The rough outing snapped his 16-inning scoreless streak and raised Koehler’s ERA from 1.99 to 2.57. The 27-year-old is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two career starts against the Giants.

•Giants RH Tim Lincecum (3-2, 4.78 ERA, WHIP: 1.546) - Lincecum turned in a stellar effort against the Atlanta Braves on Monday, allowing one run on two hits with 11 strikeouts over a season-high 7 2/3 innings. “It was vintage Timmy the way he had his good secondary pitches going along with the fastball,” manager Bruce Bochy told MLB.com. Garrett Jones is 4-for-17 with eight strikeouts against the two-time Cy Young Award winner, who is 2-1 with a 3.71 ERA in five career starts against Miami.

•Pacers Close Out Wizards To Get To Rematch With Heat: For the Indiana Pacers to finally put away the Washington Wizards and reach the finals in the East, it turns out they needed a starry performance from forward David West. Now the Midwestern power gets another crack at the champions from South Beach. West scored 29 points and forward Lance Stephenson had 17 as the Pacers closed out their Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Wizards with a 93-80 victory on Thursday night. Indiana won the series 4-2.

Indiana reached the conference finals for the second straight season and will face the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat. The conference regular season champions made it back despite laboring over the final weeks of the season and at times in the first two rounds of the playoffs. They made it back despite a brutal 102-79 loss at home on Tuesday and the Wizards rallying to take the lead with over eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter in Game #6 on Thursday. West made sure a second chance to close out Washington didn't lead to Game #7.

Guard Bradley Beal's 3-pointer gave the Wizards a 74-73 lead with 8:31 remaining after Washington had trailed by 16 earlier in the half. The veteran Pacers pushed right back, though, with West scoring eight points during a decisive 17-2 run. Indiana held Washington to one field goal during the seven-minute stretch. Indiana, which shot 51.4 percent, won all three games in Washington and is 5-1 on the road this postseason. Forward Paul George added 12 points and center Roy Hibbert and guard George Hill each had 11. Indiana coach Frank Vogel praised his team's toughness before singling out his leading scorer: "David West in particular led the way."

Center Marcin Gortat scored 19 points and Beal added 16 for the Wizards. "I guess it was just a bigger will of winning the game, and unfortunately we were not able to close it," Gortat said. Washington outrebounded Indiana 62-23 in Game #5 and had more boards in Game #6, winning the battle on the glass for the fifth time in the series. However, the final count was a modest 40-38, not enough of an advantage to help the Wizards offset 39.2 shooting.

Despite being the team preferring a slow tempo, the Pacers matched the Wizards with 10 fast-break points. Indiana held Washington without a fast-break point in the first half after doing the same in the second half of its 95-92 comeback win in Game #4. The Pacers opened their largest lead at 56-40 after scoring the first four points of the third quarter. The Wizards slowly pulled closer, trailing 71-63 after the third, and then exploded with an 11-2 run opening the fourth. Beal's pull-up 3-pointer on a fast break gave Washington its first lead since the first quarter. West hit consecutive step-back jumpers to put Indiana ahead for good.

Guard John Wall played the entire second half for the Wizards and finished with 12 points, nine assists and five turnovers. Power forward Nene had 15 points. Before this season, the Wizards had not reached the playoffs since 2008. "I couldn't be more proud of a group of guys than I am of these guys," said head coach Randy Wittman, who was in the final year of his contract. "They gave me their heart and soul this year. They let me ride them; they let me love them."

Indiana has lost to Miami in consecutive postseasons, including 4-3 in the 2013 Eastern Conference finals. Now comes the rematch. The Heat closed out the Brooklyn Nets, winning the series 4-1. "We've got home court, which is a good thing," West said of the upcoming matchup. "It's going to come down to the details, who is going to be able to impose their will on the defensive end, being able to take care of the ball."

NOTES: Indiana shot 58.8 percent in the first half.... The Verizon Center originally had a scheduling conflict for Game #6 due to a Lady Gaga concert, which ended up being moved to May 12.... Gortat and F Trevor Ariza are the Wizards' notable free agents entering the offseason. The franchise has still not won a playoff game beyond the first round since reaching the NBA Finals in 1979.

•Thunder Eliminate Clippers, Will Face Spurs Next: The weight of the Oklahoma City Thunder, a Game #5 meltdown and the Donald Sterling controversy apparently were too much for the Los Angeles Clippers to bear. Thunder forward Kevin Durant scored 25 of his 39 points in the second half, and Oklahoma City eliminated the Clippers with a 104-98 victory in Game #6 of the Western Conference semifinals at Staples Center on Thursday night. The Thunder advanced to the Western Conference finals, where they will meet the San Antonio Spurs. Game #1 will be played Monday in San Antonio.

Guard Russell Westbrook added 19 points, 17 of them in the second half, and 12 assists for the Thunder, who trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half before rallying in the third quarter. Durant hit eight of 11 from the field in the second half. He also went 10-for-10 at the foul line, seven of them after intermission. Oklahoma City also got strong performances from Reggie Jackson and backup center Steven Adams. Jackson came off the bench to score 14 points, including 3-for-5 on 3-pointers, and Adams finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Point guard Chris Paul scored 25 points, handed out 11 assists and grabbed seven rebounds for Los Angeles. Forward Blake Griffin contributed 22 points, eight rebounds and eight assists before fouling out with 2:27 remaining in the game. Guard J.J. Redick chipped in 16 points. The Clippers seemed to run out of gas in the second half. Los Angeles coach Doc Rivers wouldn't use the devastating Game #5 loss Tuesday, when the Clippers blew a seven-point lead in the final 50 seconds, as an excuse. Nor did he blame the outrage surrounding Sterling, who was banned for life by the NBA, and his racist comments as contributing to his team's demise. Rivers, though, admitted they were a distraction.

Paul's jumper with about eight minutes remaining tied the score at 80, but the Thunder answered with a 10-0 run capped by a 3-pointer from Jackson. Two buckets by Paul closed the margin to 90-84, but Oklahoma City pushed the lead back to double digits after two free throws by Westbrook made it 97-86 with 2:27 left. The Clippers made a run in the final two minutes. Paul converted a three-point play with 1:49 remaining, and forward Matt Barnes hit a shot in the lane to cut the deficit to 97-93 with 49.8 seconds remaining. However, free throws by Westbrook, Durant and Jackson sealed the win for the Thunder.

Oklahoma City played much of the second half without forward Serge Ibaka, who suffered a calf injury in the third quarter and did not return. Ibaka finished with six points and two rebounds in 26 minutes. The Clippers led 50-42 at halftime, but the Thunder outplayed them in the third quarter, outscoring Los Angeles 30-22 to pull even at 72 at the end of the period. Durant scored 14 points in the quarter, hitting all five of his field-goal attempts. Center DeAndre Jordan had 15 rebounds and nine points for the Clippers.

NOTES: Los Angeles coach Doc Rivers on being fined $25,000 for criticizing the officiating after Game #5: "I don't care about the fine. I thought it was deserved." He added that two Clippers employees asked his personal assistant if they could do payroll deductions of $100 each to help pay the fine. "Which we obviously denied," Rivers said with a laugh.... The Thunder are 3-4 after a playoff win following their Game #6 victory.... The game drew a sellout crowd of 19,565.

He faced Colorado earlier this season and lasted just 4.2 innings giving up 6 hits and 3 earned runs. He hasn't been the only lefty to struggle against the Rockies, as Colorado ranks 1st in the MLB in team batting average vs lefties at .307 and well ahead in 1st in OPS at .854. On the other hand the Padres will be facing a righty in Jordan Lyles, and the Padres rank dead last in the MLB in team batting average (.213) and OPS vs righties (.594). Lyles has had a rough MLB career up until 2014, but he looks like a different pitcher this year. So far over 8 starts he is 5-0 with a 2.66 ERA, .223 OBA and 1.09 WHIP. At home this year he is a solid 3-0 with a 1.25 ERA, .221 OBA and 0.97 WHIP over his first three starts. The Padres are just 2-5 in Erlin's last 7 road starts and 1-5 in his last 6 starts overall. The Rockies are 4-1 in Lyle's last 5 starts. I'll lay a bit of chalk taking the Rockies here at home.

The UNDER is also 4-0 in Tomlin's last 4 home starts, and 5-1-1 in his last 7 starts as a home underdog. These two teams have played to the UNDER is 34 of their last 51 meetings. Back today after a winner with the Blue Jays a couple days ago. I only had a lean yesterday, which was on the Dodgers. As I write this they are up 7-0 so it looks like I left some money out there. Oh well, I am looking to cash in on this Dodgers game regardless.
We already know what Clayton Kershaw brings to the equation, but Chase Anderson is probably a question mark for many people. He has been stashed away in the Diamondback minor league system for a few years now and is finally getting a chance at the major league level. It has been hard for Arizona to ignore the guy considering what he has done at the minor league level posting a 0.69 ERA in 39 innings pitched. In his first start in the majors he was flawless against the White Sox, allowing just 2 hits and a run. Nobody in MLB has seen Anderson before. Many pitchers use that to their advantage as they make a transition to this level. The White Sox OBP was kept low at .167, as well as Anderson's WHIP with 0.56. Not a big enough sample size to deem that he is for real, but given how he did in the minors and how his first start went, this one is big. The sample size on Kershaw is already large enough over his career to lead us to the conclusion that he is a stud. I would say, though, he had a down game in his last start. 3 runs allowed for Kershaw is like 5 for anyone else. He has only had three starts this season due to injury with that being his highest runs allowed. Prior to that he gave up no runs and 1. Both of those were on the road, which puts his road ERA at 0.66. Overall Kershaw boasts an impressive 1.74 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. I like him to come out strong and do exactly what Greinke did last night. The Diamondbacks' run output should be scarce in this series. Anderson has shutdown whatever has been put in his way in 2014. For this to go over I think he would need to get shellacked, which hasn't happened in 44 innings pitched. 39 of them in the minors, but he was really doing something right to hold a 0.69 ERA. No matter what level it is, that is impressive. It will be the UNDER 8 for me here.

Saturday's MLB betting cheat sheet: Few big moneyline plays

Here's a comprehensive look at betting notes for Saturday's major league games:

Bunches of Blankings

A whopping six teams were shut out on a night where pitching shone. Boston, Texas, Kansas City, the Los Angeles Angels, Philadelphia and Arizona all finished with zeroes on the scoreboard; despite this, the Under enjoyed only a modest 6-7-1 edge on the evening.

No Help For Yu

Texas ace Yu Darvish was on the receiving end of yet another poor effort from the Rangers' lineup, which managed just three hits in a 2-0 loss to Drew Hutchison and the Toronto Blue Jays (+155). Texas has been shut out in each of Darvish's previous four losses, including his only two this season.

No Big Favorites

Expect plenty of tightly contested games Saturday, with several tight moneylines on the ledger; Toronto and Texas are both -104 while Minnesota is a narrow -108 favorite against Seattle and Houston is -115 versus the White Sox. The biggest fave of the day: the Dodgers, who are -160 at Arizona.

Pitching Notes

* Oakland Athletics left-hander Scott Kazmir has been one of the top money earners so far this season, entering the weekend ranked ninth in the majors at $504. Kazmir looks like good value Saturday as he leads the Athletics (-136, 7.5) against a Cleveland team that was thumped 11-1 in the series opener.

* Philadelphia Phillies lefty Cole Hamels is on a strong Over roll, going 5-1-1 O/U in his last seven starts dating back to last September; unfortunately, he's also 1-6 against the moneyline over that stretch. Hamels and the Phillies (-117, 7.5) entertain the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.

Batting Notes

* Toronto outfielder Melky Cabrera singled home both runs in Friday's narrow triumph over the Rangers. The Blue Jays are 8-4 against the moneyline and 7-4-1 O/U in games in which Cabrera records at least one RBI going into Saturday's rematch with Texas.

* Braves outfielder Jason Heyward is mired in a 6-for-37 slump and hasn't recorded a multi-hit game since May 2. Atlanta, which is 5-6 against the money line and 2-8-1 O/U in that span, visits the St. Louis Cardinals (-119, 7) in a Saturday matinee game.

Totals Streak

Oakland Athletics (7-2-1 O/U): The Athletics have been running roughshod over the rest of the league, reeling off victories in seven of their last eight games while averaging better than 6.5 runs per game over that stretch - including 11-run outbursts in two of their last three contests.

Prop of the Day

The Los Angeles Angels are +220 to prevail by three or more runs against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday. All but one of Angels starter C.J. Wilson's outings this season have been decided by three runs or more; the Angels are 4-4 overall in Wilson's starts, including a 2-2 mark at home.

Injury Notes

* Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto has been diagnosed with a strained quad but has not been placed on the disabled list. Votto has just 10 hits over his previous 55 at-bats, a major reason why the Reds are 4-11-1 O/U during his prolonged slump.

* Minnesota Twins outfielder Josh Willingham (wrist) went 0-for-4 in a minor-league rehab assignment. Minnesota is +510 units without the services of Willingham, who is expected to be activated from the 15-day disabled list sometime next week.

Weather Watch

* Fans at Wrigley Field will be treated to wind blowing out to right field at 6 mph for Saturday afternoon's game between the Cubs and the visiting Milwaukee Brewers (-117). Teams combined to average nearly 11 runs per game in 10 contests under similar conditions last season.

Umpire Note of the Day

Over is 10-1 in umpire Ed Hickox's last 11 games behind home plate involving the New York Mets. Hickox will be calling the balls and strikes as New York visits Washington (-152, 7.5).

Game of the Day: Tigers at Red Sox

Detroit Tigers at Boston Red Sox (-125, 8.5)

The Detroit Tigers are trying to get some revenge for a loss in the American League Championship Series and are off to a good start. The Tigers will try to clinch the three-game series when they visit the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. Detroit, which suffered a 4-2 loss to the Red Sox in the ALCS, took Friday’s opener 1-0 as Max Scherzer outdueled Jon Lester in a game that was played through rain.

Boston has dropped three of its last four games to drop below .500 at 20-21 and is having some problems offensively from everyone other than David Ortiz. Boston managed three hits in Friday’s setback and Jackie Bradley Jr. (.200) and Will Middlebrooks (.197) are producing very little from the bottom of the order. Torii Hunter became a key figure in the ALCS when he tumbled into the Boston bullpen trying to catch Ortiz’s grand slam in Game 2. Hunter got some personal revenge on Friday as the only player in the contest with multiple hits, including the lone RBI.

Porcello has won five straight starts and allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his last three turns. The 25-year-old has issued only six walks in 44 2/3 innings and is fully recovered from the tightness in his left side that forced him to leave a start at Baltimore on Monday after six innings. Porcello was removed from the rotation for the playoffs last October and got in one appearance in the ALCS against the Red Sox, surrendering an unearned run on two hits without recording an out.

Lackey is just as sharp as Porcello of late and has allowed two or fewer earned runs in four straight starts after holding the Texas Rangers to two runs over seven innings last weekend. The veteran struck out nine in that turn and owns 52 punchouts in 53 innings. Lackey made one start against the Tigers in the ALCS and yielded four hits and struck out eight in 6 2/3 scoreless innings to pick up the Game 3 win.

Three big betting trends for the NHL playoffs conference finals

Only four teams remain in the quest for the Stanley Cup championship - and bettors will want to pay attention to certain trends that have highlighted conference finals in recent years.

Here are three trends betters should be on the lookout for as the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks face off for a spot in the Stanley Cup final:

Under a (Slightly) Stronger Play

Despite oddsmakers making adjustments to account for the greater emphasis on defense, teams have still trended Under of late. While clubs are 18-19-4 O/U in conference finals over the past four years, three of the previous four series have favored the Under; only last year's Chicago-Los Angeles series (2-2-1 O/U) did not. Expect low totals this year, with three of the four finalists ranked in the bottom half in regular-season offense and all four in the top 12 in goals against.

Comebacks (Slightly) More Common

Teams that scored first in the regular season prevailed roughly 69.5 percent of the time. That number dips slightly when looking at the previous four conference finals, with teams that hit the scoresheet first winning 68.2 percent of those games. Recent comebacks have been more prevalent in the Western Conference; the teams scoring first are just 6-4 over the past two conference finals, compared to a 10-0 mark for Eastern Conference teams that score first.

Power Outages Expected

Don't expect to see many power-play goals in either conference championship series. Last year saw just three power-play goals scored in the nine conference final games; there were 11 the season before, but those came in 95 combined opportunities. Aside from the Vancouver-San Jose outlier series in 2010-11 - in which the teams combined for a mind-boggling 16 man-advantage goals in their five-game showdown - no other series since 2010 has had more than eight.

Rangers-Canadiens matchup trending towards under

The Montreal Canadiens host the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals Saturday afternoon and thanks to two superb goaltenders the under has been a strong play in the matchup.

The under is 7-0-2 in the last nine meetings between the two teams and is 6-0-2 in the last eight meetings at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

The Rangers Henrik Lundquvist has had a slightly better postseason than the Habs Carey Price, posting 1.99 goals against average and a .939 save percentage compared to Price's 2.15 gga and .926 save percentage, but both net minders have been spectacular.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny has recently called his team’s toughness into question and the Cardinals responded Friday night with a 5-2 win over the Braves. Today, they try and make it two in a row over Atlanta as the Cards send Shelby Miller (5-2, 3.22 ERA) to the mound to oppose the Braves Aaron Harang (4-3, 2.98 ERA) Miller had a pretty rough start to the season but has been really good for the Cards over his last four starts, posting a 2.86 ERA in those starts. He’s also gotten some really good run production as the Cardinals have scored 19 runs in Miller’s last three starts. Annother interesting trend here today is that the Cards are 9-1 in Miller’s last 10 home starts as a favorite. Analysis: Why is there a .30-.40 line move in this game? Makes no sense, or does it. With the ineptness of the Padres against RHP this season, you’d not expect this, especially with Lyles being more of a groundball pitcher. But, Lyles has had two straight games over 100+ pitches. He did that a fair bit early last season, and only one time late and the second time he was simply lit up at home by the Reds. Perhaps at 23 the kid just can’t do that yet. And last season, at home, he was simply horrible, with a 6.60 ERA and a .297 BAA. I get that that was then and this is now, but there is no way he has turned into Sandy Koufax in the off-season. The current Padres roster has 22 hits in 57 at-bats (.386) against him, so something’s got to give. Erlins’ got a WHIP of 1.24 over the course of the season, which is simply quite good. The only game he was really torched was at Washington, but he too has thrown a lot of pitches, which is why I also lean to the over. If the lineups are stupid, I’ll probably add that, but in the end it’s the Padres bullpen that makes the difference in this game, IMO.

*I suppose if I could still get 7 (we can) I’d have to take the over in the Cubs game. Cannot fathom, even with marginal weather, that it’s a pitchers’ duel.

*I STILL can’t bring myself to take Atlanta, but sooner or later they’re going to go off on someone and they do have the better bullpen.

*I can’t fathom the Mets beating Gio, either. BUT, the total coming down is a bit concerning. We know the Nats don’t fare as well against RHP, but it’s Bartolo, who we’ve made a living fading. Have to think the Nationals win this, somehow.

*I really want to take the over (at 7 perhaps) in the Phillies game. Neither team hitting a lick lately, but neither starter get anyone out, and both SP’s can hit a little.

*Anderson has had one good game for the D-Backs. How do you fade Kershaw, who’s also like another stick in the order. I’d have to lean under, at least F5 because the Dodgers haven’t seen Anderson, and PERHAPS the D-Backs RL.

*Lots of early love for Lincecum, but I can’t fade Koehler, either. I’d love to find a way to take the under here, if for no other reason the Giants pen at home is that much better. Perhaps Fish RL with low total and reasonably priced.

*Some early money on Houston, and I do like Cosart at home (he’s from nearby League City) but when Houston stops hitting, they stop hitting. If you made me, Houston and/or over.

*Tough to fade the A’s, too, especially w/Kazmir pitching, and the Indians simply suck against LHP. Tomlin had a couple of good outings, but sooner or later………lean under.
Hard to imagine Boston losing two straight at home, but the Tigers are finding ways to win. If Porcello finds a way to keep the ball down, this game stays under, IMO.

*Again, sooner or later the Royals will score, but staying far away for the time being. If you made me, I would indeed take them. Duffy has been decent, and that’s all there is to that.
If the Twins had seen Elias at all, I’d take them, and still might. Seattle one of the better hitting teams on the road, so lean over there.

*As always, we’d have to fade Texas against a LHP, inasmuch as Buerhle always kills me and Ross has this season as well.

*I do not think Phelps should be -135 to the Pirates w/all their LHH’s in and a DH as well.
