Bank Shots: NBA Betting News & Notes

Each week, we look back on the NBA betting scene and give you the best –and worst – basketball bets, as well as some spots to keep an eye on with the upcoming schedule.

For the week of April 7-13.

HOTTEST ATS

Detroit Pistons (3-0 SU, 3-0 ATS)

The Pistons have been out of playoff contention for virtually the whole season, but have been playing some good ball down the stretch. Detroit has covered in six of its last seven games (6-0-1 against the spread) and has two games remaining. The Pistons host the Sixers Monday before visiting Brooklyn for their season finale.

COLDEST ATS

Portland Trail Blazers (0-3 SU, 0-3 ATS)

The Blazers have lost 10 consecutive games and have only covered once (1-9 ATS) during the losing skid. Portland’s nightmarish season isn’t over yet as it still has three tough games against the Nuggets, Clippers and Warriors.

BEST OVER PLAY

Boston Celtics (2-2 SU, 4-0 OVER/under)

Boston clinched the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 120-88 win over Orlando Saturday. The Celtics have played over in four consecutive games, averaging 105.2 points during the run. Boston hosts Indiana Tuesday and has a short turnaround before finishing in Toronto Wednesday night.

BEST UNDER PLAY

Memphis Grizzlies (3-1 SU, 0-4 over/UNDER)

The Grizzlies are in a dogfight for home advantage in the Western Conference and are already playing playoff-like defense. Memphis has gone low in eight straight games and hasn’t allowed an opponent to score more than 100 points in nine consecutive games. The Griz are in Dallas Monday before hosting Utah Wednesday.

All stats prior to action Sunday.

Pucking The Trends: This Week's Best NHL Bets

Every week, we update you on who's hot, who's not and situational betting spots in the National Hockey League.

For the week of April 7-13

HOT TEAM

Washington Capitals (4-0 SU)

The Capitals have reeled off seven consecutive wins to rise to the top of the Southeast Division standings. Washington plays four of its final six games at home and five of those contests are against Northeast foes. The Capitals are a combined 2-5 against the Bruins, Maple Leafs, Senators and Canadiens this season.

COLD TEAM

Edmonton Oilers (0-3 SU)

The young Oilers have dropped five straight to drop out of playoff contention in the Western Conference. Edmonton has been outscored 17-4 during the slide and F Ales Hemsky will be on the shelf for about a week due to a nagging foot injury. The Oilers host the Wild Tuesday before jetting to Colorado for a date with the Avs.

BEST OVER PLAY

Toronto Maple Leafs (2-0-1 SU, 2-0-1 OVER/under)

The Maple Leafs have earned points in 10 of their last 11 games and are coming off a 5-1 rout of the Canadiens on Saturday night. Toronto has been a solid over play with a 20-16-5 O/U mark to date and boasts the fourth-ranked offense (3.1 goals per game) in the NHL. The Leafs host New Jersey Monday before a road date in Washington Tuesday.

BEST UNDER PLAY

Ottawa Senators (2-2 SU, 0-4 over/UNDER)

The Senators were an awesome under play early in the season thanks to a hot start from G Craig Anderson. The veteran netminder was absent for 20 games in the middle season due to injury but is back between the pipes for Ottawa. The Senators have gone low in four consecutive games and are 3-0 O/U in Anderson’s three starts since returning from injury. Ottawa has a tough game in Boston Monday to wrap up a seven-game road trip.

Surveying the schedule:

-The Columbus Blue Jackets are battling for a playoff spot in the West and play five of their final six games on the road. The Jackets are 6-11-2 away from home this season.

-The Dallas Stars have won five straight but wins could be tough to come by down the stretch. Six of the Stars’ final seven opponents are currently above .500 and in the playoff mix.

DAVE ESSLER

Cliff Notes - Monday Baseball

St. Louis at Pittsburgh: Pirates have been home while the Cardinals have been fighting the Brewers. Have to wonder if there isn't some sort of mental letdown for St. Louis. McDonald has certainly been someone we could get behind in the past. Freese and Beltran rested Sunday. McDonald owned the Cubs and was owned by the D-Backs (in Arizona). Truth is somewhere in the middle. But, he's pitched well against most all the Cardinals, save Molina, whose due a day off. He's caught about 6-8 straight games. Lynn also crushed by the D-Backs and was lights-out against the Reds, and at a time when the Reds were hitting. Given the struggles of the Cardinals bullpen, and the non-struggles of the Pirates relievers, you certainly have to lean Pittsburgh, I would think. As I type the Reds are out early, so we'll wait and see what happens like we always do.

Philadelphia at Cincinnati: I suppose if I'd been paying attention I'd have faded the Phillies in their last game against the Fish, strictly because of THIS game. Well, maybe. That games' just started, but it would have been a reason to think about it. A little hard to fathom the Reds being home dogs to many people, especially the perceived light hitting Phillies. For that reason (sounds like Shark Tank) I would have to think seriously about taking Philadelphia. Reds coming home from Pittsburgh would be yet another reason. Arroyo hasn't been walking many, but he's been very hittable. He's always been much tougher on RHH, and last I check Howard, Utley, and at least Brown hit from the left side of the plate. Votto's about the only Red that's had REAL success against Lee, so I do in fact lean Phillies and probably under here, although I have not checked weather and Sunday's impacts aren't known yet.

Washington at Miami: Similar situation here in that the Nationals have a big division series against Atlanta, and don't fare well in, I might have to think there's some emotional discomfort in their clubhouse. We'll see. Simply not laying -185 on the road, and could consider the RL either way. One of these days Miami will score, but still have only scored more than three runs once in there eleven games, Sunday pending. LeBlanc has actually pitched fairly well, and these two teams already faced each other in the season opening series. If LeBlanc is the one to make adjustments, who knows. These two pitchers faced each other in that series as well, in a game won by the Nats (duh) 6-1. He's been nothing short of consistent, but in what is probably a low scoring game (again) I could make the case fairly easily for the Fish RL.

Mets at Rockies: Colorado in a first game back after being in San Diego (nice weather) and it's supposed to be chilly, rainy, and wind blowing in hard in Colorado on Monday. Clearly the Mets should think this is summer after being in Minnesota on Sunday, and having a game "wintered out". Hence, they are also rested. Gee pitched well against the Padres but was simply hammered in Philadelphia his last start. Rockies really haven't seen enough of him to say one way or the other. Nicasio's first home start, and he's either walked the park or been hit when he does throw strikes in his first two games at Milwaukee and the Giants. The Mets have never seen Nicasio at all, so even though it's a tough spot for the Rockies, perhaps a first five inning bet. Doubt they're worth -135 against a rested team, and can't quite see 10.5 runs happening, given the weather.

San Diego at Dodgers: Los Angeles only averaging a little over three runs a game, and since the first homestand their bullpen has been simply awful. Only Billingsley's second start, and the first one was also against these Padres, a team that's done very little against him over the years. It is the Dodgers flying back from Arizona and playing the next night, which is always at least a yellow flag. Stults was lit up by the Dodgers in Petco last week, and inasmuch as I like to find a way to take the Padres, I probably can't. I suppose it's possible that we could consider the RL at -135, which I suspect might be more expensive later. Hard to say, but certainly not enough value at +115 for me to take the Dodgers RL either. If anything, I might wait til the total hits 7.5, if it does, and take the obligatory under in Dodger Stadium at night.

Tampa Bay at Boston: I won't touch this game, being played right before the Boston Marathon ends.

Hotlanta Braves on 9-0 Streak for Bettors

No pennant was ever won in April, but Atlanta is setting the early pace in the National League.

The Braves have won nine in a row and are the hottest team in baseball after finishing the weekend sweep of the Nationals in Washington Sunday.

Any bettor that placed $100 on each of the Braves' nine games would be up $772.26.

Atlanta is +600 to win the National League and +1200 to win the World Series at online sportsbook CarbonSports.

Atlanta has been winning with pitching during the streak. The Braves have outscored the opposition 46-14, and have yielded more than four earned runs only once. Every starter has gone at least five innings in each game, with the bullpen eating just 22 2/3 innings in the nine ballgames combined.

The Braves are off Monday and return to the diamond Tuesday, when they open a two-game set with the Kansas City Royals. Kris Medlen (1-1, 1.50 ERA) is scheduled to take the hill for Atlanta and will take on Jeremy Guthrie (2-0, 3.55 ERA).

NHL Betting Five Goalies for Bettors to Watch Down the Stretch

NHL backup goalies or late-season pickups may see more time between the sticks as the playoffs become faded from view.

Here's a look a five netminders on unlikely playoff-bound teams and what bettors should know about them down the stretch.

(All stats are prior to Sunday's action)

Ben Bishop, Tampa Bay Lightning (2-3 SU, 3.21 GAA, .916 SV%, 3-2 O/U with Lightning)

The Lightning acquired Bishop from Ottawa at the trade deadline to improve their 27th-ranked goals-against average. After a shutout in his first appearance for the Bolts, Bishop has crashed, posting an .890 save percentage in his five starts since. The over has gone 4-2 in his six appearances for Tampa Bay.

Steve Mason, Philadelphia Flyers (0-2 SU, 1.74 GAA, .934 SV%, 0-2 O/U with Flyers)

Mason may get a run in the pipes for the Flyers with Ilya Bryzgalov wearing out his welcome in Philadelphia for poor play and allegedly falling asleep during a meeting, according to the 97.5 The Fanatic. The former Calder Trophy winner has gone 0-3 since being traded from Columbus, but the under is 3-0 due to Philly's poor scoring. Mason has gotten only two goals of support in his three games in Flyer orange.

Justin Peters, Carolina Hurricanes (4-8 SU, 2.93 GAA, .905 SV%, 7-6-2 O/U)

Carolina has gone from playoff contender to also-ran after losing 14 of its last 16 games. Cam Ward's six-to-eight week knee injury has hit the Hurricanes hard. Peters has started 12 of Carolina's 20 games since the injury. The Hurricanes have gone 2-9 in his last 11 appearances and he's posted a lackluster .868 save percentage.

Chris Mason, Nashville Predators (1-5-1, 3.80 GA, .848 SV%, 7-2 O/U)

With Nashville seven points out of the playoffs with only six games left going into Sunday, time is running out for the Predators. Starter Pekka Rinne has played 35 of the team's 42 games, and Nashville's No. 2 Mason has been terrible this season. Mason hasn't won a game since his first start of the season on January 22, and the over is 7-2 in his nine starts this season. In his last seven appearances, Mason's save percentage is .771.

Joey MacDonald, Calgary Flames (7-6-1 SU, 2.83 GAA, .903 SV%, 9-7-1 O/U)

MacDonald could see some action for the Flames down the stretch with starter Miikka Kiprusoff leaning towards retiring after the season. The under is 3-1-1 in MacDonald's last five games. Other than giving up eight against Edmonton on April 3, MacDonald allowed eight goals in the other four appearances in the 3-1-1 stretch.

NHL UNDERS Continue to Cash for Bettors

NHL teams are gearing up for tight, conservative playoff hockey, even with the Stanley Cup playoffs more than two weeks away.

This is leading to the totals falling and unders cashing for bettors.

In the 99 games in April prior to Sunday, the UNDER is 53-32-14.

Oddsmakers are adjusting since the under went 33-16-4 from April 4-10. Eleven of the 19 games from Friday-Sunday had totals of five, which included four pushes.

One of the reasons the under has been hot is because power plays have gone cold. Heading into Sunday's action, there were 88 goals scored on 536 total power plays in April, which translates to a 16.4 percent power-play conversion rate. This is below the current NHL power play average of 18 percent.

Grizzlies look to improve playoff seed Monday at Dallas

Tip-off: Monday, 8:05 p.m. ET
Line: Memphis -4, Total: 186

The Mavericks will be playing to guarantee themselves a .500 record for the season when they host the Grizzlies on Monday night.

Dallas is ending its non-playoff season on a high note with four wins in its past five games (SU and ATS). This includes two straight impressive victories, beating red-hot Denver 108-105 on Friday before blowing out New Orleans 107-89 on Sunday. The Grizzlies are also entering the playoffs on a nice roll, going 7-2 SU (5-3-1 ATS) in their past nine games. That has put them tied for fourth place in the West with the Clippers, just one game behind the Nuggets for third. So far this season these teams have met three times with Memphis going 2-1 SU, but Dallas being 2-0-1 ATS. The most recent meeting on Feb. 27 resulted in a 90-84 home win for Memphis. Dallas was in that game the whole time, but was outscored 24-5 in the third quarter. The Mavericks are 5-2 SU in their past seven home games and 23-16 SU (20-19) in Big D this season. The Grizzlies are 23-17 SU (23-16-1 ATS) on the road this season, including four wins in their past five away contests.

Memphis is coming off a tough loss to the Clippers on Saturday, losing 91-87 at home. PF Zach Randolph had a strong game for the Grizzlies with 16 points and 12 rebounds, but his team turned the ball over on an entry pass to Randolph on a play that could have tied the game in the final seconds. C Marc Gasol also had a huge game, finishing with 18 points and 15 rebounds. That marked Gasol’s second straight double-double. PG Mike Conley struggled from the field on Saturday, going 4-of-11 FG with just 12 points. Conley has been playing well as of late though, averaging 18.0 PPG and 5.6 APG over the past five games, so the Grizzlies should not be worried about his performance in the loss. SF Tayshaun Prince scored 13 points in what was his first double-digit scoring game in the past six contests. The Grizzlies desperately need a scorer on the outside to step it up just in case Randolph or Gasol struggles in the playoffs.

The Mavericks set a goal to reach the .500 mark and they weren’t going to shave their beards until they did it. The team finally got to shave on Sunday, improving its record to 40-40 with a 107-89 victory over the Hornets. SF Shawn Marion had a big game for Dallas with 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Marion is averaging 20.6 PPG and 8.6 RPG over the past five games on 60% shooting from the field. PF Dirk Nowitzki scored 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting in the win, while also blocking two shots. Nowitzki has been playing very well coming into this game, averaging 20.6 PPG over his past three contests. SF Vince Carter continued to play well for Dallas with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the game. Carter is now averaging 18.6 PPG over the past three games. After a 20-point, 6-assist performance in a win over the Nuggets, SG O.J. Mayo had just eight points and four assists against New Orleans. Mayo has been inconsistent throughout his first season with Dallas, but he has knocked down a career-best 41.2% three-pointers.

Lee tries to add to Reds losing skid Monday

First pitch: Sunday, 8:05 p.m. ET
Line: Philadelphia -125, Cincinnati +115, Total: 9

Red-hot Philadelphia looks to move above .500 for the first time this season when it begins a three-game set at slumping Cincinnati during Monday's league-wide Jackie Robinson Day celebration.

The Phillies have won four of their past five games, outscoring opponents 21 to 10 over this stretch and posting a miniscule 1.79 team ERA. Roy Halladay allowed just one run and five hits in eight strong innings in Sunday's 2-1 win over Miami. Meanwhile, the Reds dropped their final five contests of a six-game road trip on Sunday, as they blew a 5-0 lead in the seventh inning in Pittsburgh and lost 10-7. It might not get any easier playing a Phillies team that has won 18 of its past 22 meetings with Cincinnati (including playoffs). This includes a 7-1 record in the past eight games at Great American Ball Park, where Philly has outscored the Reds 34-12. The Phillies also have the decided pitching advantage on Monday with former Cy Young Award winner Cliff Lee opposing Cincinnati veteran right-hander Bronson Arroyo.

The Philadelphia offense has been very average this season, ranking 17th in the majors in runs (48), 15th in batting (.258), 16th in on-base percentage (.314) and 15th in slugging (.406). The bats have been especially quiet on the road with a mere 10 runs (one homer) in the past five away games. 3B Michael Young (.357 BA) is the only regular hitting above .300 and 2B Chase Utley (10 RBI) is the only player with more than 6 RBI in the first 12 games of the season. Although the pitching is finally coming together, the Phils bullpen has struggled in 2013, posting a 4.64 ERA and 1.45 WHIP due to 17 walks in 33 innings.

Cliff Lee (2-0, 1.08 ERA, 0.60 WHIP) has been the team's best pitcher by a wide margin, allowing just two earned runs in 16.2 innings to start the season. He has struck out 14 batters and walked none in these two starts, holding opponents to a .167 BA and .267 slugging percentage. Lee has also been supported with 10 runs over his first two starts, something he didn't get much of last season when he threw 21 quality starts, but won just six games. The Phillies ended up with a 12-18 record (40%) in Lee's 30 starts in 2012. One of those outings was against the Reds, where he allowed just two earned runs with nine strikeouts over 6.2 innings despite Cincy banging out nine hits. Despite a 6-2 career record versus the Reds, he carries a below-standard 3.91 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in these 11 starts in the series. Two Cincinnati players have had great success versus Lee in their careers, as 1B Joey Votto has a .385 BA and .692 SLG in 13 at-bats, while 2B Brandon Phillips has hit .308 with three doubles, 1 HR, 4 RBI and just one strikeout in 27 plate appearances. Lee has dominated OF Jay Bruce though, holding him to a .188 BA (3-for-16) with six strikeouts.

The Reds offense has been pretty potent so far in 2013 with 65 runs (5th in MLB) and a .342 on-base percentage (6th in majors). The offensive numbers have been off the charts in the past four games at Great American Ball Park, where they've scored 32 runs with 10 homers, a .325 BA, .373 OBP and .591 slugging. OF Shin-Soo Choo is loving his new club, leading them in both average (.354 BA) and runs (11), but veteran 2B Brandon Phillips has been the Reds' best hitter at .327 BA, 4 HR, 14 RBI and 10 runs. 3B Todd Frazier (.318 BA, 3 HR, 10 RBI) is also on fire to start the season, and although star 1B Joey Votto is stuck on one home run, he's batting .289 with a league-best .542 OBP, thanks to 20 walks, which are nine more than any other player in the majors. Cincinnati's pitching has been problematic though, carrying a 4.54 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in the first 12 games this season. This includes subpar bullpen numbers of 4.82 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, as Reds relievers have served up seven homers in 37.1 innings.

Bronson Arroyo (1-1, 5.25 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) hasn't pitched his best, but he has kept his team in both of his starts, allowing three runs in six innings in the opener, then giving up four runs in six innings in his most recent outing in St. Louis. The Reds had an 18-14 record (56%) with Arroyo on the mound last season, including 9-5 (64%) at home, where Arroyo had a pedestrian 3.98 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. However, the right-hander's career numbers versus Philly are downright awful over 11 career games (10 starts), as he carries a 2-7 record with a 6.55 ERA and 1.51 WHIP against Monday's opponent. Arroyo was able to end an 11-year win drought versus this club last year though, when he allowed just two runs on three hits over eight strong innings, striking out four and walking nobody in that victory. All four of Philly's regular players with more than 10 career at-bats against Arroyo have posted strong numbers against the right-hander. SS Jimmy Rollins is 6-for-18 with 2 HR and 5 RBI, 2B Chase Utley and 3B Michael Young are both batting .313 (5-for-16), and 1B Ryan Howard is 4-for-14 (.286 BA) with two doubles and a homer off Arroyo.

2 UNIT = San Diego Padres @ Los Angeles Dodgers - PADRES TO WIN (+170)
Listed Pitchers: Stults vs Billingsly
(Note: I'm risking 2.00 units to win 3.40 units)

These two teams meet for the first time since the "Grienke Brawl" that put the Dodgers ace out for a number of weeks and got Carlos Quentin suspended for eight games. With that said I don't see much happening tonight. The Padres are just 2-10 on the season and 1-5 on the road as they've lost 5 straight games heading into tonight. The Dodgers are 7-5 on the year and 4-2 at home, but lost their weekend series in Arizona being shutout twice. Although the Dodgers have a better team batting average and OBP than the Padres they have only scored 34 runs in 12 games played, while the Padres have scored 39 in the same number of games. The Dodgers are 28th in runs scored so far in this young season. San Diego will send Eric Stults to the mound. He is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA so far this year. He gave up 0 earned runs in New York striking out 7 and walking 2 and then gave up 8 hits and 4 earned runs striking out 4 and walking none against the Dodgers. In 2012 he had a solid 2.91 ERA and he was 4-2 with a 2.54 ERA, .237 OBA, and 1.11 WHIP on the road. Dodgers starter will be Chad Billingsley who has just one start this year and it was in San Diego. He went 6 innings giving up 5 hits and 1 run with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks. Last season he pitched to a 3.55 ERA but was just 3-4 at home with a 4.32 ERA, .288 OBA, and 1.52 WHIP. Take note that these two starting pitchers faced off on the 10th of April with the Dodgers winning 4-3. The Dodgers did win 2 of the 3 games, but both wins were by 1 run and the Padres outscored the Dodgers 14-10 in the series. Take note that the Dodgers are 5-1 in Stults' last 6 road starts and 4-0 in his last 4 starts as an underdog of +151 to +200. They are also 7-2 in his last 9 starts overall. From last season the Padres are 4-1 in their last 5 meetings in Los Angeles and tonight with Stults on the mound I think they have a good shot at getting the first game victory. At +170 I'll go with the San Diego tonight.

Game: Philadelphia at Montreal (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: Game Total UNDER 5.5 -115

It has been quite a season so far for Montreal who has a chance to go deep in the playoffs. They have held 24 opponents on the season to two goals or less and, over their last ten, they have limited six of those opponents to one or less. They should contain a Flyers attack which has been non-existent over their last four games. Philly has found the net just three times in the four contests, losing them all. The Flyers have also played four straight to the UNDER after a day of rest, while the Canadiens have sparkled in front of the net at home where they have now played seven straight to the UNDER. Make the play on the UNDER in this one.

15* NBA Eastern Conference ANNIHILATOR on Charlotte Bobcats -1

The Charlotte Bobcats are showing solid value at home against the New York Knicks tonight. The Knicks are in a huge letdown spot in this one, and I don't even expect them to show up as a result.

New York is surely going to rest several of its key players after clinching the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 90-80 home victory over the Indiana Pacers Sunday. Now, it will be playing the second of a back-to-back and its 4th game in 5 days short-handed.

Carmelo Anthony is expected to rest. New York - still without big men Tyson Chandler, Kenyon Martin, Amare Stoudemire, Rasheed Wallace and Marcus Camby - is ready to get some rest.

The Bobcats have lost 14 straight and 21 of 22 on the road, but they're playing well at home toward season's end. Charlotte beat Milwaukee 95-85 on Saturday for its sixth win in eight games at Time Warner Cable Arena. The Bobcats are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 vs. NBA Atlantic opponents. Bet Charlotte Monday.

20* NBA Eastern Conference GAME OF THE MONTH on Washington Wizards +6

The Washington Wizards get the nod Monday as a road underdog to the Brooklyn Nets in a game I fully expect them to win outright. I'm only taking the points for some added insurance in this one folks.

The Wizards have been one of the most underrated teams in the league all season. That's evident by the fact that they are 45-34-1 ATS in all games this year. Off four straight losses with three coming against playoff contenders, the Wizards will be hungry for a win tonight.

Brooklyn has no reason to even be motivated to play this game Monday. That's because it has already wrapped up the No. 4 seed and home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. It is locked into the No. 4 seed as it cannot move up or down.

Making sure they're fresh for the playoffs is a much bigger priority. Deron Williams is one of several players who could be rested tonight against the Wizards, so I have no doubt that the Wizards will be putting the more talented team on the floor.

Plus, Washington will be the much fresher team as it will be playing on two days' rest having last played on Friday in a loss to Philadelphia. Brooklyn will be playing the second of a back-to-back and its 5th game in 7 days following an 87-93 loss at Toronto Sunday.

The Wizards are 33-16-2 ATS in their last 51 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. The Nets are 17-35-2 ATS in their last 54 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Brooklyn is 4-11 ATS in its last 15 home games. Take the Wizards Monday.

15* NBA Monday No-Doubt Rout on Detroit Pistons -3

The Detroit Pistons will run away with a victory tonight at home over the Philadelphia 76ers. I like how the Pistons are playing down the stretch as they clearly are not packing it in just yet. They are playing out their season.

That's evident by the fact that the Pistons are a perfect 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games overall. They have also won three straight coming in with victories over the Bulls, Cavs and Bobcats by a combined 41 points.

Detroit comes in well-rested on two days' rest having last played on Friday in a 113-93 home victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. Philadelphia is a tired team as it will be playing the second of a back-to-back and its 5th game in 7 days after a 91-77 home win over the Cleveland Cavaliers last night.

The 76ers are 8-24 ATS in their last 32 games playing on 0 days rest. Philadelphia is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games following a SU win of more than 10 points. The Pistons are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 vs. Eastern Conference opponents. Roll with Detroit Monday.

15* NBA Monday Undervalued Underdog on Phoenix Suns +7

The Phoenix Suns want revenge from a 98-101 road loss as a 14.5-point underdog to the Houston Rockets on April 9th less than a week ago. Jermaine O'Neal was called for goaltending at the buzzer on a questionable call.

Houston has little to play for right now as it is guaranteed to be either the No. 6 or No. 7 seed in the Western Conference. I have a hard time seeing the Rockets being motivated enough to beat a team they just beat less than a week ago by more than 7 points tonight.

Phoenix comes in the fresher team as well. The Suns will be playing just their 2nd game in 5 days, while the Rockets will be playing the second of a back-to-back and their 3rd game in 4 days after beating the Sacramento Kings at home last night.

The Rockets are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. Houston is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games following a SU win of more than 10 points. The Rockets are 9-19 ATS in road games when playing on back-to-back days over the last 2 seasons. Bet the Suns Monday.

15* MLB Monday PLAY OF THE DAY on Philadelphia Phillies -118

The Philadelphia Phillies are showing excellent value as a small road favorite over the Cincinnati Reds Monday. They should be a much heavier favorite considering the edge they have on the mound in this one.

Cliff Lee remains one of the best starters in baseball, and he's proving it once again in 2013. Lee is 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA and 0.600 WHIP through two starts this season. He has allowed just two earned runs and 10 base runners over 16 2/3 innings in wins over the Braves and Mets.

Bronson Arroyo is not off to the best start this year, going 1-1 with a 5.25 ERA while allowing seven earned runs over 12 innings. This is one team he hates facing as Arroyo is 2-7 with a 6.33 ERA in 11 career starts against Philadelphia. Lee has allowed two earned runs over 15 1/3 innings in his last two starts against Cincinnati.

The Phillies are 35-17 in their last 52 games as a road favorite of -110 to -150. The Phillies are 14-5 in Lee's last 19 starts as a favorite of -110 to -150. The Reds are 0-5 in their last 5 overall. Cincinnati is 5-11 in its last 16 games as a home underdog. Philadelphia is 38-15 in the last 53 meetings, including 20-8 in its last 28 meetings in Cincinnati. Take the Phillies Monday.

Bulls -3.5 over Magic

The Bulls have not been playing their best basketball with all of the injuries they have suffered this year, but at the end of the season its important to close out well going into the playoffs. There is nothing about this Orlando team that impresses me. The Bulls need tot tighten up their defense over the past few games and Orlando is a perfect team to do so on. Take Chicago.

Bobcats -1.5 over Knicks
The Knicks big winning streak is over and they will be resting players tonight in Charlotte. The NBA is a business. This game means nothing to the Knicks, but the Bobcats would like to get out of the teens in wins and selling tickets is a business. You have to put fans in the seats. This would be a nice win for Charlotte ending the season. There is a reason why Vegas made them the favorite. Take the Bobcats.

Mavs +3.5 over Grizzles
Dallas has all the talent in the world and just did not put it together this season so they will be sitting home during the playoffs. This team has character and they all made a pact not to shave their beards until they hit .500. They did so the other day and all are fresh shaved. I think this is a big game for them tonight as they are feeling fresh and at home are still going to treat this like a meaningful game. Take Dallas

Phillies -120 over Reds
Lee/Arroyo
The Reds were brutal over the weekend. Their bullpen stinks and their starter Arroyo has not been pitching well either. The problem with the Phillies is the runs they have given up off the walk. Cliff Lee is their one bright spot this year and he has yet to walk anybody this season. The Reds are starting to feel the pressure and this is not a good pitcher to face when you are in a slump. Take the Phillies.

507 WAS 7.5(-110) 5Dimes vs 508 Brooklyn triple-dime bet

Analysis: The Wizards have incentive to win 30 games and get revenge for an embarrassing loss to the Nets last month.

Brooklyn, though, ha ªs nothing to play for after being upset by Toronto on Sunday. The Nets are locked into the No. 4 seed. Their goal going into the playoffs is getting healthy. That means resting players. So don't expect Gerald Wallace or Deron Williams to see many minutes if they even play at all.

This is what Nets coach P.J. Carlesimo said after Sunday's loss to the Raptors: "We don't need to get anybody hurt. We're not playing for anything. Going forward now we've certainly got to rest some people."

With John Wall playing well, the Wizards certainly are capable of pulling the outright upset against the disinterested Nets.

501 CHI -3.0(-110) 5Dimes vs 502 ORL double-dime bet

Analysis: ªThe Bulls have owned the Magic - as have most teams this season - and still are playing for playoff seeding with a chance for the fifth seed. So Chicago can't afford to slip up against the lowly Magic.

The Bulls should be reinforced for this matchup. Richard Hamilton is back from a one-game suspension, Taj Gibson is expected back after missing eight games and Joakim Noah is in the lineup for the second time in 14 games.

Chicago has defeated Orlando in eight of the past nine meetings, including the last four. The Bulls are 21-8 ATS in their last 29 road games versus foes with a home winning percentage of less than .400. Orlando has failed to cover in14 of its last 20 home games.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays
Take: Toronto Blue Jays -137

*3 Star MLB Moneyline Value* The Chicago White Sox have only won one game on the road so far this year (out of 6). Toronto isn't off to a very good start, but I expect the Blue Jays to be a good team before it's all said and done. Mark Buerhle has had two very bad starts to start off the season for Toronto, but history tells us he should bounce back here. Buerhle is a very competitive guy who responds well in big spots, and he'll face his old teammates here. I think that helps him a lot more than them. Chicago is 5-21 in their last 26 as a road underdog. Take the Blue Jays.

St. Louis Cardinals
-110 (http://affiliate.sportsinteraction.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_1020b_102) at SIA (http://www.sportsinteraction.com/)

*4 Star MLB Play of the Day* The St. Louis Cardinals have a much better lineup than the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates have struggled to score runs most of the year, and they don't have a good history against Lance Lynn. Lynn has an ERA of just over 1 at PNC Park. James McDonald has been hit hard by Yadier Molina and overall St. Louis has fared well against him. At nearly even money, I can't pass up the much better team here. St. Louis is also coming off a tough loss, and I expect them to be focused and looking to bounce back right away. The Cardinals are 15-1 in Lynn's last 16 starts against the NL Central. They are 5-0 in Lynn's last 5 starts in game one of a series. The Pirates are 0-4 in McDonald's last 4 against the NL Central. Take St. Louis.

Houston Rockets vs Phoenix Suns
Take: Total 209 ov-110

*3 Star NBA Total Domination* The Houston Rockets have been the fastest paced team in the NBA for the season, but the Phoenix Suns have actually been playing faster than them over the last couple weeks. Lindsay Hunter's team doesn't have anything to play, and they aren't playing any defense right now. The Suns have been giving up points in huge bunches, and Houston can pile up the points. This game definitely means something to the Rockets who are trying to improve their playoff seed in the Western Conference. I had this one pegged at 215 points. Take the over.

Indian Cowboy's Picks For NBA Basketball

4-Unit Play. #516. Take Oklahoma City -15.5 over Sacramento Kings (Monday @ 8:05pm est).

The season for the Kings have been marred by the uncertainty surrounding the future of the franchise and while it will be another losing year for the Kings, there have been some signs of promise in the first season under Keith Smart. Sacramento can do two things really well: It runs a fast-paced offense and when the shots are falling, it is incredibly difficult to beat. Rarely do both of these areas click at same time. The Kings' defense has been a season-long issue as they're surrendering (109.9) per game over the last (30) games and a league-worst (105.8) overall. Superstar Kevin Durant returns to the Thunder team and even though it would be hard to improve on his stats from last season, He is poised to once again be one of the Top 5 in the quest for the 2012-2013 Scoring title. With the addition of Kevin Martin, also an outstanding scorer who was acquired during the trade, the Thunder look to make another run at an NBA Championship. The Thunder have a scoring average of (105.8) points per game while allowing an average of (96.6) points per game to their opponents. OKC lost their last home game to the New York Knicks (125-120) and with the Kings having just been involved in a track meet at Houston last night and the Thunder home waiting - Blow Out! The Thunder are (24-9) ATS in their last (33) home games, (8-3) ATS in their last (11) Monday games and (6-1) ATS in their last (7) games overall.Though the Kings have revenge, and have covered the last couple, with the Spurs losing last night to the Lakers, I suspect the Thunder will look to end the season strong and plus its a small public fade who is on the underdog and the bounty of points here. Let's roll with the Thunder at home.
