I suppose we could be tempting fate here, and many won't agree. First off, when we bet we'd always like to be on teams that aren't going to beat themselves, especially in the NFL, and the Chiefs are certainly one of those teams. Since they lost to the Vikings last October (2015) Kansas City has won something like 18 of 21 games. Yes, the Raiders have some revenge in mind for one of their only two losses this season, but Arrowhead is one of the toughest stadiums to play in, and Kansas City clearly knows the importance of this game if they want to win the AFC West. So there's that. The Chiefs held the Raiders to ten points in Oakland, as Smith was Smith, completing 19 of 22 passes.They held Carr to 225 yards passing, and Spencer Ware had 131 yards on the ground. If he gets even NEAR 100 yards here this won't be close. As is the case with many of my bets, if the defense isn't up to par then I can't take a team on the road, and Oakland's defense is just not up to par. The Raiders are allowing almost 25 points a game, not something indicative of a 9-2 team by any means. Kansas City, is allowing less than 17 points per game at home. The Chiefs lead the league in turnover margin, and are +2.2 (far and away the best) at home this season. Oakland is the most penalized team in the league, by far, which is also something that's going to catch up with them. Oakland SHOULD have lost to Houston in Mexico, and were it not the "Texans" they would have. They "should" have lost to the Bills - but consider the competition. They "could" have lost in week one at New Orleans. And when you look at who they've played, it's been primarily "soft" teams, the Chief aren't soft. The Chiefs season looks like it's a mirror of last season when they just played their best football down the stretch, as good teams do, peaking at the right time. I trust Ried more than Del Rio, I trust Smith more than Carr, and I trust KC's defense more than Oakland's. That's typically enough.

Note: I have bought the half point here, to get the -5. I do like this for a 3* GOM size play up to Iowa St -7 FWIW. I have Iowa St. winning this game by at least 9 points after 40 minutes of play this evening. Iowa St has played a MUCH tougher schedule thus far. They lost by just 2 points on a neutral court to a very deep and talented Gonzaga club. I just feel very strong that this very solid Iowa St club has too much fire power for this weak Iowa club. I also feel very strong that Iowa St. will be "very up" for this in-state rival game, so there will be no "over looking" an inferior opponent this evening. The Chiefs won the first matchup of the year in October by out scoring the Raiders 26-10. Since then the Raiders are a perfect
6-0. Other than a two-point loss to Tampa Bay just over two weeks ago, the Chiefs have continued their winning ways, taking six of the last seven games. With their 11-1 record to close out the 2015 season, Kansas City is 20-4 in their last 24 regular-season and postseason games. The big story for the Raiders is not their huge comeback last week against the Bills but how did they get so far in the hole in that game in the first place. If the Chiefs win, they would be tied for the division lead with the Raiders but would own the tiebreaker advantage with victories in both meetings. It will be interesting to see if Carr, who injured his right pinky two weeks ago and took only shotgun snaps Sunday, will be able to take snaps under center to help timing and handling in cold weather that's supposed to be about 10 degrees with a possibility of snow. Alex Smith has been known as a game manager for most of his career, but the quarterback should be able to have some success against Oakland. The Chiefs have only been defeated once at home all year, so they’ll look to ride that momentum to victory in front of the Arrowhead faithful on Thursday. Dee Ford and Eric Berry are standouts on the defensive side for Kansas City, which forces the most turnovers in the NFL. Tyreek Hill has emerged as an offensive threat at wide receiver, as well as in the kick return game. Kansas City is looking to get back their No. 1 receiver Jeremy Maclin this week. The Chiefs have six wins in games in which they trailed by at least a touchdown. That’s the most in the NFL this season so with this rivalry, that and the cold weather should be enough to continue the Chiefs momentum. They have one of the best home crowds in the league. Raiders will have a tough time scoring against this defense, at that stadium.
