For BYU, the season continues due to there QB, Hill, injuring his arm and their back-up getting his starting job back looking to show off why he should have been the starter all along. BYU enters tonight’s game on a four game win streak and have won seven of their last eight games. Wyoming has lost two straight games and looks to bounce back in their bowl matchup. Most college football players are winding down their season in mid-December, but Tanner Mangum is just starting his campaign. Mangum passed for 3,337 yards and 23 touchdowns -- both school records for a freshman -- and developed cult status by throwing winning last-minute touchdown passes in both his first appearance (against Nebraska) and first start (Boise State). As far as being ready, he said he doesn't foresee that to be an issue as the Cougars (8-4) have had ample time to prepare for the Cowboys (8-5). The Cougars are feeling good about themselves in general as they enter the contest with four straight victories and seven of their past eight games. BYU has a solid running back in senior Jamaal Williams, who rushed for 1,165 yards and 11 touchdowns. Williams rushed for 131 yards in the regular-season finale against Utah State after missing three of the previous four games with an ankle injury. But ultimately defense is going to win this ball game and BYU has the better defense on paper. First-year defensive coordinator Ilaisa Tuiaki has done a terrific job with the Cougars and they will be aggressive to make things uneasy for Wyoming QB Josh Allen. Wyoming’s defense will not have an answer for Jamaal Williams. Williams is entering his final game as a BYU Cougar and it’ll be his final opportunity to showcase his talents to NFL scouts.
