Today we are going to look at another team that played a game vs a team that hasn’t yet. George Washington advanced yesterday but they didn’t cover as they were the team that hadn’t played yet facing a St Louis team that did play the night before. Today George Washington has that luxury and they are facing a St Joe’s team that struggled down the stretch going 2-3 SU and just 1-4 ATS. George Washington plays with revenge for an 18 point loss on their home floor earlier this year. It must be noted that when they played that game George Washington was coming off a huge upset at VCU as a 9 point underdog. I believe George Washington might of still been celebrating that win and wasn’t mentally prepared to play. St Joe’s 1-4 ATS slide has been a result of shoddy defensive play as they have allowed teams to shoot over 50% against them in 3 of the last 5 games. In the game against St Bonaventure the Bonnies shot 63%. I’m riding the momentum of George Washington’s win yesterday as my numbers have George Washington winning by 3-5 points.

Cincy should be in the tournament, and deep down inside the players know that. I do feel that UCONN should be in as well, but they are more of a bubble team than the Bearcats. The Huskies need this game bad and they will step up to the challenge. Cincy is just 1-5 ATS in their last six neutral site games while UCONN is an impressive 41-20-1 ATS in their last 62 neutral site games. That stat alone proves that UCONN has been in this situation more often and that they know how to get the job done when necessary. The Huskies have the ability to score the ball from numerous positions and this scoring depth will prove beneficial tonight. UCONN has four guys that average nearly 12 points or more. The Huskies are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 meetings with Cincy.

3-Unit Play. Take #522 Indiana (-7.5) over Michigan (Noon, Friday, March 11)

2-Unit Play. Take 'Over' 145.5 Michigan vs. Indiana (Noon, Friday, March 11)

Indiana can flat out score the basketball and Michigan will struggle to stop them. The Wolverines however can absolutely score high 60s-low 70s in this game. The Hoosiers should have no problem getting to the 80s. I see this having a 82-72 type feel to it. Michigan did not look good versus Northwestern yesterday. Now they face a rested Indiana squad that is doing everything they can to earn a top 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, or even possibly a 1-seed. They know that big wins in the Big10 tournament can go a long way as the seeding committee looks at how a team does as they finish out a season. Michigan is just 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 games versus the Hoosiers and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a S.U. victory. Lay the points on the better team in this early matchup.

2-Unit Play. Take #554 Old Dominion (-3.5) over Western Kentucky (4 p.m., Friday, March 11)

I like ODU in this spot. They are playing great basketball and the catch WKU coming off a huge win over UAB. The Hilltoppers will let down a bit here as their offensive surge will hit a snag. ODU is a great defensive ball club and WKU will have to completely change their game plan in this game. Western Kentucky has been scoring at will lately, but won't find it easy tonight. Look for ODU to set the pace and win/cover this game late, 60-52.

What a great PAC-12 battle tonight at MGM and I'm sure everybody is excited to watch Arizona versus Oregon but not me. This game has my full attention and late in this game I see Utah pulling away and winning this game to advance to Saturday's Championship game. California leads the all-time series 13-12, but the Utah Utes have won 4 out of their last 5 meetings and I see this trend cashing tonight.

7 Unit Play. Take #584 Fresno St -3 over Colorado St (11:30p.m., Friday March 11 CBSC)
If it's not broke don't fix it and tonight we are going back to the well with the Fresno St Bulldogs. Last night we had Fresno over a tired UNLV squad and late in the second half the Bulldogs took over the game an easily won 95-82. Earlier this month these two teams met in Fresno and the Bulldogs won 87-73 and if the Bulldogs start off hot like they did in that game I see another double-digit Fresno winner. Colorado St pulled off the upset last night against Boise winning 88-81 and the Rams come into this game winning 3-straight. But, the Bulldogs are red hot right now (winning 7-straight and 10 out 12 conference games) and I see the offense of Fresno being too much for the Rams late tonight. The favorite in this series is 6-0 ATS and the Bulldogs are a perfect 5-0 ATS against a team with a winning SU record.

3-Unit Play. #523. Take Under 139 Illinois vs. Purdue (Friday @ 2:30pm est)
Our first selection is that we roll with the Under here in what should be a closer game than most realize as Illinois is making a spirited effort in the Big10 Tournament. If they are able to win they will start to raise some eyebrows and it's not that this team is horrendous as this is the same team that has now won 7 Big 10 Games to their credit and just beat Iowa by 2 points. Heck, they even beat Purdue by 14 points the last time they faced each other and though Purdue has revenge we feel that both teams will step up here on the defensive end. Illinois is known for their defense as that is their calling card and they just held Minnesota to 52 points and Iowa to 66 points. We like Purdue to play strong defensviely with revenge and Illinois to keep playing well holding on to the slim hope of continuing to make it in this tournament for an at-large-bid.

3-Unit Play. #534. Take Virginia Commonwealth -12 over Massachusetts (Friday @ 6:30pm est)
VCU has a lot of revenge over UMass and they will not be overlooking them here. Note, that VCU lost to this team by 6 points earlier this year on the road in what was a complete shocker as this is a top 25 team coached by Will Wade losing to a team outside the top 170. With this team coming off af loss to Dayton by 1 point and looking to bounce-back very quickly, and against a team who they are seeking revenge against as well. VCU is a squad that that is top 15 on the defensive end and when they come off a loss, they do very well, such as beating St. Louis by more than 30 points after the Massachusetts loss earlier this season or beating George Washington by 4 after the George Mason loss. We roll with VCU here with revenge and the bounce-back.

3-Unit Play. #562. Take North Carolina -7 over Notre Dame (Friday @ 7pm est)
We nearly made this a 4-unti selection as we nearly made VCU a 4-unit selection but we wanted to lay off another double-digit favorite step-out as well so we just made it a regular selection. Heck, even the Illinois Under we could have made it a step-out but we are ok with this as we go with a 5-pack and look to go for a winning day and the possibility if it all comes together for a big day. But, UNC is a decent public fade here, they have revenge from losing to Notre Dame earlier this year and Notre Dame likely is in for a let down after a big win against Duke in overtime. This team just routed Pitt by 17 points, has revenge, good public fade and is the 3rd ranking power ranking team in the nation and they get to face these guys again. We like UNC here as they likely win by double-digits.

3-Unit Play. #571. Take Under 147 Oklahoma vs. West Virginia (Friday @ 9:30pm est)
We roll with the Under here as the last time these two teams faced each other, West Virginia continued to get routed by Oklahoma and after losing to this team twice, we like WVU to get some revenge here on the defensive side of the ball. Huggins is one of the best defensive minds in all of college basketball and after going 0-2 against this team, look for this game to have a very slow pace and to have a half-court offensive paced as it drags and frustrates the high octane offense of Oklahoma. Regardless of who covers, we like this game into the high 130's today.

The Hawks have been in a freefall at the moment losing two straight games to close out the regular season but I expect them to rebound on Friday. Neither team is a lock for the NCAA Tournament and thus the Hawks just cannot go through the motions. St. Joes is not a good match-up for George Washington evident by the fact they beat them by 18 points in the district (GW's home floor). The Colonials struggled to put away a bad Billikens yesterday and the rested Hawks are ready to attack and jump on them early in this game. George Washington is 0-6 ATS (1 push) in their last 7 games played on Friday. St Joes is 19-7 ATS (1 push) in their last 27 games played on Friday. St Josephs is much more physical and that will pay dividends in this game.

4 Unit Play. #554 Take Old Dominion -3.5 over Western Kentucky (4 pm CBSSN) The bubble is going to burst on the Hilltoppers today. WKU has been playing over their head of late including a surprising win against UAB yesterday in Birmingham. Having to play a top team for a second straight day will doom them in. The Monarchs have won six straight games all by six points. Old Dominion beat WKU in both meetings this season and expect them to complete the trifecta on Saturday. ODU has covered the spread in five of their last six games.

4 Unit Play. #571 Take Oklahoma (pk) over West Virginia (9:30 pm ESPN 2) The Sooners are soft and West Virginia is very physical yet this is a match-up that greatly favors the Sooners. Oklahoma won both meetings this year with West Virginia including a 14-point win in Morgantown during the last match-up. Pressing teams struggle against Oklahoma because they can shoot the ball in transition and handle the rock well. Buddy Hield should be able to light it up yet again and Oklahoma needs to make a statement after a very disappointing regular season. They will and we will collect in the process as well.

5 Unit Play. #584 Take Fresno State -3 over Colorado State (11:30 pm CBSSN) The Bulldogs have a real chance to win this conference tournament and the bracket has really opened up for them. They face a similar team in Colorado State than what they faced last night. Actually the Rams play less defense than do the Rebels and that only bodes well for the Bulldogs. The Rams were just 8-10 in a bad MWC this season and this will be their third game in three days. Fresno State won the only meeting by 14 points. Last night we hit with the Toronto Raptors and tonight we are going against the public and we will continue to cash NBA tickets. Yes, I know all trends point to the UNDER in this game but I see a high pace game and I see the Knicks being able to score on the Clippers defense. Last night the total opened at 204 and I thought their was value and early this morning when the number dropped I knew I was going to play this game OVER. The Clippers are coming off a horrible loss to OKC on the road and the Clippers defense gave up 120 and the Clippers last 3 games 2 of those games cashed the OVER. The Knicks are coming off a road win against Phoenix and I know the Suns are not the Clippers but the Knicks did throw up 128 points and tonight I see both teams hitting the century mark

Pittsburgh has been up and down over their last ten games where the team holds a 5-5 record over the stretch. Their losses come from some of the stronger teams in the league though. They include, Tampa Bay, Boston, Washington, Calgary and the NY Islanders. But with that being said, the Penguins are still playing at a high level, especially to teams with a losing record where they are 9-1 in their last ten games in this scenario. The Penguins have a much better team than the Blue Jackets and are stronger on both ends of the ice. They are more disciplined, better on the penalty kill and have a much deeper bench. I don't think Columbus can continue winning (only at home) especially against these better teams. Take Pittsburgh tonight on the road.

The Blues stole a win the other night against Chicago in a shootout and typically after a win or loss against the Blackhawks most teams struggle the next game. This Ducks team is going to come to play tonight and be hungry for a win.

Analysis: He who hesitates and/or overthinks is lost - I expected to lay -2 or so. Semi shocked at -1 and cannot see why - Not enamored with too many (any at this point) day games yet - but I will at the very least give you an opinion. In this game we've got St. Bonaventure as a "last team in" at the moment, according to at least the ESPN bracket. Clearly THEY are aware of that - and that would translate to "on the bubble" and they need this one. Whether they need it or not, they are simply the better team and obviously rested. Davidson beat LaSalle handily yesterday but they still play pretty quick (expends energy) and LaSalle put them on the FT line a TON - a mistake the Bonnies will not make. St. Bonaventure plays nearly the same pace, so no issue there at all. They've lost once since January 24th when VCU beat them, whereas Davidson has a decent win at home against St. Joe's - but that's it. Let's not forget that Steph Curry doesn't play there any longer, but Davidson is still a three-point shooting team. Here's the rub for me - the Bonnies had the 38th best three point defense % in the nation, and #2 in the Conference. Davidson had the 13th ranked defense is the conference, not backable (yes, I know that is not a word) under any circumstances, and actually the Bonnies shoot for a better % (40%) from deep, or better than Davidson. St. Bonaventure gets to the line more than anyone in the Conference, and shoots 78% from it - those are almost enough stats to take them, let alone the situation - and the geography. St. Bonaventure is in NY (game's in Brooklyn) about five hours away - Davidson is over nine hours. It's a matchup issue - the Bonnies beat them this season, and beat them AT Davidson last season when in fact Davidson was the far be Útter team. Davidson will make a nice NIT team. Even in what looked like a rout, Davidson had three starters play 34+ minutes last night, and they had a 21 point lead shortly into the 2H and STILL had to play most of the game. Bonnies are more rested - need it more (although not desperation), matchup better - have more ways to win than just shooting from behind the arc - and will win the game. Out - for now.

New York comes into tonight’s game in Los Angeles off a 128-97 blowout win in Phoenix on Wednesday night. The 128 points scored by the Knicks was one of their best offensive performances of the season. New York had seven players score in double digits while shooting 56.1% (46-82) from the field and an incredible 66.7% (16-24) from three-point land. The Knicks also hit 83.3% (20-24) from the free throw line. New York’s offense played a perfect game, but we expect major regression tonight. Prior to that offensive outburst, the Knicks did not eclipse more than 105 points in 14 of their previous 16 games. New York’s offensive performance against the Suns was an anomaly, and there’s a high probability that the Knicks will not come close to matching that efficient production.


Los Angeles returns home off a 120-108 blowout loss at Oklahoma City on Wednesday night. The Clippers were in a terrible spot for that game, so we can dismiss the results. Los Angeles played one of their worst defensive games of the season as they allowed the Thunder to shoot 52.7% (48-91) from the field in that game. Off that loss, and with a return home, we expect a much better defensive performance by the Clippers tonight. Los Angeles also lost their previous home game because of poor defense; they allowed 107 points to the Hawks. Prior to their awful defensive effort against the Thunder, Los Angeles had held six of their previous nine opponents to 98 points or less. In an earlier season meeting, the Clippers held the Knicks to just 88 points on 38.8% (33-85) shooting from the field and 22.2% (4-18) shooting from three-point land. Look for a low-scoring game between the Knicks and Clippers on Friday night.

Notre Dame comes into tonight’s game against North Carolina on a back-to-back set after beating Duke in overtime yesterday afternoon. The Irish won that game 84-79 after coming back from a 16-point second half deficit. Notre Dame plays an extremely short rotation, and they had three of their starters play 41 minutes or more while all five starters played 35 minutes or more. The Irish only play a 6-man rotation, and the extended minutes last night will have a major impact on tonight’s game, especially since Notre Dame will be forced into a fast-paced game by North Carolina. The Irish also shot 50% (30-60) from the field last night, so a repeat performance is highly unlikely simply because of the terrible situational and scheduling Notre Dame now faces tonight. Notre Dame’s defense has allowed 75 points or more in three of their last four games, and tonight they will be playing on tired legs.


North Carolina cruised to an 88-71 win over Pittsburgh yesterday. The Tar Heels had eight guys play 14 minutes or more, so they are a much deeper team than Notre Dame, and they will also be much fresher for tonight’s game. North Carolina is also taking this game seriously after losing to the Irish earlier this season. The Tar Heels blew a 15-point lead on Notre Dame’s home court in that game. North Carolina also lost to Notre Dame in last year’s ACC tournament; the Tar Heels blew an 8-point lead with less than ten minutes to play in that game. Those blown losses will have North Carolina primed for a peak performance tonight. Overall, the Tar Heels’ offense is averaging 83.1 points per game on 47.9% shooting from the field this season. North Carolina is catching Notre Dame at the perfect time, so we’ll lay the points with the Tar Heels in this game on Friday night.
