Interesting. Bigfoot should have the edge. Power to hunt if he can get the ko.

Shogun vs James Te Huna

That's an interesting match-up.

I wonder how much longer Shogun is even going to fight. I can't help but think that retirement is coming any day now.

poopoo333

It looks like they are attempting to give him a "gimme fight" so he doesn't have to face that decision.

SPX

I'd say Vera was a gimme fight, but Te Huna has a legit shot here. I obviously favor Shogun and I do think he'll win but I wouldn't bet him at -500 or anything crazy like that.

edman5555

Thats actually a rough matchup for shogun in my opinion. Te huna can wrestle and take a hell of a punch. I could see shogun submitting him on the ground though.

Shogun via better wrestling

Soa Palelei vs. Pat Barry added to UFC Fight Night 33 in Australia

RIP Palelei

Goddamn it, if Barry manages to lose this . . . sad days . . .

Soa could turn out to be horrible but I'm not certain yet that he is. He went into his last fight with Krylov with a broken rib and made it three rounds to win it. That's not too bad in my book. He claims he couldn't breathe very well because the rib hurt like hell every time he inhaled. I still like Barry in this one because his standup is so much better and I'm not sure Paleleis takedowns will be good enough get barry down and hold him down. I wouldn't be shocked to see Soa win though. It's not like Barry is really that awesome, just good enough to beat Soa. Either way there should be some good value on Soa in his third ufc fight if he loses to Barry.

I didn't even watch that recent Soa fight. Link it.

Soa could turn out to be horrible but I'm not certain yet that he is.

I don't think it's necessarily a matter of Soa turning out to be HORRIBLE as it's a matter of him turning out to be just not a UFC level HW. I bet he ends up being the kind of guy who can beat other guys who quickly wash out (your Mustafa Al-Turk's of the world, if you will) but he loses any time he fights an established fighter who has actually won some fights and stayed on the roster for a little while.

I don't know if you still listen to the Roundtable on SD but Breen was talking about how Soa has again and again and again shown that he has very poor cardio through his entire career. If he goes out there against someone like Barry, who is not known as a big gasser, he could MAYBE win round 1 via wrestling (though I think Barry has shown improved wrestling/grappling lately) but after that Barry should be able to easily just beat his tired ass up. In fact, my official prediction is Barry via (T)KO in the 2nd, and he may even get it in the 1st.

I agree with what you wrote.

SPX

Basically, what I'm saying is that if Soa is still somehow on the roster two years from now then it's because he's found his niche as the lowest level of gatekeeper: The type that fights new, recently signed fighters of questionable talent in order to test them to see if they have any business at all being in the organization. So, guys like Krylov.

Speaking of Nikita Krylov, you gotta love this pic:

Why are they setting up the aussies to lose?

What are Soa's chances of getting inside for a takedown without getting blasted?

SPX

Why are they setting up the aussies to lose?

Maybe they just don't care that much about Australia. Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that Aussie's won't riot in the streets like Brazilians if all their fighters don't win.

What are Soa's chances of getting inside for a takedown without getting blasted?

I wouldn't be surprised to see him get Barry down at some point, but even if he does, I don't think he'll be able to put Barry away and it's only a matter of time before Barry is the fresher fighter and can just tee off on him.

Te Huna -130
Shogun -110

Bigfoot -160
Hunt +130

Thoughts?

I dont want to touch either one really. Maybe main event doesnt go five round distance. With bigfoots chin and hunts shitty bjj i doubt it goes that far. That said i could see them both so gassed that nobody gets the finish.

Te huna will probably win that one imo. I doubt he finishes shogun inside three rounds. Most likely he goes for the takedown game for this fight. Even if he stuns shogun he will probably try to take him down from there. We could see a shogun submission win. Im not entirely impressed with tehunas jiu nitsu.

I like Shogun and Bighead

poopoo333
12-01-2013, 05:03 PM
I actually think Shogun will be at the advantage if he comes to bring the fight to the ground. Shogun -110 is generous imo. He has definitely regressed but I think he matches up well with Te Huna. And this is coming from someone who fades the fuck out of Shogun.

I kind of like Hunt here to be honest. I think he gets the KO.

I dont think much of Te Huna, so that's why I like Shogun. Even 50% Shogun is better than Te huna, I think.

As for Hunt, I look at it as if Fedor and Overeem couldn't put Bigfoot away how can Hunt? Reem has just as much power as Hunt and couldn't put him away and Fedor has faster hands and couldn't do it. It wouldn't shock me if this fight looked just like the Bigfoot-Fedor fight.

I'm all for Bigfoot in this one to finish Hunt. Hope a lot of Aussies and Hunt fans lay sentimental money on him and move the line lower for Bigfoot. I favor Rua too against Te Huna.

My UFN 33 Fight Picks

I may have gone a little overboard betting *all* the fights and my entire bankroll again but it worked for me last week and I only had 6 out of 10 fight picks correct and only eight out fifteen wagers as winners.

$50.00 to win $8.77 Alex Garcia -570* vs Ben Wall
$50.00 to win $25.00 Bruno Santos -200* vs Krzysztof Jotko
$50.00 to win $21.74 Justin Scoggins -230* vs Richie Vaculik
$50.00 to win $23.26 Nick Ring -215* vs Caio Magalhaes
$100.00 to win $35.71 Takeya Mizugaki -280* vs Nam Phan
$50.00 to win $23.81 Julie Kedzie -210* vs Bethe Correia
$50.00 to win $65.00 Clint Hester +130* vs Dylan Andrews
$100.00 to win $68.97 Pat Barry -145* vs Soa Palelei
$100.00 to win $21.05 Ryan Bader -475* vs Anthony Perosh
$100.00 to win $110.00 Mauricio Rua +110* vs James Te Huna
$100.00 to win $74.07 Antonio Silva -135* vs Mark Hunt

I have a feeling this is going to be an *under* kind of night with the main card fights:

$25.00 to win $14.29 Soa Palelei/Pat Barry Under 1½ -175*
$25.00 to win $15.63 Anthony Perosh/Ryan Bader Under 1½ -160*
25.00 to win $33.75 James Te Huna/Mauricio Rua Under 1½ +135*
25.00 to win $18.52 Mark Hunt/Antonio Silva Under 1½ -135*

I agree with many of you guys on this one, although I see some of you got better odds than I did:
$50.00 to win $57.50 Mizugaki wins by 3 round decision +115

I like Rua & Silva and I think the main & co-main events won't see the final bell:
$25.00 to win $51.00 Rua wins inside distance +204
$25.00 to win $28.25 Silva wins inside distance +113

I parlayed Bader & Barry both as winners inside the distance:
$25.00 to win $41.42 2-Team Parlay Bader wins inside distance -190* + Barry wins inside distance -135

I actually was *trying* to bet these four main card fight winners as six 2-team round robin parlays but I mistakenly did them as four 3-team parlays (so $10 x 4 or $40 total to win $136.03)
Antonio Silva + Mauricio Rua + Ryan Bader + Pat Barry

And lastly just for fun a few bucks on an 11-team parlay picking winners in all eleven fights: $5.78 to win $628.93 Silva, Rua, Bader, Barry, Hester, Mizugaki, Kedzie, Ring, Scoggins, Santos, Garcia

By the way I don't see FOTN, SOTN, KOTN on any of the books!

Total Risk: $1,070.78
