the rise.

Favorites are 50-21-1-4 so far (65.8%), which isn't a mind-blowing number. But the juice has been pretty low for most favorites early on as oddsmakers try to feel these teams out.

Err, with that in mind, that low juice might be coming to an end. Of the seven games on the board early Tuesday morning, all seven home squads were favored and the lowest juice was around -135 (Ottawa hosting Washington).

Underdogs are 47-30 on the puckline through Monday (61%). With the heavy price you pay on the underdogs on the 1.5-goal line, that's not good enough yet to be blindly betting the pups.

3-Unit Play. Take #521 Illinois State (-4.5) over Bradley (8 p.m.)

I'm going to take a shot here that something has been jarred loose with Illinois State. They have won three straight games and they could be a bit undervalued right now. They had a little issue in the locker room a few weeks ago, but now they all seem to be rowing in the right direction. They were able to gut out wins over Indiana State and Evansville, two very feisty teams in the Missouri Valley, and this team could have some momentum. Bradley is just kind of a mess. They have a couple decent veteran guards. But without Will Egolf they have no one to protect the rim and teams are pretty much scoring at will in the paint. Bradley is coming off a 34-point loss at Wichita State and over the last month their only wins have come in two close W's over Southern Illinois (who is awful) and then two other bad teams (Missouri State and Drake) in home games. They just aren't that good. Illinois State has the same level of talent as a Creighton or a Wichita State. And there is no way that they would get a number like this in this situation.

2-Unit Play. Take 'Under' 146.5 Kentucky at Mississippi (9 p.m.)
1-Unit Play. Take #526 Mississippi (-2.5) over Kentucky (9 p.m.)

Kentucky can't score. Their offense is just not very good, and they are facing kind of an underrated defense for the Rebels. The 'under' is 7-3-1 in the last 11 meetings and the 'under' is 18-6-2 in Kentucky's last 26 road games. The Wildcats have a lot of top-level athletes and Coach Cal can get them to defend for days. If Willie McCauley-Stein was playing this total would be rated at least 5.0 Units. But I still think the Wildcats will be able to dig deep in this one against the Rebels. LSU somehow scored 70 points over the weekend and Texas A&M played out of their minds to score 83. Louisville also managed 80 points against the Wildcats. But that's it in UK's last 14 games. That is all that has scored over 70, and the Wildcats flake out offensively on the road. Ole Miss is a team that can put some points up against weaker sisters. They have played a pathetic schedule this year and that has inflated their record. But they will be sky-high for this game and should play well. That said, I still don't know that I see them topping 70-75 points. They have been held below that in three of their last five games, and outside of them erupting against Vanderbilt their offense has been a little stagnant. Also, the Rebels will dig down defensively and should get the job done. I can see this one played in the high 60's/low 70's. And while it might be close, I think this one is somewhere around 70-65 for the home team.

4-STAR PORTLAND over Dallas - Dallas comes into this game relying entirely on high offensive output for success. Unfortunately, Portland is one of the toughest places to travel and put up a big score. Dallas hasn't faced a decent team on the road in three weeks and is going to start off slow here.
Portland is coming off a 96-83 loss at the Clippers Sunday night. Amazingly of the 29 baskets they had in that game, 28 were assisted. Teams following a game where at least 84.1% of the team's baskets were assisted are168-132-3 ATS. Also, the Trailblazers are 7-0 ATS (13.9 ppg) since December 09, 2000 as a home favorite with at most one day of rest after a double digit loss in which more than 70% of their baskets were assisted.
What killed them though was turnovers as they had 19 while attempting just 66 shots. The Trailblazers are 11-0 ATS (12.0 ppg) since December 12, 2007 with at most one day of rest after a game on the road in which their field goal attempt per turnover ratio was less than four.
The majority of those were self inflicted as LA had just eight steals in the game. The Trailblazers are 6-0 ATS (10.5 ppg) since February 21, 2000 as a home favorite with at most one day of rest after a game on the road in which they has more than 10 refereed turnovers.
Portland did a great deal of their damage at the foul line scoring 22 points there. The Trailblazers are 10-0 ATS (7.1 ppg) since March 12, 2010 as a favorite after a game in which they scored more than 25% of their points from the free throw line and allowed less than 110 points.
These teams haven't met since the first games of the season. A hot Dallas team won handily at the time, holding Portland to 38% shooting. The Trailblazers are 8-0 ATS (9.1 ppg) since February 01, 2011 when seeking revenge for a loss as a dog in which they shot less than 40% from the field. 3-Unit Play. #520 Take Evansville -1.5 over Northern Iowa (Tuesday @ 8:05 pm est)

Although Northern Iowa has revenge over Evansville, I still like Evansville to do well here. Marty Simmons had a 16 win team last year and looks like they are on their way of eclipsing that this year as they have produced 12 wins. Evansville has been great in taking care of the basketball as they are a top 30 team when it comes to turnover percentage and a top 20 team in free throw shooting. This is a team that has shown to produce some big wins at home including beating a top 25 caliber Wichita State team at home and lost to Butler and Notre Dame by 8 and 9 respectively on the road. This also includes beating Northern Iowa on the road earlier this year. Northern Iowa is a solid team and Ben Jacobson continues to coach this team well. But, this is a team that can find it difficult to score points at times including 41 points on the road at Wichita State and 58 points in their last game against Indiana State. This is a very good free throw shooting as well but I believe they rely too much on their half court offensive set and as they are one of the worst offensive rebounding teams in the country and a top 150 turnover team, I would not be surprised to see Evansville actually end up sweeping Northern Iowa this year and pick up their 13th win on the year.

Indian Cowboy's Picks For NBA Basketball

We are now 8-3 over the last 11 selections. It's been a good run for us in the NBA as we continue to rise and are on pace for back to back winning months. Let's make it a 9-3 run with a win today.

3-Unit Play. #506. Take Milwaukee +1 over the Detroit Pistons (Tuesday @ 7:30pm est). Revenge is always a decent motivation. And, that motivation is on the minds of Milwaukee after they have lost their last 2 contests against the Pistons including a 16 point loss to the Pistons in which they were favored by 5.5 points going into that game. Milwaukee has won 7 of its last 10 games including a big win against Golden State. Although the Pistons have been playing well themselves winning 10 of their last 16, I would think that Milwaukee would like to avoid losing 3 straight in one year to the Pistons. The motivation angle is there and there is a reason why the Pistons are just a 1 point chalk here. The Bucks have shown they can beat some fairly stiff competition of late including the Warriors, Portland and Chicago on the road. And as good as Detroit has been in improvement over the past few weeks, they have still lost to the Bobcats, Jazz and New York at home and the Bucks are a competent team with one of the best backcourts in the league with Jennings and Ellis. I like Milwaukee to avoid losing 3 straight here to Detroit.

Indian Cowboy's Picks For NHL Hockey

3-Unit Play. #17 Take Over 5.5 Goals Columbus vs. Minnesota (Tuesday @ 8:00pm est)

The Columbus Blue Jackets are in heavy rebuild mode and they captured a win on their home ice last night as they now head north to the Xcel Energy Center, Saint Paul, Minnesota for a date with the Wild. No team made a bigger splash during the summer than the Wild, who stunned the hockey world July 4 by signing forward Zach Parise and defenseman Ryan Suter to identical 13-year contracts. Parise should give the Wild one of the most explosive top lines in the League as he's expected to play with Mikko Koivu and Dany Heatley. The new star power now added to the Wild franchise is generating the sort of NHL buzz to the Twin Cities that has been lacking since the old North Stars were still in town. Minnesota generated a number of scoring chances at St. Louis, especially early, but was unable to capitalize. The team conducted a number of drills with players crashing the net and trying to bang home rebounds. Wild HC Mike Yeo is a tremendous competitor and his team is a reflection of him, we expect the Wild to respond from their loss to the Blues at the expense of a tired Columbus team. Minnesota runs Wild over the Blue Jackets.

5-Unit NBA Game of the Week #504 Take Detroit -1 over Milwaukee (7:30 p.m. EST, Tuesday)
The Bucks are hot and have won seven of 10, but their schedule has been pretty easy for the most part. Their losses in that stretch include a loss to Cleveland and also a 16-point home drubbing at home against this same Pistons team. Forget about revenge here. That loss was over two weeks ago and the Bucks are concentrating more on getting into the playoffs instead of obsessing over a game two weeks ago. The Pistons started off real slow this season, but they have been playing much better as of late. They have covered four of their last five. They are also 10-6 straight up in their last 16 games. Just think this team is being underestimated by the oddsmakers right now. This team is much better than their record indicates, and we think talent-wise that this team matches up very well with the Bucks even though Milwaukee has a much better record. So we think there is some nice value on this line as home-court advantage has not been factored into this number in our opinion. Detroit has a shut-down defense at home, and this team allows just over 93 points per game on its home court. Those numbers are as competitive as any team in the NBA. We think they will be able to slow down Ellis and Jennings, and those are really the only main threats for Milwaukee. The Pistons play great team basketball and they can get contributions from a number of guys. And the whole Rodney Stuckey situation? We feel like we talked back to his coach and was benched last game (the team is being real secretive about his status), but we expect him to be back for this game. Even if he doesn't play, he is more of a role player on this team these days. We just think that the Pistons will win this one and that the line here is off by a few points.

2 Unit Play. Take 2517 Columbus +160 over Minnesota (8:05 p.m., Tuesday January 29)
The Columbus Blue Jackets will be looking back to back wins and will be trying to send the Wild to their fourth straight loss when the two teams meet tonight in Minnesota. Columbus comes into the contest off a hard fought 2-1 over Dallas last night while the Wild have been outscored 13-8 in their three losses after opening the season with two wins. Despite being a pretty big underdog in the game tonight, we actually like the spot Columbus is in here tonight. The won their last two games with the Wild last season with Steve Mason in goal, something they should carry over to tonight's game. The Wild, who look like the better team on paper have actually struggled in the situation they are in here tonight against Columbus. They are just 1-10 in their last 11 games played on a Tuesday and have lost 7 straight against teams with a win % of .400 or less. Pair that with the fact that the Wild are just 3-13 in their last 16 games against teams from the Central Division and we'll take the nice plus price on Columbus to get the win on the road and give us four straight winning nights on the frozen pond.

Game: Milwaukee at Detroit (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: Milwaukee +1 (-110)
The Milwaukee Bucks have been that "tweener" team. They are good enough to hover around the .500 mark for the past several years, but have yet to turn the corner, and often struggle against the better teams. Milwaukee has feasted on the bad teams in the league, as they don't often pass up opportunities to get a win when they are against a poor team. The last five years illustrates that perfectly as Milwaukee is 72-43-2 ATS against teams with a winning percentage of less than .400. Detroit has been a decent team at home, as they usually catch teams napping and not bringing their "A" game. Milwaukee has proven that doesn't often apply to them. Detroit is also just 5-11 ATS in their last 16 vs. a winning team. Play on Milwaukee.

VANDERBILT vs TENNESSEE VANDERBILT
+8½-106 at 5dimes
15* SEC GAME OF THE NIGHT on Vanderbilt +8.5

The Tennessee Volunteers are one of the most overrated teams in the country this season. At 10-8 on the season, this is clearly a team in rebuilding mode. They miss arguably their best player in Jeronne Maymon, who is out for the season with a knee injury.

Tennessee has lost five of its last seven games with its only wins coming at home over Mississippi State and Alabama. That was a fortunate win Saturday as the Vols had to rally late for a 54-53 home win over the Crimson Tide, and that victory has them overvalued heading into this one.

Vanderbilt is playing its best basketball of the season here of late. It has won two of its last three games, while also taking Ole Miss to overtime four games ago. It won at South Carolina 58-51 before coming back home for a 73-61 win over Auburn. It did lost at Missouri 59-81 on Saturday, but that loss has it undervalued heading into this one.

This is an in-state rivalry that will be played close to the vest as it usually is. These teams have split each of their last six meetings dating back to 2010. All three of Vanderbilt's losses during this stretch came by single-digits.

Vanderbilt is 11-1 ATS in road games versus good defensive teams - allowing <=64 points/game over the last 2 seasons. It is actually winning in this spot 66.1 to 60.4 on average. Tennessee is 4-15 ATS after allowing 25 points or less in the first half last game over the last 3 seasons. The Vols are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games. Roll with Vanderbilt Tuesday.

NEBRASKA vs MINNESOTA U NEBRASKA
+19-110 at betus
15* Big Ten GAME OF THE NIGHT on Nebraska +19

This line is an overreaction from oddsmakers tonight folks. They expect Minnesota to bounce back and put an end to their 4-game losing streak. While that may be the case tonight, it won't be by 20 or more points against an underrated Nebraska team.

Nebraska is one of the most improved teams in the country when you look at where it is at now compared to where it started. The Huskers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall, which have all been in Big Ten play.

The Huskers have won two of their last three outright with a 68-64 win at Penn State as a 4-point dog, and a 64-49 home win over Northwestern as a 1-point dog. They played Michigan (47-62) and Michigan State (56-66) tough on the road this season in Big Ten action as well.

Minnesota is simply not playing well during its current 4-game losing streak. Sure, this is still a quality team, but it has not business being this heavily favored tonight against one of the most underrated squads in the country.

The Gophers are 0-6 ATS in home games after covering 4 or 5 of their last 6 against the spread over the last 3 seasons. Minnesota is 2-13 ATS when playing against a marginal winning team (Win Pct. 51% to 60%) over the last 3 seasons.

Both meetings between these teams last year were decided by 12 points or less. In fact, each of the last 10 meetings in this series dating back to 1997 have been decided by 17 points or fewer. Also, Minnesota's biggest margin of victory over Nebraska in those 10 meetings is 12 points. This makes for a perfect 10-0 system since 1997 backing the Huskers. Bet Nebraska Tuesday.

15* NBA Tuesday No-Doubt Rout on Cleveland Cavaliers +1.5

This is one of the best spots you will ever find to back the Cleveland Cavaliers. Not only are they playing their best basketball of the season right now, they also come in by far the more rested team in this showdown with the Golden State Warriors tonight.

Cleveland is 4-1 SU & 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games overall. It has home wins over the Celtics and Bucks, as well as road wins over the Blazers and Raptors during this stretch. This team got a lot stronger with their trade with Memphis, bringing in Marreese Speights and Wayne Ellington, who combined for 29 points in a 99-98 win at Toronto on Saturday.

While the Cavaliers come in on two days' rest since beating the Raptors on Saturday, the Warriors will be playing the second of a back-to-back and their 4th game in 5 days. Most teams are tired as it is as we near the All-Star break, and this situation is nearly unbearable for most teams. That's especially the case for Golden State considering it is expected to be without Stephon Curry (ankle, doubtful) tonight.

The Cavaliers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Cleveland is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games when playing on 2 days rest. Golden State is 54-81 ATS in road games after scoring 110 points or more since 1996. Take the Cavaliers Tuesday.

20* NBA Western Conference ANNIHILATOR on Dallas +3.5

The Dallas Mavericks should not be an underdog to the Portland Trail Blazers tonight. This is a must-win game for the Mavs as they trail the Blazers by three games in the Western Conference standings as both teams chase the 8th and final playoff spot.

Dallas comes in playing its best basketball of the season. It is 6-3 SU & an incredible 8-1 ATS in its last 9 games overall. Its only three losses during this stretch came to Western Conference powers in the Clippers, Spurs and Thunder, all by 6 points or less.

Portland comes in playing its worst basketball of the season. The Blazers are just 2-7 SU in their last nine games overall. They are showing signs of wearing down right now, and for good reason considering they have the worst bench in the league.

Portland's 16.5 points per game off the bench are by far the fewest in the NBA. The Blazers come in tired as this will be their 3rd game in 4 days. Meanwhile, the Mavs are well-rested considering this will be just their 3rd game in 9 days.

This play falls into a system that is 28-7 (80%) ATS over the last 5 seasons. It tells us to bet against home teams where the line is +3 to -3 (PORTLAND) - revenging a blowout loss vs opponent of 20 points or more, off a road loss by 10 points or more. Dallas beat Portland 114-91 at home in their lone meeting this season on November 5th, which was without Nowitzki.

The Mavericks are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest. Dallas is 6-0 ATS in its last 6 Tuesday games. The Blazers are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. These three trends combine for a perfect 18-0 system backing Dallas. Bet the Mavericks Tuesday.

Analysis: Detroit is not a good home team. The Pistons are 12-12 at The Palace of Auburn Hills, 10-13 ATS. Milwaukee is a solid road club. The Bucks have won more than they've lost on the road while covering 62 percent of their away contests.
This is Detroit's first game back from a three-game road trip that finished on Sunday with the Pistons nipping Orlando, 104-102. The Pistons are 4-9 ATS when playing on one days rest. They also are 5-11 ATS the past 16 times when taking on a foe with a winning record.
The Bucks have played their finest ball under interim coach Jim Boylan going 7-3 since Boylan repla Ðced taskmaster Scott Skiles. The Bucks hold a backcourt edge on Detroit with Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings and their frontcourt players have played better under Boylan.
