7-Unit Play. Take #651 Toronto -2.5 over Detroit (Tuesday, March 24th at 7:35 p.m.) My spreadsheet has Toronto winning this game by a final score of 106-95. The key components in this matchup are: recent form and current roster/health Detroit has won two in a row (Boston and Chicago) but overall they have really struggled since trading away Brandon Knight. They lost ten games in a row and they simply haven’t been the same. Some of that is due to injuries and they are still ailing. Monroe (their best player) has been hampered by a knee injury and that has really hurt them on the interior. Drummond has picked up some of the slack but he isn’t the player Monroe is. Toronto also went through a recent slump. However, they are playing much better basketball as of late (won 4 of 6) and they are making a push to get the third seed in the East. Kyle Lowry is questionable tonight but with or without him, the Raptors will cover this spread. Derozan has played really well lately and he was lights out in the only game he played against the Pistons this year. He scored 25 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, had 4 assists and 2 steals. In fact, if you dig deeper into the season series (Tor leads 2-1), the key contributors for Detroit in all three games are either hurt or no longer with the team. For example: in the last game on January 25th, DJ Augustin scored 35 points and Monroe had 21. Lowry only accounted for 11 points and that is the game in which Derozan was lights out. In the game in which Detroit won on January 12th, it was Brandon Jennings with 34 points and Monroe with 22. Lowry only had 10 points. As you can see, the potential absence of Lowry isn’t a huge deal while the absence of guys like Monroe, Augustin and Jennings could certainly hurt Detroit. Take Toronto.
