The Marlins will counter with Henderson Alvarez, who has been terrible so far here in 2015, posting a 0-3 record with a 6.23 ERA. He will be making his second start since coming off the DL with a shoulder issue and if his first outing was any indication, maybe he’s not totally healed. Alvarez allowed 6 runs and 9 hits in just 5 1/3 innings to the Braves on Sunday in his return from the DL. The Orioles, despite their losing record have actually been pretty good in the spot they are in here tonight against the Marlins. They are 9-3 in their last 12 interleague games when listed at pick or favorite and are a perfect 4-0 when Jimenez starts a game against a team with a losing record.

The Marlins, on the other hand, haven’t really been good in any spot in the past three weeks and tonight should be no different. They are 1-12 in their last 13 games against teams with a losing record and they are 0-8 in their last 8 games at Marlins Park. Throw in the fact that the Marlins are a putrid 7-24 in their last 31 games when facing a pitcher with a WHIP lower than 1.15 and we’ll take the Orioles at the pick em’ price to get the win and send Miami to their eighth straight loss, bringing us a winner in our Interleague Game of the Month!!

Leake has been great on the road this season going 2-1 with a 1.74 ERA over 4 starts and in his last two road starts he hasn’t allowed a run over 16 innings pitched while surrendering just 8 hits winning both contests. Leake will need his offense to score some runs and improve upon their hitting with runners in scoring position, as they are 10-73 (.137) over their last 11 contests in those situations going 3-8 over that span. Luckily for Cincinnati Joey Votto (8 HR, 18 RBI’s last 17 meetings), Marlon Byrd (15-35, 12 RBI’s last 9 contests), Zack Cozart (hitting .405 over 11 matchups), and Brandon Phillips (.350 lifetime) have all had success against Cleveland in their careers. Just like the Indians as a team have struggled at home losing 6 of 18 so far at Progressive Field so has scheduled starter Carlos Carrasco. Carrasco is 1-2 with a 7.11 ERA in 3 starts allowing 10 earned runs in 12.2 innings pitched. He has lost back to back starts and he has surrendered 7 runs over 10 innings in two starts against the Reds. Cleveland is just 3-12 in their last 15 games following a win and they are 0-11 in Carrasco’s last 11 starts during game 1 of a series while the Reds are 4-1 in Leake’s last 5 road starts versus a team with a losing record. I think Cincinnati gets a lead early, something they haven’t had in their last 5 games, and Leake takes it from there to pick up the W.
