3-Unit Play. #386. Take Georgia -26 over Vanderbilt (Saturday @ 7:30pm est)
The common place theme is that "oh wow, look, Vanderbilt only lost to Notre Dame 17-22 so naturally they are going to lose by single digits to Georgia!". But, that's now how the progression of ballgames work. And, you have a Georgia team under Kirby Smart that beat Vanderbilt on the road last year by a score of 45-14. And, that team was not as remotely as good as this team. I know it sounds crazy, but just imagine if you took an entire class of 3* kids and replaced them with 5* Talent - and their backups as 5*Talents - that's what Georgia did. Georgia is significantly better this year than they were last year in our books - as they replaced some quality parts on offense but their defense is what is key as they are substantially better there under another year under Smart. Georgia will not overlook Vanderbilt like Notre Dame did. Georgia has the offense from the starter to the backup to points at will and after their lowest output of the year of 38 points against Tennessee, we like them to bounce-back offensively here and pick up a relatively comfortable win.

Kick Ass Favorite of the Week
Western Michigan (-4) vs. Eastern Michigan 12:00 PM ET
So eager to again face this “150 Club” fade team of Eastern Michigan. They are being outrushed 220/5.1 to 110/3.0. We scored a victory against them last week with series dominator Northern Illinois who outrushed Eastern 235-62 and even overcame 3 turnovers for the 26-23 OT victory. Playing home teams to -7 against these “150 Club” fade has been an over 70% proposition. Yet the public will be all over an Eastern Michigan team in their recent 12-1 ATS road dog log. The truth is Eastern has lost 3 consecutive games, all by 7 or less points, and may well be at the emotional breaking point. Western counters with the momentum of 3 consecutive victories including the momentum-building win at Miami, OH last week when they double rushed and outpassed the Red Hawks for a combined 561-368 margin. Look for Western’s 205/5.4 running game to control matters overland. When that happens QB Wassink, who threw for 5 TDP last week, will balance the offence and key this KICK ASS FAVORITE play.

7 Unit Play Take #404 Rice pick'em over UTSA (7:00pm est):

Back to back home wins for UTSA coming into this one but they very easily could have lost both of those games. They were able to catch a big break versus Texas State as TSU lost it's starting quarterback in the 1st quarter of that game and replaced him with a true freshman. The Roadrunners were also able to go +2 in turnovers in the game and used both of those of key points to win by just 4 points but they failed to cover the point spread in the game. UTSA came back last week and they pulled out another ugly victory over arguably the worst FBS team in the country by beating UTEP by just 9 points and once again they failed to cover the point spread while also being out-gained in the contest. UTSA scored two of their three touchdowns in the game coming off turnovers on very short fields (TD drives of 7 and 20 yards).

Rice hasn't looked very good at 1-4 overall on the season but there have been some bright spots if you dig in deep enough with them. First off the Owls have faced each of their last three opponents on the road and all four of their D-1 foes this year are teams that I would consider average FBS teams currently. They were in a tough spot last week having to go into Wake Forest and facing a motivated Demon Deacons team that was off back to back home losses in their previous two games. Rice also had the awful travel spot going to Hawaii earlier in the year to face a Rainbows squad that didn't have to deal with the difficult travel the week themselves in this one as they had played the previous week at home. The Owls actually played a decent game in that one as they had the football down just 6 points in the middle of the 4th quarter and ended up covering the spread. Rice also had another solid showing earlier in the year in their 45-28 point spread covering loss to Houston as they led that game by 10 points midway thru the 3rd quarter. All things added up I like some of the things I've seen from this Rice squad and really like them here back at home in a game against a team they can beat. Take Rice minus the points.

4 Unit Play Take #345 Buffalo -7.5 over Central Michigan (12:00pm est):

I think this line would have been at least been Buffalo -10.5 last week and maybe closer to -14 so were getting some nice line value here on Buffalo. The Bulls looked very good winning their first four games of the year before dropping their first game of the season last week and doing so in ugly fashion by a 42-13 score at home to Army. That non-conference game last week meant nothing to this talented Buffalo squad who's entire focus is to win the Mid-American Conference title. Things got away from the Bulls in that one as Army's strong rushing attack looked to have worn them down as they forced just one punt in the entire game to the Black Knights. You also have to wonder how much time Buffalo put into working on stopping the Army option in practice last week considering it was a non-league game for the Bulls. This is still a good team with some impressive showings on their resume so far this season.

Central Michigan is way down this year having lost a ton of guys since last season as they ranked near the bottom of CFB in returning starters entering the year. All things considered it looks like the Chippewas have put in some gutsy performances early on this year but a few of their closer losses weren't as close as the final scores appear including last week's 31-20 defeat at Michigan State as the Spartans took their foot off the gas in that one allowing CMU to score 17 points in the 4th quarter after trailing by a 30-3 score in the game. CMU pulled off a similar stunt earlier this year after falling behind 21-3 to Northern Illinois and losing by a 24-16 final score. The Chippewas lone win this year was against FCS foe Maine in a game that they gained just 177 yards in the contest which was nearly 100 fewer yards than Maine in what was overall a very ugly contest.

The Bulls are coming off an embarrassing loss last week. Look for a motivated and determined effort here in this one which is exactly what you want from a team that needs to win by a margin. Take Buffalo minus the points here.

4 Unit Play Take #369 California -2 over Arizona (10:00pm est):

Arizona has been very disappointing so far this season as it's becoming more and more obvious that the Wildcats are making some sweeping changes under their 1st year head coach Kevin Sumlin. Don't be fooled by last week's 24-20 loss at home to USC as Arizona was clearly outplayed in that one. The Wildcats were down 24-0 in the 2nd half of that game before they came back late against a Trojans defense that seemed to lay off quite a bit with the big lead. Arizona not only benefitted from a plus three fumble rate in that game, they also scored on a 4th down play with less than two minutes left in the game to get within one possession for the final score to look closer that it was but keep in mind they weren't a real threat in that one as they never got the football back with a chance to win that contest.

California is a team that I liked a lot coming into this year as they finished up last season much improved team going 5-1 against the spread in their last six contests. Expecting this team to improve even more so this year as it's the all important 2nd year under head coach Justin Wilcox. I felt the Bears 21-18 road win over BYU was much more impressive than the actual final score back in week two as they were in complete control of that game leading by two possessions late until giving up a meaningless touchdown with less than a minute left in that game. The same can be said also about their week one win over North Carolina as things did get a little uncomfortable very late after Cal had dominated that contest. Last week's 42-24 loss to Oregon wasn't good but that game was a lot closer than the final scored as the Bears were hurt by a -4 turnover margin in that one and the Ducks were extremely motivated off a heartbreaking loss the previous game. This program overall is way ahead of where Arizona is at currently and they should have no problem covering this low number here. Take California minus the points here.

4 Unit Play Take #412 San Jose State +3 over Colorado State (10:30pm est):

The wrong team is favored in this one. If San Jose State wins last week against Hawaii they likely would be favored here in this one as they blew numerous opportunities in that game before eventually losing that game in five overtimes. SJSU is a much improved team this year in their 2nd year under head coach Brent Brennan. The betting markets haven't caught on to where this team is at yet for a few different reasons as they've only played three games versus FBS foes to start the season, one of which was without their starting quarterback. They also lost but hung tough with a very good Oregon team losing on the road by just 13 points to the Ducks.

Colorado State has fallen way off this season. They lost a ton of guys to graduation from last year and it's shown as they were hammered in games against Hawaii, Colorado and Florida earlier this year. They also were soundly beat at home by FCS foe Illinois State in their last game losing by 16 points. Their lone win so far this year felt like a fluke as they came from 18 points back to pull off a miracle win over Arkansas at home in a game where you have to wonder if the high altitude played a factor as they outscored the Razorbacks scoring the last 25 points of that game over the final 18 minutes. Take San Jose State plus the points here.

3 Unit Play Take #379 UAB +9.5 over Louisiana Tech (7:00pm est):

Louisiana Tech comes in off a big emotional win last week at North Texas but LA.Tech caught some major breaks in that game as North Texas not only was -2 in turnovers for the game but they also missed two go ahead field goals in the 4th quarter of that game. I feel L.T also caught a break earlier in the season as they beat South Alabama at home by 4 points in a game. It looks like they got the much easier version of South Alabama in that game as the Jaguars didn't make a switch until the 4th quarter of that contes to the guy who's proven to be the much better of their two quarterbacks this season.

UAB has time and time again been undervalued in the betting markets as they come into this one 6-1 against the spread in their last 7 regular season games as an underdog. Even more impressive is the fact they not only covered the spread but they also won 5 of those 6 games straight-up including beating this LA.Tech squad last year when priced in a similar type of price range. Take UAB plus the points here.

3 Unit Play Take #357 Liberty -4 over New Mexico State (8:00pm est):

I've been very impressed with this Liberty Flames team early on this year. They won their opener in dominating fashion 52-10 over a decent Old Dominion team. In their next game they were down by just 10 points in the 4th quarter on the road against what's been a solid Army squad and overall it was a lot closer than the final score of 38-14 as Liberty was also hurt by the -3 in turnovers in the game. Last week they had to go on the road and face New Mexico who was off a bye and had two weeks to prepare and Liberty jumped all over them early taking a 42-10 halftime lead and held on in the 2nd half to win that game.

On the other side of things New Mexico State comes into this one 1-4 to start the year. Their lone win was in their last game and I had them in that one over UTEP but the reality is they didn't deserve to win that contest as they were lucky to score touchdowns off a punt return and fumble recovery return also. UTEP got inside the New Mexico State 10 yard line two times in that game where they were only able to score just one field goal. UTEP ended up with more than 100 yards of offense and 9 more first downs in the game overall. The Aggies lost a lot of talent from last year's squad and Liberty was one of the more experienced teams in the country coming into the season. Take Liberty minus the points here.

8-Unit Play: Take 382 Texas A&M -5.5 over Kentucky (7 p.m., Sat. October 6)
I'm laying the points with Texas A&M on Saturday night. Statistically speaking, Kentucky has surprised many with its perfect start to the season. We feel while they have played well, no doubt about it, they have also benefited from a so-so schedule. The Wildcat running game played a South Carolina defense ranked 92nd against the run and with an offense that leaves a lot to be desired. Kentucky was held to 353 total yards and no second half points by the same SC defense that gave up 30 first downs and 41 points to Georgia. Kentucky gained just 300 total yards in their biggest win, a victory over Mississippi State but the Bulldogs have just 1 TD and 2 FGs in SEC play the last two weeks. Saturday night in College Station, the one-dimensional Wildcats will finally face a team loaded on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Kentucky ranks 118th in yards passing per game. If they can't run the football they will find the going quite rough. Guess where the Aggie defense is at its best? Yup...defending the run, where they rank 3rd in the nation in yards rushing allowed per game. A&M also owns the best offense Kentucky will have seen, averaging over 510 yards per game and doing it with balance. QB Kellen Mond leads an attack that averages nearly 280 yards passing and more than 230 yards rushing per contest. And then there's the intangibles...Kentucky playing at Kyle Field for the first time...on a Saturday night! A&M has two losses on the season, while covering 4 of 5. They lost to Alabama, arguably the best CFB team in 20+ years. They lost by 2 to Clemson. And while they could have easily letdown last week against Arkansas, the defense was stout, holding the Hogs to 2.1 yards per carry and 249 yards of total offense. This line would have been around Texas A&M -14 before the season began. We understand the need for adjustments...but this one has been brought down a tad too much. We're laying the points with Texas A&M on Saturday night. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

3-Unit Play. Take #323 Syracuse (-3.5) over Pittsburgh (12:20 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6)
We can see why people would say this is a letdown spot for the Orange after losing a game at Clemson that they should have won, but the Orange weren't supposed to win that game. They were showcasing that they are a good team. The Orange are considerably better than many people gave them credit for at the beginning of the season. Syracuse has an offense that can play with any team in the country, outside of a few teams, and their defense showed, versus Clemson, that they are a solid side of the football. Pittsburgh just isn't very good regardless of where they are playing. Yes, playing in front of your home crowd is always a bonus, but the Panthers are just 7-17 ATS in their last 24 home games. The Orange meanwhile are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games overall and 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games. Take the Orange in this matchup as their offense will be too much for the Panthers to keep pace with.

4-Unit Play. Take #326 Central Florida (-24) over SMU (7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6)
Again, we see Central Florida not getting the respect they deserve. We jumped on a short line last week in the CFU/Pittsburgh game, and we are jumping right back on them this week. The only line that CFU hasn't covered thus far this season was when they were favored by 52 points! The final in that game was 38-0 though and the only reason they didn't cover is because they pretty much stopped playing as they were up 38-0 after the third quarter. Central Florida is the type of team that you take until they are favored by 30+ points. They are just considerably better than all of the teams on their schedule. I mean they are the reigning "National Champs..." The SMU Mustangs are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games while the Central Florida Knights are 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. Take the home team in this matchup as they are 6-0-1 ATS in the last seven meetings between these two teams.

3-Unit Play. Take #330 Ohio State (-26) over Indiana (4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6)
Indiana hasn't beaten anyone. Yes, they are 4-1, but the only good team they played was Michigan State and they were down 28-7 through three quarters before making it somewhat of a game in a 35-21 loss. Indiana did beat Virginia but they aren't very good at all. Ohio State on the other hard are really good. Their victory at Penn State was a truly impressive win. Penn State is a good football team and Ohio State went on the road and came back to win a game where they outgained and out possessed the Nitany Lions. Look for OSU to absolute roll an Indiana team that isn't ready for what's about to happen. The Hooisers just want to make a bowl game and they know that this isn't a game that they need to win to get to one. OSU won last years meeting 49-21 and this years homecoming should be more of the same.

3-Unit Play. Take #338 Michigan (-17.5) over Maryland (noon, Saturday, Oct. 6)
Michigan didn't come through for us last weekend, but if you watched the game it could've been a much different result if it wasn't for a phantom hold call. Now, we aren't saying they would've covered the big number, but Michigan had scored a touchdown, and had the ball back flying down the field. They had a 25-yard run called back on the weirdest hold call that we have ever seen. At that point the Wolverines would've taken the lead, and they wouldn't have looked back. That was then, and this is now. Michigan is going to steamroll Maryland. This is the type of game that ends 48-20. The Michigan home crowd is going to be the 12th man in this one as they haven't seen their squad since Sept. 22nd. This is the last of Michigan's unranked portion of the schedule as their next three opponents are currently ranked in the top 25. If Michigan had only one ranked opponent next it could be a look ahead, but in this situation its more about taking care of business before taking the next step. Maryland is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games while Michigan is 4-1 ATS in their last five home games. Take Michigan here as they are very successful coming into games off a loss (15-5-1 ATS in their last 21).

6-Unit Play. Take #348 Akron (-4.5) over Miami Ohio (3:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6)
This line keeps going down as Miami money comes in, but that money is going right into the pocket of the books. Akron has a legit defense and Miami Ohio's offense isn't scaring anyone. The Zips defense currently number two in the country in total defense. Akron has already defeated Northwestern and played Iowa State tough. Yes, the Zips offense isn't one that people are writing stories about, but Miami Ohio's defense isn't much better. Playing at home is going to be huge for the Zips in this game. They have had a great start to the season and as this is their first MAC game of the year they are looking to make a statement. The Redhawks won this matchup last year, and the Zips remember. Will revenge be the deciding factor? No, but it is on the minds of the Zips players, coaches, and fanbase. Miami of Ohio ranks 93rd in the nation in passing offense and 108th in the country in rushing offense. Even worse for Miami of Ohio is the fact that they have only converted 27 of 74 third down opportunities. That is huge when playing on the road and when playing a team that has only allowed teams to convert 14 of 47 third down opportunities. This game could be close for a while but in the end the Zips pull away to win 27-14. Take the Zips as they have covered eight of their last 10 conference games while Miami Ohio is an awful 0-5 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record.

4-Unit Play. Take #315 South Florida (-15.5) over Massachusetts (3:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6)
South Florida is undefeated this season and they are 5-0 SU going back to their bowl win over Texas Tech. They have won seven of their last eight games. The Bulls haven't been very good against the spread. But they should get a blowout win here. Massachusetts has one of the worst defenses in college football. This team gave up 55 points to Boston College, 63 points to Florida International, and 58 points to Ohio. I don't think they will be able to stop the Bulls attack. South Florida is 7-2 ATS against teams with a losing record and the Minutemen are 2-5 ATS in their last seven nonconference games. South Florida will be too much for Massachusetts and should win this shootout easily.

4-Unit Play. Take 'Under' 43.5 LSU at Florida (3:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6)
This is a big game in the SEC. Both of these teams need this win. These are two hated rivals that both have excellent defenses and erratic offenses. This total opened at 47.5 and has been bet down to 43.5. That tells me where the sharp money is going. This one should be a slugfest. Last year's game was 17-16 and the year before that it was 16-10. The 'under' is 4-2 in the last six meetings between these two teams. Going back further the 'under' is 15-7 in the last 22 meetings and is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings down in Florida. The 'under' is 7-1 in LSU's last eight road games and is 16-6 in the Tigers' last 22 SEC games. The 'under' is the play in this one.

3-Unit Play. Take #340 Cincinnati (-7) over Tulane (Noon, Saturday, Oct. 6)
The Bearcats are 5-0 and they are playing very well. They are 4-1 ATS in their five games and are coming off a big 49-7 win over Connecticut on the road. I think the Bearcats will be even better playing at home. Tulane is coming off a huge upset win over Memphis as a 14-point underdog. I think they will have a letdown here and their last road game was a 49-6 blowout loss at Ohio State. This game likely won't be a blowout loss. But I do think Cincinnati will be too much for them. The Bearcats are No. 5 in the country in defense and No. 2 in points allowed, giving up just 12.2 points per game. This defense should be able to shut down Tulane's option attack. Cincinnati is 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a losing record. Tulane is just 1-6 ATS on the road. Play Cincinnati.

3-Unit Play. Take #380 Louisiana Tech (-9.5) over UAB (7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6)
This is a matchup of two of the top teams in Conference USA. I am going with the home team. This spread opened at 8.5 and has been bet up by sharp money to 9.5. That tells me what I need to know. Louisiana Tech played LSU very tough two weeks ago. They then went on the road and took down a very good North Texas team to make it a 3-0 ATS run. Louisiana Tech is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall. UAB is just 2-4 ATS in their last six games and I think they are going to struggle here. Play the Bulldogs to get a double-digit home win.

6-Unit Play. Take #349 Notre Dame -7 over Virginia Tech (Saturday, October 6th at 8:00 PM ET)

Take Notre Dame ATS as my 6-Unit CFB Smash for Saturday. This pick falls into one of my top CFB systems and the Irish are hands down the superior team here on the road Saturday who I have winning by 14+ points. The Irish have had the 5th toughest strength of schedule in the country this season while the Hokies have had the 124th toughest strength of schedule. The Irish have averaged 32.8 ppg this season and that is against some very good teams and the Irish are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after a win by more than 20 points. The Irish have been covering machines during the month of October going 39-18-2 ATS in their last 59 games played in October and they will be able to move the ball against this Hokie defense that gave up 49 points to Old Dominion. The Irish bring a well-balanced offense into this game and they just handled a very good Stanford team with ease allowing just 55 rushing yards and 174 yards through the air in that 24-point win. Play Notre Dame ATS as the Hokies poor strength of schedule catches up with them Saturday night.

4-Unit Play. Take #392 Mississippi State +4 over Auburn (Saturday, October 6th at 7:30 PM ET)
Take Mississippi State ATS as my 4-Unit CFB Smash for Saturday. This pick falls into one of my top CFB systems and I have the Bulldogs winning this game by 4+ points over the Tigers at home Saturday. The Bulldogs had a letdown last week against a Gators team they should have beat and that loss is giving us a great line with the Bulldogs here Saturday. This is also a revenge game for the Bulldogs who lost by 39 to the Tigers last season and the bulldogs are 23-6 ATS in their last 29 games when playing a team with a winning record on the road. The Tigers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after a win and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games when playing a team with a winning record. Play Mississippi State ATS.

SATURDAY2* #339 Tulane +7.5 over Cincinnati 11:00 AM CTTulane stunned Memphis on Friday night with a blowout win to open the AAC season. It was 40-14 before Memphis added the final 10 points with the 14-point home underdog posting a 496-277 yardage edge and there were no turnovers. Last season Cincinnati won 17-16 in New Orleans with a rushing edge over the option attack from the Wave. Cincinnati is quietly 5-0 but the wins have all come against suspect competition, beating two MAC teams plus struggling UCLA and Connecticut squads. Tulane gets an extra day ahead of this game and there was nothing fluky about the win on Friday, Tulane was simply the more productive squad. The Wave are 2-3 but they had to play Ohio State in Columbus and the losses to Wake Forest and UAB came in tight games with single score results. Darius Bradwell and Corey Dauphine are both on pace for 1,000 yard seasons with Dauphine emerging of late and posting 10.2 yards per carry this season. Jonathan Banks has some mobility at quarterback and has just one interception in 112 attempts this season. Tulane has allowed only 4.0 yards per rush this season for a promising run defense with even Ohio State held to just 151 yards on the ground and last week the nation’s leading rusher Darrell Henderson was held to only 51 yards. Cincinnati ran for 409 yards against FCS Alabama A&M to inflate the season numbers but the Bearcast were out-gained on the ground in their last home game, a narrow 34-30 escape against the MAC’s Ohio. Cincinnati is 1-6 ATS the past two seasons as a home favorite while Tulane is 6-1 ATS the past seven games as an underdog of 14 or fewer points. Freshman quarterback Desmond Ridder has impressed but he is 29-36 vs. Alabama A&M and Connecticut where five of his eight touchdowns came, while going 38-64 against the three more competitive squads on the schedule. Through a light schedule Cincinnati has impressive pass defense numbers but that strength won’t matter much facing an option team. 2* #398 Texas +7.5 over Oklahoma 11:00 AM CTTexas has covered in five straight meetings of the Red River Rivalry, losing by five each of the past two seasons. After the OT scare vs. Army the Sooners appeared to dominate back in Big XII action last week. Texas had its big early lead threatened but held on vs. Kansas State. Only three Big XII teams remain unbeaten in league play and one will be bounced this week. Oklahoma has certainly looked vulnerable on defense but Kyler Murray is the playmaking quarterback the Longhorns haven’t had in recent years with a very limited passing game behind Sam Ehlinger, though Texas is well suited to slow the pace of this game to keep it close. Oklahoma looks suspect as a top 10 national playoff contender as the schedule so far hasn’t impressed with the wins over FAU and UCLA certainly downgraded at this point. Ultimately the points are appealing with Texas and a potential edge on the ground with opponents very productive vs. the Sooners of late. Baylor put up nearly 500 yards against Oklahoma last week in Norman after Iowa State and Army were also very productive against the Sooners. Texas has faced a demanding schedule facing five potential bowl teams and facing several excellent run defenses. Texas has allowed fewer than 20 points per game despite the tough schedule and Ehlinger has improved across the board this season statistically and hasn’t had an interception since the opening week. Oklahoma has played only one game away from home this season and has allowed at least 21 points in each of the last four games. Texas has gotten better as as the season has gone on and as games have gone on, allowing only 17 points combined in the second half of the past three games after allowing late scoring against Tulsa in Week 2. Texas has held opponents to just 6.3 yards per pass attempt and a 55 percent completion rate while allowing only four passing touchdowns in five games as Murray is likely to have his worst game this season. Texas meanwhile will face a Sooners defense that ranks 92nd nationally in yards per pass attempt allowed as the opportunity for the upset is there for the Longhorns.
1* #407 Florida State +14 over Miami, FL 2:30 PM CTAfter the opening week loss to LSU Miami has picked up four straight wins though last week’s ACC opener featured some good fortune. North Carolina had six turnovers, three of which Miami brought back for a defensive touchdown in a misleading 47-10 final score. The big plays on defense allowed N’Kosi Perry to coast with only eight completions in his first start after unseating long time starter Malik Rosier. After a rough start to the season Florida State has been climbing upward. Last season’s 24-20 win for Miami was the first win for the Hurricanes in this series since 2009 and Florida State has won six in a row on the road in this matchup. The Seminoles are back in the ACC picture with a road win over Louisville last week, even if they caught some good fortune in that game. The Seminoles needed a big comeback down 10 in the fourth quarter but Deondre Francois hit two big plays late to give Florida State some positive momentum after some challenges in the first month in a transition season for Willie Taggert. Florida State has gained just 2.8 yards per rush however and they now face one of the nation’s top run defenses but as a two-touchdown underdog a low scoring contest is appealing. The Hurricanes don’t look as good as last season’s team and Francois certainly has been in far more big games than Perry. Miami’s offense has scored just 57 points over nearly eight quarters behind Perry and the magnitude of this rivalry will put more pressure on a Miami offense that has struggled outside of the 77-0 win vs. FCS Savannah State that has greatly boosted the overall numbers. Florida State has allowed just 2.8 yards per rush as Miami will need to make plays in the air in this game and the Seminoles have won despite facing very good run defenses the past two weeks. Since the disastrous opening game against Virginia Tech, Francois has only two interceptions and nine touchdown passes while completing 63 percent of his passes. Syracuse nearly beat Clemson last week as the loss at the Carrier Dome might not look so bad by season’s end while Miami’s schedule has been extremely weak since getting blown out against LSU in the opening weekend. Florida State has been this significant of an underdog once since 2009 and this year’s Miami team doesn't look worthy of this type of valuation with Miami 4-6 the past two years as a double-digit favorite including 1-4 ATS in ACC games with last week’s cover vs. UNC with three defensive touchdowns the only exception.

Rotation #333-334
Florida +2 over LSU
It’s going to be the first sellout in the swamp in over 3 years with 90,000 people expected for this game. The Gators first year coaching staff has done pretty good although we admit they have not really been tested yet with a 4-1 record, but two road SEC wins are pretty impressive. LSU is one of those teams that the public has fallen in love with since day one this year. Joe Burrow is a good QB, but he is young and has not played in many road games. I do give him a lot of credit for his win at Auburn in his first true test, but the Tigers just are not the same team or at least were not in week 3. Florida has a solid offensive line, a good running game and Franks is a good enough QB to manage this offense. The Florida Defense does have issues in the secondary, but up front should get pressure of this Tigers Offensive line that has a lot of injuries on it this year. If Florida can slow up the run and cover up the TE position they should win this game behind the home crowd. Take Florida.

The Yankees have been so solid against left handed pitching this year and have been great with the bats ending the regular season. The Red Sox have been so solid against right handed pitching this year and have been great with the bats ending the regular season. This is a game in which you can count at some point the offense putting up crocked number innings. Look for the hot bats to continue. Take the Over.

7-Unit Play. Take 'Over' 7.0 Cleveland at Houston (4:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6)

The Astros put up seven runs yesterday. I think they can match that today. These two teams combined for nine runs against a 6.5 total yesterday. That happened against Corey Kluber and Justin Verlander, two of the best pitchers in baseball. I think that both lineups will be able to put some runs up today. The 'over' is 4-0 in Houston's last four home games and the 'over' is 13-3 in Houston's last 16 Divisional Round games. The 'over' is 9-3 in Gerrit Cole's last 12 home starts and 6-2 in his last eight starts overall. The 'over' is 18-8 when Carlos Carrasco starts against a team from the A.L. West. I see another high-scoring game and I will play this one 'over'.

3-Unit Play. Take 'Under' 9.0 New York at Boston (8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6)

Yesterday was a 5-4 game that went over the total. That was against a 7.5 line. But I think the books are overreacting with this line. It is almost a full two runs higher today. And arguably two better pitchers are on the mound. David Pirce posted a solid 1.14 WHIP and 3.58 ERA this season. Masahiro Tanaka has a 1.13 WHIP and a 3.75 ERA and he has been very good in the playoffs during his career. The 'under' is 7-2 in New York's last nine Divisional Round games and the 'under' is 5-1 in Tanaka's last six road starts. The 'under' is 4-1 in Boston's last five playoff home games. Take the 'under' here.

7-Unit Play. Take #063 Nashville -160 over NY Islanders (Saturday, October 6th at 7:00 PM ET)

Take Nashville on the moneyline as my 7-Unit NHL Smash for Saturday night. This pick falls into one of my top NHL systems and the Predators are hands down the superior overall team here tonight. The Predators are 6-1 in their last 7 games against a Metropolitan opponent and the road team is 5-0 in the last 5 games played between these two teams. The Islanders are 1-5 in their last 6 games against a Central opponent and just 3-8 in their last 11 home games dating back to last season. The Predators are 19-7 in their last 26 road games and 12-4 in their last 16 games when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. The Predators did not allow a power-play goal in their lone game this season and they have one of the best goalies in the NHL between the pipes while the Islanders do not. Play Nashville ML as we move to 4-2 on the NHL season.
