These two teams were left out of the NCAA Tournament. They both have to be pretty angry about that. But I think that this game means more to Penn State. They would still love a chance to beat Notre Dame at anything. The public is all over the Irish in this one. But I will bet with the books and I will call for the outright upset.

Michigan is the Big Ten champions and I think that they will keep it rolling in this game. They won another blowout in their first game against Montana and that is now 10 straight wins and they are 9-1 ATS in those games. This team is on fire and they are one of the hottest teams in the country. Houston was lucky to escape their game against San Diego State. They have played several close games in the last week. I think that this team is going to be worn down. Michigan has had several weeks off to prepare for the NCAA Tournament and they will be fresher in the second half. The Wolverines are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 NCAA Tournament games and 35-17 ATS in their last 52 neutral site games. Michigan is 37-17 ATS in their last 54 games overall.
3-Unit Play. Take #536 Gonzaga (-3.5) over Ohio State (7:45 p.m., Saturday, March 17)
I will go with Gonzaga in this one. The Bulldogs played a tough game in the first round. Ohio State played a close game as well and they were lucky to advance against a tough SDSU team. Gonzaga has more experience and that will pay off here. Ohio State is 0-7 ATS in its last seven NCAA Tournament games. They are 5-22 ATS in their last 27 neutral site games and 0-5 ATS in nonconference games. Gonzaga will advance.
3-Unit Play. Take #538 Kentucky (-6) over Buffalo (5 p.m., Saturday, March 17)
Buffalo played a great game against Arizona on Thursday. I don't think that they will be able to do that again in this game. I have often seen teams pull big upsets in the first round and then have a letdown in their next game and get blown out. That is what I think will happen in this game. Kentucky is on a roll right now. They are playing their best basketball of the season. They are 8-1 SU and ATS in their last nine games and they are 4-0 ATS in their last four games.

We like the Over here today despite the fact the total seems a bit high. Note that you have a Minnesota team that beat San Antonio 98-86 last time out and the Spurs seek a little revenge here. The Spurs have played high quality defense over their last few games but they likely have a let down against a Minnesota team who will want to push the tempo here without Jimmy Butler and who have been winning games despite not having a strong defensive presence. Minnesota has scored 108, 109, 109 and 116 in their last 4 games and with the Spurs coming off back to back quality defensive efforts, look for them to have a small let down here as the Twolves are likely to be a good active underdog without Butler and you have a Spurs team that will want to score more than 86 points the last time out when they faced this team. Hence, look for the Over here between these squads tonight.

Tonight's Winner and Rating: 100 Dime GONZAGA BULLDOGS

Analysis: Ohio State eventually pulled away from South Dakota State, but I was not impressed with the Buckeyes one bit.


I am still of the belief the Buckeyes - and the rest of the contingent from the Big 10 Conference - will be rusty after playing their conference tournaments two weeks back. They played in New York City, then went home to rest for an extra week, and now they are at their sites.


The Buckeyes, who have failed to over 22 of 27 on neutral courts and are on a 0-7 ATS skid in this event - have played just twice since Feb. 23, and now they take on the West Coast Conference powerhouse that has a lot more offensive prowess than the Jackrabbits.


And lest we forget, Gonzaga handed Ohio State its most lopsided loss of the season, an 86-59 destruction in the Buckeyes' fifth game of the season. Sure, they're a different team now, but if you're telling me they're better, you need to recognize the Bulldogs' improvement.


And I don't know if the Buckeyes have enough offense to hang with Gonzaga, a team with a positional size, something Ohio State struggles with at both ends of the floor.


The Buckeyes, who have failed to cover five straight non-conference games, may see spurts of competitiveness, but the Bulldogs aren't going to waste much time with Ohio State, and should pull away for the win and cover.

Should be a fantastic defensive battle tonight in Wichita, Kansas and tonight I see the Michigan Wolverines getting past the Houston Cougars. Michigan comes into this game red-hot winning 10-straight games and 12 out 13 and the Wolverines defense is the big reason why they have had great success as of late. On Thursday Michigan held Montana to only 47 points and 32% shooting from the field. If Houston struggles tonight to score then I see another Michigan 'W' and wouldn't shock me to see another double-digit victory. Michigan is 10-4-2 ATS in their last 16 NCAA Tournament games and the Wolverines are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games.

Talk about a nice second round matchup tonight at the Taco Bell Arena in Boise, Idaho as the Ohio St Buckeyes face off against the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Ohio St took care of business against the Jackrabbits of South Dakota St but didn't get the cover and the Buckeyes have had trouble covering the spread going 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games. Gonzaga had a tough time on Thursday against UNCG only beating them by 4-points but tonight I see the size of the Zags taking over this game in the second half. Throw in that the Buckeyes are also 0-7 ATS in their last 7 NCAA Tournament games and tonight the Zags will advance to the Sweet 16.

The San Antonio Spurs play their 3rd straight home and will be looking for the 3rd straight win. This year for the Spurs that is rare but what is not rare is the San Antonio Spurs games going UNDER the total. The Spurs are trending UNDER games as of late going a perfect 6-Straight UNDERS and their last two home games the Spurs defense has held the Pelicans to 93 points and the Magic to 72 points. I know the Timberwolves offense has been rolling as of late but if the Spurs play Spurs ball tonight this game flies UNDER and wouldn't shock me to see the Spurs win their 3rd straight game. Minnesota is 3-9 O/U against Southwest division teams and the Spurs are 0-5 O/U against Northwest division teams.

This pick falls into one of my top CBB systems and I have this game flying over the posted total tonight given the way that these two teams match-up against each other. Kansas has averaged 81.3 ppg this season while shooting 49.6% as a team and they have shot 40.3% as a team from beyond the arc this season. Those numbers by Kansas came against opponents allowing just 43.8% against overall and just 34.5% from beyond the arc which make the Jayhawks offensive stats that much more impressive. Seton Hall has averaged 79.5 ppg this season while shooting 46.9% as a team and they have shot 37.4% as a team from beyond the arc this season. The Pirates have allowed an average of 79.2 ppg on the road this season and that was against teams that are not as good offensively as Kansas. The O/U is 7-1-1 for the Pirates in their last 9 NCAA Tournament games and the O/U is 9-2 for the Pirates in their last 11 games overall. The O/U is 4-1 for the Jayhawks in their last 5 games when playing a team with a win rate above .600 and the O/U is 6-1 for the Jayhawks in their last 7 games after covering the spread in their previous game.
