Detroit Tigers @ Chicago White Sox
The White Sox will hope their hitters can keep their hot start going when they welcome division-rivals Detroit to Guaranteed Rate Field. Chicago leads the major leagues with 14 home runs in five contests and should feel confident in taking on Jordan Zimmermann with the 31-year-old coming off a career-worst 6.08 ERA in 2017. In his opening to this season he allowed four runs on six hits and he hasn’t fared particularly well in shutting down the White Sox in the past. Last season, he recorded a 6.19 ERA in three games against Chicago with Jose Abreu going 8-for-15 against him. We have a good lean on the White Sox taking the opener in this one and our projections have them scoring well once more in this one. Take the home side and the team total here.

Chicago Cubs @ Milwaukee Brewers
The Cubs haven’t quite their straps as yet. Jon Lester will be hoping to improve on his slow start on opening day by putting in a better shift against the Brewers – something he has done well in the past. The left-hander owns a 2.77 ERA against the Brewers in six career outings against them, and while he has earned a reputation for starting the season slow we feel we’re getting a good price with him at the mound here. Milwaukee will send another lefty to the mound in Brent Suter after he earned a win on his season opener despite giving up three runs and five hits in five innings against the Padres. While the 28-year-old has fared well at home he does own a 3.14 ERA against the Cubs in six appearances against them (two of those were starts). The Cubs possess far more talent than the Padres and we truly believe we’re getting the Cubs at a price better than this team represents.
