New coach Dan Quinn has improved the Falcons. But they still a£re more finesse than brawn, vulnerable mentally and physically to the Texans. Houston is a power team. No team runs the ball more than the Texans.

I like Houston's edges in the trenches. The Falcons don't have a dominant blocker who can handle J.J. Watt. The Texans can control the line of scrimmage against the Falcons' defensive line, too.

The Texans are expecting to get back from injury this week star running back Arian Foster and left tackle Duane Brown, their best offensive lineman. Ryan Mallet is getting better as he settles into a starting role. This will be his third start in a row. Alfred Blue had a breakout performance this past Sunday and would be capable if Foster still isn't ready to play.

The Texans rank in the top 12 in yardage both offensively and defensively. The Falcons, on the other hand, rank in the bottom six in yards given up.

Atlanta could be 0-3 in which case this line would be much different.

The Falcons trailed in the fourth quarter during all three of their games. They took advantage of a sleepwalking, out of sync Eagles team at home opening week, beat a bad Giants team in Week 2 and this past Sunday were able to overcome a big early deficit to defeat Dallas, which was minus Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and several key defensive players.

The Falcons are ripe for a loss. The Texans are a bad matchup for them.

San Francisco has looked terrible in back-to-back road games, but I am a big believer that there is not much carryover from week to week in the NFL and every week is completely different. Green Bay is not the same team on the road as they are when playing at Lambeau Field, and sooner or later their injuries will catch up with them. QB Rodgers will still have his moments in this game, but I just do not see it being a rout as Green Bay struggled to put away the Bears in Week 1. Green Bay will head west on a short week, and this is a team they have not had any success against losing to San Francisco four straight times. San Francisco is 3-0 ATS in the last six years when they have been a home underdog. QB Colin Kaepernick has been awful of late, but Green Bay is a team he has had great success against, and I expect him to be able to move the football with his arm or his legs. Green Bay still does not have a good defense, and if the 49ers can hang onto the football I see this game going down to the wire. Green Bay has not won in San Francisco (Santa Clara) since 2006, and while that streak may end on Sunday, it will only come by a couple of points.

I’m taking the points with the Houston Texans on Sunday. We played the Falcons in week one and cashed when they held on against the Eagles. I like the hiring of Dan Quinn. But I’m not sold on the Falcons just yet, especially as a favorite of this many points after playing as an underdog in their first three games. ATL held on by the skin of their teeth against the Eagles. They escaped in week two, thanks to idiotic mistakes made by the NY Giants. And last weekend, the Falcons had the luxury of playing a Dallas Cowboys’ team with Brandon Weeden at QB. So yes, give them credit for their 3-0 start, but let’s keep it in perspective…it’s a precarious 3-0. Julio Jones is expected to play, but he isn’t 100%, suffering from a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, the Falcons defense is still in the bottom-third in total yards allowed per game and in yards allowed passing per contest. The Texans aren’t elite in their offensive numbers, but they’re solid, ranked in the upper half in the league in both running the football and the passing game. And while we aren’t counting on it, RB Arian Foster may get a shot this week, listed as questionable at the time of this post. Again, this is a play whether Foster plays or not. We should note the Texans are also in the top half in the league in yards passing allowed. Atlanta enters on a 1-14 ATS slide at home following three straight covers and I’ll go against them again. A winner of nine straight starts and the leagues highest scoring team, Palmer has thrown for 803 yards with nine TDs with just two interceptions in route to a 3-0 start for the second straight season. But that type of scoring rarely continues. The real question is ''who have they done this against''? The answer is the Saints, Bears and 49ers. Not your top of the line powerhouses. St Louis can match them pass for pass. Their defense may be somewhat better. The played well vs the Seahawks and Steelers. Getting RB Todd Gurley in the backfield can only help Nick Foles. The Panthers also lost defensive end Charles Johnson to a hamstring injury. Lovie Smith still believes Winston is coming along well after he finished 17 of 36 for 261 yards, one touchdown and one interception in last week''s 19-9 loss at Houston. Now Winston is focused on helping the Bucs end a 10-game home losing streak. Pinnacle--San Francisco (NFC Game of the Month) I have nothing to add about what a great team the Green Bay Packers are. Aaron Rodgers is the best in the NFL. They may have hit a certain playing level and peaked somewhat against Seattle and after 3 quarters of last weeks game with Kansas City. How long can a team keep greatness alive? It''s hard to imagine that the Packers playing on a short week and traveling across country will show much in terms of 100%. The Packers play San Francisco with hopes of overcoming possibly their most nagging opponent over the past three seasons. Rodgers lost another starting receiver when Davante Adams left with a recurrent ankle injury last week. Lacy and Starks are not their normal selves. Randall Cobb is awesome but some injuries and relaxing in this game could be what the 49er backers need. For San Fran, Kaepernick is 3-0 with six TDs, two interceptions and a 101.3 rating as a starter during the four-game winning streak against the Packers. They are also 1-0 at home having defeated the Vikings in week one. The prize for the 49ers is plenty. A 2-2 record with a victory over a hot Green Bay team will come with plenty of hope for their immediate future. A 1-3 start has you starring at the Golden Gate Bridge.
