Pacers at Heat: What bettors need to know

Indiana Pacers at Miami Heat (-7, 181)

Best-of-seven series tied 3-3.

The Indiana Pacers are one win away from making a surprise trip to the NBA Finals. The Miami Heat, who host the Pacers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals on Monday, are one loss away from an offseason filled with tough questions. LeBron James has been his usual dominant self at times in the series but has gotten little help from his supporting cast. Indiana has controlled the inside in its three wins and will attempt to do so again.

Miami won Game 5 by evening thing up on the interior but fell off the pace again in Game 6, when the Pacers opened up a 53-33 advantage on the glass and a 44-22 edge in points in the paint. Some of that falls on Chris Bosh, who is 5-for-21 with 12 rebounds in the last three games combined and has yet to grab more than five boards in a game during the series. “I believe in my teammates,” James said. “They’re struggling right now, but we’ve got another chance on Monday.” Indiana is the only team to hold the Heat below 80 points this season and it has done it twice, including limiting Miami to a season-low 36.1 percent shooting in Saturday’s 91-77 triumph.

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, TNT

ABOUT THE PACERS: Indiana got superb play from Paul George and Roy Hibbert once again in Game 6. George led the way with 28 points and nailed a back-breaking 3-pointer in the fourth quarter when the Heat were making their final run. Hibbert followed that up by drawing an offensive foul on James as the Pacers turned the momentum. The Indiana big man has increased his visibility around the league with his play in the series and responded harshly when asked after the game why he had finished so low in the Defensive Player of the year voting. “Y’all (expletive) don’t watch us play throughout the year to tell you the truth,” he said. “So that’s fine. I’m going to be real with you and I don’t care if I get fined.” Hibbert also used a gay slur in answer to a question earlier in his postgame press conference and issued an apology on Sunday. That mini-controversy briefly overshadowed the great performance on the court from the Pacers, who are trying to advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2000.

ABOUT THE HEAT: Miami has tried to spread the Indiana defense out by bringing Bosh out to the perimeter and spreading the floor around James with 3-pointer shooters, which has left the team vulnerable on the glass. Dwyane Wade’s slashing drives to the basket have been unsuccessful as well, and the star guard refused to blame a nagging knee injury for his lack of explosiveness after Game 6. In fact, Wade is lobbying for a bigger role in the offense. “We’ve got to do a good job of making sure me and (Bosh) have our opportunities to succeed throughout the game,” Wade told reporters. “That’s something we’re going to have to look at as a team.” Wade was productive in the first three games of the series but has shot 32 percent over the last three.

TRENDS:

* Heat are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss.
* Over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Miami.
* Over is 5-1-1 in Heat’s last seven games following an ATS loss.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. James has averaged 34.3 points in three career Game 7s.

2. The Pacers will be playing their first conference finals Game 7 since 1998 while the Heat will be enduring a Game 7 for the second straight season after knocking off the Boston Celtics en route to the championship in 2012.

3. Miami will have F Chris Andersen, who served a one-game suspension in Game 6, available for the finale. He is 15-for-15 from the floor in the series.

Pacers, Heat Clash in Decisive Game 7 Monday

Eastern Conference Finals
Game 7 - Series tied 3-3
Tip-off: Monday, 8:30 p.m. ET
Line: Miami -7, Total: 181

After alternating wins for each of the first six games of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Heat will host the Pacers in a decisive Game 7 on Monday hoping to reach the NBA Finals for a third straight season.

In Game 5, LeBron James was able to lead Miami to a victory despite the poor play of his teammates. In Game 6, the lack of a supporting cast caught up to the Heat, who had no player other than James eclipse 10 points, in a 91-77 loss at Indiana. The well-balanced Pacers had four scorers in double-figures, including three who scored at least 16 points. They certainly played with more heart and passion on Saturday too, as they out-rebounded their opponent by a total of 20 boards (53 to 33). Indiana as a team also totaled 19 assists while the Heat shot a season-worst 36.1% FG and totaled only 10 assists, while committing 13 turnovers. So far in the playoffs, the Pacers are 12-6 ATS (67%), including 4-2 ATS in the East Finals. Although they won Game 2 at AmericanAirlines Arena, they have not been a good road bet this season, going 24-25 ATS and 22-27 SU. However, Miami is just 8-7 ATS this postseason and 25-24 ATS at home during the 2012-13 campaign, despite a 43-6 SU mark. The Heat have been resilient after losses this season though, going 16-3 SU and 13-6 ATS (68%) and outscoring these teams by 11.7 PPG. Indiana has struggled to string together win streaks though, going 32-27 SU and 27-32 ATS (46%) following an SU win this season.

The Pacers came played a spectacular game on Saturday, shutting down every single Heat player with the exception of LeBron James. SF Paul George (21.5 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 5.3 APG in series) was unstoppable all evening on his way to a playoff career-high 28 points (3-of-5 threes), eight rebounds, five assists and three steals. C Roy Hibbert (22.8 PPG, 10.8 RPG in series) continued to dominate the paint against Miami with 24 points (11-of-20 FG) and 11 rebounds in 42 minutes. Hibbert drew a huge charge on LeBron James late in the fourth that sparked a technical foul on James that ultimately took the Heat out of the game once and for all. PG George Hill (13.0 PPG, 4.7 APG in series) played his best game of the series as he found his teammates for six assists while also scoring 16 points (6-of-12 FG, 2-of-4 threes) with a +12 rating in 43 minutes. Backcourt mate SG Lance Stephenson (8.7 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 3.0 APG in series) didn't look for his shot (1-for-4 FG), but tallied 12 boards, four assists and a +18 rating. Stephenson and Hill combined for just five points in Game 5, so their improvement was a game changer for Indiana. PF David West (17.0 PPG, 9.3 RPG in series) had a quiet night offensively with 11 points on 5-of-14 shooting, but he did have a game-high 14 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a +18 rating in 36 minutes.

Miami was struggling all evening, and besides LeBron James’ 29 points (10-for-21 FG), the rest of the team shot 31.4% from the field, with the highest scorers for the Heat being PG Mario Chalmers and SG Dwyane Wade, who each had just 10 points. In addition to his scoring outburst, James (28.5 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 5.5 APG in series) also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists in 42 minutes, but still posted a game-worst rating of minus-22. He has shined in Game 7's in his career, averaging 34.3 PPG and 8.3 RPG in three such series cappers. Wade made just 3-of-11 FG in 34 minutes while also expressing his desire to touch the ball more after the game. Over the past three contests, Wade (14.5 PPG, 4.8 APG, 4.5 RPG in series) is a dreadful 11-of-34 from the floor (38% FG). PF Chris Bosh (11.3 PPG, 3.7 RPG in series) has also struggled mightily for Miami as he had just five points (1-of-8 FG) and four rebounds in 31 minutes in Game 6. Bosh has combined to tally just 19 points and 12 rebounds over the course of the last three games. Chalmers (12.0 PPG, 3.0 APG in series) scored 10 points on 3-of-8 FG, but provided little else for Miami throughout the course of the game, with zero assists, two rebounds, two turnovers and a minus-17 rating. PF Udonis Haslem (7.0 PPG, 4.0 RPG in series) exploded in Game 5 with 16 points on 8-of-9 FG, but was scoreless on Saturday, going 0-for-2 from the field and piling up four fouls in just 16 minutes of action. Miami was missing PF Chris Andersen (7.2 PPG on 15-of-15 FG in series), who was suspended for Game 6 after his cheap shot on Tyler Hansbrough, and his energy in Game 7 could give the Heat a much-needed boost.

20* Pacers/Heat Game 7 ANNIHILATOR on Indiana +7.5

The Indiana Pacers have been an extremely resilient team. They came together with a 91-77 victory in Game 6 in the face of elimination. While the Pacers are a team coming together heading into Game 7, the Heat seem to be falling apart at the seams.

Dwyane Wade wants a bigger role. Chris Bosh wants a bigger role. This has led to some turmoil within their locker room, and I simply like the mindset of the Pacers better heading into this Game 7. Miami has all of the pressure on its shoulders considering it is the favorite to win the title.

Indiana comes in as the underdog with almost no pressure on its shoulders. David West had a 103-degree temperature in Game 6, but he played through it and scored 11 points while grabbing 14 very important rebounds. The team rallied around him, and once again this moment has brought them closer together.

"We've got to do a good job of making sure me and Chris have our opportunities to succeed throughout the game," Wade said. Wade has scored a total of 20 points the past two games. He was 3 of 11 for 10 points in Game 6.

Bosh averaged 16.3 points on 11 shots in the series' first three games. In the three games since, he's averaging just 6.3 points on seven shots a game. Bosh was 1-of-8 shooting for just five points in Saturday's loss.

"We've got guys individually who want to play better," Wade said. "But we've got to try to help each other out in this locker room and not leave it up to the individual to self-will it."

"I mean, we can state the obvious; they're both struggling," Lebron James said of Wade and Bosh. "When you're struggling, the best thing to get is a layup or a dunk. [Wade] missed a couple of them ... Chris is struggling with his shot and him hurting his ankle didn't help."

Indiana is 16-7 ATS (+8.3 Units) off a home win by 10 points or more this season. Miami is 4-13 ATS (-10.3 Units) in home games after playing a road game this season. The Pacers are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The Heat are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games. Bet the Pacers in Game 7 Monday.

Bruins at Penguins: What bettors need to know

Boston Bruins at Pittsburgh Penguins (-180, 5.5)

Bruins lead best-of-seven series 1-0.

After losing their composure in the opener of the Eastern Conference final, Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins will look to keep their emotions in check on Monday as they attempt to even the series against the visiting Boston Bruins. Crosby openly questioned the officiating and reigning Hart Trophy winner Evgeni Malkin even dropped the gloves as the top-seeded Penguins suffered a 3-0 setback to the fourth-seeded Bruins on Saturday. "It's tough," said Crosby, who was penalized twice in Game 1. "They're letting a lot go out there, and the more it gets like that, the more it's going to escalate. You can only control and channel that stuff so much."

Tuukka Rask didn't have any trouble channeling his emotions as he turned aside all 29 shots he faced to record his first playoff shutout. David Krejci scored twice to increase his league-leading point total to 19 while Nathan Horton collected a goal and two assists in Saturday's triumph to improve to an NHL-best plus-17.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, NBC Sports, CBC, RDS

ABOUT THE BRUINS: Defenseman Andrew Ference didn't wait long to make a statement following a seven-game absence with a lower-body injury. Ference took an aggressive role by skating into the offensive zone before setting up Krejci's first goal at 8:23 of the first period. "Obviously it's nice, and it was very difficult to watch," Ference said of being a bystander. "It's a lot easier when you win and watch but you want to contribute, you want to be a part of it." Boston's defensemen have recorded 31 of the team's 110 points in the playoffs.

ABOUT THE PENGUINS: Tomas Vokoun didn't walk away with a victory in Game 1, but he did nothing the lose his spot as the team's starting goaltender in the eyes of coach Dan Bylsma. "We don't get this win, (but) the win and the loss isn't necessarily an indicator of what we're going to do with the goaltending situation," Bylsma said. Vokoun has posted a 6-2 mark with a 1.98 goals-against average and .937 save percentage since replacing Stanley Cup-winning netminder Marc-Andre Fleury prior to Game 6 of the first-round series versus the New York Islanders.

TRENDS:

*Under is 4-0 in the last four meetings.
*Bruins are 23-3 in their last 26 Monday games.
*Penguins are 1-6 in their last seven games following a home loss of three or more goals.

OVERTIME

1. Pittsburgh LW Matt Cooke was not subjected to additional punishment from the league following his hit on Boston D Adam McQuaid. Cooke received a five-minute major and a game misconduct after drilling McQuaid from behind at 1:32 of the second period.

2. Krejci is tied with Crosby and Penguins LW Pascal Dupuis with seven goals - one shy of Chicago C Patrick Sharp for the league lead.

3. Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play in Game 1.

Miami (other than James) was 16-51 in Game 6; Haslem was scoreless after going 8-9 from floor in Game 5. Huge question is this: who will be the Heat player to give Lebron some scoring support? Andersen comes back from suspension for Miami, which is 9-0 vs spread in game after its last nine losses, but Andersen isn't a scorer. Over is 7-3 in this round of playoffs, but last two games in this series stayed under. Stephenson is 14-31 from floor in three Indiana wins, 6-27 in its losses, but most of that damage was done in one game. Question: if Indiana is up a point in last 0:10 and Miami has ball, will Hibbert be on the floor? Ya think?

Bruins' Game 1 win ended six-game losing streak vs Pittsburgh; Boston won 32 of the 48 faceoffs in opener, their first win in last four visits here. Penguins are 5-2 at home so far in playoffs, with all three wins over Boston (3-1) this season by one goal. Both teams were 0-4 on power play in Game 1; Penguins are now 13-50, Bruins have killed 34 of 41 when a man down. Boston is 4-2 on road in the playoffs; they've won six of last seven games, streak that started with Game 7 win over Leafs, when they trailed 4-1 with 11:00 left. Over is 7-5 in Pitt's playoff games, 6-5-2 in Boston's. Penguins scored four of more goals in all eight of their playoff wins, 3-4-1-0 in their losses.

2 UNIT = Colorado Rockies @ Cincinnati Reds - ROCKIES TO WIN (+132)
Listed Pitchers: Chatwood vs Arroyo
(Note: I'm risking 2.00 units to win 2.64 units)

Colorado has won two straight games winning their weekend series vs the Dodgers to improve to 30-27 on the season (12-15 on the road). The Reds took the first two vs the Pirates but gave up a late lead yesterday to lose 5-4. They are 35-22 on the season and 20-7 at home. Tonight the Rockies send one of their biggest surprise pitchers to the mound tonight, as Tyler Chatwood takes the ball. He is 3-0 on the season over 5 starts with a 2.12 ERA, .266 OBA and 1.28 WHIP. Over his two road starts he is 2-0 and hasn't given up a run in 12 innings of work (@LAD and @SF). Also note he is 3-0 with a 1.14 ERA over 4 night starts. The Reds will have Bronson Arroyo getting the ball in game 1 of this series. He is 5-5 with a 3.75 ERA, .257 OBA and 1.17 WHIP. In his last two starts he hasn't had his best stuff allowing 14 hits and 8 earned runs over 11.2 innings of work. It was also interesting to note that Arroyo has a 1.59 ERA over 4 day games, but is just 2-5 with a 5.15 ERA over 7 night starts. Although Arroyo has 11 starts compared to 5 for Chatwood he has given up 9 homeruns so far this season, while Chatwood hasn't given up one. The Rockies are 4-1 in Chatwood's 5 starts this season while the Reds are 6-5 in Arroyo's 11 starts. Arroyo goes on 4 days rest and the Reds are 1-6 in his last 7 on 4 days rest. I like tonight's pitching match up for Colorado as Chatwood has looked good. Also mix in that the Rockies are 5th in the MLB in team batting average and team OBP and have scored 5+ runs in 4 straight games and I think we have a very live underdog at a good price. Take the Rockies tonight.

Game: Indiana at Miami (8:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: Game Total UNDER 180.5 (-110)

The Indiana Pacers kept the topsy-turvy series alive with a win at home in game six. These teams have alternated wins in each and every game of this series. The Heat scored just 77 points for the game, equaling a season low, and shot just 36.1% from the field which was a season low. The Heat were beaten off the glass by 20, but when you miss 46 shots, your opponent is going to have a lot of opportunity for rebounds. And while Indiana does have an advantage off the glass, it isn't as great as that. It all comes back to South Beach, and LeBron and company will be a lot more focused here than they were in Indiana, especially with the now one and done format. It was an ugly game for Miami, perhaps their ugliest of the season, and that has driven the public to Indiana. I expect Miami to come out with even more intensity on defense in game seven. The last 30 times the NBA has gone to a game seven, the UNDER has prevailed 63.3% of the time. These games are defined by defense, and a half court game. The Pacers have played four straight UNDERs after a 10+ point win. Play the UNDER.

15* MLB Monday Undervalued Underdog on Arizona Diamondbacks +145

The Arizona Diamondbacks are showing their best value of the season as a big road underdog to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals are getting way too much respect from oddsmakers here.

Trevor Cahill and the Diamondbacks are way undervalued heading into this one. Cahilll has posted a 2.87 ERA and 1.167 WHIP through 11 starts this season.

Cahill has posted a 3.06 ERA and 0.962 WHIP through three starts against St. Louis in his career. Lance Lynn is having a solid season for the Cardinals, but he has posted just a 4.00 ERA and 1.778 WHIP in two career starts against Arizona.

Arizona is 29-10 (+17.9 Units) against the money line after scoring 8 runs or more over the last 2 seasons. Cahill is 15-8 (+12.0 Units) against the money line as a road underdog of +100 or higher over the last 2 seasons. The Diamondbacks are 7-0 in their last 7 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. Bet Arizona Monday.

MILWAUKEE BREWERS OVER 4.5 RUNS
Ya, these Brewers have a horrid "win/loss record" vs left handed starters this season, as we know they are just (5-16). However, did u know that these Brewers rank 1st in the National League in .OPS (.755) vs left-handers, and they are tied for 2nd in HR's (20) vs lefties & they are 2nd in batting .AVG (.275) vs said southpaws......They rank in the top 10 in MLB in both .OPS and .AVG over the last week as well, so I like that they are swinging the stixx with confidence right now. Now we have Tommy Millone on the hill for these A's. The fact is that this guy just does not like pitching away from Oakland Coliseum. I won't bore with the stats/facts, but this guy has been horrid in all but 1 start this season. Much of the same from Tommy last season as well, fared much much better at home, opposed to the road. He is a fly ball pitcher too, and Miller Park is a hitters park, and a does yield more than it's share of HR's. Add on the fact that both their 8th inning man (Cook) and closer (Balfour) pitched the last two nights, and freak show lefty Doolittle has struggled of late, too. Let's cash in tonight, fellas.

Chicago White Sox (Danks) at Seattle (Saunders) (-110) 10:10 ET
5* Seattle (Saunders) (-110)

History conflicts with current form in this which clearly favors Seattle. CWS has a great history against the Mariners. They are 26-5 including 8-0 at this site posting a 1.73 ERA and .292 BA in those 8 wins. As well, today’s starter Danks is 7-0 with a 1.31 ERA vs. Seattle. But the current form of CWS and Danks belies that history. The Pale Hose enter today on a 0-6 slide in which they have been outscored 33-9. In addition, they have dropped 7 straight road games. Danks is not the pitcher who compiled that 7-0 record. Danks makes his 3rd start following shoulder surgery. In his most recent outing, Danks allowed 4 runs in 4 IP vs. the Cubs. The Mariners are a bit cold themselves at 4-12 of late being outscored 88-53. But in Saunders, they send a pitcher to the hill who has been incredible from this mound. Lifetime, Saunders is 9-1 with a 2.23 ERA in 14 starts in Seattle. That includes 3-1 with a 2.45 ERA in 5 trips to this mound this year. Let’s play the home form of Saunders against a visitor and their starter who have lost their way.

BIG AL's 100% PERFECT (9-0 ATS) NBA ELITE INFO!
At 8:30 pm, our selection in Game 7 is on the Miami Heat minus the points over Indiana. We played on the 'under' in Game 6, and stayed away from the side. But we'll step in and take the Miami Heat off that 91-77 loss. First of all, the Heat have been terrific off a loss -- both in this year's playoffs and dating back to the regular season. Indeed, since January 12, the Heat is a dominant 9-0 straight up and against the spread off a loss. And all nine wins have been by double digits (an average of 19.55 ppg, with the three playoff wins by an average of 22 ppg). It's common knowledge that the home teams have dominated Game 7s in the NBA Playoffs. Since 1991, they're 40-8 straight up and 30-16-2 ATS when favored by more than three points. Take the Heat. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.

527 IND / 528 MIA UNDER 181.5 SportsInterAction triple-dime bet

Analysis:
The first four games of this Eastern Conference Finals series went over the total by a combined 44 points. The last two went under by a combined 29 1/2 points.
So what happens here with Game 7? The under trend continues is the way I see it. The Pacers win with defense and playing half-court. They are certainly not going to go away from that style in this pivotal Game 7. The Heat are an underrated defensive team. They can play defense as well as any team when they want to - and they certainly want to here.
The combination of a cautious, half-court game with neither team opting to take chances should result in a third straight low-scoring game.
We know the Pacers aren't a big scoring team. They were 23rd in scoring during the regular season and 26th in field goal percentage. The Heat are far more explosive. However, their key bench scorers are cold, Dwayne Wade is far fro ¿m 100 percent and Chris Bosh is in a funk.
Ray Allen and Shane Battier are a combined 15-for-62 (24%) from the floor in the series. They have missed a combined 30 of 39 shots from beyond the arc. They can't be counted on and neither can Wade nor Bosh. Wade is averaging 12 points during the last three games while shooting 32 percent from the floor during this span. Bosh is averaging a puny 6.3 points in his last three games on 24 percent shooting from the field.

4-unit Play Take #955 Colorado Rockies (+130) over Cincinnati Reds (7:10pm ET) Tyler Chatwood appears as if he's finally figured things out at the big league level. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 2.12 ERA and 1.28 WHIP on the season and that includes half of his starts in Coors Field. While he still has a lot to prove to stay in the rotation, he's come a long way. His career ERA coming into this season hovered around 5.00 and he had no confidence. He looks much more comfortable out there now and he's shown a great ability to keep the ball down and induce plenty of groundballs to the tune of a whopping 58% groundball rate. That really comes in handy in home run parks like Coors and Great American Ballpark, where today's game is being played. Veteran Bronson Arroyo goes for the Cincinnati Reds today. The 36-year old can still pitch but his skills are slowly eroding. He relies a lot more on his control as he doesn't have the stuff he once did. The Rockies have hit well against Arroyo in his career and today should be no different. The Rockies have really turned some heads this year, and one of the reasons is their outstanding bullpen work. The bullpen unit has been near the top of the league all season long despite the fact that they pitch in a hitter-friendly environment at home. Today's game should be a tight one, and could very easily come down to the bullpens. As a result, we'll take the Rockies today in this one.

4-unit Play Take #957 Arizona Diamondbacks (+140) over St. Louis Cardinals (8:15pm ET) It's a battle of first place teams as the St. Louis Cardinals host the Arizona Diamondbacks today in Busch Stadium. We have two consistent starting pitchers going at it in this one and two offenses that know what to do with the bat. Trevor Cahill is one of the most consistent pitchers in all of baseball over the last two seasons. In his last 35 starts dating back to last season, Cahill has yielded more than four earned runs just one time. That is really amazing when you think about it. As a result, he's kept his team in every game and that is huge for a well-rounded team like Arizona. Lance Lynn has been pretty good since earning a rotation spot to begin the 2012 season. His ERA last season was 3.78 and this season he's improved to 2.91. His mound presence is fantastic and he's been good enough to finally convince the Cardinals that he's never going back to the bullpen to make way for any of their young talent. Overall, I grade these two pitchers similarly. However, Cahill has better career numbers against the Cardinals than Lynn does against the D-backs, so slight edge to Arizona there. As for the offenses, these two teams are very close once again. The Cardinals are 3rd in the National League in runs scored, while Arizona is 6th. However, Arizona has a higher OPS and they've dealt with more injuries earlier in the year. When it comes to bullpens, Arizona has clearly outperformed the Cardinals this season and defensively Arizona is the better team as well. All in all, these teams are very evenly-matched so we'll gladly take +140 with Arizona today.

Best of Luck - Doc's Sports

NBA action report: Early money likes Pacers, late action on under

The NBA Eastern Conference finals have come down to one game, with the Indiana Pacers putting up a good fight against the reigning champion Miami Heat. We talk to Michael Stewart, an oddsmaker at CarbonSports.ag, about the action coming in on tonight’s deciding contest:

Indiana Pacers at Miami Heat – Open: -7, Move: -6.5, Move: -7.5

Depending on where you play, the Heat opened at -6.5 or -7 and early money took the road underdog and knocked the spread down to -6.5. The public is beginning to wake up and wager on the Heat, balancing out the Game 7 handle at most books. Some online and Nevada markets are dealing Miami as high as -7.5.

“Since going to 6.5, we've booked nothing but dead even action at that number,” Stewart told Covers. “So while we're a tiny bit long on the Pacers due to that money bet at +7, we're very happy with our position right now. The way the action is shaping up, I just can't see us moving off this number but we might adjust the juice if we feel it's warranted.”

As for the total for Game 7, the number opened at 181 and drew early attention to the over. Books are dealing between 180.5 and 181.5, depending on where you shop, but sharp money is starting to show on the under.

The Heat and Pacers played over in the first four games of the series but have stayed below the total in the last two, combining for 169 and 168 points in those outings.

“At 182, we booked sharp money under that number and quickly went back to 181.5 and haven't moved off that number,” says Stewart. “So far, 65 percent of the action is on the over and we like our position right now.”

Bettors believe in Spurs with East finals going the distance

The San Antonio Spurs are the Robert Redfords of the NBA, looking better and better with age.

And, with the Eastern Conference finals stretching the full seven games and San Antonio making quick work of the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western championship, the Spurs have never been more attractive to bettors heading into the NBA Finals.

According to online book CarbonSports.ag, the longer the Eastern finals have drawn out the more money is convinced San Antonio can win the NBA title. The Spurs were priced at +200 to win the championship after sweeping the Grizzlies on May 27 and have been bet down to as low as +150 heading into Game 7 of the Eastern Conference championship.

“Once the Heat showed their vulnerability against the Pacers, we've written a ton of Spurs future money,” Michael Stewart, an oddsmaker with CarbonSports.ag, told Covers. “Most of that money has come at +200, +180 and now +150.”

Stewart says the possible series prices for the NBA Finals will have San Antonio set around the same odds versus the Miami Heat (-220) but the Spurs could be as low as -200 against the Indiana Pacers, giving great value to those who grabbed up the Western Conference champs early.

“If that's the case, all those Spurs future tickets look great going into Thursday night's Game 1,” says Stewart.

The NBA Should Root for the Pacers

It's Game 7 time in the Pacers-Heat series.

Obviously there are good and bad points for each team in trying to determine the outcome. One plus for Miami is that David Stern, the networks and league don't want to see an Indiana-San Antonio championship series.

Yes, that matchup wouldn't be nearly the draw of having the defending world champion Heat and LeBron James in.

But maybe if that happened - where the Pacers got a fair shake from the officials and pulled the upset - this conspiracy type of thinking would cease to be a legitimate handicapping angle.

This negative public perception doesn't apply to the NFL nor to baseball. It's a real black eye for Stern and the NBA that many people feel a small market team such as Indiana will get screwed.

A fairly officiated game with a Pacers victory as the outcome would kill ratings for the championship series. But it would do more good in the long run for the NBA by restoring perception credibility.

Pacers/Heat Game 7

Game Seven. There is nothing better.

Heat - 6.5 over Pacers

I am not one to say games are set up but the NBA would prefer the Heat play in the finals. Nobody wants a Spurs/Pacers meeting. Its bad for ratings. Its game seven and anything can happen however I am just going to go with the team that has the big named players and the best player in the game right now. If they fail to cover then so be it. Take the Heat
