Take Green Bay ATS as my 5-Unit NFL Smash for Monday night. This pick falls into one of my top NFL systems and I have the Packers winning this game by 14+ points at home Monday night. The Packers handed the Lions the game last week with 3 turnovers while the Lions had none. The Packers held the Lions to just 170 passing yards in Detroit and just 94 yards rushing but the turnovers cost them big time in that game. The 49ers have depended on their running game this season, especially in their lone win that came against the Lions where they rushed for 190 yards, however they are now banged up offensively and face a Packers defense that is firing on all cylinders. The Packers have given up just 209 passing yards per game this season and just 88 rushing yards per game at home this season. The 49ers have allowed 30.3 ppg on the road this season and 29.2 ppg overall, and now they face one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL with an offense that is getting healthy. The Packers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games when playing a team with a losing record on the road and they know that they gave the Lions the game with turnovers last week, so you can expect them to take care of the ball at home Monday night. The Detroit Red Wings are still winless on the season and continue to look like the worst team in the NHL. Detroit began a 4 game road trip in Boston the other night where they gave up 8 goals to the Bruins and are averaging a leagues worst 4.40 GAA. Montreal is a much better team this year than they were last year and have already shown that they can play with the better teams. Montreal has already beaten Pittsburgh twice. Cary Price is still one of the best goaltenders in the league and owns a 2.32 GAA. I am hoping the Flu doesn't keep him out of tonight's game. If he doesn't start tonight Niemi will. He is 1-0 with a 2.77 GAA. Detroit has a bunch of injuries already this season and Montreal has had their number over the last five matches where they are 5-0. The Canadians have the better offense, defense and goalie. Take the Canadians at home.

2-Unit Play. Take #58 Nashville (-180)over Minnesota (8:05 p.m. Monday Oct. 15.)

The Nashville Predators will look to conclude their four game homestand with a 3rd straight win over the Minnesota Wild. The Predators are coming off a 3-0 victory over Winnipeg and then a 5-2 win over the NY Islanders Saturday night. Nashville is just too tough to beat at home and this will be a tough game for a Wild team who don't play great on the road. Minnesota really hasn't been playing that great either. The club has 1 win on the season which came in overtime. In their last two games their defense gave up 8 goals to Carolina and Chicago. Nashville's offense is just as potent as the Canes or Blackhawks and are much more sound defensively. Last season Minnesota went 3-1-1 verse the Predators but failed to notch a victory in Nashville. Bridgestone Arena will be rocking tonight and Nashville will put up a large total again. Take the Predators at home tonight.

For Monday, Raise the Bar 1500♦ is Green Bay over San Francisco. At 9:00 am eastern, the Packers are -9 points in Vegas and offshore. If the price should rise to -10 or -10 1/2 points, then buy the half-point down on the Packers.


Let's lay the wood with a Green Bay team that NEEDS this one desperately to keep pace in the NFC North. Minnesota was a winner yesterday to move to 3-2-1, while Chicago took the loss to move to 3-1 on the season. Detroit was idle, but the Lions did beat the Packers last weekend, as Green Bay missed the opening bell in trailing 24-0 at the break before falling 31-23.


Packers will start quick tonight, as Aaron Rodgers will be able to exploit the Niners banged-up secondary as Green Bay gets out to the early lead and forces CJ Beathard to play catch up in this one.


The Niners also have some injuries on offense where Breida and Garcon are dinged.


San Fran is just 1-4 straight up and against the spread this year, and just loss to the previously winless Arizona Cardinals.


Green Bay has gone 9-4-1 against the spread as the home favorite the last 3 years, and did cover as the home favorite their last time at Lambeau with the victory over Buffalo.


This one has 14-point win and cover written all over it.
