#4 MIGHT BE takes a BIG class drop (-18), is the overall speed leader in this allowance field racing at, or about, today's distance of 8½ furlongs on the dirt, and has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in three of her last five "adventures," including a "POWER RUN WIN" in her 3rd race back. Jockey Dylan Davis and Trainer Chris Englehart send her "postward" this afternoon ... they've hit the board with 52% of their entries saddled as a team to date. #1 CARTWHEEL, a 4-1 shot, is the pace profile leader, and comes off a "POWER RUN WIN" to break her maiden her last time out. Jockey Joe Bravo was in her irons for that win, which came at nearby Aqueduct, and is back today here in Elmont for his 2nd ride, gunning for back-to-back "Circle Trips."

# 3 WILLY I AM 5/2

# 9 BLAZE A TRAIL 8/5

# 4 MINI CHUNK 15/1

I think WILLY I AM is a decent choice. Has posted reliable Equibase Speed Figures in dirt sprint races in the past. Looks decent against this group and will almost certainly be one of the front-runners. Had one of the most respectable Equibase Speed Figures of this group in his last outing. BLAZE A TRAIL - With Canchari getting the mount, watch out for this racer. Must be given consideration for this event if only for the decent speed rating put up in the last race. MINI CHUNK - Trainers don't bring ponies back this soon without any reason. Will make a good outing versus this bunch.

#2 BELLA MY GIRL (ML=6/1)
#7 THERON (ML=7/2)

BELLA MY GIRL - This horse is racing on the turf for the first time. She should be tough, coming off a first place finish in her race on February 18th on a sluggish track. Have to make this filly a strong challenger; she comes off a sharp contest on May 26th. THERON - TrackMaster keeps good stats on this type of information. This mare always seems to race well after a layoff. This animal brings in a lot of cash per race around the track. Number one in this clash.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 VALENTINE CHARM (ML=5/2), #9 SABE MARCELETE (ML=4/1), #5 TOODALOO TO YOU (ML=6/1),

VALENTINE CHARM - Hasn't been on the Louisiana Downs oval in the last few weeks. Cause for some concern. SABE MARCELETE - This horse likes to finish in the money, but doesn't usually win. Don't put in the top spot. Didn't look so hot last time. Probably won't do much running in today's event. No triumphs for this vulnerable equine at Louisiana Downs. TOODALOO TO YOU - The fourth place finish position in the last event was not the greatest.

# 6 DRESSED IN HEELS 7/2

# 4 LAINEY LUCK 6/1

# 2 DANCER'S KISS 12/1

DRESSED IN HEELS is my choice. She has been racing well recently while recording strong speed figures. Garnered a solid Equibase Speed Figure last time out. The average Equibase class figure alone makes this entrant a solid contender. LAINEY LUCK - Could beat this group of horses in this race given the 67 speed figure earned in her last outing. Overall the Equibase speed figs of this animal look decent in this affair. DANCER'S KISS - Her 61 average has this mare with among the best Equibase speed figs in this race. I can't pass on this mare given one of the best jock and trainer combos on the grounds.

Woodbine - Race #6 - Post: 9:16pm - Claiming - 8.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $20,000 Class Rating: 70

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#1 COREY'S BEST (ML=3/1)

COREY'S BEST - The December 6th race at Woodbine was at a class level of (84). Dropping down in class ranks drastically, so she should be in a good spot. Ran a nice speed rating of 80 on Nov 19th. Followed it up with another speed rating of 87. Either effort is good enough to win this race. This mare's last speed rating is high enough to prove victorious here, I'll wager on her right back this time around.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 LOVIN SPOON PHIL (ML=2/1), #2 CLASSY SCARLETT (ML=7/2), #6 SAN NICOLA BREEZE (ML=6/1),

LOVIN SPOON PHIL - Very long layoff, then came back and finished fifth. Hard to expect much better in today's event. CLASSY SCARLETT - Recorded a run-of-the-mill speed figure last time around the track in a $10,000 Claiming race on May 27th. Unlikely to see an improved performance off of that rating. Tough to back since I think a 'performance bounce' is in the works this time out. SAN NICOLA BREEZE - 6/1 odds isn't enough for this participant when checking the most recent outings. Don't believe this questionable contender will make a winning move in today's event. That last speed fig was disappointing when compared with today's class rating.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - COREY'S BEST - Posting three superb Equibase speed figs in the last three races. This thoroughbred is primed to beat these ponies today.

New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves Preview and Predictions 06-13-2018

12th June 2018 by Gracenote
The Atlanta Braves have held at least a share of first place in the National League East for all but two days since May 2, and they'll try to stay there when they host the New York Mets for the finale of a two-game series Wednesday. The Braves began a 14-game stretch against teams with losing records with Tuesday's 8-2 rout of the Mets, improving to 8-3 against New York this season.

The latest win over the Mets put the Braves back atop the division standings after spending four days tied for the lead with Washington. Freddie Freeman and Ozzie Albies both homered for the Braves in the opener and continue to swing hot bats against New York as Albies owns three homers against the Mets and Freeman is batting .405 with nine RBIs versus New York this season. The Mets have dropped nine of their last 10 and 14 of 17. New York has scored 10 runs in its last eight games, batting .138 as a team over that stretch.
TV: 12:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network, SNY (New York), FS Southeast (Atlanta)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Jacob deGrom (4-1, 1.57 ERA) vs. Braves RH Mike Soroka (1-1, 3.68)
Coming off his first loss of the season, deGrom looks to extend his streak of five consecutive quality starts. The 29-year-old hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in his last nine outings and racked up at least eight strikeouts in his last five starts. In 14 starts against the Braves, deGrom is 5-3 with a 1.84 ERA, and he has allowed one run in 18 innings across three meetings this season.

Soroka will come off the disabled list to make his fourth big-league start and his first since May 12 at Miami. The 20-year-old beat the Mets in his debut May 1, allowing one run and six hits over six innings, but he didn't get through five innings in his last two outings. Soroka has compiled 15 strikeouts and just four walks in 14 2/3 innings across his first three major league starts.
WALK-OFFS

1. Freeman is 11-for-23 with four homers during a six-game hitting streak.

2. Mets INF Wilmer Flores (back soreness) began a rehab assignment Tuesday at Class A St. Lucie and is expected to return at some point during the team's 10-game road trip that began Tuesday.
3. Albies, who leads the Braves with 16 home runs, is the second Atlanta second baseman with two grand slams in a season - joining Davey Johnson in 1973.

PREDICTION: Mets 3, Braves 2

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Tampa Bay Rays Preview and Predictions 06-13-2018

12th June 2018 by Gracenote
after ending a streak of three consecutive series losses, the tampa bay rays can complete a three-game sweep of the visiting toronto blue jays on wednesday afternoon. with its starting rotation ravaged by injuries, tampa bay used six relievers to stymie the blue jays in tuesday's 4-1 victory and will hope to utilize the same formula in the series finale.

wilson ramos provided the rays with all the runs they needed, swatting a two-run homer to extend his hitting streak to five games. joey wendle and mallex smith delivered rbi singles for tampa bay, which after wednesday will play 14 of its next 16 games against the new york yankees and houston. toronto amassed 56 hits in a four-game sweep of baltimore before dropping the first two against the rays, who managed only five singles in tuesday's defeat. first baseman justin smoak was hitless in three at-bats and is 0-for-16 over the last five games.
tv: 1:10 p.m. et, sportsnet (toronto), fs sun (tampa bay)

pitching matchup: blue jays lh j.a. happ (8-3, 3.71 era) vs. rays rh wilmer font (0-3, 9.59)
happ improved to 4-0 in his last five outings with another strong effort versus baltimore, allowing one unearned run on two hits over seven innings. it was the sixth quality start in the last nine turns for the 35-year-old, who is 3-1 with a 2.97 era in five outings away from home. matt duffy is 5-for-10 with a homer and three rbis against happ, who has struggled in 15 appearances versus tampa bay with a 3-4 record and 5.05 era.

after ugly stints with the los angeles dodgers and oakland athletics this season, font is finding a home with the rays, sporting a 3.24 era in his five appearances. he served as the opener last time out in his first outing at tropicana park on friday versus seattle and took the loss after striking out a season-high five and giving up two runs and two hits in 2 1/3 innings. matt andriese is expected to follow font to the mound.
walk-offs

1. rays rhp chris archer (abdominal strain) could remain sidelined through the all-star break.
2. blue jays rhp marcus stroman (shoulder) is scheduled for a rehab start at class a dunedin on wednesday night.

3. the rays signed lh matt liberatore, their first-round pick in this month's draft.

Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers Preview and Predictions 06-13-2018

13th June 2018 by Gracenote
The Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers have leap-frogged one another in the National League Central standings after each of the first two contests of their three-game series. The visiting Cubs hope to swap places again after Wednesday's series finale.

The Brewers reclaimed a half-game lead over Chicago atop the division standings with a 4-0 win Tuesday, snapping a seven-game skid against the Cubs. The win was just Milwaukee's second in 10 meetings this season, and it marked only the second time the Brewers scored more than two runs in the season series. The Cubs are trying to win their sixth consecutive series and avoid their first series loss on the road since a three-game sweep at St. Louis from May 4-6. Milwaukee hasn't dropped a series at home since losing two of three to visiting Pittsburgh that same weekend.
TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, WGN (Chicago), FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cubs LH Mike Montgomery (2-1, 3.56 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Jhoulys Chacin (5-1, 3.58)

Montgomery is making a strong case to stay in the rotation even when Yu Darvish returns from the disabled list. The 28-year-old has won two of his three starts, allowing two runs over 17 2/3 innings, and is coming off a win against Pittsburgh in which he gave up one run and seven hits across six frames. Montgomery hasn't fared well against the Brewers as he is 1-5 with a 6.04 ERA in 13 games (four starts) versus Milwaukee.
The Brewers are 11-3 when Chacin starts this season, and he hasn't taken a loss since April 4 against St. Louis. The 30-year-old benefited from strong run support last time out, earning the win despite allowing four runs over 6 1/3 innings in a 12-4 victory. Chacin is 2-4 with a 3.82 ERA in seven games (six starts) against the Cubs.
WALK-OFFS

1. The Cubs failed to record an extra-base hit Tuesday, snapping a streak of 96 consecutive games with at least one - the club's longest streak since at least 1908.

2. Brewers OF Christian Yelich is 11-for-30 during a seven-game hitting streak.

3. Milwaukee 3B Travis Shaw was 2-for-27 against the Cubs this season before going 2-for-3 and driving in all four runs Tuesday.

PREDICTION: Cubs 5, Brewers 3

Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles Preview and Predictions 06-13-2018

13th June 2018 by Gracenote
the boston red sox will have a decided advantage on the mound in their quest to finish off a three-game sweep at the baltimore orioles on wednesday. star lefty chris sale, who limited the orioles to two hits while striking out eight in five innings earlier in the year, goes for the red sox as they aim for an eighth consecutive victory at camden yards.

baltimore originally planned to start veteran andrew cashner but he was placed on the 10-day disabled list prior to tuesday's game with back soreness, forcing the club to turn to yefry ramirez for his major-league debut opposite sale. andrew benintendi homered and forced in a run with a walk to help boston pick up a 6-4 victory tuesday night, giving the club a 23-11 record both at home and on the road. mookie betts, the top vote-getter in current all-star balloting, returned from an abdominal strain in the series opener before sitting out the second game, but is expected to return for this one. the orioles got manny machado back tuesday from a one-game absence but they left 13 runners on base while losing a sixth consecutive game.
tv: 3:05 p.m. et, mlb network, nesn (boston), masn2 (baltimore)
pitching matchup: red sox lh chris sale (5-4, 2.83 era) vs. orioles rh yefry ramirez (nr)

sale has lost three straight starts but he was solid in the most recent one, tossing eight innings of one-run ball while striking out 10 in a 1-0 loss to the chicago white sox. he has a 2.68 era in eight road starts while limiting opponents to a .188 average. the six-time all-star is 4-1 with a 2.29 era in nine career games (six starts) at camden yards but will need to be careful with machado, who is 6-for-16 with a home run and two doubles against sale.
ramirez is 3-4 with a 4.33 era in 12 starts for triple-a norfolk, recording 63 strikeouts and allowing 53 hits in 60 1/3 innings. the 24-year-old was with baltimore for one day in april but did not appear in a game. he is 38-30 with a 3.55 mark in seven seasons in the minors, going 15-3 at the double-a level last year while splitting the season between the new york yankees and baltimore systems.
walk-offs

1. benintendi is batting .412 with three homers and 13 rbis in nine games against baltimore this year.

2. orioles lhp zach britton, who had 135 saves over the previous four years, made his season debut tuesday after recovering from achilles surgery.

3. the red sox drew a season-high 10 walks tuesday.

prediction: red sox 7, orioles 3

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Preview and Predictions 06-13-2018

13th June 2018 by Gracenote
the arizona diamondbacks hope to continue their torrid offensive pace as they vie for their sixth straight win when they host the pittsburgh pirates on wednesday for the finale of their three-game series. arizona outslugged pittsburgh 13-8 on tuesday for its season-high fifth consecutive victory as it improved to 2-0 on its seven-game homestand.

Wednesday's Diamond Notes
Kevin Rogers

Hottest team: Diamondbacks (11-3 last 14)

After living in the “coldest team” category for most of May, Arizona has vaulted to the “hot” category in June. The D-backs’ offense has been the reason for this recent surge by scoring 51 runs in the last five victories, including 22 in the first two wins in their series against the Pirates. Arizona jumped out to a 6-0 lead over Pittsburgh in the first inning of Wednesday’s 13-8 triumph, while improving to 7-1 in the past eight games at Chase Field.

Zack Greinke takes the ball this afternoon as Arizona seeks the home sweep. Greinke continues to be dominant at Chase Field this season by posting a 3-0 record to go along with a 1.64 ERA at home, while the D-backs own 5-2 record in his home outings. Arizona can build upon its three-game advantage of Los Angeles in the NL West this weekend as the D-backs welcome in the struggling Mets.

Coldest team: Rockies (2-9 last 11)

It wasn’t long ago the Colorado sat atop the NL West race, but the Rockies have slipped of late by losing five straight games. The Rockies’ pitching has caused this descent after getting swept at home by both the Dodgers and Diamondbacks this month, while allowing double-digit runs four times. Colorado fell behind Philadelphia on Tuesday, 5-1 prior to rallying late in a 5-4 loss to the Phillies.

The Rockies send out Tyler Anderson to the mound tonight as the left-hander is winless in his last four starts. Anderson is coming off a quality outing in his previous start at Cincinnati by scattering five hits and allowing two earned runs in seven innings of an extra-innings walk-off loss. The last time Anderson faced Arizona in late March, he was tagged for a season-high seven runs in 2.1 innings of a 9-8 loss, but the Rockies have won his last two starts as a heavy underdog against the Cubs and Nationals.

Hottest pitcher: Jose Berrios, Twins (7-5, 3.66 ERA)

Berrios has rebounded since a rough first five weeks of the season as Minnesota has won four of his past five starts. The right-hander has yielded two earned runs or less in four of his previous five outings, while coming off a complete-game victory against the White Sox in his last trip to the mound. Granted, Minnesota’s last four wins that Berrios has taken the ball have all come at Target Field, as he faces the Tigers at Comerica Park tonight. Berrios shut down the Tigers the last time he saw them on May 21 in a 4-2 home victory by giving up three hits in eight innings and striking out nine batters.

Coldest pitcher: Nick Pivetta, Phillies (4-5, 3.76 ERA)

Pivetta was rolling along in May by winning three straight starts, while striking out 25 batters in this stretch. However, Pivetta has gone backwards of late by failing to win in his last three trips to the mound, including road losses to the Cubs and Giants. The right-hander hasn’t lasted past the fifth inning in any of these three starts, while the Phillies’ offense hasn’t provided much run support by scoring three runs or less in Pivetta’s past four outings. Pivetta will try to turn things around against the Rockies, who enter Wednesday’s action owning a 3-6 record in their last nine road games.

Biggest OVER run: Dodgers (9-1 last 10)

Since dropping six straight games to the Reds and Marlins in May, the Dodgers have picked things up and starting to look like the defending National League champions. Los Angeles is riding an 18-6 run over the last 24 games, while scoring at least five runs in each of its past 11 victories. The Dodgers crushed the Rangers on Tuesday, 12-5, marking the eighth time in 10 June games that Los Angeles has plated at least seven runs. Kenta Maeda takes the mound for the Dodgers tonight as he lasted less than two innings in a 6-1 loss to the Phillies his last time out. Maeda has seen the UNDER hit in five of his past seven starts, while the UNDER is 4-1-1 in his six home outings this season.

Biggest UNDER run: White Sox (10-1 last 11)

Chicago has showed some competitive juices of late by capturing two of three as heavy underdogs at Boston last weekend, while splitting the first two games against Cleveland. The White Sox went deep twice in the first inning of Tuesday’s 5-1 rout of the Indians, as Chicago has allowed four runs or less in nine of the past 10 games. Narrowing that number down in this stretch, Sox pitching has yielded two runs or fewer five times, but Chicago’s inconsistent offense has scored two runs or less five times in the last 10 contests. Dylan Covey has been solid of late for Chicago by allowing one run in his last two starts, while the Sox beat the Red Sox and Brewers in the underdog role.

Matchup to watch: Nationals vs. Yankees

Washington and New York are two teams that may see each other in October for the Fall Classic, as the two teams are hooking up in interleague action this season. However, the first matchup in D.C. back in May was suspended in the sixth inning due to massive rain, while the second game was washed out the following night. The first official matchup between these heavyweights took place in the Bronx on Tuesday as the Yankees blanked the Nationals, 3-0, highlighted by a pair of home runs from shortstop Didi Gregorious.

The Yankees are facing their third straight tough opponent at home after capturing series victories in late May against the Angels and Astros. Sonny Gray has been on fire of late for New York as the right-hander has allowed one earned run and six hits in his last two starts against the Orioles and Blue Jays on the road. The Yankees won each of those games, but Gray has been tagged for 10 runs in his last two home outings, losses to the Angels and Athletics.

The Nationals have been blanked in consecutive games, while right fielder Bryce Harper was plunked twice in last night’s loss. Harper looks to play tonight as Washington sends out right-hander Erick Fedde to the mound trying to slow down the Yankees. Fedde makes his second start of the season, as he lost to the Padres as a -145 home favorite last month, 3-1 in spite of striking out six batters in 5.2 innings of work.

Betcha didn’t know: It’s a special night for Giants’ left-hander Andrew Suarez, who makes his first start in his hometown of Miami in his short career. Suarez, who attended high school in Miami and pitched at the University of Miami, is seeking his third win of the season. The Giants have lost the first two games of their series with the Marlins, but San Francisco has won each of Suarez’s last two starts against Washington and Philadelphia.

Biggest public favorite: Cardinals (-200) vs. Padres

Biggest public underdog: Royals (+105) vs. Reds

Biggest line move: Indians (-173 to -180) at White Sox

TREVOR BAUER (R) vs. DYLAN COVEY (R)
Cleveland starter Bauer logged 113 pitches over eight innings in a road win over the Tigers on Friday and could easily find himself getting fatigued in this outing. Meanwhile, the White Sox starter Covey has looked very promising for a rebuilding Pale Hose team, recording a stingy 2.22 ERA over five starts and 22 1/3 innings while allowing only 1 HR. Cleveland is a top tier team, but have struggled offensively on the road this season averaging just 4.1 RPG on a lowly .222 BA and could easily find themselves on the wrong side of the final score here this evening.
BAUER team when he starts is just 10-15 against the money line vs. teams outscored by opp by 0.5 or more runs/game on the season dating back to last season.Indians are also just 7-15 in Bauers last 22 road starts vs. a team with a losing record.White Sox are 6-2 in their last 8 during game 3 of a series.
The White Sox are 7-0 on the money-line as a underdog after a loss in which they had at least three times as many hits as runs which happened yesterday.
MLB Home underdogs with a money line of +125 or more (CHI WHITE SOX) - below average AL hitting team (AVG .265 or less) against a team with a bad bullpen (ERA 5.00 or more ), with a slugging percentage of .390 or worse over their last 20 games are 33-21 L/21 seasons for a 61% conversion rate for bettors.

MLB | Astros vs A's
Play on: Astros -170 at YouWager

Free pick on Astros -
The Astros have won 6 straight and are a perfect 5-0 to start out their 10-game road trip, which started with a 4-game sweep of the Rangers and continued with yesterday's 6-3 win in the opener against the A's. Houston's offense has scored at least 4 runs in all 6 games during the win streak. With the starting pitching this team has, they are extremely tough to beat when they are scoring at this rate.
I expect more of the same in game two against the A's on Wednesday, which is why I got no problem laying the big juice with Houston on the road. The Astros will send out Cy Young candidate Gerrit Cole, who is 7-1 with a 2.16 ERA and 0.844 WHIP in 13 starts. Cole is also 5-0 with a 1.72 ERA and 0.851 WHIP in 7 road starts. Houston has only managed to lose 2 of his 13 starts this season.
A's will counter with Paul Blackburn, who is coming off his first start of 2018 last Thursday. Blackburn pitched well after the call up from Triple-A, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits in 6 innings. However, that was against the Royals, who aren't a good offensive team. This Astros lineup is a whole different beast and I look for Blackburn to struggle big time in this one. Take Houston!

Jack’s Free Pick Wednesday: Kansas City Royals +111
The Kansas City Royals are showing solid value as home underdogs to the Cincinnati Reds tonight. The Royals lost Game 1 and will be out for revenge in Game 2. These are two of the worst teams in baseball, but I think the Royals have a nice motivational edge as well as an advantage on the mound.
Jason Hammel has really started to pitch well for the Royals. He has gone 2-1 with a 2.96 ERA in his last four starts, allowing just 8 earned runs in 24 1/3 innings. Hammel is also 4-1 with a 3.50 ERA and 1.181 WHIP in 11 career starts against Cincinnati, including 4-0 with a 0.75 ERA in his last four starts against them, giving up just 2 earned runs in 24 innings.
Tyler Mahle will be getting the ball for the Reds tonight. He’s getting way too much respect from oddsmakers. Mahle is 4-6 with a 4.33 ERA and 1.427 WHIP in 13 starts this season. He has been at his worst on the road, going 3-3 with a 4.19 ERA and 1.719 WHIP in seven starts while averaging just 4.9 innings per start.
The Reds are 14-43 in their last 57 interleague road games. Cincinnati is 2-8 in its last 10 games following a win. Kansas City is 22-9 in its last 31 interleague games vs. a team with a losing record. The Royals are 5-1 in the last six meetings. Bet the Royals Wednesday.

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach MLB Game #905 Wednesday Free Pick OVER the total in Arizona Diamondbacks vs Pittsburgh Pirates @ 3:40 ET - Based on some recent results with these pitchers, there has been a big move to the under. However, keep in mind, the pitchers are only a portion of the equation in handicapping. Yes, they are important but certainly another key aspect is how teams are swinging the sticks and right now both of these lineups are getting the job done. That said, this will be a contrarian play but certainly it is a value play! The total has dropped to a 7.5 and the Diamondbacks Zack Greinke is 0-2 with a 5.73 ERA in his two day game starts this season. That is not necessarily a fluke either! Taking his day game outings since the beginning of the 2016 season, Greinke has a 4.56 ERA in afternoon action. The Arizona right-hander enters this start having allowed 21 hits in his last 18 and 1/3 innings. As for Pittsburgh's Jameson Taillon, he has pitched a little better recently but upon closer inspection of his last 4 starts he had a shutout in one outing. In the other 3 starts, the Pirates right-hander compiled a 6.23 ERA. Pittsburgh has scored 5 runs or more in 5 of their last 7 games and is averaging 6.7 runs per game their last 3 games. Arizona has won 9 of their last 11 games and the Diamondbacks are averaging scoring 7.5 runs per game during this hot streak. Free Pick OVER the total in Arizona

MLB | Mets vs Braves
Play on: Mets -110 at 5Dimes

I understand the Mets are dog excrement. They are 3-14 in their last 17 games, including 1-9 in their last 10. The Mets have scored the grand total of 10 runs in their last eight games. That's an average of 1.2 runs. But one run by the Mets just might be enough to beat the Braves because Jacob deGrom is pitching. I rate him the second-best pitcher in the National League right now in back of only Max Scherzer. No pitcher holds a lower ERA since April 21 than deGrom at 0.81. The Braves have scored one run in 18 innings against deGrom this season. He has a 1.84 ERA lifetime ERA versus Atlanta in 14 starts. It's very rare to lay such a low price with such an elite pitcher. The pitiful Mets offense has a chance to break out, too, against the Braves as this is shaping up as a bullpen game for Atlanta. Rookie Mike Soroka is going to start. He's been sidelined since May 12 because of a shoulder strain. The Mets faced him on May 1. Soroka has given up five earned during his last two starts spanning just 8 2/3 innings. He is going to be on a pitch count. The huge pitching edge and fair lay price puts me on the Mets even though I have to hold my nose taking them. (Editor's note: Stephen Nover has his strongest day game total of the season going today in addition to this free selection. Don't miss any of Stephen's winning plays!)

MLB | Angels vs Mariners
Play on: Mariners +104 at BMaker

My free play is on the Sea Mariners at 4:10 ET. The Mariners have hit seven HRs while winning the first two of their three-game series with the LA Angels and have now won 10 of their last 12 to move a a season-high 19 games above .500 at 43-24. Nelson Cruz homered twice on Monday as the Mariners won the opener 5-3, then Mitch Haniger and Ryon Healy both hit HRs in Tuesday's 6-3 victory, off-setting Mike Trout's two HRs in each of the first two games. Trout's 11th and 12th career multi-HR efforts were his fourth at Safeco Field (a record for a visiting player) and increased his major league-leading total to 23 round-trippers. However, Trout's four HRs over the past two nights haven't translated into victories and after a terrific 13-3 start to the 2018 season, the 37-31 Angels find themselves 6 1/2 games back of the first-place Mariners as the look to avoid a three-game sweep at Safeco in this afternoon contest.
Wednesday's pitching matchup will feature LA's Garrett Richards (4-4, 3.26 ERA) going up against Seattle lefty Marco Gonzales (7-3, 3.28 ERA). Richards owns an impressive 2.53 ERA over his last six starts but remains win-less during that stretch (he's 0-3 and the team is 2-4). In fact, his last win came back on May 4 vs the Mariners, when he scattered four hits over 6 2/3 scoreless innings of a 5-0 victory. That win made him 6-4 with a 2.91 ERA in 19 career appearances (11 starts) versus Seattle.
Gonzales leads the Mariners in victories (seven) and is looking to win his fifth consecutive start. He has posted an outstanding 0.81 ERA over his last five outings, winning the last four after settling for a no-decision back on May 17 when he allowed a single unearned run over 5.2 innings against the Tigers. Gonzalez escaped with a no-decision against the Angels back on May 5, when he yielded four runs and nine hits over six innings, leaving him with a 4.40 ERA in three career starts vs Los Angeles.
"We're not swinging the bats as a team," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "It puts our pitchers under a lot of pressure to make pitches. And any mistakes we had (Tuesday) they hit out of the park. Give those guys some credit, but one guy can't carry you. Mike is swinging the bat very well, but we need some other guys to step up." LA should have its work cut out for itself against Gonzalez, who has allowed just 21 hits in 33.1 innings during a five-game stretch that has established him as a solid member of the Seattle rotation. Play Seattle to sweep the LA Angels.
Good luck...Larry

New York Red Bulls vs Seattle Sounders Free Pick June 13, 2018. The New York Red Bulls have scored more than their fair share of goals in the MLS this season. Their 28 goals total in just 13 matches, is three times higher than Seattle has managed this season. The Sounders have lost four of their last five overall, and they have been outscored 6-1 in their last two trips to New York. The home team has won four straight meetings in this series, and that's a trend that is likely to continue here tonight. The Red Bulls are coming off a draw versus the Columbus Crew, and they have earned points in four of their last five matches overall. The Red Bulls are 4-1-1 at home, and they have out-scored opponents 15-3 in those six matches. Take NYRB. GL, Jesse Schule

I'll take my chances here with Cincinnati on the road against the Royals. The Reds come in having won their last two after taking the series opener 5-1 in extra innings on Tuesday. Cincinnati is clicking offensively right now. The Reds are averaging 5.0 runs/game and hitting .299 as a team over their last 7 games. In comparison, the Royals are only averaging 2.3 runs/game and hitting .187 as a team in their last 7 games. Considering we have a pretty even pitching matchup with Cincinnati's Tyler Mahle and Kansas City's Jason Hammel, I'll gladly side with the team that's producing at the plate. Give me the Reds -106!

I think the books have set the total too high for Wednesday's NL East action that has the Braves hosting the Mets. New York will send out one of the best starters in the game in Jacob deGrom, who is 4-1 with a 1.57 ERA and 1.008 WHIP in 13 starts. deGrom has had no problem shutting down the Braves, as he owns a 1.84 ERA over 14 career starts against Atlanta. The Braves counter with Mike Soroka, who has been hit or miss in his 3 starts in 2018. However, his best start came against these Mets, when he allowed just 1 run over 6 innings. New York is also in a major funk at the plate right now. The Mets haven't scored more than 3 runs in 8 straight games and have scored 2 or fewer in 7 of those contests. Bet the UNDER 8!

#MLB FREE PICK FROM MIKE LUNDIN
I like the Miami Marlins to set themselves up for the sweep of this four-game series with a third straight win Wednesday night.
The Miami Marlins are just 6-7 when they hand the ball to Caleb Smith (5-6, 3.70 ERA) this season, but they've won three of the past four and the 26 year old has pitched well at Marlins Park all year compiling a solid 2.90 ERA in six starts.
The Giants' are 3-6 with rookie left-hander Andrew Suarez (2-4, 5.06 ERA) on the mound and in five road starts this year, Suarez is 1-2 with a 6.75 ERA.
The Fish are 7-1 against the Giants over the last two years, a dominance likely to continue here.
