DESPITE a winning day overall to start the month we’re disappointed with our MLB results for our members to start the month.
There’s plenty of time to turn things around, but let’s get to it from the get-go:
Kansas City Royals @ Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox broke out the bats once again in claiming their series opener against the Royals and will hope to do so again behind ace pitcher Chris Sale. Despite not getting off to his best start to a season, Sale is still holding opponents to a .203 batting average. That doesn’t bode well for a team that is still struggling to bring runners home, with the team averaging just 3.15 runs per game on the road this season. The Royals will also hope for a better outing from Jakob Junis this time out after he was hit for five home runs in just five innings pitched against the White Sox. While he has had a better time on the road this year (going 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA) there’s no way we see him halting this Red Sox lineup and keeping them quiet. Our projections have Boston winning this one by 3.6 runs and we feel the run line is still well priced given the disparity on the mound and at the plate.

Milwaukee Brewers @ Cincinatti Reds
The Brewers were allowed to find their offensive groove once more as the Reds pitching staff failed to keep their ice cold bats in the freezer. Now that their offensive slumps look set to be put behind them the Brewers will look to put together another streak and get back to being one of the in-form teams in the majors. Milwaukee will send ace pitcher Chase Anderson to the mound and will hope he can continue his excellent showing on the road this season. The veteran is 1-1 with a 0.93 ERA in three starts away from Miller Park and should feel confident facing a Cincinatti team that he’s gone 2-1 with a 2.68 ERA against in seven career meetings. Meanwhile, Homer Bailey continues to struggle – as evidence in his 0-3 record and 4.19 ERA on the season. He hasn’t fared much better against the Brewers in the past either, owning a 4.65 ERA against them in 26 appearances. The value here is again too good to overlook and our data has a huge lean on Milwaukee taking the second-game in this series as well.

We roll with the Pelicans here as we are aware that Curry will be back this game and we are aware that each time he comes back from injury he averages around 28 to 30 points per game. Having said, will the Pelicans really shoot as bad as they did in game 1 and also have a lapse in defense like they did in Game 1? This is a team that did beat GS at GS earlier this year when they needed a must win game to get into the playoffs and this is the same situation. This is a must win for them. New Orleans stars did not play well last game and they likely play much better here. Holliday was just 4/14 from the field and Davis was 9/20 scoring just 21 points while the team shot 32% from 3 point land. The Pelicans only went to the free throw line 11 times versus Golden State's 32 times as well which was pointed out by several Pelican players. Look for a highly motivated Davis, Holliday, Mirtoic (only 9 points) and Pelican team overall especially on the defensive end to bounce-back. Remember this team was out rebounded by +15 as well and New Orleans is 9th in the league in opposing field goal percentage and opposing 3 point percentage and that improves today. Pelicans bounce-back today as they are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games and the Warriors are 2-8 ATS after an ATS win their last game.

You have a pitcher in Estrada who is now in his mid 30's and has had 3 straight non-quality starts and it is a sight for sore eyes for the Twins hitters. He has given up 14 runs in 14 innings, 4 homeruns in his last 2 starts and at least 1 homerun in 8 of his last 9 starts.
