Peace on earth, goodwill to men. Those sentiments don't hold when the Wizards and Celtics get together. This is their first matchup since their contentious Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series that went seven games. There's going to be a lot of intensity in this game. It's a day game, too. These are helpful factors to the Under. It's also a huge Under factor, too, that both teams are strong defensively. Boston ranks second in the NBA in scoring defense and defensive field goal percentage. Part of this is the Celtics' ranking in the bottom-five in tempo. The Celtics aren't going to get in a track meet against John Wall. Washington has scored fewer than 101 points in five of its last seven games. It's easy to think of Wall and his excellent backcourt mate, Bradley Beal, when talking about the Wizards. But Washington is better defensively than perceived. The Wizards rank No. 1 in 3-point defensive percentage and are eighth in defensive field goal percentage. During their last seven games, the Wizards have ranked in the top-five in defensvie efficiency. The Under has been a sneaky good play in Wizards games covering 73 percent of the time during their past 26 games.

This is a great spot for the Cavs to make a statement. They are rested, and they get a Golden State team without Steph Curry. Yes, we are well aware of the fact that this line is still showing how much Vegas respects the Warriors without Curry, but the Cavs are in a great situation to win this game outright. Not only is Curry not playing, but Draymond Green is banged up as well. Green will play, but you know the Cavs are aware of his elbow injury and he will take a few knocks throughout the game. The Warriors are in the midst of a long home stand, but this is their third game in four nights. Cleveland hasn't suited up since the 21st so rest won't be an issue. Cleveland is 7-2 ATS in their last nine games versus a team with a winning straight up record and 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 road games when playing against a team with a home winning percentage of .600 or better. The public is going to look at how the Warriors were just smacked by the Nuggets at home and they will feel that Golden State is mad...Don't buy in to that philosophy. The Warriors are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games coming off a loss of 10+ points and 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a double-digit loss at home. Take the Cavs in this big game as Golden State is 1-7 ATS in their last eight games versus a team with a winning percentage of .600 or better.

3-Unit Play. Take #706 Boston (-4.5) over Washington (5:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 25)

This could be the most "heated" game of Christmas Day, but that isn't always good for the Wizards. Washington is filled with young players that can lose their cool in big games, while the Celtics, even though young, will take advantage of the immaturity of the Wizards. This game is going to be close throughout. It is going to be the type of game where each team has a lead multiple times, but in the end the better team pulls away and wins out. Boston is 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 games coming off a straight up win of more than 10 points while the Wizards are 0-4 ATS in their last four games coming a straight up win. Take the favorite in this matchup as they are 13-3 in the last 16 meetings between the two teams.

3-Unit Play. Take #707 Houston (-1.5) over OKC (8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 25)

OKC is definitely better than their overall record, but Houston is going to bounce back from two poor performances over the last week. The Rockets team aspect is going to be too much for the Thunder in this game. James Harden loves to play against OKC and he is going to find success again tonight. The Rockets are good bounce back team after a bad loss at home. Houston is 4-0 ATS in their last four games coming off a double-digit loss on their home floor. Yes, they are headed to a tough place to play, but that isn't a big deal for Houston as they are 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games. Take the road favorite here as OKC is a paltry 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games. Yes, OKC has star power, but in the end the Rockets are just a better team.

3-Unit Play. Take #710 L.A. Lakers (+5.5) over Minnesota (10:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 25)

This is a real interesting game. The Wolves have the make up to be one of the best teams in the West, and at 20-13 straight up, they are leading the Northwest Division. The Lakers a young a confident team. We used the term interesting because at 11-20 many people struggle to see how the Lakers can be confident. Los Angeles knows that they can play with good teams as they have played a tough schedule over their last five contests. The Lakers are only 1-4 straight up in their last five games, but they have a win over the Rockets, two losses to the Warriors by a combined nine points, a loss to the Blazers by three, and a loss to the Cavs by nine. The Lakers haven't lost a game by double-figures since Dec. 3rd. This line is where its at because L.A. absolutey has the ability to keep this one close, which they will do, and quite possibly win this game outright.

3-Unit Play. #717. Take Under 136 Middle Tennessee vs. Miami (Monday @ 8:30pm est)

Nice spot here for Middle Tennessee to play to the Under as you have a team in Middle Tennessee who comes off giving up 89 points in their last game and let me put that in perspective, for a Kermit Davis Jr team to give up that many points is striking for a defensive coach who is a top 70 defense. This is a team that held Ole Miss to 58 points, Vanderbilt to 63 points on the road and Murray State to 67 points on the road as well. This is a Miami team that comes off shocking loss to New Mexico State team, who is angry at the world and who is a top 5 defensive team and as this game is one of the final ones on the board, look for a defensive contest here, a decent public fade and two angry teams coming in who will likely play quality defense as this game likely falls in the mid to late 120's here as it dips below the posted total. Let's roll with both these teams bouncing back in an indirect way as this game likley goes under the posted total as they go back to what they do well which is to play quality defense.

5-Unit Play. #706. Take Under 206.5 Boston Celtics vs. Washington Wizards (Monday @ 5:30pm est)

This will have all the playoff atmosphere you can ever expect for today as these two teams meet again. Boston put up 115 points the last time these two teams met and therefore the Wizards have to step up on defense and they likely do that here. Note, that the Wiz put up 130 points in their last game which the Celtics are well aware of and will take that as a challenge today. Also, note that Boston comes off a 117 points in their last game which the Wiz are well aware of as well. Hence, you have a Celtics team that is fantastic on the defensive side of the ball at home holding the Heat to 90 points, Mavs to 90, Raptors to 94 and what you have is a team that will focus on the defensive end as well as the Wizards who will do the same as the refs who will likely let these teams play and therefore look for the Under this early evening.


3-Unit Play. #710. Take Over 216 LA Lakers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves (Monday @ 10:30pm est)

Merry Christmas. Let's put a great NBA Run Together as long as we can put together a great run in a hurry and though we have started the season slow, all of our clients know it's only a matter of time before a great run happens and we are looking forward to doing that for our clients who we love working hard for. We roll with the Over here in what should be a high paced game between these two teams. This is the night cap between two young teams are on the rise but in the NBA it is always important to take note of injuries. Note that the Lakers will be without Ball in this game given his shoulder injury as well as Brandon Ingram and Lopez is still out. Without Ball, this forces Walton to roll with younger guards will want to run, run and run even more and consequently this sets up for a fast paced game with the Timberwolves who also want to run on Christmas and who also have revenge against the Lakers. We also like the 5 point line even without Ball for the Lakers as they likely will be an active underdog without him which can send this game over the posted total. Look for this to be a very fast paced game on Christmas that likely sends this game over the posted total this evening. Plus, we like that the Lakers scored 92 points in their last game as well as they likely bounce-back offensively here as well.
