Well folks ... this race honors the career the New York bred and multiple graded stakes winner, Notebook. Here in the 4th renewal of "The Book," #5 SEA FOAM, a 4-1 shot, has hit the board in in each of his four career starts to date, including a "POWER RUN WIN" to break his maiden in his last start. #3 WHAT A CATCH is 6-1 in the morning line, is the overall speed leader, and has hit the board in each of his respective four lifetime starts to date, including back-to-back "POWER RUN WINS" in his fist two "askings."

Rating: 3

#12 PURIMETER (ML=9/2)
#13 SMARTY KITTEN (ML=5/1)
#1 RENN LAKE (ML=7/2)

PURIMETER - Taking a class drop in class figure points from his November 15th race at Churchill Downs. Based on that data, I will give this thoroughbred the edge. Gelding took a little vacation, but has been racing into shape. This animal ran well at Keeneland on Oct 27th. Bounced in the last race, but should rebound today with a sharp effort. You should overlook that last event at Churchill Downs in the slop where he finished out of the money. Should do well in this race under better track conditions. SMARTY KITTEN - Several positive 'vibrations' associated with this thoroughbred and his brain trust. RENN LAKE - Morales comes to ride after getting to know the gelding in the last event. Don't often see a beneficial ROI like +28. This jock/conditioner duo has done well together over the last twelve months. Have to give this gelding a shot. Ran a strong outing last time around the track within the last month.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1A FATHER BUD (ML=7/2), #7 SAFE PASSAGE (ML=9/2), #5 FAITHFUL NEIGHBOR (ML=6/1),

FATHER BUD - The Brain always warns me to keep away from ponies in short distance contests that haven't hit the board in sprint events recently. SAFE PASSAGE - The form factor is somewhat in question after the addition of front bandages in the November 16th event. This horse ran a somewhat easily forgotten speed figure last race out. He shouldn't show signs of improvement and will probably get beat in today's event running that fig. FAITHFUL NEIGHBOR - Registered a most unsatisfactory speed figure last out in a $5,000 Claiming race on Nov 15th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that fig. A 'strong performance bounce' is likely to happen for this horse this time out. May rebound next time.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - PURIMETER - Coming right back after racing on Nov 15th at Churchill Downs. He'll run a good one in today's event.

#5 TIZ SEEKING A WIN (ML=5/2)
#3 COLONEL PEGGY SUE (ML=3/1)

TIZ SEEKING A WIN - This filly is in good form, having run a nice race on Oct 27th, finishing third. This racer wins a lot of dough per race around the track. I believe she can add to the lifetime total right here in this race. COLONEL PEGGY SUE - This rider and trainer have a high win percent together. Faced tougher last out at Santa Anita. Based on class figures, this is a weaker bunch, so I will put this horse on my list of top contenders.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 DIXIE AVENUE (ML=6/5), #6 SUNSET CITY (ML=8/1),

DIXIE AVENUE - A bit of a lackluster performance when this filly finished sixth. Earned her best speed figure in the last race, but the track conditions may have played a major role in the outcome. SUNSET CITY - Didn't hit the board on November 4th at Golden Gate Fields. Followed it up with another less than stellar performance. Run-of-the-mill rating in the last race at Golden Gate Fields at 5 furlongs. Don't believe this steed will improve too much in today's event.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - TIZ SEEKING A WIN - Watch out for this horse. My data would suggest that she will sit chilly for most of the race, then with a slight urging from Gryder, will take the lead turning for home.

# 7 WHITE BLUFF 5/1

# 5 SPIRIT GRABBER 9/2

# 4 SCHLOSSER 15/1

WHITE BLUFF looks to be a solid contender. When a trainer brings any horse back this soon it is a positive signal. Has recorded solid Equibase speed figs in dirt sprint races in the past. He has been running quite well as of late while recording strong Speed Figures. SPIRIT GRABBER - Lynch has a win percent of 17 over the last month. At the top in earnings per start at the distance/surface in this field. SCHLOSSER - Looks very good against this group of animals and will probably be one of the leaders. Lately Contreras has provided gamblers with a very good winning percentage with horses racing in dirt sprint races.

# 2 BOATHOUSE VIEW 9/2

ROCKPORT DANCER is the top wager in this race. Had one of the most favorable Equibase Speed Figures of this field in her last contest. Like the results in the last couple of races. BELLA FABIANA - Has performed soundly recently in sprint races, posting a nifty 82 avg speed figure. Ought to be given a shot in here if only for the formidable speed figure recorded in the last contest. BOATHOUSE VIEW - Has been racing in the most competitive company of the group lately. Has been racing soundly and has among the best speed in the race for today's distance.

Preview: Titans at Colts
Gracenote
Nov 22, 2017

In the thick of the AFC South Division race, the Tennessee Titans look to get back on the winning track when they visit the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. The Titans had their four-game winning streak snapped in their last outing where they were hammered at Pittsburgh 40-17 to drop into second place in the divisional race.

Tennessee quarterback Marcus Mariota is hoping to bounce back from one of his worst games as a professional when he faces the Colts. Mariota ran for a touchdown and threw for another, but also was picked off four times while under constant pressure from the Steelers' blitzing defense. The Colts expect to have Jacoby Brissett under center, although the quarterback was still in concussion protocol during the week. Brissett has thrown two touchdowns in each of his last three games.
TV: 1 p.m. ET, FOX. LINE: Titans -3.5. O/U: 44.

ABOUT THE TITANS (6-4): Mariota was hampered by a hamstring injury, but still paced the Titans to a 36-22 win over Colts earlier in the season. The victory snapped an 11-game losing streak to Indianapolis, one of the longest streaks to one team in NFL history. The Titans are in the midst of a stretch of four road games in five weeks and have lost their last nine games at Indianapolis.
ABOUT THE COLTS (3-7): Brissett took the bulk of the snaps in practice early in the week and coach Chuck Pagano said he should be ready to go. He was injured on a hit by Pittsburgh's Stephon Tuitt in the Colts' 20-17 loss last game, but did not show concussion-like symptoms until after the game. T.Y. Hilton looks to bounce back from a slow day where he caught just two passes for 23 yards after posting a season-high 175 yards receiving the previous week.

EXTRA POINTS
1. The Titans trail the Jaguars by a game in the South Division, but are a game ahead of the pack in the wild-card standings.
2. Indianapolis is last in the NFL, allowing 28 points a game.
3. The Titans controlled the clock in the last meeting, possessing the ball for just under 36 minutes.

Preview: Panthers at Jets
Gracenote
Nov 22, 2017

The Carolina Panthers are looking very much like the team that went to the Super Bowl two years ago, with Cam Newton back in MVP form. Newton and the Panthers will try to regain the momentum they had before the bye week and earn a fourth consecutive win when they visit the New York Jets on Sunday.

Newton enjoyed his best game of the season before the bye, throwing for 254 yards and four touchdowns while adding 95 yards on five carries in a 45-21 win over the Miami Dolphins. "We just want to keep it going," Newton told reporters before the bye. "It's nothing saying we've hit our Pinnacle (http://www.cappersmall.com/forums/redirect-to/?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fcappersmall2.com%2Flines.ph p) yet, and there's nothing saying we can't get better. That's the thing we've just got to be optimistic about." The Panthers might need to work to maintain their focus this week with a showdown at the NFC South-leading New Orleans Saints set for next week and a matchup against a Jets team that dropped four of the last five games. New York went into its bye with a sour taste after dropping a 15-10 decision at Tampa Bay, but is only one game out of a wild-card spot in the AFC and is sticking by veteran quarterback Josh McCown.

TV: 1 p.m. ET, FOX. LINE: Panthers -5. O/U: 40

ABOUT THE PANTHERS (7-3): Newton figures to get a big weapon back on Sunday in tight end Greg Olsen, who suffered a broken foot in Week 2 but was taken off injured reserve on Monday and spent the week practicing with the team in anticipation of playing Sunday. "You just want to remember how to do this," Olsen told reporters. "You take a lot of things for granted sometimes that you're going to pick up where you left off, but there is a little bit of a learning curve when you've been out for a while." Olsen rejoins a receiving corps that was getting a little thin after trading away Kelvin Benjamin and losing Curtis Samuel for the rest of the season to an ankle injury.

ABOUT THE JETS (4-6): New York was not expected to do much this season except put the team in position to draft its quarterback of the future, and there were some calls for coach Todd Bowles to get one of the younger quarterbacks on the roster - Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg - some playing time with the team seemingly sliding out of the race. "I'm not coming up with a scenario right now (that would involve a change at quarterback)," Bowles told reporters. "We're going to play the games and we're going to try to win each one. ... Josh will be our quarterback and we'll go from there." McCown, 38, is completing 69 percent of his passes with 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions, but has been sacked 32 times - third most in the NFL.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Panthers C Matt Kalil (neck) came off IR this week and is questionable for Sunday.

2. Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) sat out the last game and is questionable.

3. Carolina WR Devin Funchess recorded a season-high 92 yards and two TDs last time out on Nov. 13.

The Atlanta Falcons have worked their way back into the NFC playoff picture, and they’ll try to solidify their standing with a third consecutive victory when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The Falcons have won three of their last four games, while the Buccaneers have captured two straight following a five-game skid.

The Falcons are back in the wild-card race after posting a 34-31 win at Seattle on Monday and are beginning a stretch of three straight home games, although the next two are against division leaders Minnesota and New Orleans. After suffering three losses by six points or fewer, the Falcons have seen two close games go their way in the last four weeks. "We're getting the outcome we want now," Falcons receiver Julio Jones told reporters. "Winning will breed more swagger and more confidence." The Buccaneers have confidence in quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is 2-0 as a starter since replacing the injured Jameis Winston after passing for 275 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s 30-20 win at Miami.

TV: 1 p.m. ET, FOX. LINE: Falcons -10. O/U: 48.5

ABOUT THE BUCCANEERS (4-6): Tampa Bay has been unable to get its ground game going, even with Doug Martin back from suspension. The offense has turned things around with Fitzpatrick at the helm, though, simply by taking care of the ball – the Bucs have committed only one turnover in their last two games after coughing it up nine times in their previous four contests. One of the league’s worst pass defenses was torched for 365 yards through the air last week, but the Bucs offset it by forcing five turnovers - giving them 19 takeaways this season.

ABOUT THE FALCONS (6-4): Atlanta’s dramatic offensive drop-off continued last week, as it totaled just 279 yards in the win at Seattle. Jones has only one touchdown reception and two 100-yard receiving performances all season while Matt Ryan is averaging 256.7 passing yards – down from 309 last season. Atlanta has done a great job against the pass but has struggled to stop the run, allowing an average of 148 yards on the ground over the last three games.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Ryan has thrown a touchdown pass in 28 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the league.

2. Tampa Bay WR Mike Evans has averaged 96.6 receiving yards and caught five touchdown passes in his last five meetings with the Falcons.

3. Atlanta RB Devonta Freeman, who is questionable due to a concussion, has recorded 13 TDs in his last nine home games.

Alshon Jeffery insists that his concerns lie with the future rather than the past, so much so that a meeting with his former team doesn't hold as much weight as what potentially is ahead. For now, the immediate is all that is on his plate as Jeffery looks to lend a hand in helping the surging Philadelphia Eagles to their ninth straight win on Sunday when they host the Chicago Bears.

"As long as we get the division and that ring, I don't care what happens. That's all that matters - winning the Super Bowl," said the 27-year-old Jeffery, who left a 3-13 season with the Bears last season to sign a one-year, $9.5 million deal with Philadelphia in January. While Jeffery's individual stats are far from gaudy (38 receptions, 567 yards, six TDs), the Eagles have the best record (9-1), scored the most points (320), thrown the most passing touchdowns (25) and have the best red zone efficiency (73.53 percent) in the league this season. Chicago, on the other hand, continues to experience growing pains with losses in three straight to reside in the cellar of the NFC North. "We've shown spurts and moments ... but we have lulls," coach John Fox said. "We have siestas. We just don't do it for 60 minutes. Nobody, I think, is good enough to overcome that."

TV: 1 p.m. ET, FOX. LINE: Eagles -13.5. O/U: 44

ABOUT THE BEARS (3-7): Pernell McPhee insists he's up to the challenge of stepping up in place of former first-round pick Leonard Floyd (11.5 sacks in 22 career games), who sustained MCL and PCL injuries in Sunday's 27-24 loss to Detroit. "It ain't (going to be) hard for me to pick up the load. I'm bred to do this," said the 28-year-old McPhee, who has four sacks this season. Rookie Mitchell Trubisky continues to show modest progress after completing 60 percent of his passes for the second straight week while rushing for a season-high 53 yards against the Lions. Jordan Howard is better suited for the ground game, however, as he rushed for 125 yards last week and found the end zone for the first time since September.

ABOUT THE EAGLES (9-1): Carson Wentz was held to a season-low 168 passing yards on Sunday, but he tossed two touchdown passes in the 37-9 rout of arch-rival Dallas to increase his total to 19 over the last six games. Wentz is buoyed by a potent ground attack, with Jay Ajayi rolling up 168 yards on just 15 carries since being acquired from Miami and rookie Corey Clement finding the end zone on four occasions (three rushing, one receiving) in that same two-game span. An opportunistic defense posted three interceptions and four sacks versus the Cowboys, with defensive end Derek Barnett recording his second two-sack performance in his last four games.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Chicago signed Cairo Santos on Monday, one day after fellow kicker Connor Barth missed a game-tying 46-yard field goal attempt in the waning moments versus Detroit.

2. Speaking of kickers, Philadelphia coach Doug Pederson said on Wednesday that "everything is looking good" for Jake Elliott (concussion) to play versus the Bears.

3. Chicago DE Akiem Hicks has failed to record a sack in the last two games after collecting seven in his previous eight contests.

Preview: Bills at Chiefs
Gracenote
Nov 23, 2017

After a disappointing loss last week, the Kansas City Chiefs have a chance to get back on track when they host the struggling Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Both teams are in the middle of the AFC playoff picture despite recent stumbles.

The Chiefs have lost two straight and four of their last five, most recently suffering a 12-9 overtime loss to the woeful New York Giants. The Chiefs still hold a two-game lead over Oakland and the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC West, but their defense continues to have trouble and the offense has sputtered after a hot start. Buffalo still is in the running for a wild-card spot but has lost three straight, including back-to-back blowout setbacks against New Orleans and the Chargers. Coach Sean McDermott made the ill-advised move to bench quarterback Tyrod Taylor after the loss to the Saints, and Nathan Peterman threw five interceptions against Los Angeles in his first NFL start.

TV: 1 p.m. ET, CBS. LINE: Chiefs -10. O/U: 46.5

ABOUT THE BILLS (5-5): Taylor takes back the reins of the Bills’ offense, which ranks 30th in passing but 11th in rushing. Taylor has thrown 11 touchdown passes and three interceptions, and he pairs with LeSean McCoy (709 rushing yards, four TDs) to form a dangerous ground game, but the Bills want to see him take more chances to open up the air attack. The bigger issue during the three-game skid has been defense’s inability to stop the run – the Bills have allowed 638 rushing yards in their last three games.

ABOUT THE CHIEFS (6-4): Kansas City’s offense looked unstoppable during a 5-0 start, but Pittsburgh provided a blueprint for slowing it down in Week 6, and the Chiefs have been pedestrian on offense ever since. The Chiefs have committed six turnovers in their last three games after having only one giveaway in their first seven contests, and rookie Kareem Hunt has not rushed for 100 yards in his last five games after doing so in four of his first five contests. Kansas City has struggled all around on defense but particularly against the run, holding only one opponent under 100 rushing yards.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Chiefs QB Alex Smith has not thrown an interception in his last four home games.

2. McCoy has 352 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns in his last three meetings with the Chiefs.

3. The Chiefs signed CB Darrelle Revis on Wednesday to solidify their secondary, but it is unclear whether he will play Sunday.

Preview: Dolphins at Patriots
Gracenote
Nov 22, 2017

The New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins will be traveling in similar circles over the next few weeks despite squarely heading in opposite directions in the standings. The AFC East rivals will play the first of two encounters in a three-week stretch on Sunday when they meet in Foxborough, Mass.

"I think you prepare for this game the best you can and give yourself the best opportunity to perform well and win, and then worry about next week, next week," coach Bill Belichick said. The one-game-at-a-time approach has been a familiar refrain for Belichick and the Patriots, who breezed to their sixth straight win last week after dismantling Oakland 33-8 in Mexico City. A visit to New England hardly is comforting news for Miami, which hasn't walked out of Gillette Stadium with a victory since debuting the "Wildcat" offense in 2008. The reeling Dolphins are in need of a few more tricks up their sleeve as their once-sturdy defense has sprung a significant leak, with the team being outscored 142-65 during its four-game losing skid.

TV: 1 p.m. ET, CBS. LINE: Patriots -16.5. O/U: 47.5

ABOUT THE DOLPHINS (4-6): Last Sunday originally was scheduled to be Miami's bye week, and the club certainly looked like it took the week off as Jay Cutler tossed three interceptions in the first two quarters of Sunday's 30-20 loss to Tampa Bay. Cutler was removed from the contest and is questionable to play this Sunday after being placed in concussion protocol, with Matt Moore completing 17 of 28 passes for 282 yards and a touchdown in relief. Jarvis Landry scored a touchdown for the third straight week and sixth time in seven outings, but the 24-year-old may get an earful from the New England faithful after saying in April that the Patriots would be swept by the Dolphins this season and "they're not our big brother anymore."

ABOUT THE PATRIOTS (8-2): Tom Brady completed a season-high 81.1 percent of his passes versus the Raiders and threw for three touchdowns for the second straight outing. Offseason acquisition Brandin Cooks reeled in six receptions for a season-best 149 yards with a touchdown last week and faces a Dolphins' secondary that has struggled in coverage. Rob Gronkowski saw both his production (three catches, 36 yards) and snaps (53) take a hit last week, with fellow tight end Martellus Bennett getting back up to speed in his second stint with the Patriots. Dion Lewis has assumed the reins in the crowded backfield by averaging 15 touches and 65.7 scrimmage yards over the last three games, with Super Bowl hero James White seeing both his role and playing time diminish in that stretch.

EXTRA POINTS

1. New England, which is averaging an NFL fourth-best 29.0 points per game, has outscored opponents 126-58 in the second quarter this season.

2. Dolphins WR Kenny Stills, who erupted for seven catches for 180 yards and a touchdown last week, had a scoring reception in both contests versus the Patriots last season.

3. New England has an NFL-least five turnovers and is tied for third with a plus-8 differential, while Miami is 29th with a minus-9 turnover differential (eight takeaways, 17 giveaways).

Nov 22, 2017

After snapping its three-game skid last week, the Cincinnati Bengals look to boost their long-shot playoff hopes when they host the winless Cleveland Browns on Sunday. The Bengals, who blasted the blasted the Browns 31-7 earlier in the season, opened the week just one game out of the final wild-card playoff spot.

The Bengals hope that last week's 20-17 win at Denver jump-starts an unlikely playoff drive. Only two NFL teams have ever made the playoffs after starting a season 3-6. Cleveland was competitive once again last week, but fell apart late in a 19-7 loss to Jacksonville. The Browns dropped to 1-25 under coach Hue Jackson and are 4-43 since Nov. 30, 2014 -- the worst 47-game stretch in NFL history.
TV: 1 p.m. ET, CBS. LINE: Bengals -8. O/U: 38.

ABOUT THE BROWNS (0-10): Turnovers continue to plague rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer, who was intercepted twice, sacked five times and lost two fumbles against the Jaguars. The Browns were held to just four yards of offense in the first quarter and scored their only points when Kizer hooked up with Duke Johnson for a 27-yard touchdown early in the second quarter. Corey Coleman made an instant impact in his return to action, catching six of his team-high 11 targets for 80 yards.
ABOUT THE BENGALS (4-6): Andy Dalton threw three touchdown passes in the win as the Bengals won in Denver for the first time since 1975 last week. Dalton has re-invigorated the deep passing game with four touchdown passes of 18 yards or more over the past two games after having just three through the first eight outings. A.J. Green has scored in consecutive weeks and ranks eighth in the NFL with 743 yards receiving and is tied for third with six touchdowns.

EXTRA POINTS
1. Bengals TE Tyler Kroft caught a scoring pass last week, but injured his hand and is questionable.
2. Cleveland is just the third team in NFL history to start consecutive seasons at 0-10.
3. The Browns are last in the NFL in scoring, averaging 15 points per game.

Preview: Seahawks at 49ers
Gracenote
Nov 23, 2017

The Seattle Seahawks have dropped two of their last three games as they maintain their pursuit of the first-place Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West. Seattle hopes to keep the heat on the Rams on Sunday as it visits the San Francisco 49ers, a team it has defeated seven consecutive times.

The Seahawks dropped a 34-31 decision to Atlanta on Monday night to remain one game behind Los Angeles and are being hurt by a suspect running game as quarterback Russell Wilson (376 yards) has nearly three times as many rushing yards as offseason acquisition Eddie Lacy. "I don't think it's a lack of talent at running back," Wilson told reporters. "We have some great running backs, we just have to do a little bit better, that's all." San Francisco lost its first nine games before giving first-year coach Kyle Shanahan his first victory and is coming off a bye. The 49ers were outscored 93-30 in the final three games of that skid before posting a 31-21 win over the New York Giants on Nov. 12.

TV: 4:05 p.m. ET, FOX. LINE: Seahawks -6.5. O/U: 45

ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS (6-4): Wilson gained 86 of Seattle's 136 rushing yards against the Falcons as the lack of production from the running backs continues to plague the offense. Wilson ranks second in the NFL with 2,801 passing yards and third with 21 touchdown tosses, but the team's scoring has fluctuated of late as it has recorded four contests of 16 or fewer points and two of more than 40. Middle linebacker Bobby Wagner ranks second in the NFL with 92 tackles and the defensive unit is tied for 10th in scoring defense (19.9 points) and ninth in total defense (314.9 yards).

ABOUT THE 49ERS (1-9): Shanahan announced Wednesday that rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard (four touchdowns, five interceptions) remains the starter as the recently acquired Jimmy Garoppolo isn't yet ready to play. "He just hasn't been here long enough, and I think he'll get an opportunity to be better each week," Shanahan told reporters. "I don't think we're going to see Jimmy's best football, to be fair to him, until next year because that's what guys need. But C.J. did play his best football last (game), which definitely, to me, made the decision easier." San Francisco continues to struggle defensively as it ranks 29th in scoring defense (26 points) and 27th in total defense (379.8 yards).

EXTRA POINTS

1. The Seahawks squeaked out a 12-9 victory in the season's first meeting.

2. San Francisco RB Carlos Hyde (592 yards) rushed for a season-best 124 yards in September's matchup.

3. Seattle released seven-time Pro Bowl DE Dwight Freeney, even though he recorded three sacks in four games with the club.

Preview: Broncos at Raiders
Gracenote
Nov 23, 2017

The Denver Broncos will have a new look on offense as they attempt to halt their six-game losing streak when they visit the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Two days after replacing Mike McCoy as offensive coordinator with Bill Musgrave on an interim basis, coach Vance Joseph announced Paxton Lynch would make his first start of the season at quarterback in place of Brock Osweiler.

Lynch, who made two starts for the Broncos as a rookie last season, had been inactive for the team's first nine games due to the sprained shoulder he suffered during the preseason. While Denver fell to 0-6 since its bye with last Sunday's 20-17 setback against Cincinnati, the Raiders also flopped after their week off as they were trounced 33-8 in Mexico City last week by New England. Oakland had won two of three before the bye but now stands two games behind Kansas City for first place in the AFC West. The Broncos are 0-4 on the road this season and occupy the basement in the divison, one game back of the Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers.

TV: 4:25 p.m. ET, CBS. LINE: Raiders -5. O/U: 43.5

ABOUT THE BRONCOS (3-7): The 23-year-old Lynch, who stands 6-7 but was sacked nine times while throwing two touchdown passes and one interception in three games last season, discounted the notion of feeling pressure this week. "You can't let the season get bigger than you or the game be bigger than you," he told reporters. "Whether we were on a winning streak or not, it's one game at a time, so that was the mentality coming into it." Emmanuel Sanders, who is second on the team with 448 receiving yards, has played in the team's last three games after missing two with an ankle injury but sat out Wednesday's practice.

ABOUT THE RAIDERS (4-6): While Denver took a new approach offensively, Oakland did the same on the other side of the ball, relieving Ken Norton Jr. of his duties as defensive coordinator on Tuesday and replacing him with John Pagano. "After careful thought, I have made a difficult decision," coach Jack Del Rio said in a statement. "I have the utmost respect for Ken as a person and as a coach, but I feel that moving John Pagano into the play-calling role will best utilize his wealth of experience." Khalil Mack has feasted on Denver quarterbacks of late, registering nine sacks in his last four meetings with the club.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Broncos CB Aqib Talib (shoulder) also did not participate in practice on Wednesday.

2. Oakland's Jared Cook is one of five tight ends in the league with at least 40 catches (41) and 500 receiving yards (535).

3. Denver has not won since beating Oakland 16-10 at home on Oct. 1.

Preview: Jaguars at Cardinals
Gracenote
Nov 23, 2017

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this season as they sit atop the AFC South after finishing last season in the basement with a 3-13 record. The Jaguars attempt to maintain first place in the division when they visit the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

Jacksonville owns a one-game lead in the South over Tennessee thanks to a winning streak that reached four games with last Sunday's 19-7 triumph at Cleveland. The Jaguars' defense has been a huge reason for their turnaround, as it has allowed a league-low average of 14.1 points per game. Arizona is in the midst of its first losing streak of the campaign as it has dropped back-to-back contests against Seattle and Houston. The positive from last week's 31-21 road setback against the Texans was the fact the Cardinals eclipsed the 20-point mark for the first time in four games and third time overall this season.

TV: 4:25 p.m. ET, CBS. LINE: Jaguars -5.5. O/U: 38

ABOUT THE JAGUARS (7-3): Jacksonville has held opponents under 10 points in six of its first 10 games and can become the fifth team since 1940 to do so in seven of its initial 11 contests. Leonard Fournette ranks third in the AFC with 740 rushing yards and has registered four 100-yard performances, which is tied for the most in the league this season and second-most by a rookie in franchise history. Blake Bortles has excelled against the NFC on the road, recording 1,144 passing yards and 11 touchdowns in four career games.

ABOUT THE CARDINALS (4-6): After completing 22-of-34 passes for 257 yards and a career-high three touchdowns last week in his debut with Arizona, Blaine Gabbert gets a shot at the team that drafted him 10th overall in 2011. "Things didn't work out for me there, but looking back on it, hindsight is always 20/20," the 28-year-old Gabbert told reporters regarding his time in Jacksonville. "There were some things in my control, some things out of my control. For whatever reason, it didn't work, but I wouldn't change it at all." Larry Fitzgerald reached 15,157 career receiving yards last week, passing Tony Gonzalez for fifth place on the all-time list, and needs 52 yards against the Jaguars to overtake Isaac Bruce (15,208) for fourth.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Fitzgerald, who is 136 receiving yards behind Randy Moss for third all-time, needs six catches on Sunday to join Gonzalez and Jerry Rice as the only players in NFL history with 1,200 career receptions.

2. Jacksonville DE Calais Campbell, who played for Arizona from 2008-16, is tied for the league lead with 11.5 sacks.

3. Arizona RB Adrian Peterson is one away from becoming the ninth player in league history with 100 career rushing touchdowns.

Preview: Saints at Rams
Gracenote
Nov 22, 2017

Not much was expected of the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams before the start of the season, but expectations change. The two division leaders will square off on Sunday when the Saints put their eight-game winning streak on the line against the host Rams.

Los Angeles leads the NFC West but saw its four-game winning streak come to an end last week in a rare struggle for the offense, 24-7 at Minnesota. "It's frustrating, but, you know, the reality is we need it. We need some adversity," left tackle Andrew Whitworth told reporters. "You know, it's not to say we didn't need to come back and win that game. But, you know what? Some of the adverse situations in that game -- on the road in a really hard place to play against probably one of the best defenses in the league -- to play the kind of game that we were in, and for this team to be in the game that we were in, I think it shows you that we're legit and that we're the real deal. And if we get this opportunity again in the playoffs, and get a chance to get in, then we'll be prepared for it." The Rams are in for a test against another top defense in New Orleans, which held six of its last eight opponents to 20 or fewer points. The Saints are starting to show some wear on that defense as injuries mount, and defensive end Alex Okafor will miss the rest of the season after suffering an Achilles injury in last week's 34-31 win over Washington.

TV: 4:25 p.m. ET, FOX. LINE: Rams -2.5. O/U: 53.5

ABOUT THE SAINTS (8-2): New Orleans is averaging 30.2 points -- third in the NFL -- and is taking the pressure off quarterback Drew Brees and the passing game with a ground attack led by veteran Mark Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara. Ingram was named the NFC's Offensive Player of the Week after rumbling for 134 yards on just 11 carries in last week's win and is over 1,000 yards from scrimmage on the season (806 rushing, 213 receiving). Kamara is on the verge of 1,000 yards as well (459 rushing, 447 receiving) and scored at least one TD in each of the last four games.

ABOUT THE RAMS (7-3): Los Angeles is one spot ahead of New Orleans in scoring offense (second in the NFL at 30.3 points) but will be without top wide receiver Robert Woods for the next couple of games due to a shoulder injury. Rookie Cooper Kupp is second on the team with 481 receiving yards and will be expected to pick up the slack along with Sammy Watkins (408 yards, four TDs) and Tavon Austin, a former first-round pick without a reception in any of the last three games. "I don't expect much of a fall-off," Rams quarterback Jared Goff told reporters. "I know Robert Woods is special, and his production has been great this year, but I'm looking forward to seeing guys step up this week."

EXTRA POINTS

1. Saints rookie CB Marshon Lattimore (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday and is questionable for Sunday.

2. Los Angeles LB Mark Barron, who leads the team with 72 tackles and three interceptions, is questionable due to a hand injury.

3. New Orleans signed CBs Sterling Moore and Dexter McDougal this week.

Preview: Packers at Steelers
Gracenote
Nov 22, 2017

The Pittsburgh Steelers are holding down the pole position for the top seed in the AFC and will take a five-game winning streak in Sunday's prime-time clash against the visiting Green Bay Packers. While Pittsburgh owns a three-game cushion atop the AFC North, sputtering Green Bay trails three teams by one game for the NFC's final playoff slot.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is coming off his best game of the season in a 40-17 rout of Tennessee on Nov. 16, helping to quiet talk that he doesn't care about the game as much. “I’m going to go out here and bust my butt every day and be limping with bruises and put my body and my family through this and not care?" Roethlisberger asked on his weekly radio show. "You’re absolutely nuts.” While Roethlisberger and Pittsburgh have turned things around since a humbling home loss to Jacksonville in Week 5, Green Bay has dropped four of five since Aaron Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone and was shut out at home for the first time since 2006 in last week's 23-0 drubbing by Baltimore. "We're not in panic mode, everything is still in front of us," Packers receiver Davante Adams said after the loss. "We've got to get a grip of it real quick here. Otherwise, we will be in panic mode."

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, NBC. LINE: Steelers -14. O/U: 42

ABOUT THE PACKERS (5-5): Green Bay rolled up 93 points during a three-game winning streak prior to the injury to Rodgers, but it is averaging 13.4 in the five games since Brett Hundley replaced the two-time MVP. Hundley was intercepted three times by the Ravens and has two scoring passes against seven interceptions while averaging only 156.7 yards passing per game. Adams is Hundley's favorite target with 20 receptions over the past three games, but the running game has been weakened by injuries to Ty Montgomery and Aaron Jones, who both did not practice Wednesday. Green Bay's defense limited Baltimore to 219 yards of total offense.

ABOUT THE STEELERS (8-2): Since he was picked off five times in the 30-9 loss to Jacksonville, Roethlisberger has guided Pittsburgh to five straight wins by throwing for 1,328 yards with 10 TDs and a 102.7 passer rating. Wideout Antonio Brown leads the league in catches (70) and receiving yards (1,026) after hauling in 10 receptions and three scoring passes in the romp over Tennessee. Pittsburgh also features the NFL's leading rusher in Le'Veon Bell, who has racked up 886 yards despite being limited to 46 versus the Titans. Pittsburgh is second in the league at 16.5 points allowed and has not permitted more than 17 points during the five-game run.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Roethlisberger has won his last six prime-time games at home, throwing for 20 touchdowns and two interceptions.

2. Adams has at least one touchdown reception in his last five road games.

3. Bell has at least 90 yards from scrimmage in 10 straight home games.

Over is 3-1 in Browns’ road games, 1-3 in Bengal home games. Cleveland gets WR Gordon back from suspension, which should be a big upgrade.

Home teams are 4-0-1 vs spread in AFC East divisional games this season. Under is 5-1 in Patriots’ last six games.

Buffalo lost its last three games, giving up 101 points the last two weeks; Bills are -9 in turnovers in last three games, after being +14 in first seven. Buffalo is 2-2 as road underdogs this year, losing away games by 6-4-13-30 points, with win in Atlanta. Chiefs lost four of last five games after a 5-0 start, still lead AFC West by couple games. Bucs are +7 in turnovers their last three games. Tampa Bay won three of last four series games, winning 23-19/31-24 in last two visits here. Average total in last eight series games, 56.0. NFL-wide, divisional home favorites are 9-12-2 vs spread. Under is 3-1 in Bucs’ last four games, 6-1 in last seven Falcon games.

Panthers (7-3) @ Jets (4-6)— Both teams are off their bye week; Carolina won 27-23/30-20 in its last two post-bye games, Jets lost six of last eight post-bye games. Jets lost four of their last five games; they’re last three losses were all by 5 or less points. Gang Green is 3-2 at home, losing to Patriots by 7, Falcons by 5- they’re 5-3-1 as an underdog. Teams split six meetings, with home side winning five of the six. Panthers lost both series meetings here, 48-21/17-6. Seahawks (6-4) @ 49ers (1-9)— Short week for banged-up Seattle after 34-31 loss Monday night. Seattle (-13) edged 49ers 12-9 back in Week 2; they outgained Niners 312-248- neither team averaged 5.0 yds/pass attempt. Seahawks won last eight series games, winning last three visits here, by 16-17-2 points. 49ers lost last four post-bye games, are 0-5 vs spread in last five. Rams’ best WR Woods (shoulder) is out for couple of weeks; LA is 2-2 at home this year- they won four of last five games overall, are 4-4 vs spread in games with spread of 4 or less points. Teams split last six meetings; Rams lost 49-21 in Superdome LY. NFC West non-divisional home favorites are 3-3 vs spread; NFC South road underdogs are 3-2-1. Essential Week 12 betting tidbits and odds for NFL Sunday

The Broncos are trotting out their third different starting quarterback this season with 2016 first round draft pick Paxton Miller slated to start on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.

Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts (+3.5, 46)

Titans leading receiver Rishard Matthews missed practice on Friday with a sore hamstring and will be a game-time decision on Sunday. Matthews leads the team with 626 receiving yards and three TD catches. He had five catches for 113 yards and a touchdown last week against the Steelers.

LINE HISTORY: The Titans opened as 4.5-point road favorites but have been bet down to as low as -3. The total moved as high as two points above the opening number of 44 and seems to be settling at 45.5.

TRENDS:

*The Titans are 7-21 ATS in their last 28 road games.
*The over is 10-2 in the Titans’ last 12 games against AFC South opponents.
*Indy is 6-0 ATS in its last six home games against Tennessee.

Carolina Panthers at New York Jets (+5.5, 40)

The Panthers welcome back Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen who’s been out since Week 2 with a broken bone in his foot. That’s the good news. The bad news is the club’s top two centers (Ryan Kalil and Tyler Larsen) are both listed as questionable to play against the Jets.

Kalil, a former Pro Bowl player, likely won’t play because of a lingering neck injury. Head coach Ron Rivera sounded more optimistic about the chances of Larsen playing.

LINE HISTORY: The books installed Carolina as a 4.5-point road fave against the Jets and the spread has moved up a point to 5.5. The total opened at 39.5 and most shops are dealing 40 or 40.5.

TRENDS:

*The Jets are 6-0 ATS in their last six home games.
*The over is 4-0 in the Panthers’ last four games coming off a bye week.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons (-10, 48.5)

The Falcons’ offense didn’t have an extraordinary game last week against the Seahawks. Seattle held them to 284 yards but the Dirty Birds were efficient in the red zone. Defending league MVP Matt Ryan has completed eight of his last 12 pass attempts for 60 yards with five TDs and no picks in the red zone over the last three games.

Star receiver Julio Jones has tortured Tampa Bay over the years. Jones has six career, 100-yard receiving games and eight career touchdown grabs against the Bucs.

LINE HISTORY: The Falcons opened as 10-point home faves and that’s where we stand heading into the weekend. The total opened at 48 and it’s crept a half point up at a few locations.

TRENDS:

*The Bucs are 0-4 ATS in their last four games against divisional foes.
*The over is 12-3 in the Falcons’ last 15 home games.

Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles (-14, 44)

The Eagles became the 44th team since 1985 to win seven straight games against the spread. Only 19 of the previous 43 covered in their next game. This is also the biggest spread the Eagles have seen all season although they did cover against the Niners as 13-point chalk.

LINE HISTORY: Plenty of shops are dealing just below the two touchdown spread as we head into the weekend. The total is jumping between 43.5 and 44.5.

TRENDS:

*The Bears are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games against teams with winning records.
*The Eagles are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games overall.

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs (-10, 46.5)

The Chiefs signed 32-year-old cornerback Darrelle Revis this week in hopes of improving the league’s 28th-ranked passing defense. Only the Indianapolis Colts give up more yards per completion than the Chiefs at 12.9. Revis is expected to start opposite defensive back Marcus Peters. KC has paired Peters with a number of corners with little success this season.

Revis was a free agent for a good reason. He played poorly last year for the Jets – something the seven-time Pro Bowl chalks up to being in poor shape. Revis is playing weight of 205 during his prime years, but it’s yet to be determined if he has the speed to keep up with young receivers.

LINE HISTORY: The books opened with the Chiefs favored by 9.5-points and we’re now looking at a 10-point spread. The total opened around 45 and many shops are dealing 46.5 as we enter the weekend.

TRENDS:

*The Bills are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games.
*The over is 5-0 in the Bills’ last five games.

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots (-16.5, 47.5)

That might seem like a lot of points to give for an NFL game, but don’t forget giving two touchdowns or more on the spread is nothing new for Tom Brady. The Pats are 12-8 ATS when favored by 14 or more points since the 2007 season – and an even better 11-5 ATS when giving 14.5 or more points. One of those ATS loses came in Week 1 of the 2008 campaign when Tom Brady’s was injured early and replaced by Matt Cassel.

Matt Moore will be starting at quarterback for the Dolphins. Miami was blown out 40-0 against Baltimore in the one game Moore started for the club this season.

LINE HISTORY: The Pats opened as 17-point chalk but have come down a half point. The total is holding steady at 47.5.

TRENDS:

*The home team is 9-1 ATS in the last 10 games between these two sides.
*The over is 5-0 in the Dolphins’ last five games.
*The Patriots are 6-0 ATS in their last six games against teams with losing records.

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals (-8, 38)

The Bengals offense gains the fewest yards per rush attempt at 3.0 and the Browns defense allows the fewest yards per attempt at 3.1. Expect to see a lot of Andy Dalton passing in this game.

Bengals beat reporter Jay Morrison provided a great stat on Twitter: If the Browns hold the Bengals to 60 or fewer yards Cincy will become the first team since the AFL/NFL merger in 1970 to go five games without gaining more than 60 yards on the ground in a contest.

LINE HISTORY: Some shops opened up with the Bengals giving 9 points but most locations are now dealing Browns +8. There hasn’t been any movement on the total as we head into the weekend.

TRENDS:

*The Browns are 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 games against divisional opponents.
*The Bengals are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games against teams with losing records.
*The under is 13-5 in the Bengals’ last 18 games overall.
*Cincy is 6-0 ATS in its last six games against Cleveland.

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (+6.5, 45.5)

The Seahawks secondary is running out of healthy bodies. Already down All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman, the unit will also be without safety Kam Chancellor and cornerback Shaquill Griffin against the 49ers.

LINE HISTORY: The books opened this spread with the Seahawks giving seven points but the line has come down a half point. The total has moved up three points from 42 to 45.

TRENDS:

*The Seahawks are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games.
*The Niners are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against NFC West opposition.
*Seattle is 9-2-1 ATS in its last 12 games against the Niners.

Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders (-4.5, 43)

The Broncos have a new quarterback under center and a new offensive coordinator calling the plays on the sidelines. The team had enough – like the rest of the viewing public – of Brock Osweiler and decided to hand the ball to Paxton Lynch.

Lynch becomes the third different starting quarterback for the Broncos this season after Trevor Siemian won the job from Lynch in training camp. Lynch is the Broncos’ first round pick from the 2016 NFL Draft.

Denver fired former OC Mike McCoy and appointed Bill Musgrave as his replacement. Musgrave was the offensive coordinator in Minnesota during the peak Adrian Peterson years but his services were not retained when Mike Zimmer took over. Musgrave bounced around and eventually landed as Oakland’s OC but was fired in January 2017 after he held the job for two years.

LINE HISTORY: The spread is bounced between 4.5 and 5.5. The total is holding steady at 43 and 43.5.

TRENDS:

*The Broncos are 0-6 ATS in their last six games overall.
*The Raiders are 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight games.
*The Broncos are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 games against the Raiders.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Arizona Cardinals (+5.5, 38)

Future Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey says he will not play on Sunday because of a hand injury but the Jags are still listing their best DB as questionable.

Jacksonville’s pass rush should be able to cover for Ramsey’s absence. The Jags have a league- high 40 sacks on the season after taking down Cleveland quarterback DeShone Kizer five times last weekend. Four of those five sacks came with just a four-man pass rush.

LINE HISTORY: The Jags opened as 4-point favorites and the line now sits at 5.5 at many locations. The total opened at 38 and there are some books now dealing 37.5.

TRENDS:

*The Jags are 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games.
*The under is 4-0 in the Jags’ last four games.
*The under is 13-3 in Arizona’s last 16 home games.

New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Rams (-2, 54)

The Saints go into their showdown with the NFC West-leading Rams without their top two cornerbacks. Rookie Marshon Lattimore (ankle) and second-year starter Ken Crawley (abdomen) have both been ruled out for Sunday’s game.

The Rams own the ninth-best passing attack with an average of 255 yards gained in the air per game.

LINE HISTORY: Just about all books opened with the Rams giving 2.5 points but the line dropped a half point in the middle part of the week. The total is hanging between 54 and 53.5.

TRENDS:

*The Saints are 8-0 SU and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games.
*The Rams are 4-1 ATS in their last five games.
*The under is 3-1 in the Rams’ last four games.

Green Bay Packers at Pittsburgh Steelers (-14, 43.5)

How much is good quarterback play worth to the pointspread? Consider this: before this week, the Packers had been a 14-point or larger underdog just once since 1994. The Pack were 14-point underdogs against the Patriots in 2010. Coincidentally, Green Bay was missing Aaron Rodgers in that game too.

LINE HISTORY: Most shops opened with the Steelers favored by 13.5 points and then moved up to 14, although there were a few books that opened 14.5 and went down a half point. Either way, it appears to be settling on a two-touchdown spread. The total has gone up two points from 41.5 to 43.5.

TRENDS:

*Green Bay is 1-4 ATS in its last five games.
*Pittsburgh is 4-1 ATS in its last five games.

Preview: Canucks at RangersGracenote
Nov 26, 2017

The New York Rangers, who started the season with one victory in their first eight games, suddenly are one of the hottest teams in the league as they prepare to host the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday afternoon. The Rangers have won three straight contests and nine of their last 11 after grinding out a 2-1 overtime triumph over the Detroit Red Wings on Friday.

Henrik Lundqvist continued his strong run with 40 saves in his 11th straight start while Mats Zuccarello scored the overtime winner for New York, which has allowed just four goals in its last four games. The Rangers are getting balanced scoring, with six players recording at least 13 points, and they will need another big effort against surprising Vancouver, which saw its three-game point streak end Friday with a 3-2 loss at New Jersey. Canucks veteran forward Daniel Sedin needs just two points to become the 87th player in NHL history to reach 1,000 and has posted four in his last three contests. “When it happens, it happens,” Sedin told reporters. “With the role I have now with less minutes, you have to be sharp each night. You can’t look at those types of (records), it’ll ruin your game.”

TV: 2 p.m. ET, Sportsnet (Vancouver), MSG (New York)

ABOUT THE CANUCKS (11-9-3): Brock Boeser had his four-game goal-scoring streak snapped Friday after recording six during the run, but the rookie leads the team with 11 tallies and 22 points. Bo Horvat is tied for second on the club in points (17) with Sven Baertschi, who has collected two goals and two assists in his last four games, while Thomas Vanek (15) is next after posting six points in as many contests. Troy Stretcher (knee) returned to the lineup Friday after missing 14 games and fellow defenseman Chris Tanev (thumb) also was back after sitting out seven matches.

ABOUT THE RANGERS (12-9-2): Lundqvist (11-6-2, .918 save percentage) has not shown any signs of fatigue, allowing two goals over his last three contests - all victories - after stopping 40 shots in a 2-0 loss at Columbus on Nov. 17. “I feel great,” Lundqvist told reporters. “People talk to me about starting a lot of games, but physically, you never really get tired. It’s mentally. Right now, I’m in a nice flow where I don’t overthink things - so I feel rested.” Mika Zibanejad tops the team with 11 goals (three in his last five games) and 22 points - four more than Zuccarello.

OVERTIME

1. New York LW Chris Kreider has scored three goals in his last two games and is two shy of 100 in his career.

2. Vancouver D Alex Edler is slated to play in his 700th NHL contest on Sunday.

3. The teams split last season's two-game series, with the road team winning each contest, while the Canucks are 3-1-1 in the last five meetings.

Preview: Oilers at BruinsGracenote
Nov 25, 2017

Tuukka Rask will be back in the crease for the first time in 1 1/2 weeks when the Boston Bruins continue their three-game homestand Sunday against the Edmonton Oilers. Rask has not played since losing in Anaheim on Nov. 15, as backup Anton Khudobin started - and won - each of Boston's last four contests.

The 30-year-old Rask fell to 3-7-2 after allowing four goals against the Ducks - the same amount Khudobin surrendered over the next three games before the Bruins edged Pittsburgh 4-3 on Friday in the opener of their homestand. "It's his turn to go," Boston coach Bruce Cassidy told reporters regarding Rask. "We've gotten terrific goaltending out of (Khudobin). We'd like to get terrific goaltending out of Tuukka so everything could be terrific." Edmonton has lost three of the first four contests of its five-game road trip, including a 3-1 decision at Buffalo on Friday. The Oilers have dropped four of five overall and five of their last six away from home.

TV: 5 p.m. ET, NHL Network, Sportsnet, TVA (Edmonton), NESN (Boston)

ABOUT THE OILERS (8-13-2): Edmonton expects to have three players back in the lineup Sunday, including two that have been battling the flu. Defenseman Oscar Klefbom sat out the loss to the Sabres and goaltender Cam Talbot was relegated to serving as the backup due to the illness, while left wing Anton Slepyshev likely will return after missing seven games with a groin injury. Connor McDavid, who leads the team with 10 goals and 28 points, was kept off the scoresheet Friday after collecting a tally and five assists over his previous three contests.

ABOUT THE BRUINS (10-7-4): Brad Marchand will miss his sixth consecutive game due to an undisclosed injury, but Cassidy is hopeful the 29-year-old left wing will return Wednesday against Tampa Bay. Despite his lengthy absence, Marchand still ranks second on the team in both goals (eight) and points (15). Ryan Spooner notched an assist versus the Penguins in his second game back from a groin tear but missed Saturday's practice and will be a game-time decision.

OVERTIME

1. The Bruins are 1-for-28 on the power play over their last nine games and enter Sunday scoreless in their last 16 opportunities.

2. Edmonton has won five straight meetings with the Bruins after losing 13 in a row in the all-time series.

3. Boston recalled RW Jordan Szwarz on an emergency basis from Providence, as LW Peter Cehlarik is day-to-day with a leg injury, and assigned D Rob O'Gara to the American Hockey League club.

Preview: Heat at BullsGracenote
Nov 25, 2017

Things just keep getting worse for the Chicago Bulls, who own the worst record in the NBA and failed to notch a win on their just-completed road trip while finishing in embarrassing fashion. The Bulls will try to put the pieces together at home when they host the Miami Heat on Sunday.

Chicago was competitive in losses at the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers to begin the trip but suffered through a 110-80 loss at Utah on Wednesday before going into Golden State on Friday and getting run over by the defending champions in a 143-94 drubbing. "From day one, even going back into September, the biggest thing we talked about as a team was fighting through tough times and handling adversity," Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg told reporters. "We've seen this before where we put our heads down, we don't fight through it and we start separating and lose trust in each other. That can't continue to happen. If we don't learn that soon, we're going to keep getting our (butt) kicked." The Heat pulled off their best win of the season by ending the Boston Celtics' 16-game winning streak on Wednesday and avoided a letdown by going into Minnesota and toppling the Timberwolves 109-97 on Friday. Miami already has one win over the Bulls on the ledger this season and comes in solid on the defensive end after holding three of its last four opponents under 100 points.
TV: 3:30 p.m. ET, FSN Sun (Miami), WGN (Chicago)

ABOUT THE HEAT (9-9): The Heat held Minnesota to 44 percent shooting on Friday and did their own damage from beyond the arc as Goran Dragic, Justise Winslow and Wayne Ellington combined to go 13-of-19 from 3-point range. Ellington was 6-of-9 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and took all of his field-goal attempts from 3-point range for the third time in the last four contests. The 29-year-old shooting guard is knocking down 43 percent of his 3-point attempts on the season and hit at least six in a game three times in 2017-18, including two of the last three games.
ABOUT THE BULLS (3-14): Rookie power forward Lauri Markkanen leads Chicago in scoring (14.6 points) but is shooting just 36.5 percent from the floor over the last 10 games and is 9-of-42 over the last three contests. "Defenses are keying on him," Hoiberg said of Markkanen, according to the Chicago Tribune. "A lot of teams are switching with him. We have to read those situations better. We're adding new things to our offense pretty much daily to try to get him in spots where he can be successful." Point guard Jerian Grant, who lost his starting spot to Kris Dunn, led the Bulls with 21 points off the bench in Friday's loss.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Heat C Hassan Whiteside is shooting 76.5 percent from the field over the last four games but is questionable for this one due to knee soreness.

2. Bulls PG Zach LaVine (knee) began participating in full contact practices this week and could make his season debut in mid-December.

3. Miami took the last two meetings and six of the last eight, including a 97-91 triumph at home on Nov. 1.

Preview: Nets at GrizzliesGracenote
Nov 25, 2017

The Memphis Grizzlies are losers of seven in a row and failed to reach 95 points in any of the last four contests. The Grizzlies will try to turn things around against another struggling squad when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.

"It's like you plug one hole and spring another leak," Memphis coach David Fizdale told reporters after the latest loss -- a 104-92 setback at Denver. "You know, I thought we competed hard but there were just too many casual, mindless turnovers. I've got three guys with four turnovers. You just can't do that on the road, you can rarely get away with that at home." One of those players with four turnovers was point guard Mario Chalmers, who is filling in as the starter while Mike Conley deals with an Achilles injury that is expected to keep him out until next month. The Nets know all about point guard injuries with Jeremy Lin (knee) and D'Angelo Russell (knee) watching from the bench but are more concerned with issues on the defensive end at the moment. Brooklyn is surrendering an average of 121.3 points during a three-game slide and allowed the Portland Trail Blazers to shoot 50 percent from the floor in a 127-125 loss on Friday.
TV: 6 p.m. ET, FSN Southeast (Memphis), YES (Brooklyn)

ABOUT THE NETS (6-12): Brooklyn had a chance in the fourth quarter in each of its last three games - losses to the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers and Trail Blazers - but could not make the necessary plays down the stretch. "I think that the hardest thing in the NBA is to close games," Nets coach Kenny Atkinson told reporters. "We saw it the other night in Cleveland; played really well for three quarters and then. ... There are great players on these other teams that are determined not to let you win, and I think that was a little bit the case (against Portland). They relied on their experience. But it's also a positive experience for us. We can look at this and say, 'How can we close games? What can we do better?'" One thing Brooklyn could do better is defend without fouling, and it is sending opponents to the line an average of 25.9 times per game.
ABOUT THE GRIZZLIES (7-11): The bright spot for Memphis continues to be center Marc Gasol, who showed off his wide range of skills with a career-high 14 assists on Friday. "You just have to find a way to win," Gasol told reporters. "You have to find a way to do what we are supposed to do and help our teammates. We cannot take things upon (ourselves) because it's hard to figure out sometimes, but we have to do it as a team." Gasol is trying to get his teammates involved while struggling with his own shot and is 23-of-65 from the floor over the last four games.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Nets SF Rondae Hollis-Jefferson scored at least 16 points in three straight games and five of the last six.

2. Grizzlies PF Brandan Wright (groin) sat out the last three games and remains day-to-day.

3. Memphis won in its last three trips to Brooklyn.

PREDICTION: Grizzlies 102, Nets 100

Playoff Results | Grey Cup History

TD Place Stadium in Ottawa is the site of this year’s CFL Grey Cup Championship between the East Division’s Toronto Argonauts and the West’s Calgary Stampeders. Kickoff this Sunday is set for 6:00 p.m. (ET) with ESPN2 carrying the national broadcast in the United States.

Toronto punched its first ticket to the title game since 2012 with Sunday’s 25-21 victory against Saskatchewan, which was a crossover playoff team from the West. The Argonauts covered as three-point home favorites with the total staying UNDER the 52-point closing line.

Calgary is making its second-straight appearance in the Grey Cup with a 32-28 victory at home against Edmonton, but it could not cover as a five-point favorite. The total went OVER the 51 ½-point line in that game.

Sunday, Nov. 26

Toronto Argonauts (10-9 SU, 9-10 ATS) vs. Calgary Stampeders (14-4-1 SU, 9-9-1 ATS)
Point-spread: Calgary -7
Total: 53

Game Overview

The Argonauts started this season with just four straight-up victories in their first 11 games while going a costly 3-8 against the spread, but it is all about how you finish when it comes to winning championships. With last Sunday’s win and cover, Toronto is now 6-2 both SU and ATS in its last eight games. The total has gone OVER or ended as a PUSH in seven of those eight games.

One of the biggest reasons for this current run has been the play of veteran quarterback Ricky Ray and an offense that has averaged 31.9 points a game over the span of its last eight outings. Ray finished the regular season ranked second in the CFL in total passing yards (5,546) and he was tied for second in passing touchdowns with 28. In last Sunday’s win against Saskatchewan, he completed 71.8 percent of his 39 passing attempts for 266 yards and a score.

Calgary was by far the most dominant team in the league for most of the season in a run that included a SU 11-game win streak. This was also a great team to bet on during that run at 8-2-1 ATS. Unexpected poor play coupled with a number of key injuries on both sides of the ball led to a stunning three-game losing streak (SU and ATS) to close out the regular season. With last week’s tight victory, it has now failed to cover in its five games.

The Stampeders did enough to get past Edmonton in the division finals, but it is hard to say if they have returned to that dominant form heading into Sunday’s title game. The one good sign in last week’s victory was the play on offense. After posting a combined 32 points in that three-game losing streak, Calgary crossed the 30-point line in scoring for the first time since late September. Bo Levi Mitchell completed 20-of-32 passing attempts for 228 yards and a score, while the ground game added another 182 rushing yards to the winning cause.

Betting Trends

-- The Argonauts are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a SU winning record, but they improve to 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a SU win.

-- The Stampeders are 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a SU win, but they have failed to cover in four of their last five Grey Cup Championship Games. The total has gone OVER in their last four postseason games.

-- Calgary won both meetings this season SU by a combined 33 points to extend its current winning streak against Toronto to eight games. The Stampeders have covered ATS in their last five games against the Argonauts in this inter-division series and the total has stayed UNDER in four of the last six meetings.

Grey Cup betting betting preview and odds: Stampeders vs. Argonauts

Toronto is 16-6 in Grey Cup games while Calgary is 7-8, while the Stampeders won both regular season meetings with the Argonauts by an average margin of 16.5 points

Calgary Stampeders at Toronto Argonauts (+7, 53.5)

The Calgary Stampeders face the Toronto Argonauts in the 105th edition of the Grey Cup on Sunday in Ottawa. The Stampeders finished the regular season with a league-best 13 victories before downing the Edmonton Eskimos 32-28 victory in the Western Final, and hope to take care of unfinished business after dropping a 39-33 overtime decision to the Ottawa Redblacks as double-digit favourites in the title game last year.

"It was like a nightmare and I had to deal with it for a long time after that," Calgary running back Jerome Messam told reporters. "It's a sucky feeling as you work all season and offseason for it and it was right there for us but we let it slip away." The Argonauts won their last two regular-season games to clinch their first division title in four years before knocking off the Saskatchewan Roughriders 25-21 in the Eastern Final only one year removed from a 5-13 record. Coach Marc Trestman and Ricky Ray have been the architects of the stunning turnaround and the veteran quarterback hopes to put the finishing touches on an incredible season by winning the Grey Cup for the fourth time in his career. "I know what the week is all about and how to balance your time," Ray told reporters. "I can draw off that experience… there's a lot of stuff happening that is different than regular season games."
