Don't buy in to a lot of the trends that you will see for this game. Many of the Suns victories/covers over the Pacers as of late are due to impressive guard play, and a lack of Paul George. George missed both games versus Phoenix last season, and over the past few years the Suns backcourt has featured the likes of Goran Dragic (gone), Isaiah Thomas (gone), and Eric Bledsoe (hurt). This Suns team is a shell of what they have been in the past, while the Pacers are an impressive home team. This line is high for a reason. I would not be surprised at all to see Indiana win this game by 20+ points. The Pacers can clamp down defensively, and when the crowd gets involved their offense can roll over a team. The Pacers have the length and athleticism to cause mismatches at both ends of the floor and they will look to do so tonight, especially by pushing the tempo to create easy baskets and run the Suns out of the gym. Don't worry about laying a big number, it won't come in to play.

Neither the Blues nor the Devils have been playing great as of late. New Jersey is 5-4-0-1 in their last ten games and St. Louis is 4-3-2-1 over theirs. The Devils continue struggling on the offensive end of the ice and are now averaging only 2.2 goals per game which is one of the worst in the NHL. But the Devils rank 4th in the league in goals against where they are only giving up 2.3 per game. St. Louis on the other hand has been giving up almost 3 goals per game over their last 8 and lost some key players in the Anaheim game the other night. The Blues have gone into 4 straight OT/SO games and think this is going to wear on them tonight. I will take Defense over the offense tonight. Look for the Devils to upset the Blue tonight in St. Louis.

These two teams have already faced each other twice back in December with each club taking a win. Nashville won the last battle 5-1 on the 10th and Chicago won 4-1 two days before on the 8th. I understand that the Blackhawks are 7-0 in their last 7 games and also realize that they are 18-6 at home on the season but Nashville is an area that they don't want to be right now and feel as though they are desperate for some wins. Chicago lost three times at home in the month of December and think they are going to have a letdown game tonight. Look for the upset in Chicago tonight.

Tampa Bay will try to win in Colorado for the first time since March 1st, 2004. The Lightning are 2-8-2 with two ties all-time in Denver. The Lightning haven't scored more than 3 goals in any of their last six games but are only 5-5 in their last 10 games. Colorado is averaging 4 goals per game in their last four games while playing some really good teams over the stretch. The Av's have beaten LA, St. Louis and Nashville, their only loss came from the Blackhawks at Chicago. Look for the Av's to win at home tonight.

Carolina still remains one of the more undervalued teams in the NHL. The Hurricanes are ranked very high in the advanced stats at 4th overall in Corsi For %. The lone exception to that during that time was when Carolina allowed a late goal with just 21 seconds left to lose by a 2-0 score to a Florida team who was in the early stages of their 12 game winning streak at the time. This is a solid team at a nice price here at home.

San Antonio is one of the best teams in the NBA, but they come into this game off a blowout win in Brooklyn last night. The Spurs beat the Nets 106-79 on Monday night in a game they virtually led from start to finish. San Antonio shot a terrific 53.7% (44-82) from the field while eleven players scored at least 2 points in the game. Despite the 27-point margin of victory, San Antonio had three starters play 24 minutes or more. Head coach Gregg Popovich is known for resting his key players on the second night of back-to-back sets, so it wouldn’t be a shocker to see some guys sit this game out. This is also just the second time all season in which the Spurs are playing a back-to-back road set; their last came way back in early November in games #3 and #4 when they beat the Knicks in a 94-84 lethargically played game.

Detroit comes into this game with two full days of rest, so they are the fresher team. The Pistons are also in excellent current form as they’ve won three consecutive games, and four of their last five games overall. Detroit has played terrific basketball at home where they are 13-5 SU this season while averaging 104.9 points per game on 44.4% shooting from the field and 35.9% shooting from three-point land. Detroit’s defense has been outstanding over their last five games; the Pistons held their opponents to just 91.2 points per game on 42.6% shooting from the field and 32.6% shooting from three-point land. We expect a close game throughout, so we’ll take Detroit plus the points on Tuesday night.

Kansas is having a fantastic season as they come into tonight’s game at West Virginia ranked #1 in the country with a 14-1 SU record. The Jayhawks have been terrific on both ends of the court, but tonight’s game against the Mountaineers is simply a terrible situational spot and a bad matchup for Kansas. In their last three meetings against West Virginia, the Jayhawks are just 1-2 SU (0-3 ATS) with their lone win coming in overtime on their strong home court; they trailed by 14 points at the half in that game. Kansas will be playing their second consecutive road game, and it comes on the heels of their 109-106 triple overtime home win over Oklahoma last week. Kansas will also face 40 minutes of pressure from the Mountaineers who employ a relentless full-court press; the Jayhawks have yet to face a similar team this season. West Virginia is #1 in the country in turnover percentage meaning they force their opponents into a lot of mistakes. They also have the #2 three-point defense in the country; they hold their opponents to just 26.3% shooting from three-point land at home.

West Virginia is also having a terrific season as they come into this game with a 14-1 SU record. The Mountaineers are a perfect 7-0 SU at home where they own an incredible +36.7 point differential on the season. West Virginia’s defense has been tremendous at home as they are holding opponents to just 56.9 points per game on 40.1% shooting from the field. The Mountaineers’ offense has been phenomenal at home where they are averaging 93.6 points per game on 49% shooting from the field. West Virginia is also tremendous on the glass as they rank #1 in offensive rebounding percentage which allows them to get a lot of second-chance points. West Virginia matches-up extremely well with Kansas, so we’ll back the Mountaineers in this game on Tuesday night.

They did see the return of Joakim Noah who had missed the previous 9 games. As expected, he was a little rusty but should better off tonight. With 12 of their next 15 games on the road the Bulls need a feel-good win here and I think they get it against a team they've owned.

1-star (746) KANSAS STATE -3.5 over Texas Tech. 8:00pm ET. Kansas State has won 10 of the last 11 meetings but comes into this contest on a 3-game losing streak (covered in all 3 games). They are 9-2 ATS this year and are 7-1 at home and have games against Top 25 Baylor and Iowa State on deck so they desperately need a win here. On the other side, Texas Tech actually looked like they had a solid cover for us on Saturday Night as they were tied with the No. 1 Jayhawks in the middle of the second half. However, they gave up the final 4 points in the closing 20 seconds to lose by 10 (were getting 7.5) and now after an emotionally charged home game are on the road just a couple of nights later. Two similarly talented teams and we think the home court is the deciding factor.
