Now they turn to a 28 year old minor league guy who is 7-6 with a 4.88 ERA now he has to take on that Boston lineup and Toronto's crap bullpen. It's a square play but tough to pass at Boston today we will lock and load with them for a 15* winner.

The third qualifying round of the Champions League continues on Wednesday as Scottish side Celtic host Greek side AEK Athens. Celtic won this opening Scottish Premier League match over the weekend 3-1 over Livingston which has Celtic in third on goal difference. Currently on an eight-match unbeaten run and winners of seven of these eight matches, Celtic have played in all three qualifying rounds. Over this eight-match stretch Celtic have outscored their opponents 24-2, this includes four Champions League matches and three Friendlies. In the Champions League Celtic are 3-0-1 in the first two qualifying rounds outscoring their opponents 9-1, playing out to a scoreless draw in their last match. At home in the Champions League, Celtic are 4-4-1 with losses to Barcelona, PSG, and Bayern Munchen. During this season's qualifying Celtic are 2-0-0 at home. For the visitors, AEK Athens wrapped the Greek Super League as winners last May with a six-point advantage over PAOK. Currently the 2018-19 season is not scheduled. Athens enters the Champions League at this qualifying stage with four preseason friendlies. Athens lost the Greek Cup 2-0 to PAOK in May, then has gone 1-1-2 in their four friendlies, winning their last match 3-2 over Galatasaray of Turkey. Athens have lost their last four Champions League matches only scoring 1 goal while conceding 9 goals Athens were knocked out of the Champions League qualifying last season by CSKA Moscow 3-0 on aggregate with a 10-year gap between appearances. This will be the first competitive meeting between these two sides.

This is a guy that recently held Washington and San Fran to just 1 run, and even Pitt to 1 run on the road, still has a 3.89 era even with that start and faces a Padres team that sends a newbie on the mound in Kennedy today who probably struggles a bit today and likely gets hit. The Brewers are 7-1 in their last 8 home games and Padres are 3-7 in their last 10 games after scoring 5 runs or more.

I'm backing the Red Sox with Johnson over Hauschild. We'll go back to the Sox once more after cashing a 7-Unit with them last night. Brian Johnson's overall numbers against Toronto don't look too hot, but dig deeper and you'll find the lefty is 2-0 with a 3.94 ERA in three starts at this venue. Johnson will face a struggling Toronto lineup averaging just 3.5 rpg in home night games against southpaws for the second straight season. We saw again last night that even if Boston's pitching isn't on its game, the offense can easily come through and save the day. The Sox plate over 5 rpg against right-handers and tonight they'll take their shot against Jays' righty Mike Hauschild. The Toronto hurler pitched well against Seattle in his 2018 debut on August 2, but Hauschild has a hefty 6.43 ERA in five career outings at the Major League level and was cut by the Astros triple-A affiliate just 9 days ago after posting a 4.9 ERA in 19 minor league starts. Boston has won 10 of Johnson's last 12 stars and they enter on a 16-4 run at Rogers Centre, while winning 11 of 14 meetings this season overall. Meanwhile, Toronto has won just 4 of their last 21 against teams playing better than .600 baseball. I'm backing the Red Sox on Wednesday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
