Brad Stevens continues to get the most out of his roster and the team are being helped by the Bucks clear lack of interest on the defensive end of the court.
Boston’s issues certainly lie in their inability to string together strong offensive possessions for a full 48 minutes but those flaws are being made to look extinct by Milwaukee’s lack of commitment on defence.
In both games so far the Celtics have simply out-hustled and out-enthused this Bucks’ team – and that’s something we don’t see stopping simply because Milwaukee are back on their home court.
Effort is what defines this Celtics team and to think we’re getting +6.0 on a team that is more committed and united as a team is simply remarkable.
Outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kris Middleton there’s simply no one on this roster that has looked like stepping up and contributing on offence either, which is a huge problem for Joe Prunty given what he’s getting on defence from them.
Eric Bledsoe, who has been embarrassed by Terry Rozier so far (just don’t ask him who that is), has written the storyline for this one already and that sort of attention is not what he needs given the way he’s played this series.
Bledsoe is averaging 10.5 points and with Stevens showing he’s happy to let Antetokounmpo and even Middleton get theirs, it’s the contribution of Bledsoe, Tony Snell and Jabari Parker that become crucial.
Our data is pointing heavily in favour of Boston to cover this generous start and we wouldn’t be surprised to see this number plummet overnight. Sharp money and public money are both on the same side here, and for good reason.
Back the better team that’s better suited to playoff basketball to get this one done.

Kansas City Royals @ Detroit Tigers – Game 1
Detroit were super impressive in sweeping the Orioles in their last series and will be pleased with how their hitters are swinging at the moment. The Tigers put up 23 runs in their three games against Baltimore and are now averaging 5.67 runs per game at home this year. They now get to take on the worst bullpen in the MLB. The Royals relief pitchers have a horrendous 7.94 ERA on the season and will have a tough time supporting Jakob Junis in this one – especially if their starter yields similar results to last season. Despite going 2-1 against Detroit in 2017, Junis recorded a 6.75 ERA against them and will have a tough time slowing them down on the road. We feel the Tigers are being heavily overpriced in this one and love the value on offer here. Our data has a strong lean on Detroit and we’re happy to invest big here.

Minnesota Twins @ Tamps Bay Rays
The Rays are coming off a good series win over the Rangers and will look to build on that when they welcome Minnesota to Tropicana Field. Chris Archer has looked a long way from his usual self so far this year but will no doubt relish the chance to pitch against a team he’s dominated throughout his career. His opposite, Lance Lynn, has shown his best and worst at the mound this season and is somewhere in-between that in his career against the Rays. In his three career appearances against Tampa Bay, Lynn is 0-1 with a 3.77 ERA. The Twins asked a lot of their relief pitchers in their 16-innning marathon against the Indians and while they would’ve relished a day off it’ll be interesting to see what kind of support Lynn gets on the road in this one. As a team, the Twins relievers hold a 3.05 ERA and with the home side finding some form at the plate in their most recent series we feel there’s a really good price on offer on this team total. The Rays have scored over this number in four of their last five overall, and in five of their last six against the Twins.
