NBA (505) LOS ANGELES LAKERS VS (506) NEW YORK KNICKS

Take: UNDER

Reason: Your free play for Tuesday, December 12, 2017 is in the NBA contest between the LA Lakers and the NY Knicks. The Lakers (10-15 S/U, 12-13-0 ATS) make the coast-to-coast trip to play the Knicks (13-13 S/U, 14-12-0 ATS) tonight. The Lakers are in the third game of this road trip after playing at Charlotte. The Lakers have won and covered both of their road games. The Lakers are 2-7 O/U in their last nine road games and 8-17 O/U in their last 25 vs the Atlantic division. The Knicks are 1-6 O/U in their last seven home games and 1-5 O/U in their last six off one day rest. Total has gone from 211 to 212.5 or 213. That is good enough for me to play under now. Your free play is on the UNDER.

Nuggets vs. Pistons
Pistons-7

The Pistons don't just need a win, but a blowout victory. I see them achieving that in this home matchup against the Nuggets. Detroit is in full stop-the-pain mode having lost six in a row. This begs the question are the Pistons good enough to lay this amount of points? They were 12-8 before their losing streak, including being 8-2 SU, 6-3-1 ATS at Little Caesars Arena, their new home. Now let's examine their losing skid. Detroit didn't play well in a 109-91 road loss to the Wizards, which began their losing skid. The Pistons then had three more away contests. All were against respectable-to-good teams at tough road venues - Philadelphia, San Antonio and Milwaukee. The Pistons lost those three games by an average of four points per game. Then the Pistons opened their homestand drawing the Warriors and Celtics, two of the three best teams in the NBA. The Pistons trailed the Celtics by four points with under three minutes remaining before losing, 91-81. That's the third-fewest points the Celtics have scored this season. The Pistons finally get a schedule break with this game and opponent. Denver is one of those good home/bad road teams. The Nuggets are 4-10 SU, 3-11 ATS away from Pepsi Center. Denver has a high fatigue rating, too, playing its fifth road contest in nine days and coming off an overtime game against the Pacers on Sunday. Denver is vulnerable to Andre Drummond, the NBA rebounding leader, missing their two best players, big men Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap. Both are out with injuries. This puts a lot of pressure on the Nuggets guards, who are erratic. Starting guard Jamal Murray is dealing with a calf injury, too. Avery Bradley has been in a shooting slump, but he's one of the better defensive guards in the NBA. So I don't see the Nuggets making up for their key frontcourt injuries by getting exceptional scoring from their guards

LARRY NESS

My 1* Free Play is on the New York Knicks (7:05 EST).

LA is set up for a letdown here in my opinion after back-to-back road victories. With a game at the Cavaliers on Thursday, this also sets up as a “look ahead” spot for the Lakers.
New York hasn’t been perfect this year, but it’s been a lot better than last season. The Knicks won’t be taking this matchup for granted as they’d dropped six of eight before beating ATL 111-107 at home on Sunday.
LA is just 1-4 ATS in its last five road games against a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600 this year (the Knicks are 12-5 SU/ATS at home this season) and just 3-4 ATS off an upset win as an underdog, while New York is 6-1 ATS in its last seven against the Western conference and 7-3 ATS in all non-conference games.
For all the reasons listed above, consider laying the points in this matchup.
Good luck…Larry

JOEY JUICE

The Ottawa Senators are playing like dog crap, and it is mostly due to an inept offense that has averaged just 1.86 gpg over their last 12 games.

The Buffalo offense is even worse, in fact, it's the worst in the league.

Buffalo has averaged just 1.80 gpg in their last 10 games overall and just 1.77 gpg here at home. In fact, Buffalo’s home games have averaged just 4.69 goals, and in their last 10 games, the total scores are just 4.90 goals on average, while the last 10 games for Ottawa has averaged just 5.40 goals. Obviously, this game will not be about offense, the Under is 13-3-1 the last 17 games in this series.

That Trend continues in this one, bet the under.

2* OTTAWA-BUFFALO UNDER

Lakers vs. Knicks Preview and Predictions

The Los Angeles Lakers will try to stay perfect on their current road trip when they visit the New York Knicks on Tuesday. After losing five in a row, the Lakers began the four-game trip with a win at Philadelphia and then picked up another at Charlotte on Saturday, improving to 6-5 against Eastern Conference opponents.

"This is a sign of growth for sure," coach Like Walton told reporters after the 110-99 victory over the Hornets. "And even Philly was a sign of growth because even though we blew a 16-point lead, what would've happened in the past was once we blew that lead we would've just completely melted down. ... We've been able to win some of those games at home, but on the road we haven't been able to find a way once that crowd gets into it to get the defensive stops you need to win games. We (won) in Philly and we did that again tonight." The Knicks are a tough out at Madison Square Garden and are tied for the Eastern Conference lead with 12 home wins after Sunday's 111-107 victory over Atlanta. Kristaps Porzingis reached the 30-point mark for the first time since Nov. 11 and Doug McDermott came off the bench to provide a season-high 23 points for New York. The Lakers got seven players in double figures en route to a 121-106 win in Manhattan in the previous meeting on Feb. 6.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, ESPN, Spectrum SportsNet (Los Angeles), MSG (New York)

ABOUT THE LAKERS (10-15): After being held to five points on 1-of-9 shooting in a home loss to Houston, reserve guard Jordan Clarkson has recorded 38 points in 41 minutes on the road trip, including 22 while playing the stretch run at Charlotte in place of rookie Lonzo Ball. "It doesn't matter who comes in, who finishes the game -- we support each other and throughout the game everyone made huge contributions," Walton said. "At the end, that group had it rolling." Fellow backups Kyle Kuzma and Julius Randle combined for 24 points and 20 rebounds in the win.

ABOUT THE KNICKS (13-13): New York was inspired Sunday by a gutsy performance by center Enes Kanter (hip), who came to the arena on crutches but powered through 18 minutes to provide eight points and five rebounds. "He's the first guy I've ever seen come to a game on crutches and still start the game and he's about to leave on crutches," guard Jarrett Jack told the New York Post. "I've never seen that before in my 13 years in the league." Jack chipped in a season-high 19 points in 26 minutes.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. McDermott shoots 53 percent at home, compared to 42.4 on the road.

2. After Tuesday, the Knicks play 19 of their next 26 games on the road.

3. Ball has 17 assists against two turnovers on the road trip.

PREDICTION: Knicks 111, Lakers 105

Nuggets vs. Pistons Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

The Detroit Pistons are sliding downhill after a strong start and look to halt a six-game losing streak when they host the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday. Detroit opened the season by winning 14 of its first 20 games before the current skid that rates as its longest since a 10-gamer during the 2014-15 campaign.

The Pistons established season lows for points and field-goal percentage (33.3) in Sunday's 91-81 loss to the Boston Celtics and the postgame body language of the players stood out to coach Stan Van Gundy. "We've lost some confidence and we need to get it back," Van Gundy said afterward. "We knew we were going to play a month unlike anyone else in the NBA, and we started it well, but now it has gotten bad." Denver is experiencing its own struggles as it blew an eight-point lead late in regulation in Sunday's 126-116 overtime loss against the Indiana Pacers. The Nuggets are 1-3 on a six-game road excursion and a meager 4-10 away from home this season.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, Altitude 2 (Denver), FSN Detroit

ABOUT THE NUGGETS (14-12): The Denver meltdown against the Pacers was disturbing and coach Michael Malone attempted to downplay it by pointing out the absences of starting frontcourt players Paul Millsap (wrist surgery) and Nikola Jokic (ankle). But after holding a 114-106 advantage with 2:54 remaining in regulation, the Nuggets were torched 20-2 the rest of the way in the 10-point setback. Forward Trey Lyles pick up the slack with career bests of 25 points and five 3-pointers two nights after he missed all eight of his field-goals attempts while scoring three points against the Orlando Magic.

ABOUT THE PISTONS (14-12): Van Gundy kept telling everybody Detroit wasn't as good as its early 10-3 record and now he is expressing the Pistons aren't as bad as they seem after six straight losses. "I kept saying things can change quickly in this league," Van Gundy told reporters. "And they can. And they have on us right now. But they can change quickly back the other way, too. What I'm trying to do is tell them the truth but I'm also trying to provide a little bit of balance. I think this is a good team." Star center Andre Drummond (six points on 1-of-5 shooting) and guard Reggie Jackson (two points on 0-of-9 shooting) will look to bounce back from horrific showings against the Celtics.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Pistons won both of last season's meetings and three of the past four matchups.

2. Detroit SG Avery Bradley is shooting just 35.4 percent from the field in six December games.

3. Jokic will likely miss his sixth consecutive game, while Millsap isn't expected back for another two months.

PREDICTION: Pistons 109, Nuggets 105

Hawks vs. Cavaliers Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats07:00 PM
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

The Atlanta Hawks return to the scene of their most impressive victory of the season when they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday. Atlanta owns the second-worst record (6-20) in the NBA but the team was sharp when it recorded a 117-115 victory in Cleveland on Nov. 5.

Seven different Atlanta players scored 12 or more points in the stunning upset, led by point guard Dennis Schroder's 28 points and nine assists. Schroder has emerged as the Hawks' main scoring threat and has topped 20 points in five of the past eight games and has 14 20-point outings on the season. Cleveland is rolling with 14 victories in its last 15 games after riding forward LeBron James in Saturday's 105-98 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. James had 30 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists against the 76ers for his 58th career triple-double.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FSN Southeast (Atlanta), FSN Ohio (Cleveland)

ABOUT THE HAWKS (6-20): Forward Ersan Ilyasova has been lava-hot over the past two games by averaging 23 points on 16-of-20 shooting, including 10-of-11 from 3-point range. Ilyasova made five 3-pointers in each game and scored 26 points on 9-of-9 shooting in Saturday's win over the Orlando Magic before coming back with 20 on 7-of-11 shooting on Sunday in a loss to the New York Knicks. Prior to the two games, Ilyasova's best performance of the season was when he scored 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting in a 121-114 loss to the Cavaliers on Nov. 30.

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (19-8): Center Tristan Thompson (calf) will return from a calf injury after a 19-game absence but he will be coming off the bench as opposed to his former starting role. Cleveland has performed well with Kevin Love at center and Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue said after Monday's practice that he didn't want to tinker with a good formula and Thompson understands. "We've got to figure it out. I don't care," Thompson told reporters. "If I don't play, that's fine as long as we're winning I'm going to cheer my teammates on. If I play two minutes, three minutes, 20 minutes, it don't matter to me. As long as we win."

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Love registered 25 points and 16 rebounds when Cleveland posted the victory in Atlanta on Nov. 30.

2. Cleveland SG J.R. Smith made two 3-pointers in Saturday's victory over the Philadelphia 76ers to move into 12th place all-time with 1,828, passing Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

3. Atlanta C Dewayne Dedmon (leg) is slated to miss his seventh straight game and PF John Collins (shoulders) will miss his sixth.

PREDICTION: Cavaliers 124, Hawks 97

Wizards vs. Nets Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

The Washington Wizards were frustrated after a tough loss over the weekend but they still have a chance to complete a winning five-game road trip when they visit the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. A controversial rule hindered the Wizards' game-winning effort on the final play of a 113-112 setback at the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, dropping the squad to 2-2 on the trip.

Bradley Beal, who first had a game-winning shot waved off and then - after a re-do in which the inbound location was moved - watched big man Marcin Gortat miss a contested 21-footer, scored 25 points in the setback and is averaging 36.7 points in his last three games. The Nets may be a bit road-weary as well after winning at Atlanta and then splitting a pair of games in Mexico City, including Saturday's 101-89 loss to Miami. "Besides not being 3-0, I think this trip went about as good as possible," guard Spencer Dinwiddie told reporters. "Team bonding. ... Obviously, we miss our guys that were traded. But we went 2-1, which obviously is a winning record and we bonded. Overall a success." Washington has won seven straight meetings with Brooklyn, although it needed overtime to claim its last visit to the Barclays Center.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN Washington, YES (Brooklyn)

ABOUT THE WIZARDS (14-12): All-Star point guard John Wall is nearing a comeback from a knee issue that has caused him to miss eight straight games, and knows what his job will be upon return. "We got to find a way to still keep (Beal) in his rhythm when I come back," Wall told The Washington Post. "Keep him the same zone that he's in." While Beal is sizzling, forward Otto Porter Jr. has had an odd trip by averaging 20.5 points on 55.2 percent shooting in the two losses and three points on 3-of-17 in the two wins.

ABOUT THE NETS (10-15): Tuesday marks the team's first home game since acquiring center Jahlil Okafor and guard Nik Stauskas in a trade with Philadelphia. The two newcomers are expected to join the team Monday in Brooklyn and there is a buzz as their debuts near. "For sure. They definitely have talent," forward DeMarre Carroll told the New York Post. "Now we've got to try to get them in, jell them into the system, and the culture we're trying to build. I feel like that'll be easy, because if you don't fit in you'll stick out like a sore thumb in this (culture)."

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Wizards PF Mike Scott has made 17-of-19 shots over a three-game span after going 1-for-12 in his previous three contests.

2. Nets SF Rondae Hollis-Jefferson averaged 17 points and 7.3 rebounds during the three games away from home.

3. Gortat is averaging 4.3 points while making 7-of-22 shots during the road trip.

PREDICTION: Nets 110, Wizards 109

Spurs vs. Mavericks Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats08:30 PM
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

All-Star small forward Kawhi Leonard is expected to make his season debut when the San Antonio Spurs visit the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. Leonard, who was listed as probable after participating in Monday's practice, missed the first 27 games of the season due to a quadriceps injury.

San Antonio is playing well without the two-time NBA Defensive of the Year by winning eight of its past nine games. But coach Gregg Popovich and the players have been eagerly awaiting the return of Leonard, who averaged a career-best 25.5 points last season while supplying his usual lockdown defense. "We can be proud of the work we've done so far," center Pau Gasol told reporters after Monday's practice. "Now it's about Kawhi coming back and incorporating him and adjusting to that and being just as good or better." Dallas is back home after a winless three-game road trip, an excursion that ended with Sunday's 97-92 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, FSN Southwest (San Antonio, Dallas)

ABOUT THE SPURS (19-8): Power forward LaMarcus Aldridge has been in a go-to scoring role similar to his tenure in Portland with Leonard sidelined and is averaging 22.7 points, much better than last season's 17.3 mark. Aldridge's scoring may not take a hit in the short term while Leonard finds his stride and gets his game conditioning in order but will likely drop eventually. "There will probably be an adjustment phase in some way, shape or form," Popovich told reporters. "We're going to add somebody who is going to have the ball a lot, and he's pretty good. They'll all have to adjust."

ABOUT THE MAVERICKS (7-20): Rookie point guard Dennis Smith Jr. (hip) will miss his third consecutive game and coach Rick Carlisle said the team will be cautious with the emerging star. "He played with a pretty significant ankle injury last year, but this is all about getting a diagnosis from the doc and finding out exactly what it is and making sure he's 100 percent," Carlisle told reporters. "It does no good to bring him back at 85 or 90 percent if there's a chance he could re-injure it based on the fact that we didn't bring him back at 100 percent." Smith, the ninth overall pick in the 2017 draft, has been an instant hit by averaging 14.4 points, four rebounds and four assists per game.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Spurs are 2-0 against the Mavericks this season and have won 10 of the past 11 meetings.

2. Dallas SF Harrison Barnes is averaging 14.5 points on 8-of-30 shooting in the two games against the Spurs.

3. San Antonio SG Danny Green (groin) is listed as probable after a one-game absence.

PREDICTION: Spurs 113, Mavericks 105

76ers vs. Timberwolves Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats09:30 PM
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

The Philadelphia 76ers attempt to end their roughest stretch of the season when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday. Philadelphia is mired in a season-worst four-game skid and hopes to have center Joel Embiid (back) after he missed the past two games.

Embiid was rested for Saturday's game in Cleveland and was a late scratch against New Orleans on Sunday due to back stiffness. But the news improved Monday as Embiid, who is averaging 27 points and 10.8 rebounds over his last five appearances, was listed as questionable for the matchup versus Minnesota. The Timberwolves posted a 97-92 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday in the opener of a five-game homestand and are a stellar five games above .500 one-third of the way through the season. Star center Karl-Anthony Towns leads the NBA with 21 double-doubles and is averaging 20.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game.

TV: 9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN, NBCSN Philadelphia, FSN North (Minnesota)

ABOUT THE 76ERS (13-13): Philadelphia has dropped four consecutive games while springing leaks on defense and allowing 114.5 points per game during the stretch. Rookie playmaker Ben Simmons has stood out during the funk with averages of 18.3 points, 10.5 assists and 7.8 rebounds while registering one triple-double and two double-doubles. "He's been a four-man his whole life, we decided to make him a point guard," 76ers coach Brett Brown told reporters. "It's the hardest position to play in the NBA, let alone for a rookie, let alone for somebody that was a college four-man. To his credit, he's embraced the position."

ABOUT THE TIMBERWOLVES (16-11): Minnesota has won three of its past four games but needed shooting guard Jimmy Butler to take over in the fourth quarter to score 10 of his 22 points to hold off the lowly Mavericks. "I thought Jimmy closed the game out for us," Timberwolves backup shooting guard Jamal Crawford told reporters. "It's such a luxury to have a guy like that that you can put the ball in his hands and he can make the right play. More times than not, it works in our favor." Crawford scored 16 points in 20 minutes off the bench against Dallas and has yet to reach the 20-point mark this season while averaging 9.4 points.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Timberwolves have won seven of the past 11 meetings but the teams split last season's two matchups.

2. Minnesota SF Andrew Wiggins had just 10 points on 3-of-12 shooting against Dallas and is averaging 12.5 points over the past four games.

3. Philadelphia F Robert Covington (back) is questionable after a one-game absence, while PG T.J. McConnell (shoulder) is slated to play after sitting out two games.

PREDICTION: Timberwolves 107, 76ers 99

Suns vs. Kings Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

Devin Booker's absence has certainly been felt on the offensive end for the Phoenix Suns, who will try to snap a three-game slide when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday. Booker is out another two weeks or so with a groin strain, and the Suns have dropped their first two contests without the team's top scorer.

Phoenix averaged 100 points in those two losses after scoring at least 104 in its previous six games and just two starters reached double figures in Saturday's 104-101 home loss to San Antonio. "Took us 24 minutes to find a group that would play with the right energy," interim coach Jay Triano told reporters. "I mean, we just seemed to be a step slow. You know, I was mixing guys in and out trying to look for offense, defense, anything that would give us some juice and finally got it in the second half." The Kings opened up their two-game homestand with a 102-87 loss to Toronto, their third straight setback at the Golden 1 Center. Rookie point guard De'Aaron Fox was held to six points and turned it over a season-high seven times as Sacramento committed 21 turnovers leading to 27 points for the Raptors.

TV: 10 p.m. ET, FSN Arizona (Phoenix), NBCSN California (Sacramento)

ABOUT THE SUNS (9-19): Phoenix had 11 assists against San Antonio, its lowest total in that category since it amassed just 10 in a season-opening 48-point loss to Portland, but there was encouragement in a 62-point second half that made it close in the end. "They were embarrassing us a little bit, especially with them coming off the back-to-back resting players," forward Marquese Chriss told the media. "I think that's a slap in the face sometimes, so you just try to take it personal. They were basically just trying to outwork us and that was what happened in the first half, and in the second half I think we worked a little harder." Chriss had 15 points and eight rebounds and has scored in double figures in consecutive games for the first time this season.

ABOUT THE KINGS (8-18): Veteran Zach Randolph continues to be the example for Sacramento's youthful core, and he finished Sunday's loss with 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting and 11 rebounds. JaKarr Sampson has followed Randolph's lead and was 5-for-5 from the floor while blocking three shots in the loss to Toronto. Veteran guard George Hill has seen his role reduced a bit as the season wears on and was out Sunday for personal reasons, yielding more time to Garrett Temple, who was held scoreless in 11 minutes but also scored a career high-tying 23 in a loss at Phoenix earlier this season.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Suns SF TJ Warren scored 24 points against San Antonio and has at least 23 in three of his last four games.

2. Kings SG Bogdan Bogdanovic made 4-of-8 3-pointers versus the Raptors after going 4-for-17 over his previous six games.

3. Randolph needs 22 rebounds to become the 39th player in NBA history with 10,000 in his career.

PREDICTION: Kings 108, Suns 105

Avalanche vs. Capitals Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/12/2017

The Colorado Avalanche began the month with four straight losses - the first three at home - before posting back-to-back wins at Florida and Pittsburgh. Colorado looks to conclude its four-game road trip with another victory when it visits the Washington Capitals on Tuesday.

Defenseman Mark Barberio and Blake Comeau scored in the third period while Jonathan Bernier made 39 saves in Monday's 2-1 triumph over the Penguins for the Avalanche, who have recorded a total of nine goals in their consecutive triumphs after producing seven during their month-opening slide. Extending their winning streak will be a tall order as Washington has been strong at home, winning four in a row and six of its last seven. The Capitals were not successful when they visited the New York Islanders on Monday, dropping a 3-1 decision for their fourth loss in five road games. Blue-liner Dmitry Orlov scored the lone goal for Washington while captain Alex Ovechkin was kept off the scoresheet, ending a four-game streak during which he collected eight points.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, Altitude (Colorado), NBCSN Washington

ABOUT THE AVALANCHE (14-13-2): Defenseman Erik Johnson was in the lineup Monday after exiting the win over the Panthers two nights earlier with a knee injury and logged a team-high 26 minutes, 51 seconds of ice time. Captain Gabriel Landeskog failed to record a point Monday, leaving him two shy of 300 for his career. The 25-year-old Swede, who has reached double digits in goals for the fifth straight season, is one tally behind Nathan MacKinnon (11) for the team lead.

ABOUT THE CAPITALS (18-12-1): Nicklas Backstrom recorded five points in two games before being kept off the scoresheet Monday for just the third time in nine contests. The 30-year-old Swede has scored 193 goals in his career, tying him with Dave Christian for seventh place on the franchise list. T.J. Oshie (upper body), who is tied for second on the club with 10 goals - including a team-high seven on the power play - missed his third consecutive game Monday.

OVERTIME

1. Avalanche G Semyon Varlamov, who began his career with Washington, is expected to start against his former team.

2. Capitals LW Andre Burakovsky's next point will be the 100th of his career.

3. Colorado RW Nail Yakupov has missed three straight games due to an illness and is day-to-day.

Maple Leafs vs. Flyers Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/12/2017

Toronto Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock has played his cards well this season when having ace Auston Matthews held out of the deck due to injury. With Matthews likely a game-time decision due to an upper-body ailment, the Maple Leafs aim to secure a fourth straight victory on Tuesday when they open a three-game trek against the Philadelphia Flyers.

"We're not trying to have (Auston) out of the lineup, but it's nice we can win without him obviously," Babcock told TSN after Toronto improved to 5-0-0 this season without the reigning Calder Memorial Trophy recipient in the lineup following Sunday's 1-0 victory over Edmonton. Frederik Andersen was given the night off against the Oilers, but looks to avenge his lone loss to Philadelphia in seven career outings (6-1-0) following a four-goal performance in a 4-2 setback on Oct. 28. Jakub Voracek scored and set up a goal in that contest and notched three assists on Thursday as the Flyers completed a perfect three-game trek through Western Canada with a 4-1 triumph versus Vancouver. The 28-year-old Czech has set up seven goals during the road trip to extend his team lead in assists (30) and points (37).

TV: 7 p.m. ET, TSN4 (Toronto), TVAS, NBCSN Philadelphia

ABOUT THE MAPLE LEAFS (20-10-1): William Nylander may have been shuffled to a new line, but his mates' faces were quite familiar as he joined Zach Hyman and Connor Brown for the first time since the group was with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. "It is fun when we get to play together, it (had been) a while," Nylander told TSN. "I think it started pretty good." Hyman scored 34 seconds into Sunday's tilt, marking his club's fastest to start a game this season.

ABOUT THE FLYERS (11-11-7): While Philadelphia answered a 10-game winless skid (0-5-5) with a successful road trip, forward Sean Couturier knows his team needs a strong response to end a six-game losing streak (0-4-2) in front of the home folk at Wells Fargo Center. "It can be tough at times, especially in Philly. More pressure," Couturier told Philly.com. "But when you're winning, it's one of the best places to play. Now that we're back on the winning side, we're excited to be back in front of the fans, and hopefully we can stick a few more wins here." Goaltender Brian Elliott has made his presence felt during the team's winning streak, earning NHL Third Star of Week honors on Monday after posting a 1.67 goals-against average and .954 save percentage during that stretch.

OVERTIME

1. Philadelphia LW Michael Raffl collected three goals and an assist during the three-game road trip after mustering three points (two goals, one assist) in his previous 26 contests.

2. Maple Leafs C Nazem Kadri scored twice in the first encounter versus the Flyers and has 12 points in 12 games to end November before being held off the scoresheet in all four contests in December.

3. Philadelphia captain Claude Giroux, who is an Ontario native, has recorded multi-point performances in each of his last two games overall and scored a goal versus Toronto in the first encounter.

Kings vs. Devils Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/12/2017

The Los Angeles Kings have been downright impressive during their season-high eight-game winning streak, but don't go singing their praises to coach John Stevens. The Pacific Division-leading Kings look to continue their torrid play on Tuesday as they open a four-game road trip against the New Jersey Devils.

"It really doesn't matter what we've done to this point," Stevens said following Monday's practice. "This is an important trip to continue to get points and continue to try and play well and build our team game." Los Angeles' calling card has long been its defense, and the team has surrendered just 13 goals during its win streak - with Jonathan Quick posting a 1.46 goals-against average and .943 save percentage during his six-game unbeaten run. That level of dominance is hardly music to the ears of New Jersey, which has mustered just nine goals en route to losing three of its last four games. "Every team in the league goes through that at some point," Devils forward Taylor Hall said of his team dropping two straight in regulation for the first time this season. "It's about how quickly you can nip it in the bud and really get that part out of your game."

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FSN West (Los Angeles), MSG-Plus (New Jersey)

ABOUT THE KINGS (20-8-3): Captain Anze Kopitar has collected multi-point performances in each of his last four games, recording three goals and six assists in that stretch. The 30-year-old Slovene has collected 11 multi-point efforts this season and leads the team in goals (16), assists (22) and points (38). Fellow forward Tyler Toffoli scored and set up a goal in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over Carolina, increasing his goal total to 14 - two shy of his final output from last season.

ABOUT THE DEVILS (16-9-4): Cory Schneider is hoping to rebound from a disastrous start after matching the sum total of his three previous outings by surrendering all five goals in a loss to Columbus on Friday. "For me, learning on goals and what I can do better and how I can be different (is the approach needed)," the 31-year-old Schneider told NJ.com. "We've done a pretty good all year to responding. This weekend, and it kind of creeps back four, five, six games now. We haven't had our best, and we need a response from everybody." Schneider dropped both encounters with the Kings last season, including yielding three goals in the first period before receiving an early exit on Jan. 24.

OVERTIME

1. New Jersey C Brian Gibbons leads the team with 11 goals, but has just one point - an assist - in his last six games.

2. The Kings are just 2-for-22 on the power play during their win streak.

3. The Devils have failed to convert with the man advantage in four straight games (0-for-11).

PREDICTION: Kings 3, Devils 1

Oilers vs. Blue Jackets Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

Although the Columbus Blue Jackets are hearing footsteps from the defending two-time Presidents' Trophy winners, they are holding down first place in the Metropolitan Division entering Tuesday's matchup against the visiting Edmonton Oilers. The Blue Jackets have won two in a row and 10 of 13 to maintain a two-point edge over Washington in the division.

Reigning Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky allowed three goals in his previous 11 starts before turning aside 35 shots to earn his league-leading fourth shutout in a 1-0 win over Arizona on Saturday night. "I think we need to get him in a flow after giving him a few days," coach John Tortorella said. "Goalies need to get into a flow. He looked as sharp as he has since he had those few days off." While Columbus became the ninth team in league history to score an opening-minute goal in a 1-0 regulation victory, the Oilers were victimized by the 10th team to achieve that feat in their 1-0 setback at Toronto on Sunday night. Edmonton has lost three in a row and six of seven overall to the Blue Jackets while dropping its last five visits to Columbus.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, Sportsnet Oilers (Edmonton), FSN Ohio (Columbus)

ABOUT THE OILERS (12-16-2): Edmonton received plenty of secondary scoring in a 6-2 rout at Montreal on Saturday but was unable to win consecutive games for the third time this season despite pouring 41 shots on goal in the loss at Toronto. "Hockey's a funny game. Hockey's a weird game," Oilers superstar Connor McDavid said. "Some nights, you don't do anything and get one or two. Some nights, you have your legs and get nothing. That's the way hockey is." McDavid has two goals and five points in four games versus Columbus.

ABOUT THE BLUE JACKETS (19-10-1): Cam Atkinson was a healthy scratch for Saturday's win, a startling development for a player who scored 35 goals last season and signed a seven year, $41.125 million last month. "It's a wake-up call," acknowledged Atkinson, who has been limited to six goals and nine points in 25 games. "I take full responsibility. I know I need to be way better, and I will be." Tortorella reunited Atkinson with Boone Jenner and Brandon Dubinsky at Monday's practice and also had him on the top power-play unit.

OVERTIME

1. Columbus has a league-worst 9.4 percent success rate on the power play, while Edmonton is 2-for-24 in the last 10 games.

2. Oilers F Milan Lucic has three goals and seven assists in the past 10 games.

3. Atkinson has six goals and nine points in 12 games versus the Oilers.

Senators vs. Sabres Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

The two worst teams in the Eastern Conference are mired in horrendous tailspins, but one of them will get back in the win column when the reeling Ottawa Senators visit the skidding Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. Ottawa, which reached the Eastern Conference finals last season, has dropped 11 of its last 12 while Buffalo has lost 13 of 15.

The Senators have lost four straight -- three by shutout -- entering the final stop of a season-high seven-game road trip against the only team below them in the East. "When things don't go well for an extended period of time, it's not a great situation," Ottawa defenseman Dion Phaneuf said. "It's not about the coaching staff. It's not about one aspect here or one aspect there, it's about us collectively as a team. We haven't played well enough as a team to get out of it." Neither have the Sabres, who came close at the end of their four-game trip by dropping a pair of 3-2 overtime decisions in Chicago and St. Louis. Buffalo has had the upper hand in the series of late, riding an eight-game point streak (6-0-2) against the Senators after winning four of five meetings last season.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, RDS, TSN5 (Ottawa), MSG-Buffalo

ABOUT THE SENATORS (9-12-7): Rumors of potential trades are swirling around Ottawa -- even superstar captain Erik Karlsson's name has been floated about -- but leading goal scorer Mark Stone doesn't think making a deal is a cure-all. "I think the changes have to come with the guys in the locker room," Stone said. "We have to change either the way we're preparing or we have to change the way we're playing and commit to a strategy." Stone has been held held off the scoresheet in the last four games and is minus-10 in that span.

ABOUT THE SABRES (7-17-6): Evan Rodrigues scored his first two goals of the season to help Buffalo erase a two-goal deficit and force overtime versus St. Louis. Rodrigues was appearing in his third game since his promotion from the minors. "He's got a good nose to where to be in the right position at the right time," coach Phil Housley said. "The puck, sometimes in games, follows you. It was following him tonight. He has some good speed, he has really good lateral movement and he gets into those areas to score. It was good to see him get on the board."

OVERTIME

1. Sabres C Jack Eichel has four goals and 10 points in seven games versus the Senators.

2. Ottawa hasn't beaten Buffalo in regulation since Oct. 8, 2015.

3. Sabres G Robin Lehner has faced 133 shots on goal in his last three starts (1-0-2).

Lightning vs. Blues Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

The Eastern Conference-leading Tampa Bay Lightning begin a four-game road trip against the top team in the West when they visit the injury-plagued St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night. The Lightning come in off sweeping a four-game homestand while St. Louis has also won four in a row, but is smarting from the loss of second-leading scorer Jaden Schwartz (ankle) for at least six weeks.

"It sucks," Blues forward Brayden Schenn told the St. Louis Dispatch. "He's having a great year. He's doing it all for us, both ends of the ice and making stuff happen. ... We have to find ways to step up and fill the big hole left by him." Schenn will be depended on even more after the injury to Schwartz and the former fifth-overall draft pick has scored six times during a four-game goal streak to be named the NHL's first star of the week Monday. Captain Steven Stamkos leads the NHL with 42 points and Nikita Kucherov boasts 41, but 21-year-old center Brayden Point has been just as important for Tampa Bay with three overtime winners and goals in each of the last three games. "(Point) is one of those guys who goes out there and feels if he doesn't play well he's going to get sent down," Lightning coach Jon Cooper told reporters after Point's winner in the extra session of Saturday's 4-3 victory over Winnipeg. "That's the kind of attitude that he has."

TV: 8 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Network

ABOUT THE LIGHTNING (21-6-2): Kucherov reached 20 goals and Stamkos notched his 30th assist in Saturday's victory while forward Yanni Gourde and rookie defenseman Mikhail Sergachev became the fifth and sixth players to get to 20 points. "I think we showed the depth of our team (Saturday)," Gourde told reporters after scoring his ninth goal. "Every line can score, and every line was effective this homestand." Forward Tyler Johnson is warming up with two goals and five assists over the last four games, most of that time since he was moved into the top six up front.

ABOUT THE BLUES (21-8-2): Schenn leads the team with 37 points and Vladimir Tarasenko (33) has stepped up with two goals and two assists in the last three games while coach Mike Yeo will shuffle the forward lines to make up for the absence of Schwartz. "I think everybody gets an opportunity," Yeo told reporters. "I don't think we're going to point to one person and say this is the guy that's going to make up for the loss." Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo (foot), who has three assists in his last three games, missed the 3-2 overtime win over Buffalo on Sunday and is questionable.

OVERTIME

1. Tampa Bay G Andrei Vasilevskiy, who boasts a .930 save percentage, has a chance to become the first in the NHL to reach 20 victories.

2. St. Louis G Jake Allen allowed only six goals while winning his last four starts and was named the NHL's second star of the week.

3. The Lightning have won the last two meetings, including a 2-1 triumph in Tampa Bay on Oct. 14, but lost five straight at St. Louis.

Flames vs. Wild Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

After navigating the rugged three-game California road trip by posting a pair of dramatic victories, the Minnesota Wild will kick off a three-game homestand against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night. The Wild have won four of five overall and capped the West Coast trek by registering overtime wins over the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks.

Minnesota squandered a three-goal lead at San Jose but came away with the victory on Nino Niederreiter's unassisted tally in the extra session. "We definitely played some really good hockey out here in California," Niederreiter said. "We just gotta make sure we bring that momentum with us, bring that confidence with us and take it game by game." The Flames have won two straight following a stretch of six losses in eight games (2-4-2) and have been much better on the road (8-4-2) than at Scotiabank Saddledome (8-8-0). One of those home losses was a 4-2 setback to the Wild on Oct. 21, which ended Calgary's four-game winning streak in the series.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, Sportsnet West (Calgary), FSN North-Plus (Minnesota)

ABOUT THE FLAMES (16-12-2): Admitting there was "no excuse not to be moving" after returning from a one-game suspension, Matthew Tkachuk scored twice in a three-goal third period against Vancouver to end an 11-game goal drought. Tkachuk's tallies sandwiched a goal by Sam Bennett, the No. 4 overall draft pick in 2014 who had notched three goals and five assists over the past seven games. "His game was trending in the right direction and now he's getting results," Flames coach Glen Gulutzan said of Bennett.

ABOUT THE WILD (15-11-3): After failing to register a point in three straight games for the first time this season, veteran forward Eric Staal scored a pair of goals and set up another to boost his team-leading total to 26 points. "We need our big players to be big or we're not going to succeed," Minnesota coach Bruce Boudreau said. "He played really good, could have had a couple more, I think." Defenseman Ryan Murphy collected his first points in his sixth game of the season with a goal and an assist in San Jose.

OVERTIME

1. Flames G Mike Smith, who appeared in his 500th game Saturday, is 4-11-1 lifetime against Minnesota.

2. Wild G Devan Dubnyk is 11-7-4 with a 2.26 goals-against average versus the Flames.

3. Calgary is 2-for-22 on the power play over the past seven games.

Panthers vs. Blackhawks Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/12/2017

Corey Crawford's return to the lineup coincided with the end of a slide, and the Chicago Blackhawks hope to continue moving in a positive direction when they host the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. Crawford has allowed three goals in two straight victories after missing the previous three contests due to injury as the Blackhawks' losing streak rose to five games.

"He's played great for us," Chicago right wing Patrick Kane told reporters regarding Crawford, who owns a .932 save percentage. "We put ourselves in some tough positions some shifts, and he's there to bail us out." The Blackhawks registered a total of 88 shots in their last two games and hope to continue that kind of pressure against Florida, which is without No. 1 goaltender Roberto Luongo and opened its five-game road trip with a 2-1 overtime victory at Detroit on Monday. The Panthers have earned at least a point in seven of their last 10 games (5-3-2) and got good news Monday with the quick return of top center Aleksander Barkov. The 22-year-old, who was drafted second overall by Florida in 2013, notched an assist in the win over the Red Wings and logged 23 minutes, 36 seconds of ice time after missing the previous game with an upper-body injury.

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, Sportnet, FSN Florida, NBCSN Chicago

ABOUT THE PANTHERS (12-14-4): Florida's top two scorers have been red-hot of late as Jonathan Huberdeau (32 points) has recorded a goal and five assists in his last three games while Vincent Trocheck (31) has registered three tallies and eight points in his last five. Aaron Ekblad saw his three-game goal-scoring streak end Monday despite unleashing four shots and fellow defenseman Mike Matheson scored the game-winner in overtime for his first tally of the campaign. James Reimer is 3-1-2 in his last six decisions after making 34 saves on Monday.

ABOUT THE BLACKHAWKS (14-11-5): Kane snapped a four-game point drought with a pair of assists in Sunday's 3-1 victory over Arizona and leads Chicago with 29 points - eight more than the team's goal-scoring leader Alex DeBrincat (12). Captain Jonathan Toews has notched four points in his last five games while Nick Schmaltz and Artem Anisimov ended four-game goal-scoring droughts on Sunday. Tommy Wingels has scored in two straight games, but Chicago's power play has struggled in its last seven contests (2-for-27).

OVERTIME

1. Barkov's assist on Monday gave him 28 points on the season and pulled the Finn within one of 200 for his career.

2. Kane moved into fifth place on the team's all-time scoring list Sunday, notching two points to break a tie with Doug Wilson (779).

3. Chicago LW Patrick Sharp, who has managed one point in his last six contests, is slated to play in his 900th NHL game on Tuesday.

Hurricanes vs. Golden Knights Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/12/2017

The expansion Vegas Golden Knights could have their No. 1 goaltender back in the crease when they begin a five-game homestand Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes. Marc-Andre Fleury, who has not played since Oct. 13 because of a concussion, was activated from injured reserve Sunday after missing 25 games.

"I feel good, finally," the 33-year-old Fleury told the Las Vegas Sun. "It's been a long time that I've been away now. It's fun to feel normal and be around the team and have some fun." The Golden Knights are an astounding 11-2-0 at home in their inaugural season and have won four straight contests overall, including Saturday's 5-3 triumph at Dallas in which David Perron recorded a goal and an assist to reach 400 points for his career. Carolina remains in search of a victory on its six-game road trip after dropping a 3-2 decision at Anaheim on Monday. The Hurricanes are 0-2-2 on their trek and have lost six straight away from home (0-3-3).

TV: 10 p.m. ET, FSN Carolinas, AT&T SportsNet-Rocky Mountain (Vegas)

ABOUT THE HURRICANES (11-11-7): Victor Rask appears to have broken out of his goal-scoring slump as he has tallied in three consecutive contests after scoring once in his previous 13 games. Cam Ward likely will be in net Tuesday as he seeks his 300th career victory. The 33-year-old former Conn Smythe Trophy winner is 3-0-1 in his last five starts but has been relegated to the backup role this season.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS (19-9-1): With Fleury ready for action, Vegas assigned rookie Maxime Lagace to Chicago of the American Hockey League. The 24-year-old was brought up from the minors when the Golden Knights' top three goaltenders went down with injuries and had an up-and-down experience, posting a 6-6-1 record with a 3.79 goals-against average and .872 save percentage. William Karlsson leads the team with 15 goals, which was his total in 162 games over his previous two seasons with Columbus.

OVERTIME

1. Golden Knights LW Erik Haula has scored a goal in three straight games and four of his last five.

2. Carolina D Justin Faulk's next point will be the 200th of his career.

3. Vegas C Cody Eakin is one assist shy of 100 for his career while D Luca Sbisa needs two points to reach 100 in the NHL.

Mississippi State vs. Cincinnati Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

Recent subpar performances from its best players has dropped Cincinnati out of the top 25 rankings. Getting back there will require better ball handling - and that starts with a Tuesday night encounter with a visiting Mississippi State team that comes in with an unblemished record but is having its own turnover problems.

The Bearcats were in the thick of it against No. 5 Florida in the Never Forget Tribute Classic in Newark, N.J., on Saturday, but committed a whopping 21 turnovers while ultimately falling short 66-60 for their second straight loss following a seven-game winning streak. "We've got good players turning the ball over, which is a big, big problem," Cincinnati head coach Mick Cronin said after the game. "It's hard to win when you turn the ball over, nearly impossible to win. If we had won this game somehow with the turnover line it would have been a modern miracle." Getting back into the top 25 won't require anything miraculous - Cincinnati earned the most votes of any team not in the rankings - but Tuesday's opponent is no pushover. The Bulldogs ran their season-opening winning streak to eight games with a 95-62 rout of Division II North Georgia.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, ESPN2

ABOUT MISSISSIPPI STATE (8-0): The Bulldogs can't exactly boast about the strength of their schedule to date, and are probably fortunate to still be unbeaten despite committing an average of 15.3 turnovers per game - tied with Idaho State for 279th among 351 Division I schools. But Mississippi State does plenty of other things well; it ranks 34th in the nation in shooting percentage (49.6) and averages 6.6 blocked shots per game, tied for the sixth-highest rate in the country. Tyson Carter leads five players in double figures at 14 points per game, but had just two against Northern Georgia after racking up 55 in his previous two games.

ABOUT CINCINNATI (7-2): Cronin clearly wasn't happy with his team's effort in losses to nationally-ranked Xavier and Florida, suggesting that winning made his team "soft" and adding that "it makes you arrogant and it makes your players content." Gary Clark leads the team in scoring at 13.2 ppg and had nine points and 13 rebounds in the loss to the Gators; he's also at 82.5 percent from the free-throw line but has hit on just 3-of-6 attempts over his past two games. Jacob Evans is a close second in the pecking order at 13.1 ppg and has reached double figures in five straight games, highlighted by a 23-point effort against Xavier.

TIP-INS

1. Tuesday marks Mississippi State's only road encounter among its first 14 games of the season.

2. The Bearcats are tied for fourth in Division I in scoring margin at plus-21.7 points per game.

3. Teams shoot just 36.8 percent vs. Cincinnati; only nine teams have better defensive rates.

PREDICTION: Cincinnati 74, Mississippi State 66

Michigan vs. Texas Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

Michigan looks to build on its comeback win over UCLA when it hits the road to face Texas on Tuesday. The Wolverines erased a 15-point second half deficit en route to a 78-69 overtime victory against the then 23rd-ranked Bruins, as they knocked off a ranked team for the first time this season, and hope the win serves as a springboard to their fourth consecutive triumph over Texas after posting victories over the Longhorns in each of the last three years.

"It's really a great testimony to our kids," Michigan coach John Beilein told reporters. "I'm hoping it's a huge benchmark for our team as we go forward." Texas is back on track after losses to No. 4 Duke (85-78) and 13th-ranked Gonzaga at the PK80 Tournament. The Longhorns beat Florida A&M 82-58 before taking down VCU 71-67 on the road Dec. 5 to hand Shaka Smart his 200th career coaching victory in his return to Richmond after leaving the Rams for Texas in 2015, and they hope to ride the momentum to their first victory against Michigan since Mar. 15, 1996. "Our guys really hung in there and made some plays down the stretch to pull it out," Smart told reporters. "We took a step but we still have a long way to go."

TV: 9 p.m. ET, ESPN2

ABOUT MICHIGAN (8-3): Moritz Wagner poured in 23 points while Charles Matthews added 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting and pulled down eight rebounds as the Wolverines outscored UCLA 13-4 in overtime to complete the upset. Zavier Simpson had his best outing of the season as he registered a career-high 15 points and four steals as Michigan forced 20 turnovers against the Bruins. Duncan Robinson's shooting woes continued as he missed five of his six attempts from the floor to finish with two points and he is 5-for-30 from the field over his last four games.

ABOUT TEXAS (6-2): Sophomore guard Andrew Jones drained four 3-pointers en route to a career-high 19 points in the win against VCU to finish in double figures for the seventh time in eight games. Dylan Osetkowski added 17 points while freshman phenom Mohamed Bamba contributed 13 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots against the Rams to register the second double-double of his career. Eric Davis Jr. scored 11 points and Kerwin Roach dished out a season-high seven assists.

TIP-INS

1. Five of the six meetings between Texas and Michigan have been decided by six points or less.

2. Bamba is ranked third nationally with four blocked shots per game.

3. Wagner is averaging 18.2 points over his last five games.

San Diego vs. Colorado Preview and Predictions

By Gracenote for Scores and Stats
by Gracenote on 12/11/2017

Colorado's Tad Boyle told anyone that would listen before the season that he had one of the top freshmen in the country in McKinley Wright IV. The point guard hasn't done anything to diminish his coach's feelings and will put his vast skills on display again when the Buffaloes host stingy San Diego on Tuesday in a matchup of 7-2 teams.

Wright averages team highs of 15.7 points and 4.2 assists while shooting 51.9 percent from the field and contributing 5.3 rebounds - second on the team. The Minnesota native recorded 16 points, five assists and four rebounds in Saturday's 96-69 loss at No. 9 Xavier on Saturday, a setback that Boyle hopes will somehow improve the Buffaloes. "This is an opportunity for us to learn to get better. Not necessarily from our own mistakes, but from what Xavier does well,'' Boyle told reporters. "This should be an eye-opener for our guys." The Toreros are coming off a 79-51 rout of Northern Arizona on Saturday in which they led 26-3 and allow 59.7 points per game, the seventh-fewest nationally entering Monday.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, Pac-12 Network

ABOUT SAN DIEGO (7-2): Junior forward Isaiah Pineiro, who leads the team in scoring (15.7 points) and rebounding (6.3), recorded a season-high 23 points in the Toreros' 65-60 victory at New Mexico State on Wednesday. Junior guard Isaiah Wright (13.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists) missed a triple-double by one rebound in a 72-62 victory at Grand Canyon on Nov. 25. Junior guard Tyler Williams is averaging 12 points in his last two games - his third and fourth of the season after recovering from a broken big toe - and is among five players averaging more than 25 minutes.

ABOUT COLORADO (7-2): Senior guard George King (14.4 points, team-best 8.8 rebounds) is averaging 16.8 points and 9.8 boards over his last five games after recording 15 and eight versus Xavier. Junior guard Namon Wright (12.2 points) scored 20 and recorded a career-high six steals Saturday, and is 3-for-6 from 3-point range in his last two games after starting the season 4-for-20. Senior forward Tory Miller-Stewart (6.2 points, 4.7 rebounds) has missed the last three games with what is likely a season-ending foot injury, so 7-0 freshman forward Dallas Walton and 6-10 sophomore forward Lucas Siewert (combined 7.1 points, 6.9 rebounds) must step up.

Mahoning Valley Race Course - Race #1 - Post: 12:45pm - Maiden Claiming - 5.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $12,000 Class Rating: 57

Rating: 4

#1A GRIZZLY (ML=5/2)
#3 SIMPLY I SUPPOSE (ML=7/2)

GRIZZLY - Have to like this colt today. If you take a look at his PP lines you see a definite trend, getting closer with each and every race. Have to make this colt a solid contender; he comes off a good outing on November 25th. Another way to assign class is earnings per start. This horse has the highest in the field. I think he'll be close at the finish. That 52 fig this colt garnered in his last clash tells me he's a key player this time around. SIMPLY I SUPPOSE - I have to like this gelding's likelihood of winning at the shorter distance. Using this jockey/handler combination is a good decision. Taking a big drop in class figure points from his November 9th race at Hawthorne. Based on that knowledge, I will give this one the edge.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 CALCUTTA COWBOY (ML=5/2), #4 CINDOR BOLT (ML=4/1), #5 FORTUNE MAKER (ML=5/1),

CALCUTTA COWBOY - Tough to bet on at 5/2 odds after the last two showings. Not easy to play any thoroughbred in a sprint race at 5/2 when he hasn't shown any successful endeavors in sprints in the last couple months. CINDOR BOLT - One should normally not wager on a racer in the next start after finishing off the board following a long layoff. FORTUNE MAKER - Awfully tough to wager on this mount when he hasn't been showing any signs of life recently.

# 8 MEMBER STATE (GB) 3/1

# 6 MY BOY RUDY 4/1

# 1 ROYAL KNIGHT 7/2

I've got to go with MEMBER STATE (GB). This field is much softer than the last one he ran against. Is tough not to consider given the company run in as of late. Looks strong for the conditions of this race today, showing solid figures in dirt sprint races lately. MY BOY RUDY - When Lowe uses Gonzalez there's a good chance for collecting. Earnings per start at the distance/surface is a very good angle. This horse ranks at the top in this field of horses. ROYAL KNIGHT - Had one of the strongest speed figures of this group in his last contest. Has garnered formidable speed figures in dirt sprint races in the past.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 6 TO BLAVE 3/1

# 3 TOTALED THE BENZ 6/1

# 7 SUNSHINE SPERRY 10/1

I lean toward TO BLAVE here. Shows sound Equibase Speed Figures on average overall when matched with the rest of this field. Garnered a reliable speed figure in the most recent race. Can run another good one in this race. With a nice Equibase class rating average of 93, has one of the strongest class advantages in this group. TOTALED THE BENZ - Machado has him trained very well to break rapidly out of the starting gate. Could beat this group given the 73 speed figure recorded in his last outing. SUNSHINE SPERRY - He looks respectable in this spot and I expect will be on the front end or close at the midpoint. Is a contender - given the 70 speed fig from his most recent race.

#7 PROUD MANES (ML=6/1)

PROUD MANES - Lower weight of -5. In my opinion, a movement of 5 is important, so this gelding falls into this category. Horse has improved at least two Equibase speed fig points in last two races. I look for that to continue to trend in a positive direction in this event.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 DANNY'S BAD ROY (ML=3/2), #1 STORMIN NAVARONE (ML=9/2), #8 MO ED WHO (ML=5/1),

DANNY'S BAD ROY - You think this animal is going to be first just because he's always close. Just doesn't get the job done frequently. STORMIN NAVARONE - This racer will probably need at least one more start after the lackluster showing following the long layoff.

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Sacramento Kings -4
The Phoenix Suns lost one of their two best players when they traded away Eric Bledsoe. Now they are without their other best player in Devin Booker due to a groin injury. Booker is their leading scorer at 24.3 points per game and is irreplaceable. It’s no surprise that they have lost three straight coming in without him. I think we are getting a discount with the Kings as only 4-point home favorites tonight. The Kings are 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Suns are 7-20-1 ATS in their last 28 games when playing on 2 days rest. The Kings are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games off a loss. Sacramento is 4-0 ATS in its last four vs. Western Conference. The Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last five trips to Sacramento. Phoenix is 5-14 ATS in its last 19 games vs. a team with a losing record. Give me the Kings.

10* FREE NBA PICK (Kings -4.5)
The Kings aren't a team that I will be looking to lay points with often this season, but I think it's worth a shot here to back Sacramento at home against the Suns. As far as records are concerned these are two equally bad teams, as Phoenix comes in at 9-19 and the Kings are 8-18. The big key here is that the Suns are without their best player in Devin Booker. However, they were at least competitive in their first two games without Booker, losing to the Wizards by just 10 and by a mere 3-points last time out against the Spurs. I think that has people a lot higher on this team than they should be. Keep in mind both of those games were at home, where the role players are going to help out a lot more. I think we see Phoenix really struggle here on the road without Bookie. Kings aren't a great team, there's no getting around that, but they are much better at home and I think we get a big effort here off an ugly 25-point home loss last time out to the Raptors. Give me Sacramento -4.5!

UW-Green Bay just lost to Missouri 100-77, in which the closing total was 143. Next, the Phoenix are at Indiana State and December road underdogs like UW-Green Bay having gone over the total by more than 30 points in their previous game are 7-32 ATS in next contest since 2013.

Play on: Knicks -3½ -102 at 5Dimes

Jack’s Free Pick Tuesday: New York Knicks -3.5
The New York Knicks have been grossly underrated when playing at home this season. They are 12-5 SU & 12-5 ATS at Madison Square Garden in 2017, outscoring opponents by 6.6 points per game on average. I think there is value with them as only 3.5-point home favorites over the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.
The Lakers are getting a lot of love after back-to-back road wins over Philadelphia and Charlotte. But this team is still just 4-8 SU & 5-7 ATS on the road this season, getting outscored by 5.0 points per game on average. Plays against any team (LA Lakers) - off two more more consecutive road wins, in December games are 71-33 (68.3%) ATS over the last five seasons.
Now the Lakers are in a tough spot here as this is their 3rd straight road game. And who do they have on deck? A road game against the Cleveland Cavaliers Thursday night, followed by a home game against Golden State. Don’t be surprised if the Lakers are overlooking the Knicks here tonight and looking ahead to those two huge showdowns with the Cavs and Warriors.
New York is 7-0 ATS in home games after having won two of their last three games this season. The Knicks are 6-1 ATS in their last seven vs. Western Conference opponents. The Lakers are 17-36-1 ATS in their last 54 games following a straight up in by more than 10 points. Bet the Knicks Tuesday.

#NHL FREE PICK FROM MIKE LUNDIN
The Columbus Blue Jackets are winners of two in a row and 10 of their last 13. They shut out the Coyotes Saturday night their last time out and have conceded just 1.88 gpg home at Nationwide Arena on the season. Columbus has won each of the last three meetings with the Edmonton Oilers who have alternated wins and losses through their last six games.
Tough spot for the Oilers who will be playing their third game in four nights and on one days rest while the Blue Jackets have had an extra day off. Blue Jackets are 22-6 in their last 28 games playing on two days rest and I think they'll turn up the intensity to run away with this game.
My free pick is on Columbus Blue Jackets.

Play on: Rutgers -10½ -105 at BMaker

Dave’s Tuesday Free Play:
1* on Rutgers -10.5
The Key: The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are one of the most improved teams in the country this season. They are off to an 8-3 start with their only 3 losses coming to Florida State, Minnesota and Michigan State. Six of their eight wins have come by 14 points or more. That should be the case against Fordham tonight, whose 4 wins this season have come against Long Island, Manhattan, Maine and St. Francise. This is a big step up in class for Fordham, and it will be their first true road game of the season. Rutgers beat Fordham 68-53 on a neutral court last season. These teams have a common opponent in Florida State. Rutgers only lost to FSU 78-73, while Fordham was crushed 43-67 by the Seminoles. Take Rutgers.

NCAA-B | Fordham vs Rutgers
Play on: UNDER 125½ -105

Fordham/Rutgers 7:00: Rutgers is inching its way back to respectability with HC Pikiell after Eddie Jordan nearly killed it. The Scarlett Knights are one of the top defensive teams in the nation allowing just 57.3 PPG. Fordham enters this game as one of the worst offensive teams in the nation (340th) and should get worked on the boards. However, Fordham does play good defense too as evidenced in their 34th ranking in points allowed. Rutgers is clearly offensive challenged with top scorer Corey Sanders averaging 13 PPG and little scoring support. Heavy "under" trends" on both teams going in to this one. Still value at 125.5 total. Under the call.

NBA | Nuggets vs Pistons
Play on: Nuggets +6 -110 at Bovada

Free Pick on Nuggets +
I like the value here with Denver as a decently priced road dog against the Pistons on Tuesday. Detroit is not playing well right now. The Pistons come in having lost 6 straight games, yet they are being overvalued here by the books because the Nuggets are without two of their best players in Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap. Those are two big losses, but Denver's got some other nice pieces in place and I look for them to give the Pistons a scare here and maybe even win this game outright.
Detroit is really struggling with their shot right now. They shot a mere 33.3% at home in their last game against the Celtics and have gone 6 straight games where they have shot 44% or worse from the floor. When the shots aren't falling that really makes it hard to blow teams out and I think we see those struggles keep them from covering here.
Last time out the Nuggets fell 116-126 at Indiana, but that actually is a positive for backing them here, as they are 22-10 ATS in their last 32 off a road loss. They are also 23-9 ATS in their last 32 road games when they come in having failed to cover 3 of their last 4 games. Take Denver!

ASA FREE PLAY ON Philadelphia Flyers Money Line (-) over Toronto Maple Leafs, Tuesday at 7:05 PM ET

With confirmation that Auston Matthews is out for this game, there is even more value than before with the streaking Flyers at a very affordable price on home ice. That makes Philadelphia absolutely worth a look here. The Flyers are back home after a much-needed 3-0 sweep of their road trip in Western Canada. Philly is also well-rested as they've been off since Thursday. While the Leafs have also won 3 straight games, they are in a tough spot here as they're playing their 3rd game in 4 nights. The Maple Leafs have lost 12 of 18 when on a winning streak of 3 or more games. Toronto also has lost 32 of 50 when they're off of a game where they were held to 1 goal or less. The Flyers stay HOT! FREE PLAY ON Philadelphia on the money line in early evening action Tuesday.
