# 5 GRASSARLA 7/5

# 3 AQUARIUS 5/1

# 2 COLONIAL LASS 6/1

GRASSARLA looks very good to best this field. With Davila aboard her, this mare will almost certainly be able to break out sharply in here. Must be considered here on the basis of the figures in the speed department alone. Has a strong shot for this event if you like back class. COLONIAL LASS - Decent selection to take this race going in a dirt sprint. I can't pass on this filly given one of the strongest rider and conditioner combos on the grounds.

Louisiana Downs - Race #5 - Post: 5:09pm - Maiden Special - 7.5 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $18,000 Class Rating: 69

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#5 N. D. FREE (ML=6/1)
#4 MISS BILLIE K (ML=5/1)
#8 BLUSHING KITTEN (ML=20/1)

N. D. FREE - Dominguez comes to race after getting to know the filly in the last event. This filly is back in a race very quick. This is a great angle - Sprinters that come back in less than 10 days after a race. A good sign of a sharp and ready racehorse. MISS BILLIE K - This first time turf runner is going to give these horses a run for their money. She came in second in her try on a sluggish track on Feb 10th. Should like the turf. Looking at today's Equibase class figure, this horse is up against an easier group than last out at Fair Grounds. This animal collects a lot of money per race. I believe she can increase the lifetime earnings today. BLUSHING KITTEN - Looking at today's class figure, this horse is up against an easier bunch than last race out at Fair Grounds. I'm focusing on the class of this magnificent animal, and this one is the 'classiest' of the bunch.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 SKY ENTRY (ML=5/2), #1 STAR PERFORMER (ML=7/2), #6 HUMOROUS KITTEN (ML=5/1),

SKY ENTRY - 5/2 is not worth the risk for any horse in a sprint of 7 1/2 furlongs that hasn't hit the board in a sprint event of late. STAR PERFORMER - Should have at least finished in the money in the last sixty days in a short distance event to be any kind of value at low odds in a sprint. Most unsatisfactory speed figure last out at Fair Grounds at 1 mile 70 yards. Don't think this pony will improve too much in today's race. HUMOROUS KITTEN - A pattern of declining speed figures 61/48/41 for this entrant. This horse ran a pedestrian speed fig last time around the track. She shouldn't run better and will likely suffer defeat in today's race running that rating.

# 4 HEAVENLY QUEST 6/1

# 1 MIRABELLE MAGIC 8/1

# 7 LUCKY STIFF 6/1

I like HEAVENLY QUEST here. This filly looks like a live longshot. Solid average Equibase Speed Figs in dirt sprint races make this equine a solid choice. She has been racing soundly recently while recording strong Equibase Speed Figures. MIRABELLE MAGIC - Should come out very solid - I have liked the way this filly has moved quickly to the lead recently. Is difficult not to examine based on Equibase Speed Figs which have been competitive - 51 avg - of late. LUCKY STIFF - Has ran soundly in dirt sprint races. The rapid return to the track points to a sound effort this time around.

#6 ROAN FEATHERS (ML=3/1)

ROAN FEATHERS - I like when a pony wins after shipping in from elsewhere. It shows that they really like the track here. I'll take this mare to win again. Puhl brings her back again. I recommend you stay with this hot mare.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 DUCHESS OF DUKE (ML=9/5), #1 VALENTINE NIGHT (ML=4/1), #4 BOSSY B (ML=6/1),

DUCHESS OF DUKE - Didn't end up on the board on December 28th at Gulfstream Park. Followed it up with another lackluster outing. VALENTINE NIGHT - I cannot play this confirmed non-winner. Gets the job finished now and then. May bounce off of that last extreme effort. BOSSY B - I can't play this confirmed non-winner. Gets the assignment fulfilled once in a while. Improbable that the speed fig she recorded on May 1st will hold up in this race.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

14th May 2018 by Gracenote
marcus morris and his boston teammates got the best of lebron james in the opener of the eastern conference finals. the second-seeded celtics look to stymie the cleveland star for the second consecutive contest when they host the fourth-seeded cavaliers on tuesday in game 2 of the best-of-seven series.

morris helped hold james to 15 points on 5-of-16 shooting as boston roared to a 26-point halftime advantage en route to a 108-83 torching of cleveland in sunday's series opener. morris moved into the starting lineup and had 21 points and 10 rebounds after boasting prior to the opener that he is one of the best in the nba at defending james. "it's a team effort, man, it's not just me," morris told reporters after the easy victory. "everybody played their part in guarding him. he's obviously the best player in the game, and you need multiple guys and a team to guard him an entire game. i just think we did a great job of that." cavaliers veteran swingman kyle korver summed up the performance this way: "bad game, bad first game. there's lot of things we can do better in the next one."
tv: 8:30 p.m. et, espn
about the cavaliers: james also committed seven turnovers during his porous performance but he said he wasn't worried about his team trailing in the series. "i have zero level of concern at this stage," james told reporters. "i didn't go to college, so it's not march madness. you know, you get better throughout the series. you see ways you can get better throughout the series. but i've been down 0-1, i've been down 0-2, i've been down before in the postseason. but for me, there's never no level of concern, no matter how bad i played tonight with seven turnovers, how inefficient i was shooting the ball." james had plenty of company in the subpar shooting category as cleveland shot 36 percent from the field, including a woeful 4-of-26 from 3-point range.
about the celtics: morris was one of three boston players to reach the 20-point mark in the opener as shooting guard jaylen brown recorded 23 points and eight rebounds and center al horford had 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting. but the decision to elevate morris into the starting power forward spot was the big difference-maker as a player who was just 18-of-59 shooting in the five-game series against philadelphia made 7-of-12 shots and effectively hounded james. "he was able to really force the issue in the offensive end and make lebron exert so much energy because then he has to come down and really guard him," backup point guard marcus smart told reporters. "can't take plays off against really good players."

buzzer beaters

1. celtics sf jayson tatum scored 16 points in game 1 to halt his franchise rookie record of seven straight games of 20 or more points.

2. cleveland pf/c kevin love (17 points) was just 5-of-14 shooting in the opener after averaging 25 points on 26-of-48 shooting over the previous three playoff games.

3. boston pg terry rozier had just eight points in game 1 but also had eight assists against just one turnover.

prediction: cavaliers 113, celtics 107

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Washington Capitals Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

14th May 2018 by Gracenote
the suddenly struggling tampa bay lightning look to begin digging out of a deep hole in the eastern conference final series when they visit the red-hot washington capitals for game 3 on tuesday night. the lightning dropped the first two games of the series at home by a combined score of 10-4 and a team has not rebounded from down 2-0 to win a conference final since pittsburgh beat boston in 1991.

"i'm confident in our group," tampa bay coach jon cooper told reporters monday. "they've got 113 points (in the regular season) for a reason. ... they've got a ton of experience, and when their backs have been against the wall, they've shown the propensity to fight back. this is a tough one. we lost two at home and it's definitely not an ideal situation. but we're not done. it's not over." washington lost the first two games at home in the first-round series against columbus, but won four in a row to move on and are 10-2 in the last 12 games after scoring the final five goals of sunday's 6-2 triumph. the capitals have scored seven of their 10 goals at even strength and tampa bay, which dominated boston while playing 5-on-5 in the semifinal series, has scored three of its four on the power play in the opening two contests. "it's huge, but it's not over yet," washington captain alex ovechkin, who scored in each of the first two games, told reporters. "we're going to (have to) come back home and do our thing and take another one. it's going to be hard. they have tremendous players over there and we just have to play the same way and don't give them anything."
tv: 8 p.m. et, nbc sports network, cbc, sportsnet, tva
about the lightning: the team has plenty of confidence in vezina finalist andrei vasilevskiy, who has allowed 10 goals in five periods of hockey during this series with little help from his defense after posting a .927 save percentage in the first two rounds. "we all have tremendous belief in him, and he's a rock for our team," tampa bay defenseman anton stralman told reporters. "he's going to be back and be his best. we're not making his job easier by executing our game plan defensively and offensively. the scoring chances are way up compared to the previous series and that's on us, not him." captain steven stamkos has scored in four of his last five games while compiling seven points in that stretch.
about the capitals: lars eller is prospering after moving up to the second-line center role with nicklas backstrom (hand) missing the last three games, recording two goals and two assists in the first two contests of this series. "he's got all the qualities of a playoff-type player," washington coach barry trotz told reporters of eller. "he's big. he's strong. he's got some experience. he's very competitive. he's got a good skill level. he's playing to his ability right now. ... he's one of the guys that's stepped up in a major way for us." ovechkin, who shares the team lead with kuznetsov at 19 points in the playoffs, is the second washington player to reach 10 goals in a postseason run by joining john druce (14 in 1990).
overtime

1. washington d john carlson has three assists in the series and 13 points in the playoffs, most by a capitals blue liner in team history.

2. tampa bay d victor hedman boasts a seven-game point streak, passing martin st. louis (2004) for the franchise playoff record.

3. the capitals are 0-2 in their playoff history when winning the first two games of a series on the road, including a loss to tampa bay in 2003.

prediction: capitals 4, lightning 2

Colorado Rockies vs. San Diego Padres Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

colorado rockies rookie noel cuevas belted his first career home run on monday, hours after learning that he would be starting at second base for injured starter dj lemahieu. cuevas figures to be in the lineup again tuesday as the rockies conclude their brief two-game set against the host san diego padres.

the 26-year-old cuevas batted second in monday's 6-4 victory while filling in for lemahieu, who was hitting .279 with five home runs and 13 rbis before landing on the disabled list with a sprained left thumb that could require surgery. "we're concerned about it,'" manager bud black told reporters. "we're trying to be optimistic on this one, but we will have to wait and see." the rockies opened their nine-game road trip with three home runs among their 11 hits against san diego, which lost for the fifth time in its last eight games despite a strong showing from shortstop freddy galvis, who went 3-for-4 and came within a homer of hitting for the cycle. the padres purchased the contract of outfielder franmil reyes from triple-a el paso prior to the game and promptly inserted him into the starting lineup, where he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts from the sixth spot in the order.
tv: 3:40 p.m. et, at&t sportsnet rocky mountain (colorado), fs san diego
pitching matchup: rockies rh german marquez (2-4, 5.35 era) vs. padres rh jordan lyles (0-1, 3.28)

marquez lost for the third time in his last four starts last thursday against milwaukee, allowing five runs on 12 hits across 4 2/3 innings. the 23-year-old has recorded a 10.34 era in four home starts compared to a 1.96 era in four outings away from coors field. marquez is 2-1 with a 5.48 era in six career games (four starts) against san diego, including 1-1 with an 8.03 era in three career games (two starts) at petco park.
lyles moved into the rotation last thursday in place of struggling bryan mitchell and earned another start after limiting st. louis to two runs (one earned) over five frames. the 27-year-old, who played for colorado from 2014-17 before being released last august, began the season by holding opponents scoreless in 10 of his 13 relief appearances. carlos gonzalez is 7-for-13 with two home runs against lyles, who owns an 0-3 record and 6.07 era in 10 career games (four starts) against his former team.
walk-offs

1. padres 3b christian villanueva snapped an 0-for-37 slump with a fourth-inning single on monday.

2. the rockies recalled inf pat valaika from triple-a albuquerque to take lemahieu's place on the roster.
3. san diego optioned 2b carlos asuaje to triple-a el paso.

New York Yankees vs. Washington Nationals Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

14th May 2018 by Gracenote
the washington nationals have emerged from their early-season doldrums in a big way and will put their hot streak to the test when they host the powerful new york yankees in an intriguing two-game interleague matchup beginning tuesday in the nation's capital. a four-game sweep at the first-place arizona diamondbacks gave the nationals 13 victories in their last 15 games after they opened the year 11-16.

the yankees have been just as hot, winning 19 of 22, including a 6-2 triumph sunday afternoon behind giancarlo stanton, who went 4-for-4 with a home run and three rbis. "up and down the lineup, we can hurt you a lot of different ways," center fielder brett gardner told reporters. "it seems like a different guy every day. today it was big g coming through." the nationals have relied a bit more on their outstanding pitching, although mark reynolds shined in his season debut with a pair of homers in sunday's 6-4 win over the diamondbacks. gio gonzalez has been a stalwart in the rotation for washington but carries a 1-5 record and a 6.65 era in eight career starts against the yankees into the series opener opposite new york's masahiro tanaka.
tv: 7:05 p.m. et, yes (new york), masn (washington)
pitching matchup: yankees rh masahiro tanaka (4-2, 4.66 era) vs. nationals lh gio gonzalez (4-2, 2.22)

tanaka gave up four runs and a season-high eight hits in 5 1/3 innings against boston his last time out, also tying a season low with three strikeouts. the 29-year-old has yet to get through seven innings after doing so 13 times in 2017. tanaka won his only prior start against washington with seven innings of one-run ball at yankee stadium in 2015.
gonzalez has allowed one run or fewer in five of his eight starts, including three straight - the latest of which saw him strike out a season high-tying eight batters in six innings. the 32-year-old has surrendered one home run in 44 2/3 innings on the season. stanton is 6-for-31 with no home runs and nine strikeouts against gonzalez, who is 10-13 with a 4.50 era in interleague action.
walk-offs

1. new york is beginning a stretch in which it plays 19 of 25 on the road.

2. washington rf bryce harper was 5-for-18 with a home run and two doubles in the sweep of arizona after going 0-for-16 with five strikeouts over his previous four contests.

3. the yankees have a 15-13 lead in the all-time series but the nationals won three of four when they last played in 2015.

Chicago White Sox vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

14th May 2018 by Gracenote
the chicago white sox have dropped 27 of their first 37 games with much more losing expected on the horizon during a rebuilding season, but there are some lights at the end of the tunnel with matt davidson perhaps the brightest. the 27-year-old designated hitter tries to homer in his third straight contest when chicago begins a two-game series tuesday against the pirates in pittsburgh.

"it's fun when you see everyone on the team contributing and playing how we think we can play,'' davidson told reporters after belting his team-leading 11th home run in sunday's 5-3 victory over the cubs - the white sox's second win in their last 13 games. "it's pretty cool. obviously, we come here to win every day, and after the last couple of losses we had, it's a good win." the pirates are coming off a 5-0 loss to san francisco on sunday, snapping a five-game winning streak that included a pair of victories over the white sox. pittsburgh (23-17) is also supposed to be in rebuilding mode but finds itself in a four-team scrimmage with milwaukee, st. louis and the cubs for the national league central lead. the pirates' trevor williams opposes reynaldo lopez in a rematch from wednesday, when neither earned a decision as the pirates scored four times in the ninth to win 6-5 and cap a sweep of the two-game set in chicago.
tv: 7:05 p.m. et, nbcs chicago, at&t sportsnet-pittsburgh
pitching matchup: white sox rh reynaldo lopez (0-2, 2.44 era) vs. pirates rh trevor williams (4-2, 3.13)

lopez pitched a career-high 7 1/3 innings wednesday, allowing two runs (solo homers to jordy mercer and gregory polanco), three hits and two walks with six strikeouts. the 24-year-old dominican has yielded more than two earned runs only once in seven starts with a 1.13 whip and .198 batting average against this season. lopez is 1-0 with a 1.42 era in two games (one start) versus pittsburgh.
williams permitted four runs, seven hits and two walks while striking out three in five innings wednesday, marking the second straight outing and third time in eight starts this season he didn't reach the sixth frame. the 26-year-old californian, who was facing chicago for the first time, allowed two-run homers to tim anderson and rookie daniel palka. williams, whose era went up .50 after his last start, boasts a 1.17 whip and .213 batting average against.
walk-offs

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Baltimore Orioles Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

14th May 2018 by Gracenote
the philadelphia phillies have shown they can step to the plate at citizens bank park, with their recent 5-1 homestand improving their mark to 16-6 in the city of brotherly love. the phillies have dropped six of their last nine outside the city limits, however, as they head down i-95 to begin a six-game road trip on tuesday with the opener of an abbreviated two-game series versus the baltimore orioles.

after initially providing pennies on the dollar, carlos santana has started paying significant dividends on the three-year, $60 million contract he signed in the offseason. the 32-year-old dominican went deep in philadelphia's 4-2 triumph over the new york mets on sunday, marking his fifth homer in nine outings while improving to 12-for-37 with 16 rbis and eight runs scored in that stretch. baltimore has discovered its offense while taking three of four from tampa bay, as the club belted four of its dozen homers in the series in sunday's emphatic 17-1 romp over the rays. "there's really no explanation for why april went the way it did," said danny valencia, who homered to highlight a career high-tying four-hit performance.
tv: 7:05 p.m. et, nbcs philadelphia, masn2 (baltimore)
pitching matchup: phillies rh nick pivetta (2-2, 4.15 era) vs. orioles rh andrew cashner (1-4, 4.84)

pivetta answered a brutal outing with one of his best of the season on wednesday, scattering four hits and striking out seven over five scoreless innings in an 11-3 romp over san francisco. the 25-year-old british columbia native, who emerged victorious for the first time since april 5, had been blitzed for six runs - including two homers - in one inning in his previous start. pivetta and the rest of the phillies starters have stepped up their game this month, with the group posting a 1.99 era with 67 strikeouts in 11 games while holding opponents to a .209 batting average.
cashner received his second straight no-decision and saw his winless stretch extend to six outings (0-3) on wednesday despite allowing three runs on six hits in six innings versus kansas city. the 31-year-old was taken deep for the fifth straight outing against the royals, raising his home run total to 10 in 44 2/3 innings after surrendering just 15 in 166 2/3 frames in 2017. cesar hernandez (5-for-11, four walks) and odubel herrera (6-for-14, two homers) have taken cashner to task, but the right-hander sports a 4-1 career mark versus the phillies.
walk-offs

1. herrera has reached base in 41 consecutive games, which is tied with pete rose (1982) and don hurst (1929) for the fifth-longest streak in phillies' franchise history.
2. orioles 3b manny machado is 9-for-24 with four homers, 11 rbis and eight runs scored in his last six games.

3. philadelphia 3b maikel franco has answered a seven-game hitting streak with a 1-for-11 rut with three strikeouts in his last three contests.

the boston red sox have dipped back into second place in the american league east for just the second time since the beginning of april. they will try to bounce back from a homestand-opening loss to the oakland athletics when the teams continue a three-game series at fenway park on tuesday.

the athletics utilized three solo homers and 11 hits overall to take the series opener 6-5 on monday, dropping the red sox to 11-11 since their 17-2 start and a half-game behind the idle new york yankees in the division. j.d. martinez homered among two hits for boston and the slugger has gone deep in six of his last 12 games while pushing his average to .346. he will take aim at oakland right-hander daniel mengden, who owns a 2.95 era over his past 13 starts dating to last season. the red sox turn to eduardo rodriguez in the middle game of the set as they look to snap a three-game losing streak against the athletics.

Cleveland Indians vs. Detroit Tigers Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

15th May 2018 by Gracenote
the detroit tigers finally ended a long losing streak in the series against their american league central rivals and can creep within one game of first place when they host the cleveland indians on tuesday night. the tigers had dropped 11 in a row against the indians, including four by a combined score of 18-5 this year, before rookie niko goodrum belted a pair of homers and knocked in five for a 6-3 win monday.

detroit is without two-time mvp miguel cabrera (hamstring), while promising third baseman jeimer candelario (wrist) was placed on the 10-day disabled list monday; outfielder nicholas castellanos (finger) has also missed the last two games, but he could return during the series. the tigers have still won three of four and hope to improve on that with left-hander francisco liriano on the mound tuesday against cleveland right-hander josh tomlin, whose only solid start this season was against detroit on april 10 when he permitted four hits in five scoreless innings. the indians (20-20) dropped back to .500 after leaving eight on base in the series opener and not building on a jose ramirez solo homer in the top of the first inning. cleveland's all-star shortstop francisco lindor extended his career-long hitting streak to 15 games with a ninth-inning run-scoring single monday and boasts eight homers and 16 rbis during his run.

pitching matchup: indians rh josh tomlin (0-4, 8.06 era) vs. tigers lh francisco liriano (3-1, 3.35)
tomlin pitched a season-high seven innings in last time out against the new york yankees on may 4, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks in a no-decision. the 33-year-old texan has given up at least five runs in four of his five starts in 2018, yielding 13 homers over 25 2/3 innings overall. castellanos is 10-for-31 with a homer versus tomlin, who is 7-6 with a 4.87 era in 17 games (13 starts) against the tigers.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Miami Marlins Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

14th May 2018 by Gracenote
the dodgers are off to their worst 40-game start since beginning the 1958 season - their first in los angeles - with a 15-25 mark as they open a six-game road trip tuesday against the miami marlins. the dodgers (16-24) are coming off a four-game sweep at the hands of cincinnati, the worst team in the national league, and have lost seven of their last eight, but help is on the way for the defending national league champions.

"this might be more difficult to turn the page after losing four to the reds at home," los angeles manager dave roberts told reporters. "i just want to clear this from my mind." the mood is sure to improve when third baseman justin turner (.303 in four years with the dodgers) and second baseman logan forsythe (shoulder) return from the disabled list tuesday, marking the season debut for turner (fractured wrist). miami (14-26) has lost six of its last seven games, including three of four against atlanta to start its seven-game homestand, and - as expected - sits last in the nl east. los angeles' alex wood makes his ninth start in search of his first victory of the season and opposes wei-yin chen, who gave up a career-high nine runs in his last outing.
tv: 7:10 p.m. et, sportsnet la (los angeles), fs florida (miami)
pitching matchup: dodgers lh alex wood (0-3, 3.60 era) vs. marlins rh wei-yin chen (1-2, 10.22)

wood earned his fifth no-decision of the young season after allowing one run, five hits and three walks while striking out four in five innings of los angeles' 6-3 victory over arizona on wednesday, improving the dodgers to 4-4 in his outings. the 27-year-old north carolina native has recorded only three quality starts this season but yielded more than three runs only twice. starlin castro is 5-for-7 versus wood, who is 6-3 with a 2.73 era in 13 games (10 starts) against miami.
chen also allowed seven hits and two walks in three innings of a 13-4 loss to the cubs in chicago on wednesday, prompting manager don mattingly to tell reporters: "he didn't miss any bats." the 32-year-old native of taiwan was making his third start of the season after recovering from a strained left elbow. forsythe is batting .393 with three homers, two doubles, a triple and six rbis in 28 at-bats versus chen, who is 2-0 with a 2.13 era in two starts versus the dodgers.
walk-offs

1. c yasmani grandal leads los angeles in home runs (six) and rbis (24) after belting a solo shot sunday.

2. marlins 3b brian anderson (finger) and ss miguel rojas (wrist) are day-to-day after leaving sunday's 4-3 loss to atlanta in the eighth inning.
3. the teams have split their last 14 meetings since 2016 with miami winning the series 6-1 that season and the dodgers returning the favor in 2017.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Mets Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

14th May 2018 by Gracenote
the new york mets and toronto blue jays have followed their rapid ascents in the standings with pronounced declines, relegating both to just one win over .500. the mets have answered an 11-1 start with losses in 17 of 25 contests heading into tuesday's opener of an abbreviated two-game interleague series against the visiting blue jays, who have dropped seven of their last 10.

asdrubal cabrera has five two-hit performances in his last eight outings, including in both contests of new york's two-game split in philadelphia. yoenis cespedes highlighted his two-hit showing with a solo homer in sunday's 4-2 setback versus the phillies, but he is just 1-for-8 with three strikeouts versus tuesday starter jaime garcia. toronto may be happy to cross the border after dropping eight of its last 11 home games following sunday's 5-3 setback against boston. russell martin, who collected three hits in that contest to match his sum total over his previous seven games, will face tuesday starter noah syndergaard for the first time in his career.

tv: 7:10 p.m. et, sportsnet one (toronto), sny (new york)
pitching matchup: blue jays lh jaime garcia (2-2, 5.40 era) vs. mets rh noah syndergaard (2-1, 3.09)
garcia kept the ball in the park for the first time this season on wednesday, but five walks drove up his pitch count and left him with a no-decision versus seattle. the 31-year-old allowed just two runs on a season-low three hits in that contest, which marked his best showing since his 2018 debut in a no-decision against the chicago white sox. garcia hasn't received the best results versus new york, however, as he owns a 2-5 mark despite posting a respectable 3.18 era while limiting the mets to a .258 batting average.
syndergaard has delivered four consecutive quality starts and takes the mound on tuesday on eight day's rest. the 25-year-old yielded two runs on six hits in as many innings versus colorado on may 6, but four walks drove up his pitch count. syndergaard has limited the current roster of the blue jays to a .176 batting average with seven strikeouts in 17 at-bats, although his lone encounter with toronto came in 2015.
walk-offs

1. toronto cf kevin pillar, who leads the team with a .308 batting average, is 6-for-14 in his career versus new york.

2. the mets' seven home wins are the second fewest in the national league (cincinnati, six).

3. blue jays 3b josh donaldson is 7-for-21 with three doubles in his last five games.

Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

14th May 2018 by Gracenote
There's a bit of a playoff feeling brewing between the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs this week, and not just because of the shifting locales. Two National League contenders square off for the second straight day - but in a different city - when the Braves host the Cubs to open a three-game series Tuesday.

In an odd twist, the teams met in Chicago on Monday to make up a game that was postponed due to inclement weather last month. Atlanta pounded three homers en route to a 6-5 win, including what proved to be a game-winning three-run blast from Jose Bautista. The Braves have won three straight and six of their last seven to move 10 games above .500 for the first time since July 28, 2014, giving them the best record in the NL. Kris Bryant homered Monday for his sixth in his last 11 games for the Cubs, who have lost two straight following a five-game winning streak.
TV: 7:35 p.m. ET, NBCS Chicago Plus, FS Southeast (Atlanta)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cubs RH Yu Darvish (0-3, 6.00 ERA) vs. Braves RH Mike Foltynewicz (3-2, 3.21)
Darvish is set to come off the disabled list and make his first start since May 2 after having his last outing scrapped due to flu-like symptoms. The 31-year-old is off to a disappointing start with only two quality starts in his first six outings. Darvish faced the Braves for the first time on April 13 in Chicago and allowed four runs on nine hits over 4 2/3 innings in a 4-0 loss.

Foltynewicz has allowed two or fewer earned runs in seven of his eight starts with one rough outing against San Francisco mixed in May 4. The 26-year-old bounced back with a strong performance last time out, holding Miami to one unearned run and three hits over five innings. Foltynewicz is 0-2 with a 7.36 ERA in two starts against the Cubs, but he allowed only two runs over 6 1/3 innings in a hard-luck loss last season.
WALK-OFFS

1. After scoring 15 runs in Darvish's first two starts, the Cubs have totaled only seven in his last four outings.

2. The Braves have homered in a season-high seven straight games.
3. Atlanta RF Nick Markakis is 11-for-27 with five multi-hit games during a six-game hitting streak.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Minnesota Twins Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

15th May 2018 by Gracenote
a st. louis cardinals' offense that was just good enough during their season-high five-game winning streak at the beginning of the month slowed to a crawl last week against the minnesota twins and has yet to pick things up for the most part. the cardinals try to break out of a 2-4 stretch and find a spark for their bats tuesday when they visit the twins in the opener of a two-game set.

after averaging 4.2 runs in sweeps of the chicago white sox and chicago cubs from may 1-6, st. louis mustered only six hits while getting outscored 13-1 by minnesota to conclude its seven-game homestand. the cardinals followed that with a trip to san diego, but it was more of the same outside of one nine-run outburst, as st. louis scored a total of six runs in the other three games while splitting a four-game set with the national league west-worst padres. the twins' offense has also hit a bit of a dry spell of late, totaling one run in their last two games after stringing together 12 consecutive outings with at least four. minnesota left nine runners on base in sunday's 2-1 defeat at the los angeles angels and tallied only four hits en route to a 1-0 setback versus seattle on monday.
tv: 8:10 p.m. et, fox sports 1
pitching matchup: cardinals rh jack flaherty (0-1, 3.60 era) vs. twins rh jose berrios (3-4, 4.50)

flaherty will draw his third start of the season and first since an april 28 loss at pittsburgh in which he gave three runs on four hits and four walks across five innings. the 2014 first-round selection is coming off a dominant outing at triple-a memphis on wednesday, allowing one run on six hits while fanning 13 in 6 2/3 frames. flaherty, who yielded one run and struck out nine over five innings against milwaukee on april 3, is 4-1 with a 2.27 era in five minor-league starts this season.
berrios was handed a loss for the third time in four trips to the mound thursday in anaheim, surrendering five runs - including a pair of homers - on seven hits in 5 1/3 frames versus the los angeles angels. since going 2-1 with a 1.63 era over his first four turns, the 23-year-old puerto rican has posted an 8.84 era during his slump, giving up at least four runs in every outing. berrios is 3-4 with a 3.08 era in seven interleague starts entering his first-ever showdown with the cardinals.

2. minnesota of eddie rosario is batting .357 with seven doubles, seven home runs and 17 rbis over his last 17 games.
3. st. louis ss paul dejong has four rbis over his last 16 games, all of which came in friday's 9-5 win over san diego.

14th May 2018 by Gracenote
the tampa bay rays responded to an embarrassing performance with a strong one and can clinch a rare series win at kauffman stadium when they visit the kansas city royals on tuesday night for the middle contest of the three-game set. the rays were winless in eight straight series (0-7-1) at kansas city before taking two of three at kauffman last august and edged the royals 2-1 on monday after giving up 17 runs one day earlier.

tampa bay's c.j. cron scored the first run monday to help even the all-time series with kansas city at 77-77 while extending his career-high on-base streak to 20 games and hitting safely in his seventh straight contest (11-for-29). anthony banda gets the start tuesday for the rays after being recalled and the royals will counter with veteran ian kennedy, who has pitched in bad luck much of the season before getting pounded last time out. kansas city lost for the fifth time in six games monday and has allowed 44 runs during that stretch. whit merrifield had a homer and two singles in the series opener to extend his hitting streak to eight games (14-for-30), while jon jay was stranded after a triple in the ninth inning monday and has hit safely in seven straight (12-for-33).

the milwaukee brewers are 4-1 at the midway point of a 10-game road trip and look to tack on another victory when they visit the slumping arizona diamondbacks on tuesday in the second contest of a three-game set. the brewers opened the series with a 7-2 win on monday when tyler saladino hit the 28th inside-the-park homer in franchise history.

jonathan villar went 3-for-4 with a homer and scored three runs in monday's victory as milwaukee tallied at least seven runs for the third time in the past four games. veteran ryan braun was scratched from the lineup due to back tightness as he suffers through a 3-for-29 funk as well as not having gone deep since april 20. arizona is experiencing all kinds of problems with six consecutive losses to follow up a strong 24-11 start. slugger paul goldschmidt is mired in a 26-game homerless drought and has just two rbis during the unproductive stretch along with a woeful season batting average of .211.

Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

15th May 2018 by Gracenote
robinson cano and adrian beltre have combined for 12 all-star game appearances and figure to be remembered as two of the most successful dominican players in major-league history, but neither one is likely to help their respective clubs anytime soon. a pair of american league west rivals missing key run producers renew acquaintances tuesday when the seattle mariners host the texas rangers in the opener of a three-game series.

cano was placed on the 10-day disabled list monday with a fractured fifth metacarpal on his right hand, one day after he was hit by a pitch in detroit. seattle continued its month-long pattern of alternating wins and losses in its first game without him on monday, as dee gordon scored on a throwing error in the eighth inning for the game's only run against minnesota. beltre is likely headed back to the dl after he aggravated the same hamstring injury he returned from less than a week ago after missing 12 games. while the rangers have been significantly better on the road (9-10) than at home (7-16), they hope they can find some offense without their cleanup hitter after scoring exactly one run in every game while dropping two of three in houston over the weekend.

pitching matchup: rangers lh mike minor (3-2, 4.72 era) vs. mariners rh mike leake (4-3, 5.72)

minor watched his five-game unbeaten streak come to an end last tuesday against detroit via the long ball, giving up three homers among the five runs and seven hits he surrendered in a season-high seven frames. the home run total matched the number he allowed in his first six turns combined, and the vanderbilt product has produced only two quality starts. minor enjoyed one of his best outings of the season april 20 against seattle, yielding one run and fanning six over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision.
leake won for the second time in three trips to the mound thursday in toronto, permitting two runs on six hits while striking out six across seven innings. the outing was the 30-year-old's first quality start since april 13 and only his third in eight turns this season. leake, who is allowing opponents to hit .328 the first time through the order, is 1-1 with a 1.99 era in five career starts against the rangers - including 1-0 with a 1.46 era in two september outings last season.
walk-offs

1. mariners ss jean segura is batting .375 with five doubles, one triple, one homer and 24 rbis with runners in scoring position.

2. texas is one of two teams (new york yankees) to avoid a shutout in 2018.

3. seattle inf gordon beckham was recalled from triple-a tacoma to replace cano on monday and went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in his season debut.

prediction: mariners 3, rangers 2

Cincinnati Reds vs. San Francisco Giants Preview and Predictions 05-15-2018

15th May 2018 by Gracenote
after a sluggish start, andrew mccutchen finally appears to be settling in with the san francisco giants. the veteran right fielder is riding a 13-game hitting streak for the giants, who continue their three-game series against the visiting cincinnati reds on tuesday.

mccutchen doubled twice to reach 1,500 career hits and scored two runs in monday's 10-7 victory as the giants collected 14 hits and snapped the reds' six-game winning streak. san francisco has won two in a row following a six-game losing streak but will be without second baseman alen hanson for at least the next 10 days after the versatile 25-year-old was placed on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain. cincinnati received a scare monday when first baseman joey votto exited in the fourth inning with a lower back tightness, but the five-time all-star said after the game that he expects to be in the lineup tuesday. reds second baseman scooter gennett was named national league player of the week after hitting .591 with four home runs and 10 rbi in five games but finished 0-for-5 in monday's loss.
tv: 10:15 p.m. et, fs ohio (cincinnati), nbcs bay area (san francisco)
pitching matchup: reds rh tyler mahle (3-4, 3.86 era) vs. giants lh ty blach (3-3, 4.20)

mahle turned in another impressive outing last thursday against the los angeles dodgers, allowing one unearned run on three hits over five innings. "it was some kind of impressive performance," interim reds manager jim riggleman told reporters. "he really was electric with his stuff and he got better as the night went on." the 23-year-old struck out four in the victory and has a 44-to-15 strikeout-to-walk ratio through his first eight starts across 44 1/3 innings.
blach saw his two-game winning streak come to a sudden halt last thursday, when he gave up five runs over 4 1/3 innings in a 6-3 loss to philadelphia. the 27-year-old native of colorado has allowed a total of three home runs in nine starts over 49 1/3 innings but has only recorded 25 strikeouts. billy hamilton has five hits in six at-bats against blach, who is 0-1 with a 9.00 era in two career starts against cincinnati.
walk-offs

1. san francisco recalled inf/of austin slater from triple-a sacramento to take hanson's roster spot.

2. the reds are 11-13 under riggleman after opening the season with a 3-15 mark.

3. giants lhp madison bumgarner (finger) threw a successful 20-pitch bullpen session monday and could rejoin the team in late may or early june.

prediction: giants 5, reds 4

NBA Eastern Conference final Game 2 betting preview and odds: Cavaliers at Celtics

Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics (-1, 203)

Celtics leads series 1-0.

ET, ESPN

SERIES PRICE (PER WESTGATE LV SUPERBOOK):

LINE HISTORY: The Cavaliers opened as 1-point road favorites for Game 2 at a few Vegas books but that number didn't last long as the pointspread quickly jumped the fence to Celtics -1. The total hit betting boards at 202.5 and has been bumped up to 203.

INJURY REPORT:

Cavaliers - No injuries to report.

Celtics - PG S. Larkin (Out, Shoulder), PG K. Irving (Out For Season, Knee), PF D. Theis (Out For Season, Knee), SF G. Hayward (Out For Season, Ankle).

MATCHUP CHART:

http://i63.tinypic.com/2is9niu.jpg

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (58-36 SU, 36-57-1 ATS, 44-48-2 O/U): James also committed seven turnovers during his porous performance but he said he wasn't worried about his team trailing in the series.

ABOUT THE CELTICS (64-31 SU, 60-33-2 ATS, 51-43-1 O/U): Morris was one of three Boston players to reach the 20-point mark in the opener as shooting guard Jaylen Brown recorded 23 points and eight rebounds and center Al Horford had 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting.

TRENDS:

* Cavaliers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 vs. NBA Atlantic.
* Celtics are 14-2 ATS in their last 16 home games.
* Over is 5-2 in Cavaliers' last 7 overall.
* Over is 10-2 in Celtics' last 12 home games.
* Road team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings.

CONSENSUS:

There are 57 percent of pointspread bets on the home favorite Celtics while 70 percent of total bets are siding with the Over.

NHL Eastern Conference final Game 3 betting preview and odds: Lightning at Capitals

Tampa Bay Lightning at Washington Capitals (-120, 6)

Capitals lead series 2-0.

“I’m confident in our group,” Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper told reporters Monday. “They’ve got 113 points (in the regular season) for a reason. … They’ve got a ton of experience, and when their backs have been against the wall, they’ve shown the propensity to fight back. This is a tough one. We lost two at home and it’s definitely not an ideal situation. But we’re not done. It’s not over.” Washington lost the first two games at home in the first-round series against Columbus, but won four in a row to move on and are 10-2 in the last 12 games after scoring the final five goals of Sunday’s 6-2 triumph. The Capitals have scored seven of their 10 goals at even strength and Tampa Bay, which dominated Boston while playing 5-on-5 in the semifinal series, has scored three of its four on the power play in the opening two contests. “It’s huge, but it’s not over yet,” Washington captain Alex Ovechkin, who scored in each of the first two games, told reporters. “We’re going to (have to) come back home and do our thing and take another one. It’s going to be hard. They have tremendous players over there and we just have to play the same way and don’t give them anything.”

INJURY REPORT:

Lightning - LW Adam Erne (Questionable, Lower Body).

Capitals - C Nicklas Backstrom (Questionable, Hand).

ABOUT THE LIGHTNING (62-27-3-2, 55-35 O/U): The team has plenty of confidence in Vezina finalist Andrei Vasilevskiy, who has allowed 10 goals in five periods of hockey during this series with little help from his defense after posting a .927 save percentage in the first two rounds. “We all have tremendous belief in him, and he’s a rock for our team,” Tampa Bay defenseman Anton Stralman told reporters. “He’s going to be back and be his best. We’re not making his job easier by executing our game plan defensively and offensively. The scoring chances are way up compared to the previous series and that’s on us, not him.” Captain Steven Stamkos has scored in four of his last five games while compiling seven points in that stretch.

ABOUT THE CAPITALS (59-28-8-1, 53-40 O/U): Lars Eller is prospering after moving up to the second-line center role with Nicklas Backstrom (hand) missing the last three games, recording two goals and two assists in the first two contests of this series. “He’s got all the qualities of a playoff-type player,” Washington coach Barry Trotz told reporters of Eller. “He’s big. He’s strong. He’s got some experience. He’s very competitive. He’s got a good skill level. He’s playing to his ability right now. … He’s one of the guys that’s stepped up in a major way for us.” Ovechkin, who shares the team lead with Kuznetsov at 19 points in the playoffs, is the second Washington player to reach 10 goals in a postseason run by joining John Druce (14 in 1990).

MLB | Blue Jays vs Mets
Play on: Blue Jays +153 at BMaker

Free pick on Blue Jays +153
I'm recommending playing the Blue Jays on the money line Tuesday. I really like the value with Toronto as a big road dog against the Mets. New York will have one of their big arms on the mound, as they send out Noah Syndergaard, but I believe it has them way over-priced.
He's pitched well so far in 2018, but hasn't been as good at home as he has on the road. Syndergaard has a 3.09 ERA in 8 starts overall, with a 3.62 ERA in 5 home outings. He's also in an unusual spot, as his last start was pushed back due to a rain delay coming after he had already warmed up. He last took the mound for a start way back on May 6th.
The other big thing here is the Mets' offense is struggling to put runs on the board. New York has scored a whopping 8 runs in their last 4 games combined and have put up 3 or fewer runs in 16 of their last 25. So while the numbers aren't great for Toronto starter Jaime Garcia, he's got a great shot here of keeping the Mets in check.
It's also worth noting that New York is just 7-22 in their last 29 home games vs a team with a winning record, 3-11 in their last 14 vs a left-handed starter, 1-10 in their last 11 interleague games and 1-6 in Syndergaard's last 7 starts following a Quality Start in his last outing. Take Toronto!

MLB | Dodgers vs Marlins
Play on: Dodgers -1½ +100 at 5Dimes

Jack’s Free Pick Tuesday: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (+100)
The Los Angeles Dodgers have lost four straight and seven of their last eight games overall. It’s safe to say they are going to come into this game against the Miami Marlins highly motivated for a victory. They should be able to get on track against one of the worst teams in baseball in the Marlins, who are 14-26 this season.
The Dodgers have the clear advantage not he mound in this one. Alex Wood is 0-3 with a 3.60 ERA and 1.000 WHIP in eight starts this season, including 0-2 with a 3.22 ERA and 0.985 WHIP in four road starts. Wood is also 5-0 with a 1.12 ERA in his last six starts against the Marlins, giving up just 5 earned runs in 40 1/3 innings.
Wei-Yin Chen is off to a slow start this season. He recently returned from the disabled list and hasn’t been effective at all. Chen is 1-2 with a 10.22 ERA and 1.946 WHIP in three starts this season, averaging just 4.1 innings per start. He has already allowed 6 homers and 14 earned runs in 12 1/3 innings.
Miami is hitting just .227 and scoring 3.4 runs per game as a team this season. It is giving up 5.4 runs per game, getting outscored by 2.0 runs per game on average. So instead of backing the Dodgers on the money line, we’ll back them on the run line to win by two runs or more tonight. Bet the Dodgers on the Run Line Tuesday.

1* on Atlanta Braves +112
The Key: I like the price we are getting with the Atlanta Braves as home underdogs to the Chicago Cubs tonight. They should not be dogs in this matchup. The Braves are 6-1 in their last 7 games overall and their young, talented roster is really breaking through this season with a 25-15 start. Starter Mike Foltynewicz is off to a great start at 3-2 with a 3.21 ERA in eight starts. He’ll be opposed by You Darvish, who is 0-3 with a 6.00 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in six starts for the Cubs. He has been a massive disappointment, yet still continues to get too much respect from oddsmakers. Darvish is 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA and 2.78 WHIP in one lifetime start against the Braves, which came back on April 13th this season when he allowed 4 runs and 13 base runners in 4 2/3 innings of a 4-0 loss as a -200 home favorite. Take Atlanta.

The visitors hand the ball to Jack Flaherty (0-1, 3.60 ERA) who has been called up from Triple-A Memphis to make this start. Flaherty has done well in the minor leagues, but has been pedestrian in the bigs by allowing four runs off ten hits with five walks over two starts this season.
The home side counters with Jose Berrios (3-4, 4.50) who comes in off an outing to forget against the Angels on Thursday, allowing five runs off seven hits over 5.1 innings. Berrios has struggled of late after a red hot start, but I’m not going to read too much into his recent performance.
Note that Berrios does enter with a solid 1.04 WHIP thus far and he does own a very respectable 3.74 ERA at home to this point as well.
Additionally I’ll point out that St. Louis is just 18-26 in all interleague games the last two seasons, while Minnesota is 25-22 in the same position.
I think the Twins are well worth the price of admission in this spot. Consider Minnesota on Tuesday night.
Good luck…Larry

MLB | Reds vs Giants
Play on: Giants -117 at betonline

Tuesday MLB Free play. My selection is on San Francisco over Cincinnati at 10:15 pm et on Tuesday.
We're being offered a short price to back the Giants here as they aim to continue their turnaround following a six-game losing skid last week.
San Francisco exploded for 10 runs in last night's victory over the Reds (we won with the 'over'), notching its second straight victory. Meanwhile, the Reds saw their modest six-game winning streak come to an end. It's worth noting that the Reds are still one of the worst teams in baseball, having won just 14 of 42 games so far this season.
Tyler Mahle will take the ball for the Reds on Tuesday. We actually cashed a ticket with Mahle and the Reds as a big underdog in Los Angeles last week. The rookie wasn't particularly effective, however, as he lasted only five innings, issuing four walks along the way. I expect him to run into some trouble against the Giants lineup here as well.
Ty Blach will counter for San Francisco. He had been pitching well before struggling against the Phillies last time out. Prior to that start (in which he gave up seven hits and five earned runs in 4 1/3 innings), Blach had worked at least six innings in three of his previous four outings, allowing three earned runs or less in all four of those trips to the hill. Take San Francisco (8*).

Play on: UNDER 9 +110

Take Under the Total in the game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Minnesota Twins listing both starting pitchers Jack Flaherty and Jose Berrios. These two teams have seen the Under go 11-0-1 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams. Minnesota (17-20) has also played 7 of their last 10 home games Under the Total against teams with a winning record. St. Louis (22-16) comes off a 5-3 loss in San Diego on Sunday. The Under is 4-0-2 in the Twins’ last 6 games after a loss. The Under is also 5-0-2 in the Cardinals’ last 7 road games against right-handed starting pitchers. Take the Under. Best of luck — Frank.

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Seattle Mariners -127
The Texas Rangers have scored exactly one run in three consecutive games. Their offense has been hampered by injuries all season. Runs won’t be easy to come by against Seattle’s Mike Leake tonight, either. Leake owns the Rangers, going 1-1 with a 1.99 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in five previous starts against them. Mike Minor is 1-0 with a 7.36 ERA in his two road starts this season, and 3-2 with a 4.72 ERA in seven starts overall. Texas is 1-12 off two straight losses by 4 runs or more over the last two seasons. Give me the Mariners.

MLB | Brewers vs Diamondbacks
Play on: Brewers +1½ -145 at 5Dimes

Brewers vs D'Backs Free Pick May 15, 2018 The Arizona Diamondbacks live and die with slugger Paul Goldschmidt, and it's no surprise that while he's batting .068 in May, Arizona has lost nine of 13 games this month. The Brewers are in town tonight, and I expect to see a pitcher's duel in the desert. Zack Greinke will toe the slab for Arizona, and he's been dealing. Greinke (3-2, 3.70 ERA) allowed one run on four hits, striking out six in seven innings in a 2-1 home loss to Washington his last time out. The Brewers hand the ball to Jhoulys Chacin, who has been having a solid season in his own right. Chacin (3-1, 4.00 ERA) is undefeated in his last five starts. He allowed a pair of runs on four hits over 5 1/3 innings in a 5-2 win at Coors Field his last time out. Milwaukee has won four of the last six meetings, and one of the two losses came in a one run game.
Take Milwaukee +1.5.

NBA | Cavs vs Celtics
Play on: OVER 202½ -110

This is a 1* Free Play on the OVER Cavs/Celtics.
We had a play on the OVER in Game 1 and that would unfortunately come up short. The Celtics looked great on both ends of the floor and somehow found a way to slow down LeBron James. We have a hard time seeing the C’s duplicating that defensive effort in Game 2 though against a Cavaliers team which should be leaving everything it has on the floor tonight. Note as well that Cleveland has seen the total go OVER in five of its last seven as an underdog, while Boston has seen the total go OVER in 29 of 49 this season when playing the role of favorite. We think this one sneak OVER the number as the game comes down the stretch.

MLB | Phillies vs Orioles
Play on: Phillies -115 at pinnacle

#MLB FREE PICK FROM MIKE LUNDIN
The Philadelphia Phillies have lost six of their last nine on the road, but they're still a solid 23-16 overall on the season and here they'll face a Baltimore Orioles side which is 2-9 in its last 11 home games against teams with a winning record. We can also note that Philly is coming off a solid 5-1 homestand.
Andrew Cashner (1-4, 4.84 ERA) will take the ball for Baltimore in this matchup. He gave up three runs on six hits in six innings against KC his last time out and has surrendered a total of 16 runs covering 20 2/3 frames through his last four starts. Orioles are just 1-4 in Cashner's last five home starts.
The Phillies counter with Nick Pivetta (2-2, 4.15 ERA) who threw five scoreless innings with four hits, seven strikeouts and no walks against San Francisco his last time out. Phillies are 10-2 in Pivetta's last 12 starts.
Baltimore has won five of its last six games but is still last place in the American League East with a 13-28 record. I think the price is right to back Philadelphia here in the series-opener.
Free pick on Philadelphia Phillies.
