3-Unit Play. #332. Take Under 47.5 Connecticut vs. Cincinnati (Saturday @ 11:30am est)

Cincinnati is still very banged up on offense and that showed in their results of late. After all, we did take South Florida last week as our 7-Unit Play against them and it won with relative ease. Per this selection, this team is a heavy public favorite as they face Connecticut on the road. But, it is Connecticut who has a great shot at winning outright. This game will likely go in Connecticut's pace. Note, that Connecticut just comes off a loss to Houston where they gave up 42 points and had just given up 31 points to Syracuse prior to that. This is a team that has given up 73 points in their last 3 games after having given up just 59 points in their first two games. Look for Connecticut to finally bounce-back here at home with a solid defensive performance and look for Cincinnati to play much better on defense after giving up 45 points to South Florida.



3-Unit Play. #356. Take Under 51 Navy/Houston Under (Saturday @ 3pm est)

Houston has a fantastic offense and there is no doubting that. But, they run into a Navy team who understands they don't have the talent that Houston does, but they do have a system that take time off the clock. They will likely run the ball to no end here and keep the Houston offense off the field. Each first down this team gets will be a victory because it's less time the Houston offense is on the field and consequently their own defense can catch their breath. Navy comes off a loss to Air Force and will be focused for this game as they were likely looking ahead to it anyway which is why they lost by two touchdowns in their last game. Houston has given up just 33 points in their last 4 games and consequently we like a drag out contest here that goes under the posted total.



6-Unit Play. #378. Take Texas A&M -6.5 over Tennessee (Saturday @ 3:30pm est)

This is a game that Texas A&M could embarrass Tennessee. Sure, Tennessee comes off a hail may performance against Georgia and it was exciting and maybe there is an Angel that is watching over this team into destiny. Or, maybe Tennessee just got lucky and they are about to face a Texas A&M team that is playing with a chip on its shoulder given the transfers this off-season and are simply routing squads. This is the 7th ranked team in the country who played horribly at South Carolina and won in a non-convincing fashion after being favored by 17.5 points. This is a Tennessee team that has been up and down all year and they will have to be at the top of their game here away from home and if they had issues against a fickle Georgia team, they are going to have some serious issues here as they face Texas A&M who is solid on both sides of the ball. Remember, A&M beat Auburn on the road by a wider margin than Clemson did this year by 13 points, they beat Arkansas by 3 touchdowns at home and come off a poor performance against South Carolina. We like Texas A&M who was likely looking ahead to this game in their last game to really take it to Tennessee from start to finish and win by double-digits.



3-Unit Play. #401. Take Alabama -14 over Arkansas (Saturday @ 7pm est)

Though the public likes Arkansas here we like Alabama. Note the Crimson Tide did not play their best football against Kentucky and you can tell that in Nick Saban's press conference. He was not overly impressed with his team and he understands that this team needs to bring their best game into a top 20 Arkansas team that loves playing physical football. But, Alabama's offense is quite competent and if Arkansas had its issues with Texas A&M's offense, they will have their issues with an Alabama offense that has a bona fide starter and who enjoys spreading the ball out under Kiffin. You have to give Saban credit for willing to change his mantra and open up the offense to keep up with the times (something that Bear Bryant didn't even do until much later). We like Alabama as the decent public fade here.

The date is October 6th and Florida State has two losses. These are words that I wouldn't have believed before the season started. So what is Coach Fisher's game plan? Dalvin Cook is a rare talent who broke Miami’s backs the last two years. Once again, he will be highly motivated to play against his hometown team. He is likely the best player the Hurricanes will defend all season. Going one-on-one with Cook in the open field is one of the toughest physical tests in the game. The talented receiver averaged 12.2 yards per touch against UM in 2014, and 10.8 last year. Those are two of his top four performances in that stat category. The Hurricanes have played inferior teams, but they’ve beaten them soundly. FSU has played some quality opponents, but looked shaky. Florida State is angry. Jimbo Fisher is fielding questions about changing schemes and personnel, as fans call for the firing of his defensive coordinator. He’s saying the team isn’t divided, even after Cook commented last week that there’s only so much he can do.
In response, I would guess a proud senior like defensive end Demarcus Walker will have one of his best performances, especially since he’ll be going against a group of Miami offensive tackles which hasn’t been impressive so far. This game calls for desperate measures to be taken. It seems like just four weeks ago, many thought Florida St was the #2 team in the country. Today we see that team.

After getting an extra week to prepare for the North Carolina Tar Heels, Virginia Tech goes into Kenan Stadium and pulls off the upset. So much for that brand new top 25 entry. Even though they defeated Florida St last game, the Tar Heels have another important battle this week. This game is perhaps even more vital in their efforts to repeat as Coastal Division champs. Division foe Virginia Tech invades Chapel Hill and after fumbling away a game against Tennessee, the Hokies have blown out Boston College and East Carolina, leading to a No. 25 ranking. A key for Carolina is that RB Elijah Hood suffered an injury last week. The junior from Charlotte left the game against Florida State in the first half with an undisclosed injury. The Tar Heel offense has been carried by QB Mitch Trubisky and the receivers so far this season, as the unit has averaged only 136 yards per game on the ground. But against a team like Virginia Tech that has considerable defensive talent, North Carolina will need to achieve some offensive balance. Rushing against North Carolina is the Hokies game plan. North Carolina gave up more than 200 rushing yards last week and currently sit at No. 116 nationally in rush defense. In a nut shell, The Hokies have rushed for nearly 200 yards per game, so UNC will have to be wary of Virginia Tech running back Travon McMillian. Quarterback Jerod Evans, who’s gotten off to a great start throwing the football, is a major rushing threat as well. If Virginia Tech has success on the ground, its offense will be difficult to stop.

WOW! That describes the beating that Washington put on Stanford last week. They celebrated all week. But not so fast Huskies. Now you travel to a place where you've not only lost 12 straight games but the closes loss was by 17 points. And there's more Mr Washington. Oregon beat you on your turf last year 26-20. Look for more of the same. Now you get to travel to meet the Ducks laying a lot of points on the road. Quack-Quack they are laying in wait. The Ducks have scored at least 32 points in every game this season, so the offense should provide a challenge for the Husky defense. Running back Royce Freeman had 138 yards and three touchdowns against Washington State to pass Kenjon Barner and move into second place in school history with 3,664 rushing yards. Freeman has rushed for 307 yards in two previous meetings with Washington. Our scouting reports have reported that Justin Herbert will be the Quarterback starting against the Huskies. That should be advantageous to Oregon as Dakota Prukop has been ineffective thus season. Herbert is the future for Oregon and Washington's lack of game film on Herbert might give the Ducks an edge. Oregon's offensive shake-up could catch the Huskies off guard, much in the same way Arizona was able two weeks ago. The point spread should increase so it is best to bet this game as late as possible for added value. Oregon is struggling but it's nice to know that this game has righted the ship over and over.

Look, the 'under' has been the easy and obvious play so far in the postseason. Let's keep riding that trend. Washington isn't great against lefties. And both Rich Hill and Tanner Roark have had their moments of domination this season. Everyone knows playoff games are generally more low-scoring and we'll just play the obvious here, especially after yesterday's game in this series went 'over'. The 'under' is 14-6 when the Dodgers play after a win and 11-3 when the Nationals play after a loss. The 'under' is 12-3 in Roark's last 15 starts against a team with a winning record. The last four in this series have gone 'over' so I think we are due for one to go the other way.

I think that this will be a lower-scoring game today. These two teams went 'over' against the aces yesterday. I think that the lineups will have a letdown against two very different types of pitchers today. The Dodgers are going with Rich Hill, who has a 1.83 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP in his six starts for the Dodgers. He was excellent with the A's earlier this year as well and has had a very strong year. Tanner Roark had a breakout season. The young righty has just a 2.83 ERA on the season. The 'under' is 5-1 in Hill's starts and the 'under' is 6-1 in Roark's last seven starts. The 'under' is also 12-3 when Roark starts against a team that is above .500. I am playing this one 'under'.

The Washington Nationals will look to even their NL Divisional Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers at one when the two teams meet at Nationals Park in Washington, DC on Saturday afternoon. Tanner Roark (16-10, 2.83 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) will get the start for the Nationals and he will be opposed by Rich Hill (3-2, 1.89 ERA, 0.79 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Dodgers. Washington has posted a perfect 5-0 record in their last five games following a loss and they have gone an excellent 9-3 in Roark's last twelve starts. The Dodgers, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here today as they have gone just 2-5 in their last seven games overall and they have lost seven of their last nine playoff road games dating back to the 2014 season. Throw in the fact that the Nats have had some success against teams from the NL West with Roark on the hill, going 8-3 in their last eleven and we'll take them at the small underdog price to get the home win in a game that is really a must win for them on Saturday afternoon in DC.

4 Unit Play. Take #961/962 San Francisco Giants vs. Chicago Cubs Over 7 -120 (8:05 PM, Saturday, October 8, FS1)

Two teams that have been trending to the over will meet when the San Francisco Giants take on the Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL in Game 2 of their NL Divisional Series. Jeff Samardzija (12-11, 3.81 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) will get the start for the Giants and he will be opposed by Kyle Hendricks (16-8, 2.13 ERA, 0.98 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the start for the Cubs. San Francisco has posted a 5-2 record to the over in their last seven road playoff games where they faced a right handed starter and they have gone 3-1-1 to the over in Samardzija's last five starts where he faced a team from the NL Central. The Cubs have been an over team as well in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone 6-2 to the over in their last eight games overall and they have gone up and over the total in ten of their last thirteen playoff home games. Throw it the fact that the Cubs are also 4-1 to the over in their last five games where Hendricks faces a team from the NL West and that's where we'll have our play as our numbers have both teams putting runs on the board tonight on Chicago's North Side.
