Leading up to UFC 213 I was backing Amanda Nunes ... but after pulling out of the fight, a major red flag went up. Of course you want to enter fight day at 100% but it's pretty rare that happens after weeks of training and cutting weight. if you’re cleared by doctors and still won't fight obviously there is a problem other than health.

At UFC 196, Nunes came out on top with a unanimous decision victory over Shevchenko in a 3 round fight, but the "Lioness" was in serious trouble in the 3rd with Shevchenko grinding / wearing her down. If that fight had seen a 4th round, IMO the end result would have been totally different.

Shevchenko will have a ton of confidence heading into Saturday night knowing she can handle and survive Nunes' power while dragging the champ into deep water depleting her gas tank. This time around, the "Bullet" will have 2 more rounds to work with. A confident Valentina is a scary Valentina ... as long as the challenger can handle the early onslaught, there is a very good chance Shevchenko leaves Edmonton with the bantamweight strap over her shoulder.

I like it and agree with you on the first fight, if it were 5 rounds different result for sure. If you're training why would you have to cut so much weight? How much eating was she doing? I'm picking Shevchenko to wear her out by the 5th round. She's focused and probably angry for having to wait.

GL with your play!

I really think Amanda is scared after not putting away Valentina early in the first fight.

Shevchenko is the real deal ... Muay Thai expert / highly effective in the clinch with a deep kickboxing background

Add in Valentina's gas tank / endurance / confidence ........... I'll bite

Could have gone either way but the champ will always get the edge in a close one.

IMO Valentina fought a stupid fight ... nowhere near as aggressive as she was in the last one. She never pushed the pace and that allowed Nunes to have zero problem lasting the full 25. Also she fucked up bad in the 5th trying a hip toss that failed and Nunes took her back on the ground. At that point it was basically 2-2 and that screw up sealed her fate.

I can't stand Nunes but Shevchenko pissing and moaning she won was embarrassing. She fought not to lose and it backfired.

Hopefully this "War" is done ... I have no interest at all in a 3rd fight.
