I'm playing on CLEVELAND. I won with Atlanta yesterday, a team which had narrowly "escaped" with a win on its home floor in Game 1. Having survived that "close call," the Hawks were all business and won Game 2 with relative ease. I see this one setting up much the same way. The Pistons had their chance in Game 1 but squandered it. I expect that result to serve as a "wake up call" for the Cavs. As the Hawks did yesterday, I look for the Cavs to take care of business in Game 2. The Pistons are new to this, as the team hasn't been to the playoffs in some time. They easily could be caught thinking about "what could have been." The Cavs, on the other hand, are playoff veterans and know there's no time for any "reflecting." They're 5-3 ATS (7-1 SU) their last eight, when leading in a playoff series and I look for them to improve on those stats in convincing fashion here. 10* Personal Favorite

I'm playing on Charlotte and Miami to finish UNDER the total. While Game 1 was high-scoring, I'm expecting the defense to take center stage in Game 2. Admittedly, the Hornets were horrible defensively in the opener. That's not them though and I concur with coach Steve Clifford when he says that he expects a much better defensive effort tonight. When asked about his defense, Clifford responded with the following: "We've got to try harder, for one. We have to have more readiness to play .... We were the ninth-best defensive team in the NBA (in the 2015-16 regular season) .... I think we'll bounce back well. We've been resilient all year. I think we have prideful guys. They want to play better and I think we will." Charlotte has seen the UNDER go 10-7 after allowing 105 or more points while Miami has seen the UNDER go 15-12 after scoring 105 or more. (While a combined 25-19 record may not sound like much, its still a respectable 57%.) Even with the Game 1 result, the Heat have still seen the UNDER go 24-18 here on the season and 26-16 when they've faced a team with a winning record. I expect those stats to improve tonight. 10*

I will go with the Rockies in this rubber match. This team has been playing very well out of the gate to start this season. They are 5-2 in their last seven games and are looking for their third straight series win. They were able to take two of three from the red hot Giants and Cubs. I think they can close out this series against the Reds. Chad Bettis has been great in his three starts this year. He has a 2.95 ERA despite having to pitch in Coors Field. He should be able to take care of the Reds today and this is a great underdog value.

I think that Baltimore will bounce back today. They were very excited for this series against last year’s A.L. East champs. The O’s lost Game 1 of this series but almost pulled off a big comeback last night. R.A. Dickey hasn’t found control of his knuckleball yet. He has a 6.75 ERA and a 1.91 WHIP and hasn’t been good at all. The Orioles have won 10 of 11 home games and I think that they will come out firing in this one.

I will take the Nationals in this underdog role. At 10-3 they are one of the hottest teams in baseball. The Marlins are just 4-8 overall. Washington has won five of seven in this series and the Marlins are just 1-5 in their last six games overall. Joe Ross has won five of six starts for the Nats and this young kid is coming along. Wei-Yin Chen is getting too much respect from the books. He has lost both of his starts for Miami and has a 5.56 ERA so far this season, compared to just 0.61 ERA for Ross. The wrong team is favored here.

I won my 6-Unit MLB Play yesterday with the Rangers. I am going right back to them today. The Rangers are following up yesterday’s win with ace Cole Hamels today. Doug Fister has a 7.59 ERA so far this season and he won’t be able to match Hamels. Go with the Rangers again.

Again, I am a huge fan of Miami. This team is ready to make a big playoff run. I just don’t see Charlotte having the necessary roster to knock off Miami on their home court. Now I do not see the Heat winning as easily as they did in Game 1, but they will win and cover again nonetheless. The Heat’s depth, athleticism, and playoff savvy will be too much for the Hornets to overcome yet again. Miami is 7-0 ATS in their last seven home games while the Hornets are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games versus teams with winning home records. Lay the points in this one.
