RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 11 ZOEY D 10/1

# 6 AD LUTEM 10/1

# 7 ACID RAIN 8/1

My choice in this race is ZOEY D especially at a such a nice price. I think having Berrios ride this filly is a smart move. AD LUTEM - Ought to compete very well in the early speed contest which bodes well with this group of animals. With a very good 70 Equibase Speed Fig last time out, will unquestionably be a factor in this race. ACID RAIN - Must be given a chance here on the basis of the figures in the speed department alone. With a nice class rating average of 86, has one of the top class advantages in this group of animals.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 5 BOBBY MAGIC 5/2

# 2 THORNINMYSIDE 3/1

# 1 LANEY'S GOLD 7/2

BOBBY MAGIC has a very good shot to take this race. Could provide positive dividends based on very good recent Equibase speed figs with an average of 76. Should be given a chance based on the solid Equibase Speed Figure put up in the last outing. With a nice Equibase class rating average of 81, has one of the best class advantages in this group of horses in this race. THORNINMYSIDE - Has been racing solidly and has among the best speed in the race for today's distance. Will likely be one of the early speedsters of the group going into the halfway point of the race. LANEY'S GOLD - Has been running solidly lately and will most likely be close to the front end early on.

Parx Racing - Race #4 - Post: 1:46pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $24,000 Class Rating: 65

Rating: 4

#4 BILLY'S JUMP START (ML=8/1)
#6 ESKIMO PRINCESS (ML=8/1)

BILLY'S JUMP START - Rider hops up on after getting to know the horse by riding in the last race. That's always a great angle. Based on this filly's recent efforts, she should profit from this shorter trip. Horse's last race was at Parx Racing in a race with a class figure of 71. Dropping considerably in class rating this time puts her in a solid position today. ESKIMO PRINCESS - Rider jumped on this filly's back for the 1st attempt on November 12th. Should be in tune with the horse even better this race. This filly likes to be near the lead. Today's event is a shorter distance and should enhance her chances to win. I usually like playing sprinters who are 3-4 races into a come back.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 AWESOME MAGIC (ML=5/2), #11 HELLO MOON (ML=5/1), #10 SISTER WENDY (ML=6/1),

AWESOME MAGIC - Can't wager on this horse in today's sprint of 6 furlongs. Hasn't even hit the board in a sprint race recently. I usually try to beat these types of chalk off the extended vacation. HELLO MOON - You believe this horse is going to be victorious just because she's always close. Just doesn't win often. SISTER WENDY - Notched a substandard fig last race out in a $15,000 Maiden Claiming race on November 26th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that figure.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - BILLY'S JUMP START - Love the latest bullet workout. Should perform well today.

#2 VALIANT DEPUTY (ML=5/2)

VALIANT DEPUTY - Looking at the information on all of these ponies, this is the only one to stalk. Worth a long hard look at this thoroughbred. I like the hard fact that this gelding's last speed fig, 65, is tops in this bunch.

Vulnerable Contenders: #4 HIGH BANNER (ML=3/1), #3 Y O L O CAT (ML=7/2), #5 SPECTACULAR ONE (ML=6/1),

HIGH BANNER - This runner ran a somewhat easily forgotten speed figure last time around the track. He shouldn't improve and will probably lose today running that fig. Y O L O CAT - Would have to get better off that seventh place finish last time to make an impact here. SPECTACULAR ONE - Notched a substandard speed figure last time out in a $5,000 Maiden Claiming race on November 28th. Doubtful to see an improved performance off of that rating.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - VALIANT DEPUTY - Taking a very big class figure tumble today. Let's make some money on the big drop.

Preview: Suns at RaptorsGracenote
Dec 5, 2017

The Toronto Raptors aim to match their season-best four-game winning streak when they host the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. Toronto, which won four in a row in mid-November, is averaging 119.3 points during the current three-game stretch.

The Suns are looking to break even on a six-game road trip and received 46 points from star shooting guard Devin Booker in Monday's 115-101 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. The 21-year-old Booker connected on five 3-pointers and was 17-of-32 from the field while establishing a season best for points (his career high is 70). "He gets that look," Suns coach Jay Triano told reporters afterward, "and it doesn't matter how closely you guard him, it doesn't matter who guards him - he just finds a way to create space and be electric." Toronto is a stellar 8-1 at home and hasn't played since Friday as it enters the finale of three straight at the Air Canada Centre.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, NBATV, FSN Arizona (Phoenix), Sportsnet One (Toronto)

ABOUT THE SUNS (9-16): Booker is averaging 34.8 points over his past four games and his latest superb effort occurred after he was awful in the early part of the contest. Booker missed nine of his first 10 shots before reversing course by knocking down 16 of his final 22 attempts and said afterward his focus is on seeing improvement. "I know there's more things I have to work on," Booker told reporters. "Turn around this franchise, start to get wins and make the playoffs. Whatever I have to do to do that, I'm with it."

ABOUT THE RAPTORS (14-7): Second-year center Jakob Poeltl missed Monday's practice but Toronto hopes to have the 7-footer after his terrific performance in the club's last game. Poeltl flashed his potential with a career-high 18 points on 8-of-8 shooting in Friday's 120-115 victory over the Indiana Pacers - the best showing of his young career. "I've been working it a lot, on my finishing, and I think it's paying off," Poeltl told reporters. "And obviously, there's not a lot of defensive focus on me, so I'm trying to use that space to finish."

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Suns won both of last season's meetings and also hold a stellar 14-6 mark when visiting Toronto.

2. Toronto standout SG DeMar DeRozan is averaging 28 points over the past two games after scoring a season-low two in Saturday's rout of the Atlanta Hawks.

3. Phoenix PG Tyler Ulis had 12 points and 12 assists against the 76ers for his first double-double of the season.

Preview: Jazz at ThunderGracenote
Dec 5, 2017

The Utah Jazz attempt to increase their season-best winning streak to seven games when they visit the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday. Utah steamrolled the Washington Wizards 116-69 on Monday and has won by an average of 24 points during its impressive victory stretch.

The Jazz matched the NBA season best for fewest points allowed and held the Wizards to 28.2 percent from the field - second lowest in the NBA - en route to the landslide victory. "I think we came out with the right mindset defensively, and when you do that, the offense is much easier. "Utah coach Quin Snyder said afterward. "I think our players are playing the right way." Oklahoma City, which is looking to beat the Jazz at home for the 12th consecutive time, has never settled in despite the offseason acquisitions of forwards Carmelo Anthony and Paul George, but is showing life with consecutive victories over the Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs. "There is a lot more trust being built," George told reporters. "We have been in the battles, and we have been on the losing end. Certain stuff is not working, and you tinker stuff and work on stuff and figure out ways to win."

TV: 8 p.m. ET, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain (Utah), FSN Oklahoma

ABOUT THE JAZZ (13-11): Standout center Rudy Gobert returned after an 11-game absence because of a leg injury and contributed 10 rebounds and two blocked shots in only 21 minutes against the Wizards. Gobert noted that the first five victories of the winning streak occurred while he was in street clothes. "Maybe the fact I went down made everyone come together and be more of a team," Gobert said after the victory. "Everyone is moving the ball and everyone is getting open shots and it's fun."

ABOUT THE THUNDER (10-12): Oklahoma City's back-to-back victories occurred with center Steven Adams averaging 23 points and Anthony averaging only nine while scoring in single digits in consecutive games for the first time in his 15-year NBA career. "For me personally, it's just about doing something different, seeing where the team really needs me on a night-to-night basis," Anthony told reporters. "And just be willing to do that and being willing to sacrifice, not every night having to score 20 or 30 points, and I'm good with that. It's a good feeling as long as we're winning." Adams is 19-of-24 shooting during the stretch and scored a career-best 27 on 11-of-11 shooting in Friday's victory over Minnesota.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Jazz defeated the Thunder 96-87 on Oct. 21 for their second victory in the past nine meetings.

2. Oklahoma City PG Russell Westbrook had 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in Sunday's victory over San Antonio for his seventh triple-double of the season.

3. Utah reserve SG Alec Burks scored 27 points against the Wizards and is averaging 26.3 points on 30-of-47 shooting over the past three games.

Preview: Wizards at Trail BlazersGracenote
Dec 5, 2017

The Washington Wizards attempt to bounce back from the second-worst loss in franchise history when they visit the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday. Washington matched the NBA season low for points scored in a 116-69 loss to the Utah Jazz and the 47-point margin of defeat trails only a 52-point loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Jan. 10, 1971 when the franchise was known as the Baltimore Bullets.

The Wizards shot 28.2 percent from the field - second lowest in the NBA this season - in a brutally bad performance in the opener of a five-game road trip. "They punched us and punched us again and punched us again," Washington coach Scott Brooks said afterward. "Surprisingly, we didn't fight back. One of the first times since I've been here we didn't play with fight." Portland has an issue of its own to deal with as coach Terry Stotts and star point guard Damian Lillard are perplexed with the club's lackluster 7-6 home record. "We need to be better," Stotts told reporters after consecutive home setbacks. "If we want to be the team that we want to be, we have to be better at home. There's no question."

TV: 10 p.m. ET, NBATV, NBCSN Washington, NBCSN Northwest (Portland)

ABOUT THE WIZARDS (12-11): Washington will be without star point guard John Wall (knee) for the sixth consecutive game and his absence has led to more double teams for Bradley Beal to contend with. The standout shooting guard has been limited to 11 or fewer points in three of the past four games - he had 11 on 4-of-15 shooting versus Utah - after scoring 22 or more in each of the previous six games. Beal has fared well against Portland by averaging 25.7 points over the past three meetings, making 11-of-23 from 3-point range during the stretch.

ABOUT THE TRAIL BLAZERS (13-10): Portland has traditionally been a strong team on the home court but losses to the Milwaukee Bucks and New Orleans Pelicans left everybody searching for answers. Shooting guard CJ McCollum, who is averaging 30 points over his last two outings against the Wizards, took it deeper and pointed out that the club's inconsistent nature isn't limited to home contests. "We've just got to execute a little bit better, I think that's the bottom line," McCollum told reporters. "I don't have a recipe for why we're losing or why we're winning, I think it's just been up and down and that's how we've been this year. So we've got to figure it out."

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Trail Blazers scored the game's final 10 points while posting a 108-105 road victory over the Wizards on Nov. 25.

2. Lillard is averaging 31.3 points, seven assists and 5.3 rebounds over his last four games against Washington.

3. Wizards SF Otto Porter Jr. is averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds over the last two meetings with Portland.

PREDICTION: Trail Blazers 117, Wizards 106

Devils vs. Blue Jackets Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/04/2017

The top two teams in the Metropolitan Division will square off in a home-and-home set this week, beginning Tuesday night when the Columbus Blue Jackets host the New Jersey Devils. The Blue Jackets, who had won eight of nine prior to Saturday's 4-3 loss in Washington, hold a one-point lead over surprising New Jersey atop the Metropolitan.

The top six teams in the division are separated by five points, including two-time reigning Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh and Washington, the Presidents' Trophy winners the past two seasons. "First place to wild card is only separated by three or four points," Columbus forward Cam Atkinson said Saturday. "That's how strong our division is. It's always exciting playing those games." New Jersey owned the NHL's best road record before it was shellacked by Arizona 5-0 on Saturday after winning at Colorado 2-1 the previous night. The Devils have dropped their last three matchups against the Blue Jackets -- all in two-week span last March -- and were outscored 9-1 in that span.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, MSG-Plus (New Jersey), FSN Ohio (Columbus)

ABOUT THE DEVILS (15-7-4): In the second game since trading Adam Henrique to Anaheim in exchange for defenseman Sami Vatanen, coach John Hynes juggled his lines Saturday, elevating Marcus Johansson to the top line to take Taylor Hall's place on left wing. Hynes hinted at changes for Tuesday's game and addressed the role of forward Pavel Zacha, a healthy scratch Saturday. "We kind of have the same discussion every day about Pav," Hynes said. "It doesn't change. There needs to be consistent compete and (a) tougher player to play against."

ABOUT THE BLUE JACKETS (17-9-1): Rookie center Pierre-Luc Dubois collected two assists Saturday and continues to thrive on the team's No. 1 line with Artemi Panarin and Josh Anderson, which accounted for half the team's 24 scoring chances at Washington, according to coach John Tortorella. "It's working right now. They just feel it, and we're hoping some of that rubs off on some of our other guys," Tortorella said of his "French Bread" unit. Columbus sits atop the division despite a wretched power play that ranks last in the NHL (7 of 75).

OVERTIME

1. Columbus has won five in a row at home.

2. Devils G Cory Schneider is 10-8-2 with a 2.26 goals-against average versus the Blue Jackets.

3. Columbus Ds Ryan Murray and Markus Nutivaara were not at practice Monday.

Jets vs. Red Wings Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/04/2017

The red-hot Winnipeg Jets have climbed to the top of the Western Conference with at least a point in four straight and look to enhance their position when they visit the plummeting Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night. The Jets have a one-point lead atop the West after going 9-2-1 in their last 12 outings and scoring 21 goals while going 3-0-1 in the last four after Sunday's dominant 5-0 triumph against Ottawa.

"It's incredible the way we're clicking right now and the confidence in this room. It's fun to watch," Winnipeg goalie Connor Hellebuyck told reporters after improving to 15-2-3 with 21 saves Sunday. ". ... When one guy is feeling it, you can see it go through the locker room. That's what we have in here now." Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele have combined for 19 points (five goals) in the last four games and could pad those statistics against the Red Wings, who have allowed 24 goals in their past four contests. Detroit has dropped seven straight games (0-4-3) after an embarrassing 10-1 loss at Montreal on Saturday. "Character comes shining through when moments are at their toughest, so we have to decide through our character that we are going to be way better than this," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill told the Detroit Free Press. "As I said to the guys in-between periods, we have the group to do it. We have the group to be good enough."

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, TSN3 (Winnipeg), FSN Detroit

ABOUT THE JETS (17-6-4): Wheeler boasts two goals and eight assists while Scheifele has scored three times and set up six others in the last four games to give the duo 35 and 34 points, respectively, overall. Winnipeg's power play stepped up the last two games, converting six of their 10 opportunities and entered Monday second in the NHL behind Tampa Bay at 27.4 percent overall. "The power play is definitely something that's been awesome for us," Scheifele told reporters. "We just got to keep it going and continue to learn. There's still things we can fix. ... I think we need to keep that mentality to not be complacent."

ABOUT THE RED WINGS (10-12-5): Detroit allowed only five of the 24 goals in the last four games on the power play and have not given much chance to their goalies as starter Jimmy Howard let 15 get past him in his last three outings. The Red Wings are averaging only two goals during their losing streak and started the week 27th in the league in scoring (2.67) despite being sixth with the man advantage (22.9). Dylan Larkin tops the team with 23 points, but has not scored a goal in seven games, while Anthony Mantha is next with 22 to go along with a team-high 12 goals and defenseman Mike Green is third with 18 points.

OVERTIME

1. Detroit F Tomas Tatar is second on the team with eight goals and needs one assist to reach 100 in his career.

2. Winnipeg F Bryan Little is slated to play his 700th NHL game Tuesday and will take a four-game point streak into that contest.

3. The Red Wings dealt F Scott Wilson to Buffalo on Monday for a fifth-round pick in the 2019 draft.

Blues vs. Canadiens Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/04/2017

It's no surprise that the return of star netminder Carey Price helped to reverse the sagging fortunes of the Montreal Canadiens, who have yet to lose since the former Vezina Trophy winner rejoined the lineup. The surging Canadiens go for their sixth consecutive victory when they host the slumping St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night.

Not only did Price end his team's five-game skid in his first appearance since sitting out three weeks due to a lower-body injury, he is having an effect at the other end of the ice. Montreal scored eight goals during the five-game losing streak but erupted for 16 in a home-and-home sweep of Detroit, including a 10-1 demolition on Saturday. The Blues sported the best record in the Western Conference for much of the early season but dropped their third in a row with Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss at Minnesota. St. Louis has produced only four goals during the three-game skid, but it has won three in a row and eight of its last 11 against the Canadiens.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, FSN Midwest (St. Louis), RDS, TSN2 (Montreal)

ABOUT THE BLUES (17-8-2): One glimmer of optimism for St. Louis is that half of the four goals during the current slide have come from Patrik Berglund, who also registered seven shots on net in Saturday's loss -- his third game since returning from offseason surgery. "It's not easy to miss 20 games, step in and play well," defenseman Alex Pietrangelo said of Berglund. "He's had an impact." Star forward Vladimir Tarasenko has not scored in his last five games and has one tally in eight games versus the Canadiens.

ABOUT THE CANADIENS (13-12-3): Price has won all five starts since his return and on Monday was named the NHL's Second Star of the Week after posting a 4-0-0 mark with a 1.50 goals-against average and .950 save percentage. "You're not going to score 10 every night," forward Paul Byron said after recording a hat trick in Saturday's romp, "but if we focus on not giving up goals, with Carey in net, I think we have a chance to win every time we play." Price last faced St. Louis on Oct. 20, 2015 -- a 38-save shutout at home.

OVERTIME

1. Montreal C Jonathan Drouin (lower body) skated on his own Monday and is expected to miss his third straight game.

2. St. Louis has split its last eight games despite outshooting the opposition in each -- by an aggregate of 87 shots.

3. Canadiens F Jacob De La Rose has four points in his last two games after failing to hit the scoresheet in his first 17 games.

Islanders vs. Lightning Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/04/2017

Some reshuffled forward lines and the comfort of home added a spark for the Tampa Bay Lightning last time out, and they hope to build off that when hosting the New York Islanders on Tuesday. The Lightning snapped out of a 2-4-0 mini-slump Saturday as they registered 43 shots during a 5-2 victory over San Jose in which each of their top three lines contributed at least one goal.

Nikita Kucherov moved onto the line with center Brayden Point and Ondrej Palat and tallied twice while Tyler Johnson was switched from third-line center to right wing with captain Steven Stamkos and Vladislav Namestnikov and scored a pair of goals. "You can always go back to the Stammer-Kuch-Vladdy line, but right now, I think it's good we switch lines, and we got a little life," Palat told reporters after notching two assists on Saturday. The Islanders will present a good test as they have earned at least one point in five of their last six games (4-1-1) after grinding out a 5-4 shootout victory at Florida on Monday. Anders Lee extended his goal-scoring streak to four games with his fifth tally in that span and captain John Tavares netted his team-leading 17th as New York won for the fifth time in its last six on the road.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, TVA, MSG Plus2 (New York), FSN Sun (Tampa Bay)

ABOUT THE ISLANDERS (16-8-2): Josh Bailey notched an assist in Monday's victory and leads the team with 31 points, including 13 in his last nine games, and Tavares is just one behind his linemate. Lee's goal against Florida was his 100th in the NHL and defenseman Nick Leddy notched an assist to give him 12 points in his last 10 contests while Josh Ho-Sang helped set up a pair of tallies to give him six points in as many games. Thomas Greiss sat out Monday's win and will likely get the start after making 36 saves against Tampa Bay in mid-November to improve to 4-2-0 lifetime versus the Lightning.

ABOUT THE LIGHTNING (18-6-2): Johnson's two tallies snapped a 15-game goal-scoring drought during which he posted a minus-5 rating and registered 24 shots. "That's how hockey goes," Johnson told reporters. "Sometimes you get the chances and the bounces don't go your way, and other times you kind of get those garbage goals that find a way to go in. Lucky for me, I was able to find a way to break through." Yanni Gourde - who previously had played right wing on a line with Point and Palat - moved to center on Saturday between Alex Killorn and Cory Conacher, who scored off assists from his two linemates in the third period.

OVERTIME

1. The Islanders posted a 5-3 road victory on Nov. 18 to snap a seven-game losing streak - including playoffs - against the Lightning.

2. Tampa Bay C Cedric Paquette is eligible to return Tuesday after serving a one-game suspension for an illegal hit.

3. New York failed to record a power-play goal Monday for just the second time in its last nine contests.

PREDICTION: Lightning 4, Islanders 2

Rangers vs. Penguins Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/05/2017

Sidney Crosby has freed himself from the shackles of a rare offensive slump in a big way, answering one goal in 15 contests with six tallies spread over five consecutive multi-point performances. The two-time Hart Trophy winner recipient carries an overall six-game point streak into Tuesday's contest as the Pittsburgh Penguins host the New York Rangers at PPG Paints Arena.

"When he plays that way, I think his energy, his compete level, trickles down the bench. That's the influence he has on our team," Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. "As a result, I think we're getting a more complete game, a more competitive game throughout our lineup when Sid's on his game the way he is right now." Crosby scored and set up a goal as Pittsburgh posted its season-high fourth straight win in a 5-1 rout of Buffalo, and also tallied with 56 seconds remaining in regulation of a 5-4 overtime victory versus the Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 17. New York, which skated to a 5-1 rout of Carolina on Friday, has outscored the opposition 24-11 en route to winning five of its last six games. Michael Grabner, who will play in his 500th career game on Tuesday, collected his fifth career hat trick in that encounter and also tallied in the first meeting versus Pittsburgh.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, Sportsnet, MSG (New York), AT&TSportsnet-Pittsburgh

ABOUT THE RANGERS (14-10-2): J.T. Miller grew up as a Penguins fan while living in East Palestine, Ohio, but the 24-year-old readily took it out in his childhood favorite team with a goal and two assists in the first encounter. Miller has answered a five-game point drought by scoring a goal and setting up three others in his last five. David Desharnais has erupted for four goals and an assist in his last three outings versus Pittsburgh and has 11 points (five goals, six assists) in his last 13 encounters with the club.

ABOUT THE PENGUINS (15-10-3): Evgeni Malkin set up three goals before scoring 58 seconds into overtime in the first encounter versus New York. Malkin joined Phil Kessel, Patric Hornqvist and former Ranger Carl Hagelin in scoring both versus New York as well as the last contest against Buffalo. The offense has been welcomed by Tristan Jarry, who has stepped in for the injured Matt Murray and stopped 107 of 112 shots during his four-game win streak.

OVERTIME

1. New York G Henrik Lundqvist has started each of his last 14 games, winning an NHL-best 11 to go along with a .927 save percentage in that stretch.

2. Kessel scored a goal and set up two others in the first meeting with the Rangers and has 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists) in 40 career meetings.

3. New York RW Mats Zuccarello has recorded 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in his last 14 contests.

Predators vs. Stars Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/05/2017

The Dallas Stars attempt to extend their season-high winning streak to six games Tuesday as they host the Central Division-rival Nashville Predators. Dallas, which will be playing for the fifth time in eight days, is coming off a dominant 7-2 victory at Colorado on Sunday.

Tyler Seguin and Brett Ritchie each scored twice as the Stars avenged their most recent loss - a 3-0 setback on Nov. 22, also in Colorado. Seguin leads Dallas with 14 goals and 27 points - 10 of which have come in his last eight contests. Nashville scored the first four goals Monday before withstanding a comeback attempt and posting a 5-3 triumph over Boston to conclude a 3-1-0 homestand and improve to 12-2-1 in its last 15 overall contests. Craig Smith netted a pair of tallies to climb within one of his 2016-17 total of 12 and join team leader Filip Forsberg (14) as the only players to reach double digits in goals thus far for the Predators, who had their streak of 13 straight home games with a power-play tally to start the season come to an end.

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, FSN Tennessee (Nashville), FSN Southwest (Dallas)

ABOUT THE PREDATORS (17-7-3): Forsberg also tops the club with 28 points and has notched at least one in 11 of his last 12 games. Nashville defeated the Bruins without Ryan Johansen, who exited Saturday's win over Anaheim with an upper-body injury and is listed as day-to-day. Defenseman Yannick Weber (lower body) returned to the lineup Monday after missing 10 contests and saw 10 minutes, 47 seconds of ice time on 20 shifts.

ABOUT THE STARS (16-10-1): Radek Faksa is riding a four-game point streak during which he has collected five goals and two assists while posting a plus-7 rating. The 23-year-old Czech was named the NHL's Third Star of the Week for his efforts, which included his first career hat trick in last Tuesday's 3-0 triumph at Vegas. Captain Jamie Benn is second on the team with 11 goals but is mired in a seven-game drought.

OVERTIME

1. The Stars have won three straight against division rivals to improve to 4-6-0 versus the Central.

2. Nashville LW Kevin Fiala has scored in back-to-back games to match his total from the first 24 contests this season.

3. Dallas assigned C Jason Dickinson to Texas of the American Hockey League on Monday.

Sabres vs. Avalanche Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/05/2017

The Colorado Avalanche were as far removed from the playoffs as a team could be last season, but give forward Mikko Rantanen credit for keeping his eyes on the prize this time around. With his team struggling, Rantanen raised the bar with his comments as the Avalanche conclude their five-game homestand against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.

"I think you have to look at it like a must-win; it's like a playoff game for us," Rantanen said. "It's a five-game homestand, we are 1-3 right now. We have to win the last game. Everybody needs to get ready and make sure we are out battling the opponent on (Tuesday)." The 21-year-old Finn has come to play at Pepsi Center, scoring a goal in Sunday's 7-2 loss to Dallas to give him 17 of his 21 points at home. Buffalo hasn't been picking up many points of late, losing for the fourth consecutive time and 11th in 12 outings with a 5-1 setback to Pittsburgh on Saturday. Jason Pominville scored the Sabres' first goal since Nov. 24 and his first since Oct. 28 in the loss to the Penguins.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, MSG-B (Buffalo), Altitude (Colorado)

ABOUT THE SABRES (6-17-4): Buffalo placed Matt Moulson on waivers Monday, with the struggling forward to be assigned to Rochester of the American Hockey League should he go unclaimed. "We talked quite a bit throughout the last two weeks," coach Phil Housley told The Buffalo News on Monday. "Just the direction that our team's going, we have to make roster spots and try to push some other buttons and try to get some internal competition within our team." The Sabres didn't stand pat on just that one move as they reached out to the Americans and recalled forward Evan Rodrigues, who has five goals and as many assists in eight games.

ABOUT THE AVALANCHE (12-11-2): Colin Wilson is expected to return to the lineup following a three-game absence with a lower-body injury, coach Jared Bednar said after Monday's practice. "I like to get him in the lineup more so we can keep building and getting a little more offense out of him," Bednar said. "It's hard to count on him to do that when he is in and out with these nagging injuries all the time. I think the best has yet to come for Wilson, but I really like what he's been doing for our team." Patrik Nemeth, who was also a full-time participant in Monday's practice, is expected to return from a lengthy absence due to an unspecified lower-body injury during the team's upcoming four-game road trip.

OVERTIME

1. Buffalo C Sam Reinhart scored in both encounters versus Colorado last season, but has been held off the scoresheet in each of his last five games overall.

2. Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog will serve the final contest of his four-game suspension on Tuesday.

3. The Sabres rank last in the league in goals scored (2.1) and goals against (3.4) while their power-play efficiency (11.6) is 30th in the NHL.

Ducks vs. Golden Knights Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/04/2017

Having already made history less than two months into their first season, the Vegas Golden Knights look to continue their success at home when they host the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night. The Golden Knights became the first expansion team to win 10 of their first 12 games on home ice following Sunday's 3-2 overtime victory over the Arizona Coyotes.

Vegas has built that impressive mark partly on its success in extra time -- the team is 5-0-1 overall beyond regulation and 4-0 at home in overtime. "We've got some good skill players, and they're quick players," Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant said of overtime prowess. "I think when there's open ice, we're a pretty good team with that so far." There is no good time to visit T-Mobile Arena and that holds especially true for Anaheim, which is making the final stop on its six-game road trip. The Ducks have dropped six of their last seven overall (1-4-2), a slide which started with a 4-2 loss to visiting Vegas on Nov. 22.

TV: 10 p.m. ET, Sportsnet1, Prime Ticket (Anaheim), AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain (Vegas)

ABOUT THE DUCKS (11-11-5): Newly acquired Adam Henrique didn't take long to score his first goal with Anaheim, only to see Saturday's tally at Nashville credited to Corey Perry on Monday as a result of a league scoring change. A more notable change is the potential return of leading goal scorer Rickard Rakell (upper body), who skated on a line with Henrique and Perry at practice Monday after sitting out the past five games. Jakob Silfverberg (upper body) will miss his third straight game but could return Wednesday versus Ottawa.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS (16-9-1): Jonathan Marchessault, who went from seven goals with Tampa Bay in 2015-16 to 30 tallies with Florida last season, is showing that production was no fluke. He scored a goal and set up the game-winning tally in Sunday's win to give him six goals and nine assists over the past nine games, tying him with William Karlsson for the team lead with 25 points. "He's a guy who takes advantage of his opportunities," Gallant said of Marchessault, who had a goal and two assists at Anaheim last month.

OVERTIME

1. Anaheim has surrendered 10 power-play goals over the past nine games.

2. Karlsson also is on a team for Vegas with eight goals and five assists over the past nine games.

3. The Ducks rank 28th in the league in scoring and have not tallied more than three goals in their last nine games.

PREDICTION: Golden Knights 4, Ducks 3

Hurricanes vs. Canucks Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/04/2017

The Carolina Hurricanes hope to put together a winning streak as they begin a season-high six-game road trip Tuesday against the Vancouver Canucks. Carolina had lost four of five before posting a 3-2 overtime victory over Florida at home on Saturday.

Jeff Skinner ended an eight-game drought by scoring his team-leading 10th goal and defenseman Noah Hanifin tallied at 4:58 of the extra session for the Hurricanes, who have dropped their last two on the road (0-1-1). Vancouver continues a three-game homestand that began Saturday with a 2-1 triumph over Toronto. Jacob Markstrom came within 2:52 of his first career shutout while Daniel Sedin notched an assist one game after registering three points to eclipse 1,000 for his career. Captain Henrik Sedin also set up a goal, giving him at least one assist in six of his last seven contests.

TV: 10 p.m. ET, FSN Carolinas, Sportsnet Pacific (Vancouver)

ABOUT THE HURRICANES (11-9-5): Cam Ward's start Saturday was his fourth in 11 games, as the 33-year-old former Conn Smythe Trophy winner has been relegated to the backup goaltending role behind Scott Darling. "It's something I'm adjusting to, the mentality of not playing as much," Ward, whose next victory will be his 300th in the NHL, told reporters after defeating the Maple Leafs. "I've been in this league long enough that I can turn the page." Teuvo Teravainen and Sebastian Aho each notched an assist Saturday, ending their respective three- and four-game point droughts.

ABOUT THE CANUCKS (13-10-4): Brock Boeser is making an early case for the Calder Trophy as he leads the team in goals (13) and points (25). The 20-year-old right wing ended November with a three-point performance against Nashville on Thursday, including his 10th and 11th goals of the 30-day period - making him the second rookie in franchise history (Pavel Bure, 12 in March 1992) to reach double digits in tallies in a calendar month and earning him the NHL's Rookie of the Month honors. Markus Granlund, who scored a career-high 19 goals last season, netted his fourth of 2017-18 - and first in seven games - Saturday.

OVERTIME

1. Henrik Sedin has notched nine assists during his current surge and is three away of 800 for his career.

2. Carolina D Justin Faulk has recorded only seven points in 25 games this season and is stuck on 199 in the NHL after being kept off the scoresheet in each of his last four games.

3. Vancouver D Michael Del Zotto needs two points for 200 in his career but enters Tuesday with a five-game drought.

Wild vs. Kings Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/05/2017

The Los Angeles Kings rebounded from a disastrous stretch of losses in seven of eight games (1-6-1) with victories in five straight contests. The Pacific Division-leading Kings look to extend their season-high win streak on Tuesday when they open a three-game homestand against the Minnesota Wild.

Los Angeles' calling card has long been its defense, and Jonathan Quick continued his stellar play after turning aside 24 shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over Chicago. The 2012 Conn Smythe Trophy recipient is 4-0-0 with a 1.23 goals-against average and .952 save percentage during the win streak, but didn't fare as well in 5-4 overtime loss at Minnesota on Feb. 27. Devan Dubnyk, who picked up the win in that outing to improve to 7-4-1 in his career versus the Kings, has answered a rough patch with back-to-back strong performances. The 31-year-old Saskatchewan native made 29 saves in a 4-2 victory versus Vegas on Thursday before turning aside 41 shots two nights later in a 2-1 overtime win against St. Louis.

TV: 10 p.m. ET, NBCSN

ABOUT THE WILD (13-10-3): Defenseman Matt Dumba once again has been contributing offensively with four points in his last four games after setting career highs in goals (11), assists (23), points (34) and plus-minus (plus-15) last season. The 23-year-old Saskatchewan native set up the game-winning goal versus the Blues after his slap shot glanced off Vegas defenseman Deryk Engelland in front of the net to set up Eric Staal's rebound before using his considerable speed to give Minnesota its second straight win. "Matt looked like he was shot out of a cannon when he picked up the puck," coach Bruce Boudreau said after Dumba scored 39 seconds into overtime versus the Blues.

ABOUT THE KINGS (17-8-3): While captain Anze Kopitar has scored in back-to-back contests and owns a three-game point streak (three goals, two assists), the 30-year-old Slovene appeared happier to talk about the team's defensive plan against the Blackhawks as opposed to his offensive surge. "Try to block shots, as many as you can, take away lanes because they have a lot of guys that can make some pretty tight passes," Kopitar said. "So, I thought we obviously did a good job." The dedication to defense has shown itself on the team's top-ranked penalty kill (89.5 percent) as Los Angeles has thwarted 15 of 16 opportunities during its win streak.

OVERTIME

1. Minnesota LW Jason Zucker has recorded at least a point in 12 of his last 14 games (10 goals, five assists), including in each of his last six (two goals, four assists)

2. Los Angeles RW Dustin Brown has scored three times in his last five contests, giving him 11 goals already this season after mustering 14 over 80 games in 2016-17.

3. The Wild are 5-0-2 in their last seven games versus the Kings.

Tuesday, December 5

Michigan State won its last four games, by 20-18-18-29 points, over UConn, UNC, Notre Dame and Nebraska; Spartans have a parade of six cupcakes after this game for rest of the month, it figures they’ll bear down here to go 2-0 in league. Rutgers was 6-0 against stiffs, then lost its last two games, by 5 to Florida, by 22 at Minnesota. Scarlet Knights’ eFG% is 8th-worst in country- they’re shooting 28.3% on arc, 42.4% inside arc. MSU is 4-0 vs Rutgers in Big 14 play, winning 71-51/97-66 in its two visits to the Garden State.

Shaka Smart returns to VCU with his Texas Longhorns, who are 5-2, with OT losses to both Duke, Gonzaga out in Oregon. Longhorns have #16 eFG% defense, but they’re shooting only 27.2% on arc, 62% on foul line- they’re #340 experience team. VCU is #197 experience team that is 5-3 with yet another new coach; Rams are 1-3 vs top 100 teams, losing by 8-11-9 points to Virginia-Marquette-Michigan. VCU’s only top 100 win was by 7 over Old Dominion. Big X favorites are 10-11 vs spread away from home; A-14 home underdogs are 2-5.

West Virginia won 66-57 at Virginia LY, after losing by 16 to Cavaliers the year before on a neutral floor. Mountaineers won last seven games since losing to Texas A&M over in Germany in their season opener. WVU is forcing turnovers 29.2% of time- they’re #231 experience team. Virginia is 8-0 with four top 100 wins, best of which were over Rhode Island/Wisconsin. UVa held its last five opponents to 55 or fewer points- their eFG% defense is 6th in country. Big X home favorites are 13-8 vs spread; ACC underdogs are 8-10.

Texas Tech coach Beard had UNLV job for about a week in spring of 2016, bolted for Lubbock instead; this is his first game vs Nevada, UNLV’s biggest rival. Red Raiders are 6-1 after losing by 10 in a semi-road game to Seton Hall in MSG Thursday. Tech is #92 experience team whose bench plays 5th-most minutes in country. Nevada is 8-0 with four road wins and top 100 wins over Davidson, Rhode Island. Wolf Pack are making 43.1% of 3-pointers (#11). Big X home favorites are 13-8 vs spread; Mountain West road underdogs are 6-6.

UAB beat Troy State last two years, by 16-23 points; Blazers are 3-3 vs D-I teams, after going 0-3 on Cayman Islands, losing to Richmond, Buffalo, Iowa. This is Blazers’ first true road game this season- they’re experience team #132. Troy is 4-3 vs D-I teams, winning last three, by 8-31-21 points. Trojans are ##57 experience team that plays lot of guys (#48 in bench minutes); their only top 150 win was by 8 at East Tennessee St- they lost by 8 at Kentucky. Sun Belt home favorites are 3-5 against the spread; C-USA road underdogs are 9-8.

Butler won 68-59 at Utah LY, holding Utes to 3-20 on arc; Bulldogs were 7-0 at time- they’re 6-2 this season vs schedule #121 with a new coach- they’re 1-2 vs top 100 teams, losing to Maryland, Texas by double digits- they beat Ohio St in OT after trailing by 15 with 3:46 left. Utah is 6-1 with top 100 wins over Missouri/Ole Miss, but they got crushed by 27 at UNLV, going 2-20 on arc. Utah is #65 experience team that starts four seniors- their eFG% defense is #19 in country. Big East home favorites are 12-9 vs spread; Pac-12 underdogs are 10-8.

Nebraska is 6-3 after its 86-57 loss at Michigan St Sunday when Huskers shot 17.5% inside arc, 10-22 outside it. I’ve never seen a team shoot 18% inside the arc. Minnesota is 8-1 vs schedule #215; their only loss was at home to #14 Miami- they have top 40 wins over Providence and Alabama, with their win over the Friars their only true road game this season. Home side won last eight Minnesota-Nebraska games; Huskers won four of last six series games. Gophers lost their last four visits to Lincoln, by 2-4-3-25 points.

SMU won its last four games with local rival TCU by 15-5-8-3 points; Mustangs are #282 experience team that doesn’t sub much and plays pace #341, very slow. SMU is 7-2 after 72-55 home win over USC Saturday- they beat Arizona in Atlantis tourney but also lost to No Iowa, WKU there. Horned Frogs are 8-0 vs schedule #264; TCU has played six top 200 teams, but their only top 10 win is by 10 over #69 St Bonaventure on a neutral floor. Big X home favorites are 13-8 vs spread; AAC underdogs are 8-13 away from home.

South Dakota State is 7-3 vs schedule #66; they’ve beaten Ole Miss, Iowa- their losses are at Kansas by 34, by 12 to Wyoming, 20 to Missouri state, all top 100 teams. Jackrabbits are #44 experience team that is shooting 39% outside arc but only 45.4% inside arc. Wichita State is is 6-1 with only loss 67-66 to Notre Dame in Maui finals. Shockers are still missing McDuffie, one of their best players- their next two games are national level games, vs Oklahoma/Okla State. AAC home favorites are 7-8 vs spread; Summit League underdogs are 14-17.

Jimmy V Classic, Madison Square Garden
Gonzaga makes long trip east with #247 experience team and a 7-1 record, with only loss in double OT to Florida in PK80 semis. Zags have beaten Texas/Creighton since then; their eFG% is #9 in country, making 39.7% on arc. Villanova will have crowd edge; Wildcats are 8-0 with only top 80 win by 9 over Tennessee on Atlantis- they also beat Northern Iowa by 14. Big East favorites are 11-7 vs spread away from home; WCC underdogs are 5-14. Villanova is #301 experience team; only three of their first eight games were at home.

UConn is 6-2, but they needed OT to win each of last two games, vs Columbia/Monmouth. Huskies are a thin team- they’re 1-2 vs top 100 teams, beating Oregon in Portland, but then getting pasted by Arkansas/Michigan State in other two games there. Syracuse won its first six games before getting blasted by Kansas down in Florida Saturday. Orange’s best win was by hoop over Maryland at home. Syracuse is thin; they used two guys the whole 40:00 vs Kansas. ACC favorites are 18-9 vs spread away from home; AAC underdogs are 8-13 away from home.

Doubleheader at Talking Stick Arena, Phoenix
Texas A&M is 7-0 with four top 50 wins; they’ve been best team in country to this point, but beating Arizona in Phoenix will be tough. Aggies won by 16 at USC in only true road game- they’re beat West Va, Okla State, Penn St, all by double digits. A&M;s eFG% defense is #2 in country. Arizona gutted out OT win at UNLV Saturday night; three of their guys played 39:00+. Wildcats are #287 experience team that has legit NBA prospect in big guy Ayton. SEC favorites are 18-8 vs spread away from home; Pac-12 underdogs are 10-8.

St John’s is playing this game, then Arizona State in LA Friday; interesting road trip for Chris Mullin’s team. Johnnies are 7-1 vs schedule #245- they lost by 8 to Missouri down in Florida. Their best wins are over UCF, Oregon State. Check status of St John’s star LoVett, who missed their last game. Big East underdogs are 5-8 vs spread this season. Grand Canyon is 5-1 vs the 2nd-easiest schedule in country so far; best team they’ve beaten is #257 Robert Morris. Antelopes turn ball over 21.1% of time, which could be problem vs Johnnies’ backcourt.
