Under the new Denver offensive coordinator (Gary Kubiak), Peyton Manning is under center a lot MORE. That’s something that is not a great idea, given his recent reduced mobility. His fastball has lost its zip. He has had ALL off-season to get healthy again. And the fact that the Broncos HAVE NOT SCORED A TOUCHDOWN in ANY of the 20 offensive drives that Manning has led since the start of the 2015 pre-season speaks volumes! He was sacked three times in the first half of Sunday’s games against the Ravens. He has not been sacked that many times in a full game in TWO seasons. And on Thursday, he takes on a Kansas City defense that has not allowed a 300-yard passing game to a quarterback in more than two seasons. Last season’s two games versus the Chiefs had OU lines of 50.5 and 49. This Thursday’s line is a full TD LOWER at 42 points. This has been a ruthless OU line regression by the oddsmakers. And it’s entirely justified.

Week Two of the NFL is known as the week of overreaction and we are seeing it right out of the gates this week. Denver defeated Baltimore in Week One 19-13 but for some reason, the public is very sour with the Broncos and namely Peyton Manning. In all fairness, he did not look very good as he was just 24-40 for 175 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. It is safe to say he is not happy about it and we can expect a bounceback effort here. Kansas City jumped out to a big lead over Houston and was able to hold on for the seven point road win. The Chiefs were outgained by the Texans however and while it can be argued the differential was caused by garbage time yardage, it isn't like college football where starters are subbed out so there is no excuse thus garbage time is more pronounced in the college game than in the pro game. And dealing with the public perception, because of the lackluster Broncos win and the dominating performance from Kansas City against the Texans, the line has moved from Even from when it opened prior to Sunday's games to -3 and that is the ultimate overreaction. Denver has never lost to Kansas City since Manning came on board as it is a perfect 6-0 and it has amazingly won 12 straight road divisional games going back to the days of Tim Tebow. Thus, coming in as the underdog is a huge advantage.

Overreacting to the first couple weeks of the season is a common mistake for bettors and of course being the contrarian type, we love the fact that the lines have to be adjusted because of it. Louisville is off to a 0-2 start including a home loss last week to Houston as a 13.5-point favorite. The Cardinals lost their opener in Auburn by seven points which looked good at the time but based on the Tigers near loss against FCS Jacksonville St., we aren't sure what to believe. Still, Louisville is better than its 0-2 record and we will see a focused bunch that knows a 0-3 start could spell disaster for the rest of the season. Clemson is coming off a couple blowout wins over some mediocre opposition and now comes its first real test. Going back to last season, the Tigers have won five straight games by double-digits but none of those have been true road games and this is not an ideal spot as the Tigers went 0-3 ATS last season as road chalk. The offensive line has just one starter back from last season while only three starters are back on a defense that led the nation last season in total defense. Additionally, we play against road favorites of 3.5 to 10 points in the first month of the season, after closing out last season strong with three or more straight wins. This situation is 48-15 ATS (76.2 percent) since 1992.

To say that Denver has been a thorn in Kansas City's side would be an understatement. The Broncos have posted a solid 18-8 SU and 15-10-1 ATS record in the previous 26 meetings with the Chiefs including 6-0 SU and 4-2 ATS in the last six. With a defense that gave Baltimore all kinds of fits last Sunday, the Orange Crush will be worth a look here too especially as an underdog.

Surprisingly, Kansas City has experienced a little bit of trouble at Arrowhead Stadium lately. In their last 64 games at home the Chiefs are just 25-39 SU and 26-38 ATS including a jaw-dropping 13-36 SU and 14-34 ATS if Kaycee is priced between -6.5 and +9. Home favorite roles haven't been kind to the Chiefs either. In fact, in their own backyard priced as chalk of -6.5 or less, Kansas City owns an ugly 3-16 ATS mark including a nasty 1-9 SU and ATS in their last 10 in this spot lined up against an AFC West opponent.


In last week's 19-13 home win over the Ravens, the Broncos low-octane offense chewed up just 219 total yards and scored no offensive touchdowns. Orange Crush Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning didn't like having to answer all the questions from the critics this week about the O's problems. I am playing on LOUISVILLE (vs. Clemson) as my 9* Thursday Night ESPN Main Event play.

This could be Louisville's biggest game of the season in terms of fanfare and I think we'll see a huge home advantage for the Cards, which makes me really love the fact they are getting the points here.

Last year Louisville gave Clemson fits in a tough 23-17 Tigers victory in Death Valley in which the Cardinals covered the spread by 2.5 points. Louisville knocked Clemson's current starting QB Deshaun Watson out of the game in that contest and Watson went just 2 for 6 with minus-five yards and he ran for just 10 yards in a game that may leave him with some bad thoughts coming into this one.

I feel that Louisville is being underestimated after a tough loss to Houston last week where they looked pretty dreadful. I really feel the Cards got caught looking ahead to playing the ACC preseason favorites this week and fell flat as a result. I expect to see a much different team

Louisville has the added benefit of playing Clemson without one of its star receivers, Mike Williams, who suffered a fractured neck last week. The Tigers are also without four of their top defenders whom the Cards faced last season after they moved on to the NFL.

I feel Louisville will be able to score some points against Clemson on home turf this year and I feel oddsmakers are being too generous to the Cardinals.

This is a tough, tough spot for the Denver Broncos. After playing in an extremely difficult football game versus Baltimore on Sunday they have to take a quick trip to play another physical football team in Kansas City. The Broncos defense looked fantastic on Sunday, but that was a game that takes some time to bounce back from. Kansas City meanwhile looked good in beating Houston in a game that they had the football for 60 percent of the time. Denver's offense just looked off, and it won't have enough time to right the ship before tonight. Arrowhead is one of the most difficult places to play in football and an aging quarterback on a short week is not the best situation for the Broncos. Denver has had success versus Kansas City with Peyton Manning at the helm, but this isn't the same Broncos team. The Broncos winning streak in this stadium comes to an end tonight. This crowd will be electric for their Chiefs. The public will want to take Denver here as they still have Manning and they are an underdog, but this line is wrong. The Chiefs should be a six-seven ponit favorite. Don't be fooled by the underdog Broncos...The right team is favored in this game as the Chiefs win 24-17.
