New Orleans Pelicans vs. Philadelphia 76ers Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

Pelicans vs. 76ers Preview and Predictions

by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Jimmy Butler era in Philadelphia is off to a strong start with wins in the last three games. The 76ers will try to make it four straight when they host a New Orleans Pelicans squad on Wednesday that averaged 131.3 points in winning their last three contests.

The Pelicans are winners of six of their last seven games as they prepare to kick off a three-game trip in Philadelphia and had four players score at least 21 points while handing out 34 assists in a 140-126 thrashing of the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. "When we play like that, unselfish, the open man gets the ball, playing for each other on both ends of the floor, we can beat anybody on any night," power forward Julius Randle, who recorded a triple-double with 21 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in 25 minutes off the bench, told reporters. "We are all having fun playing, and obviously winning is fun." The 76ers are having fun playing as well and watched star center Joel Embiid go off for 33 points and 17 rebounds in a 119-114 win over Phoenix on Monday. "I love his spirit," Philadelphia coach Brett Brown told reporters of Embiid. "I really thought his spirit was great tonight. When he started having that body language, you try to get him the ball."

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FS New Orleans, NBCS Philadelphia

ABOUT THE PELICANS (10-7): Randle averages 25.6 minutes but posts 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds while occasionally putting up big assist numbers. "I really did think that he played great," New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry told reporters of Randle. "Not just from the standpoint of being a facilitator. He took advantage of matchups to have a triple-double. I think this is maybe the fourth one he's had (in his career) or something. I just thought he played great. Really played with a lot of force. His rebounding was great. His play-making was great. He had a really good solid game." Star forward Anthony Davis had a solid game as well and is averaging 37.3 points during the three-game winning streak.

ABOUT THE 76ERS (12-7): Philadelphia is still ironing out its rotation after the addition of Butler but continues to find minutes for reserve power forward Mike Muscala, who scored a season-high 19 points in 23 minutes on Monday. "Mike was instrumental at making efforts going to the boards," Brown told reporters. "A few times, he got fouled. He was able to stretch the floor and make a three. I thought he did a good job." Butler added 16 points in the latest win and is averaging 18.3 in four games since joining the team.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Pelicans SG E'Twaun Moore is averaging 21.3 points on 62.2 percent shooting over the last six games.

2. Philadelphia is 9-0 at home.

3. The home team took each of the two matchups last season.

PREDICTION: Pelicans 131, 76ers 128

Indiana Pacers vs. Charlotte Hornets Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NBA Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

There is no player in the NBA hotter than Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker, who totaled 103 points in the last two games. Walker will try to put together another highlight-worthy performance and drag the Hornets to back-to-back wins when they host the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday.

Walker's 60 points weren't quite enough in a 122-119 overtime loss to Philadelphia on Saturday, but his 43 points on Monday proved to be just enough to sneak Charlotte past the Boston Celtics 117-112. "He's incredible," Hornets coach James Borrego told reporters of Walker. "This is a special player, a special performance and a special start to an NBA season. Every team is locked in on him, as I keep seeing. Every scouting report, he's the number one guy on that scouting report. They put the best defender on him and they have two or three bodies on him every single time and this guy continues to produce for us. He does whatever it takes for us to win. Kemba deserves all the credit. It's his work. It's his spirit. It's his drive." The Pacers are winners of three in a row and might have put together their best performance of the season in Monday's 121-94 win over the Utah Jazz despite missing All-Star guard Victor Oladipo (knee). "When I've been talking about ball movement and getting everyone involved, this is what we are talking about," Indiana coach Nate McMillan told reporters. "Tonight, they executed the game plan perfectly."

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FS Indiana, FS Southeast (Charlotte)

ABOUT THE PACERS (11-6): Oladipo's injury opened the door for rookie point guard Aaron Holiday, who scored a season-high 12 points in 15 minutes after Oladipo went down on Saturday and bested that mark with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting in Monday's triumph. "I think that kid has earned the right to be out on the floor and he's waited, he's been patient," McMillan told reporters. "I've talked about how tough it is to play a 10-man rotation, but we may have to look at that, look at a way to get him out on the floor. He's doing some really good things for us. I love the energy, I love the intensity he brings to the floor." Holiday totaled five points in the first 15 games of the season and did not get off the bench in 10 of those contests.

ABOUT THE HORNETS (8-8): Walker is 35-of-59 from the floor over the last two games, including 13-of-27 from beyond the arc. "For the most part, I've just been working on my game," Walker told reporters. "I come in here every night and get shots up, work on my game to make sure I'm staying as ready as possible for these kinds of moments. My teammates were looking for me, my coaching staff, they put me in great situations to score the basketball and, you know, I've just been making some shots." Walker's recent performances lifted him into the lead in the NBA in scoring at an average of 29.6 points.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Hornets SG Malik Monk is 3-of-26 from the floor over the last four games, including 0-of-16 from beyond the arc.

2. Pacers PF Domantas Sabonis handed out a season-high nine assists to go with 19 points and nine rebounds on Monday.

3. Walker averaged 22.8 points in four games against Indiana last season, winning twice.

PREDICTION: Pacers 120, Hornets 116

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NBA Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The response shouldn't be as vicious as the last time he returned to Cleveland after leaving the Cavaliers, but LeBron James isn't thinking too hard about it. James will make his return on Wednesday, when the Los Angeles Lakers visit the Cavaliers.

James led the Lakers to wins in seven of the last nine games, including a 113-97 triumph in the first half of his homecoming at Miami on Sunday. "I will think about some of the good, I will think about some of the bad, I will think about some of the great that I had with the franchise obviously and then once the tip ball gets going, it is time to go to work," James told reporters of his trip to Cleveland, where he helped the franchise win its first championship in 2016. "It will be good to see some of my family that will come to the game, see some of my friends as well and get the thing going." The Cavaliers look nothing like the four-time Eastern Conference championship squad that James left and owns the worst record in the NBA at 2-13. Cleveland appears to be making a turn toward rebuilding as the veterans find their way to the end of the bench or off the roster.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, ESPN, Spectrum SportsNet (Los Angeles), FS Ohio (Cleveland)

ABOUT THE LAKERS (9-7): James scored 51 points in his return to Miami and is second in the NBA in scoring at an average of 28.8 points. "I've played for three very, very historic franchises in the time that I played," James said. "Obviously, in Miami we did some historical things. In Cleveland we was able to do some historical (things). And obviously the Lakers (name) speaks for itself, what they've been able to do. And so, my teammates, my coaching staff, they just put that trust in me to go out and make plays, and I just try to be as efficient as possible when I'm on the floor and make things happen." James became the fifth player in NBA history to score 50 or more points with three different franchises, joining Wilt Chamberlain, Moses Malone, Bernard King and Jamal Crawford.

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (2-13): Shooting guard JR Smith, 33, was a big part of that 2016 championship team with James but is not with Cleveland as it attempts to trade the disgruntled veteran. "I don't think the goal is to win. The goal isn't to go out there and try to get as many wins as you can," Smith told The Athletic on Monday. "I think the goal is to develop and lose to get lottery picks. I think that was always the plan." All-Star forward Kevin Love is not going to appear in a Cavaliers uniform any time soon as well and expects to be out until the new year after undergoing toe surgery.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Cavaliers rookie PG Collin Sexton is averaging 18.6 points over the last five games but left Monday's loss with a hip injury and is day-to-day.

2. Lakers SG Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is 9-of-18 from 3-point range over the last four games.

3. Los Angeles snapped a seven-game losing streak in the series with a 127-113 victory on March 11 despite 24 points and 10 rebounds from Cleveland's James.

PREDICTION: Lakers 123, Cavaliers 106

New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NBA Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Boston Celtics are struggling with six losses in their past nine games and they look to change their fortunes when they host the New York Knicks on Wednesday. Boston is just one game over .500 due to its recent funk while New York is already 10 games below after losing its last six contests.

The Celtics were slated for an off-day Tuesday but coach Brad Stevens changed the schedule so the team could work on some shortcomings. "We've still got so many more games left to figure it out," backup point guard Terry Rozier told reporters. "I feel like we're still connecting and getting better at playing with each other." The Knicks are in disarray with six straight setbacks after suffering a 118-114 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday. "I really love the way we competed," New York coach David Fizdale told reporters after the latest loss. "You're talking about the top team in the West. That team has gone through a lot of wars."

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, MSG (New York), NBCS Boston

ABOUT THE KNICKS (4-14): Shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 32 points against Portland and has tallied 30 or more in each of the past three games. Hardaway is 12-for-28 from 3-point range and 26-of-29 from the free-throw line during the stretch as he continues to be New York's biggest bright spot. Backup point guard Trey Burke - a former college teammate of Hardaway's at Michigan - scored 19 points off the bench and is averaging 24.7 points over the past three games.

ABOUT THE CELTICS (9-8): Struggling small forward Gordon Hayward came off the bench for the first time in Monday's 117-112 loss to the Charlotte Hornets but his woes continued as he had just four points on 1-of-6 shooting over 31 minutes. "I'm OK with whatever I can do to help us win," Hayward told reporters of the change. "Right now, I just have to focus on myself and getting myself better and being a better basketball player." Hayward is averaging just 9.8 points and shooting just 38.9 percent from the field while being unable to find his form, stemming from the badly broken ankle he suffered 13 months ago.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Celtics went 3-1 against the Knicks last season, including home wins of 30 and 21 points.

2. New York PG Emmanuel Mudiay is averaging 15.7 points on 19-of-29 shooting over the past three games.

3. Boston C Al Horford (knee) is listed as probable.

PREDICTION: Celtics 114, Knicks 98

Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NBA Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Denver Nuggets have seen a hot start evaporate and they look to regain their season-opening form when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. Denver was clicking on all cylinders during a 9-1 start but has since dropped six of its last seven contests.

The Nuggets are 0-2 on a three-game road trip and let a 17-point, first-half lead get away in Monday's 104-98 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. "Overall, I was really pleased with the fight, with the competitive spirit and the fact that we gave ourselves a chance against a very good basketball team on the road," Nuggets coach Michael Malone told reporters afterward. "No moral victories. We gotta start winning these games, but I do like the fact that our guys competed at a high level for 48 minutes." Minnesota is seeking a rebound from Sunday's 100-87 home loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, when it committed 20 turnovers in the team's first loss in four games since trading disgruntled Jimmy Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers. "That definitely makes the game a lot harder," forward Robert Covington, one of the players acquired for Butler, told reporters of the miscues. "That's 20 times that we didn't get a shot up or something bad happened. We've just got to be better and fight through that."

TV: 8 p.m. ET, Altitude (Denver), FS North (Minnesota)

ABOUT THE NUGGETS (10-7): Point guard Jamal Murray recorded 17 points, a season-best nine assists and eight rebounds in the loss to Milwaukee but also matched his season worst of five turnovers. "I thought he did some good things out there for us," Malone told reporters of Murray. "I think, for him, the challenge is going to be valuing the basketball. As a starting point guard, you can't have five turnovers. But overall, forget numbers, it was good to see him be aggressive and have an effective game. He looked more aggressive than he has lately." Murray scored in double figures in 14 straight games, topped by a career-high 48 points against the Boston Celtics on Nov. 5.

ABOUT THE TIMBERWOLVES (7-10): Small forward Andrew Wiggins suffered through a 6-for-18 effort while scoring 14 points against Memphis and he said his shot selection wasn't the issue. "I feel like I just missed so many easy ones around the rim and in the mid-range with no one on me," Wiggins told reporters. "Good shots, I just missed them." Center Karl-Anthony Towns collected 20 rebounds against the Grizzlies for his second contest of at least 20 boards in the past four games and he has recorded eight double-doubles over the last 11 games.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Timberwolves went 3-1 against the Nuggets last season, including a 112-106 overtime victory on the final day of the season to make the playoffs instead of Denver.

2. Minnesota PG Jeff Teague scored a season-low two points on 1-of-9 shooting against Memphis.

3. Denver C Nikola Jokic scored 20 points against the Bucks and tallied 20 or more in four of the past six games.

PREDICTION: Timberwolves 115, Nuggets 111

Phoenix Suns vs. Chicago Bulls Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NBA Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

Two teams experiencing very little success square off when the Phoenix Suns visit the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. Phoenix owns the third-worst record in the NBA and is winless in seven road games while Chicago is just a half-game better after losing its past four contests.

The Suns fell to the Philadelphia 76ers 119-114 on Monday in the opener of a four-game excursion despite receiving 37 points and eight assists from star guard Devin Booker. Phoenix coach Igor Kokoskov decided to mix things up with his team struggling and he started Booker at point guard for the first time this season. Chicago expects to have standout shooting guard Zach LaVine back in the lineup after a one-game absence due to illness. LaVine scored 20 or more points in each of his 14 games before struggling in his last two appearances by averaging 12.5 points on 9-of-31 shooting.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, FS Arizona (Phoenix), NBCS Chicago

ABOUT THE SUNS (3-13): Center Deandre Ayton had 17 points and nine rebounds in his highly anticipated first matchup with 76ers center Joel Embiid. Ayton was ridiculed on social media by Embiid prior to the season but the rookie showed nothing but respect for the Philadelphia star during the contest and said he viewed the game as a learning situation. "It was fun to finally play against Joel," Ayton told reporters afterward. "The way he used his body, I'm going to use that, steal that. Thank you for teaching me. He put in a lot of work. I have to put in a lot of work, too."

ABOUT THE BULLS (4-13): Chicago's injury woes continue as shooting guard Denzel Valentine will undergo surgery on his left ankle next week and will be sidelined four to six months. Valentine displayed promise by averaging 10.2 points and 5.1 rebounds in 77 games (37 starts) last season but hasn't played this season due to the persistent pain in his ankle. Valentine is one of four key players dealing with injuries as second-year power forward Lauri Markkanen (elbow) has yet to make his season debut while forward Bobby Portis (four games played) and point guard Kris Dunn (one) were both lost in October with knee sprains.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Suns won both of last season's meetings for their first season sweep of the Bulls since 2007-08.

2. Phoenix SF TJ Warren scored 21 against the 76ers for his sixth straight 20-point outing and he is averaging 24.3 points during the stretch.

3. Chicago SF Jabari Parker scored in double digits in 16 of 17 games.

PREDICTION: Bulls 111, Suns 107

Detroit Pistons vs. Houston Rockets Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NBA Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Houston Rockets are regaining their swagger and look to extend their winning streak to five games when they host the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. The Rockets are looking for a sweep of a three-game homestand before the teams engage in a rematch in Detroit on Friday.

Houston looked lost offensively while failing to reach 100 points in four consecutive games earlier this month but followed that up with an average of 115.8 during the winning streak, including a season-best output in Saturday's 132-112 win over the Sacramento Kings. The victory moved the Rockets over .500 for the first time as the squad has quickly recovered from a dreadful 1-5 start. Detroit won four of its previous five games and built a 20-point halftime lead en route to a 113-102 home win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday. "At times we sat down and really played well defensively," Pistons power forward Blake Griffin told reporters. "And we moved the ball offensively well - at times, again. We didn't put together a full 48 minutes, so we've got to be better when it comes to that. You get a lead like that, you've got to finish it."

TV: 8 p.m. ET, FS Detroit, AT&T SportsNet Southwest (Houston)

ABOUT THE PISTONS (8-6): Detroit picked up four technical fouls in the victory over Cleveland and holds the dubious NBA lead with 15, and coach Dwane Casey vows to work on that issue. "I've done a bad job of setting the tone for that," Casey told reporters. "I've got to do a better job of setting the tone for our team. You get a technical, we got to find some reason or some consequence for that. We've got to have our composure." Center Andre Drummond already has seven technicals - an automatic one-game suspension kicks in at No. 16 - and Griffin has three.

ABOUT THE ROCKETS (8-7): Star guard James Harden scored 34 points against Sacramento and is averaging 29.6 points over the past five games to help the offense find a higher gear. Center Clint Capela recorded 23 points on 11-of-14 shooting and collected 16 rebounds and four blocked shots against the Kings for his 10th double-double, and his success in the interior is helping open up the perimeter. "We're making shots, playing the right pace, and it's our defensive end though," point guard Chris Paul told reporters after the win over the Kings. "We gave up over 100 but for the most part, the defense was good."

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The teams split last season's two meetings.

2. Drummond had 23 points and 16 rebounds against Cleveland for his sixth straight double-double, and he is averaging 21.3 points and 17.3 rebounds during the stretch.

3. Houston backup SG Gerald Green made a season-high five 3-pointers while scoring 17 points against the Kings.

PREDICTION: Rockets 127, Pistons 115

Memphis Grizzlies vs. San Antonio Spurs Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NBA Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

After flirting with last place in the Western Conference nearly all of last season -- finishing with the second-worst record in the NBA -- the Memphis Grizzlies are eyeing the top spot in the conference. The Grizzlies aim for their fifth straight win when they open a two-game road trip at the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.

A 98-88 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday put Memphis, a 22-win team a season ago, into a tie atop the West with three other teams as they approach the quarter pole, and the Grizzlies continue to do it with their trademark defense. "I think for our guys to come in here on a back-to-back, there's always those built in excuses, and for us to hold them to 14 points in the fourth quarter says a lot about our group of guys," coach J.B. Bickerstaff told reporters after Monday's win. "You could be tired. You could be worn out, no legs, and all that but our guys stepped up and defended. That's special." The Spurs had a very different experience Monday in New Orleans, allowing the Pelicans to shoot 57.8 percent from the floor in a 140-126 loss. At 8-8, San Antonio is in danger of falling below .500 for the first time since opening the 2015-16 season at 0-1.

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, FS Southeast (Memphis), FS Southwest (San Antonio)

ABOUT THE GRIZZLIES (11-5): Memphis entered Tuesday leading the league in scoring defense (100 points allowed per game) and turnover differential (-4.6) while ranking second in steals (9.8), but there's a development on the other end of the floor that could mean even more. After a cold-shooting start following an injury-plagued season, point guard Mike Conley is heating up and scored 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting against Dallas. "I think over the last few weeks, it's slowly starting to come around," Conley -- who is hitting 38.7 percent from 3-point range this month after making 28.2 percent in October -- told reporters. "My coaches and teammates have done a great job of trying to get me going, and tonight it all came together."

ABOUT THE SPURS (8-8): Monday marked San Antonio's fifth straight road loss and made a recent four-game streak of holding opponents under 100 points a thing of the past. "We scored 120-something points," guard DeMar DeRozan told reporters. "That's more than enough to win an NBA game. We just can't give up 140-plus points. That's just unacceptable." DeRozan carried the weight on the other end with 21 points while forward LaMarcus Aldridge continued his struggles by shooting 2-for-11 and scoring seven points.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Aldridge, who averaged 23.1 points per game last season, scored seven or fewer three times in his last seven contests.

2. Grizzlies C Marc Gasol has three straight double-doubles and averages 17.7 points and 10.4 rebounds this month.

3. San Antonio won each of the last six meetings.

PREDICTION: Grizzlies 106, Spurs 104

Sacramento Kings vs. Utah Jazz Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NBA Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Utah Jazz return from an uneven five-game road trip for a quick stay at home when they host the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. After opening the trip with a solid win over a surging Memphis team, the Jazz lost two straight -- scoring 68 points in a defeat at Dallas -- and then posted a very impressive victory at Boston, only to get throttled two nights later in Indiana.

"I just talked to the guys. I don't want to overreact, it's still early. But at the same time, you're going to lose in this league, but you can't keep getting your a** kicked like that," forward Jae Crowder told the Salt Lake Tribune after the 121-94 loss to the Pacers. "That's an a**-whupping, I feel like. It sends a message to the league. We need to be in every game, no matter who is on the court." Utah's last five losses have come by an average of 22.2 points and it sits a game below .500 with five out of the next six games on the road once the Kings leave town. Sacramento enters with some momentum after stopping the red-hot Oklahoma City Thunder in Russell Westbrook's return to the court Monday night. Buddy Hield scored 25 points -- including a trio of key 3-pointers late in the game -- in the 117-113 win.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, NBCS California (Sacramento), AT&T Rocky Mountain (Utah)

ABOUT THE KINGS (9-8): Hield is 10-for-20 from 3-point range over his last three games and scored at least 22 points in eight of his last 13 contests. "Right spots, right time," Hield told reporters Monday. "Just trying to pick spots where I could read the defense and the stuff they were giving up." Fellow guard De'Aaron Fox overcame a woeful shooting night (1-for-10) with 13 assists and veteran Iman Shumpert broke out for 23 points after averaging six over his previous four games.

ABOUT THE JAZZ (8-9): Second-year star guard Donovan Mitchell was as up and down as anyone on the trip and finished it with a clunker, scoring seven points -- his first single-digit effort since Feb. 7 -- and handing out only one assist in 32 minutes. "They came out and blew stuff up," Mitchell told reporters of the Pacers. "I had two turnovers early just from being loose with it. That set the tone." Fellow guard Ricky Rubio picked up much of the slack with a season high-tying 28 points while center Rudy Gobert recorded his 16th double-double, which ranks second in the NBA.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Mitchell scored 24 points to lead Utah to a 123-117 win at Sacramento in the opener for both teams Oct. 17.

2. Kings rookie PF Marvin Bagley III recorded his first career double-double Monday night with 15 points and 13 boards.

3. Sacramento C Kosta Koufos (calf) missed four straight games.

PREDICTION: Jazz 115, Kings 110

Thunder vs. Warriors Preview and Predictions

by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The fun-loving Golden State Warriors are a thing of the - very recent - past, and the discontent led the team to losses in each of its last three games and five of seven. The Warriors will try to turn things around when they return home to host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday.

Golden State has not been the same team since point guard Stephen Curry went down with a groin injury and an ugly incident between All-Star forwards Kevin Durant and Draymond Green, which led to a one-game suspension for Green. "We've had such a charmed existence the last four seasons," Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters after a 104-92 loss at San Antonio on Sunday. "This is the toughest stretch we've been in. This is the real NBA. We haven't been in the real NBA the last few years. We've been in this dream. And so now we're faced real adversity and we got to get out of it ourselves." The Thunder had a three-game winning streak come to an end with a 117-113 loss at Sacramento on Monday, which coincided with the return of star point guard Russell Westbrook. The former MVP collected 29 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and three steals in the setback and settled in after a slow start.

TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN, FS Oklahoma, NBCS Bay Area (Golden State)

ABOUT THE THUNDER (10-6): All-Star forward Paul George scored 27 points on Monday but was 9-of-24 from the floor, including 4-of-14 from 3-point range. "They play fast, they play early in the shot clock. It took us a second to get things under control," George told reporters. "General statement for the game: we didn't shoot well enough to win the game." Those shooting woes extended to the bench, from where point guard Dennis Schroder, who started the previous six games in place of Westbrook, was just 3-of-17 in his return to the reserve corps.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS (12-6): Golden State's offense is based on movement, sharing the ball and spacing, and the constant lineup changes brought on by new players and injuries are having an impact. "We've got to move the ball," Kerr told reporters. "We've got to trust each other. That's the hallmark of our team. We've got playmakers all over the floor. We've got guys who can dribble, pass and shoot. And what we've done the last few years is we've shared the ball. The ball has moved, and we've gotten each other great shots. We're not getting great shots right now. We're taking a lot of contested shots." Shooting guard Klay Thompson is having the toughest time getting his shot to fall and went 5-of-27 from 3-point range in losses at Houston, Dallas and San Antonio.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Durant is 1-of-17 from 3-point range over the last four games.

2. Thunder PF Nerlens Noel (illness) sat out Monday and is day-to-day.

3. Golden State is riding a three-game winning streak in the series, including a 108-100 home triumph on Oct. 16.

PREDICTION: Thunder 112, Warriors 109

New York Islanders vs. New York Rangers Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NHL Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The New York Rangers have turned around their season by recording at least one point in nine of their last 10 games (8-1-1), but the lone regulation loss in that stretch continued a disastrous run against their cross-town rival. The Rangers, who dropped a 7-5 decision to the New York Islanders last week, will bid to snap an eight-game skid in the series on Wednesday when the clubs meet at Madison Square Garden.

"We have a little bit of a chip on our shoulder because of how (the series has) gone as of late," Rangers defenseman Brendan Smith told Newsday. The Rangers rebounded from their setback to the Islanders to double up both Florida and Dallas to extend their winning streak at MSG to six games heading into the finale of their three-game homestand. Anthony Beauvillier recorded career firsts with both a hat trick and a four-point performance (three goals, one assist) against the Rangers before netting his fifth goal of the season on Sunday as the Islanders fell to 7-3-2 in their last 12 outings following a 6-2 setback to the Stars. "He looks like a completely different player. Think he's got a little confidence, obviously ... I think he's playing freer," Islanders coach Barry Trotz said of the 21-year-old Beauvillier.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, MSG, MSG2

ABOUT THE ISLANDERS (10-7-2): Mathew Barzal set up Scott Mayfield's third-period tally on Sunday to boost his point streak to a season-high five games, during which he has a goal and five assists. The reigning Calder Memorial Trophy recipient, Barzal notched one of his team-leading 16 assists in the last encounter with the Rangers and enjoyed a five-point performance (two goals, three assists) in a 7-2 win at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 13. Leo Komarov and Brock Nelson each scored and set up a goal against the Rangers last week, with the former carrying a three-game point streak into Wednesday's tilt.

ABOUT THE RANGERS (11-8-2): Filip Chytil became the first teenager in franchise history to score in four straight games in Monday's 2-1 win over Dallas when he netted the go-ahead goal early in the third period. "I am happy we are winning and I can help the team with goals," the 19-year-old Chytil said. "I am trying to play hard and play my game." Fellow forward Chris Kreider scored twice against the Islanders last week to give him seven points (four goals, three assists) in his last five games overall and five (three goals, two assists) in his last seven contests in the series.

OVERTIME

1. Rangers G Alexandar Georgiev carries a three-start winning streak into Wednesday's contest.

2. The Islanders are 7-0-0 against Metropolitan Division rivals this season.

3. Rangers C Mika Zibanejad has collected 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) in his last 17 contests.

Dallas Stars vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NHL Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Pittsburgh Penguins are mired in one of their worst tailspins in over a decade, winning only once in their last 10 games, but there may be a reason for optimism on the horizon. Penguins captain Sidney Crosby participated fully in practice Tuesday for the first time in a week and could be back in the lineup for Wednesday's home game against the Dallas Stars.

Pittsburgh suffered its fourth straight loss Monday night, squandering a three-goal lead in a 5-4 loss to visiting Buffalo, so coach Mike Sullivan is hopeful Crosby is nearing a return. "He looks pretty close to me," Sullivan said Tuesday. "He had a strong practice today. We'll see how he responds. His status is still day-to-day, but obviously he had a real good practice today and that's encouraging." The Stars are dealing with a key injury of their own as goaltender Ben Bishop was hurt in Monday's loss to the New York Rangers. Dallas has split the first two contests of its three game road trip and has won six of eight against Pittsburgh over the previous four seasons.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FS Southwest Plus (Dallas), AT&T Sportsnet-Pittsburgh

ABOUT THE STARS (11-8-2): Bishop turned aside 12 of 13 shots against the Rangers before exiting with a lower-body injury that is expected to sideline him for at least one week, Dallas coach Jim Montgomery said Tuesday. Backup Anton Khudobin, who made 29 starts for Boston last season, will take a 2.37 goals-against average and .925 save percentage into Wednesday's matchup. "It's not easy, but that's the part of the job," Khudobin said. "Not really that I'm planning that I am playing every day, but at the same time I have to prepare for it. Nothing changes."

ABOUT THE PENGUINS (7-8-4): Crosby, who has missed three games due to an upper-body injury, skated on a line with Jake Guentzel and Patric Hornqvist on Tuesday but was non-committal about playing against Dallas. "It's always difficult watching," Crosby said. "You want to be with the group regardless of winning or losing. You want to be out there, but especially when you lose. You want to go out and help in any way you can. Just trying to stay positive and do my best to get back." Center Evgeni Malkin did not practice Tuesday but is expected to play Wednesday.

OVERTIME

1. Penguins F Tanner Pearson had a goal and an assist Monday, his first points in three games since he was acquired from Los Angeles.

2. Stars C Tyler Seguin has scored four times in the past six games and has eight goals in 21 contests versus Pittsburgh.

3. Malkin has seven assists during a four-game point streak, including two in three straight contests.

PREDICTION: Penguins 4, Stars 3

Montreal Canadiens vs. New Jersey Devils Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NHL Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Montreal Canadiens were well on the way to matching their longest winning streak of the season, only to blow a two-goal lead and fall in overtime to the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals. The Canadiens will look to rebound from the 5-4 setback when they begin a two-game road trip with a visit to the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night.

"It's tough to lose when you're leading 4-2. We want to win," said Montreal's Brendan Gallagher, who scored his 10th goal and had a game-high seven shots on net. The Canadiens, already without top defenseman Shea Weber, learned Tuesday that fellow blue-liner Noah Juulsen will be sidelined indefinitely due to a facial fracture sustained in Monday's loss. New Jersey has dropped 11 of 15 games since opening the season with four consecutive wins but the team received good news on the injury front Tuesday. Coach John Hynes said No. 1 center Nico Hischier should be "good to go" after missing the last four games due to a thumb injury.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, Sportsnet1, RDS2 (Montreal), MSG-Plus 2 (New Jersey)

ABOUT THE CANADIENS (11-6-4): Juulsen, Montreal's first-round draft pick in 2015, was hit in the face with the puck in the first period Monday. With the Canadiens down to five defensemen, Jeff Petry played a staggering 33 minutes, 51 seconds to pick up the slack and also contributed at the offensive end with a goal and an assist. "I think he's been especially good for us this year. That's important because of Shea's injury," coach Claude Julien said. "Petey is one of the players who raised the level of his game and helped us fill the void in Weber's absence."

ABOUT THE DEVILS (8-9-2): Hischier, the top overall pick in the 2017 draft who has 12 points in 15 games, centered Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri at Tuesday's practice and also worked with the top power-play unit. "Nico is our first-line center and a big part of our future, a big part of our team," Hall said. "Hopefully he's healthy and ready to go and maybe a bit more energized after missing some games. It'll be good to have him back, not only for our team, but our line as well." Travis Zajac had two goals and four points in three games versus Montreal last season.

OVERTIME

1. Canadiens F Max Domi has five goals and nine assists in a 10-game point streak, the longest for the team since 1996.

2. Devils G Cory Schneider has lost 16 straight regular-season starts dating to 2017-18.

3. Montreal recalled F Michael Chaput from Laval of the American Hockey League.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Carolina Hurricanes Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NHL Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

Auston Matthews' absence from the lineup has not slowed down the Toronto Maple Leafs, who aim for their fifth consecutive victory when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday. The Maple Leafs have won seven of their last eight contests - all without Matthews, who hasn't played since Oct. 27 because of a shoulder injury.

Toronto extended its winning streak to four games Monday, overcoming a two-goal deficit to post a 4-2 victory over Columbus. John Tavares forged a 2-2 tie late in the second period before setting up the first of two third-period goals by Zach Hyman, who had tallied once in his first 20 games this season. Carolina continues a six-game homestand on which it has gone 2-1-1 following a 2-1 triumph over New Jersey on Sunday. Micheal Ferland scored his third goal in four games to become the first member of the Hurricanes to reach double digits.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, Sportsnet (Toronto), FS Carolinas

ABOUT THE MAPLE LEAFS (15-6-0): Tavares leads the team with 13 goals after recording five in his last six contests. The 28-year-old center has landed on the scoresheet in 10 of his last 12 games, collecting seven tallies and seven assists in that span. Mitch Marner, who set up a pair of scores against the Blue Jackets and tops the club with 28 points, is riding a five-game point streak during which he has registered one goal and eight assists.

ABOUT THE HURRICANES (9-8-3): Ferland got his name in the franchise record book Sunday, scoring at the 30-second mark of the first period after captain Justin Williams tallied eight seconds earlier. They were the fastest two goals to open a game in franchise history and tied for the fifth-fastest in league annals. Williams' tally ended his 14-game drought and put him nine away from 300 for his career.

OVERTIME

1. Hurricanes C Sebastian Aho, who leads the team with 23 points, registered two goals and four assists during his four-game streak before being kept off the scoresheet Sunday.

2. Toronto D Morgan Rielly is three points shy of 200 for his career as he is riding a six-game streak during which he has collected three goals and five assists.

3. Carolina LW Teuvo Teravainen has recorded a goal and four assists over his last five contests.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Washington Capitals Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NHL Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Chicago Blackhawks have begun to turn things around with points in four straight contests as they embark on a difficult stretch of six games by visiting the reigning Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals on Wednesday night. Chicago is 2-0-2 in the last four contests and will visit Tampa Bay, Florida, Winnipeg and Nashville along with entertaining Vegas during the next 11 days.

"The schedule is not as (important) as how we're playing," Blackhawks coach Jeremy Colliton told the Chicago Tribune. "And, OK, we're playing better. It's nice to see us get rewarded with some points. That just helps us keep momentum going, keep the belief going that, hey, we're on the right track." Chicago captain Jonathan Toews said the team is finding its confidence as it prepares to take on the Capitals, who won three of four on a just-completed road trip that saw them lose two of their top five scorers to head injuries for two contests. Center Evgeny Kuznetsov (21 points) and right wing T.J. Oshie (nine goals) are questionable for Wednesday, but goalie Braden Holtby returned after missing three games to stop all 22 shots in relief as Washington rallied from two goals down to beat Montreal 5-4 in overtime Monday. "I think (Montreal) had a pretty lucky start to the second period, you know, three shots on goal and everything goes in," captain Alex Ovechkin told reporters. "We just regrouped, no panic. We knew we had plenty time to bounce back."

TV: 7 p.m. ET, WGN (Chicago), NBCS Washington

ABOUT THE BLACKHAWKS (8-8-5): Left wing Brandon Saad has scored in back-to-back outings and boasts six goals in the past 11 contests after being shut out the first eight games of the season. "When (Saad) goes there and demands the puck, it's fun to watch because it's so hard to take it off him," Toews told the Tribune. "He's powerful, he's protecting it so well, and he just opens up so much space for his linemates." Right wing Patrick Kane leads the team with 25 points and seven of them have come in the last seven games while Toews has five of his 18 in the past four contests, including two goals and three assists.

ABOUT THE CAPITALS (10-7-3): Ovechkin has scored three of his team-best 15 goals in the past two games and shares the team lead in points (23) with center Nicklas Backstrom, who scored twice in the last two contests. John Carlson was fourth in scoring among defensemen in the league with 21 points entering Tuesday after recording three of his 16 assists in the past two contests. Brooks Orpik underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday and is expected to miss 4-to-6 more weeks, giving fellow defenseman Madison Bowey (three assists, plus-3 rating, 13 games) more time to win a spot in the lineup.

OVERTIME

1. Washington C Lars Eller scored the winner in overtime Monday, his first goal in nine games.

2. Chicago G Corey Crawford allowed two goals on 100 shots in the last three games, going 2-0-1 in that stretch.

3. Capitals F Tom Wilson has a goal and four assists in four games since returning from a suspension.

Flyers vs. Sabres Preview and Predictions

by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Buffalo Sabres have made it a habit of erasing third-period deficits, so much so that they have accomplished that feat five times during their six-game win streak. The Sabres bid to keep surging ahead on Wednesday when they host the Philadelphia Flyers, who overcame a four-goal deficit in the third period before dropping a 6-5 overtime decision in their last contest.

"There's a bit of confidence now because we've done it a few times. I think it's a trust and a belief in each other," said captain Jack Eichel, who scored 45 seconds into overtime on Monday as Buffalo overcame a three-goal deficit to win its sixth straight for the first time since the 2009-10 season with a 5-4 victory versus Pittsburgh. The resilient Sabres have won all six contests by one goal -- with four coming either in overtime or a shootout -- heading into a stretch of three games in four nights. Philadelphia has dropped its last three contests (0-2-1) despite outshooting its foes by a combined 104-83 margin, including 45-26 in Saturday afternoon's wild 6-5 overtime loss to Tampa Bay. "We've talked about different things we can do a little better -- simplifying things, making sure we're getting to the net," Flyers coach Dave Hakstol said, per Philly.com. "To have the floodgates open in the third period the other night was needed and was a good thing for us."

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, NBCS Philadelphia-Plus, NBC Sports Network

ABOUT THE FLYERS (9-9-2): Alex Lyon, who posted a 4-2-1 mark in 11 appearances with Philadelphia in 2017-18, is expected to make his first NHL start of this season on Wednesday after being recalled from Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League last week. "I've prepared the right way," the former Yale star said after Tuesday's practice. "I'm just sticking to the same game plan. I just tried to go out and have a really good practice today, and whenever the situation may call, I'll be ready for it." The Flyers have been much more ready on the road, where they are 3-0-1 in their last four overall and 5-3-1 on the season as opposed to 4-6-1 at Wells Fargo Center.

ABOUT THE SABRES (13-6-2): Jeff Skinner has embraced playing on a line with Eichel and Jason Pominville, scoring eight of his team-high 14 goals this month. "You want to have success individually, as a line and as a team," the 26-year-old Skinner told the Buffalo News. "Obviously, it's a pretty small sample and for us we want to try to sustain it over a long period of time. ... We've had some success and now the key is to keep working every day to get better and keep improving." Eichel has 19 (two goals, 17 assists) of his club-best 24 points in his last 14 games while Pominville has 16 (eight goals, eight assists) in that stretch.

OVERTIME

1. Philadelphia C Sean Couturier (team-leading eight goals) tallied twice in three encounters last season with Buffalo.

2. The availability of Sabres D Marco Scandella (knee) is unclear after he was on the receiving end of Evgeni Malkin's shot on Monday.

3. The Flyers went 3-for-5 on the power play on Saturday after going for 2-for-32 in their previous 11 games.

Boston Bruins vs. Detroit Red Wings Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NHL Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Boston Bruins hope to have one of their injured defensemen back in the lineup when they conclude their four-game road trip Wednesday against the Detroit Red Wings. Kevan Miller, who hasn't played since Oct. 18 because of a hand injury, looks to become the first of Boston's six ailing blueliners to return to action after participating in practice the past few days.

"That's the plan. We'll see. He'll be a game-time decision," Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy told reporters Monday. "He's been practicing. ... (He) should be cleared and good to go for Wednesday." Boston improved to 1-1-1 on its trek with Saturday's 2-1 triumph at Arizona in which Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson scored his first career goal 72 seconds into the contest. Detroit, which edged New Jersey in overtime Saturday for its fifth win in six games, may get two injured players back for Wednesday's Original Six showdown. Thomas Vanek (knee) and defenseman Jonathan Ericsson (lower body) have been practicing and are possibilities for the lineup barring any setbacks.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, NESN (Boston), FS Detroit Plus

ABOUT THE BRUINS (11-6-3): While Miller figures to return, Boston still will be without defensemen Zdeno Chara (knee), Charlie McAvoy (concussion), John Moore (lower body), Brandon Carlo (upper body) and Urho Vaakanainen (concussion). Also missing from the lineup will be Patrice Bergeron, who is battling an upper-body injury he suffered against Dallas on Friday. Despite sitting out Saturday's victory, the 33-year-old center leads the team in assists (17) and points (26).

ABOUT THE RED WINGS (9-9-2): While Vanek and Ericsson are on the verge of returning, Darren Helm is likely to be sidelined for some time because of the upper-body injury he suffered in the win over the Devils. "He was evaluated today," coach Jeff Blashill told reporters Monday. "Like I said after the game, this is not a day-to-day thing. He'll be out a good amount of time." Dylan Larkin, who scored the game-winning goal Saturday, leads the team with 19 points and has landed on the scoresheet in four of his last five contests.

OVERTIME

1. Bruins RW David Pastrnak, who tops the club with 17 goals, collected five tallies and three assists during a three-game point streak before being kept off the scoreboard in each of his last two contests.

2. Detroit C Frans Nielsen ranks third on the team with 10 assists but has yet to record a goal this season.

3. Boston LW Jake DeBrusk has registered three goals in as many games to pull within one of Bergeron (nine) for second on the team.

Florida Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NHL Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Tampa Bay Lightning return to Amalie Arena after an eventful 2-2-0 road trip and face the Sunshine State rival Florida Panthers on Wednesday for the first time since opening night to start a five-game homestand. Tampa Bay, which earned a 2-1 shootout victory over the Panthers on Oct. 6, won a pair of wild games in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia before coming up short 3-2 despite a furious finish Monday in Nashville.

"To be honest, I thought we would tie that game and win," Lightning goalie Louis Domingue told reporters. "It's one of those nights where it just didn't quite bounce for us at the end. ... Most of the time we're going to win those games. The Lightning lost No. 1 goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy (foot) to injury early in the trip, scored four power-play goals in Pittsburgh, blew a four-goal lead in Philadelphia before winning in overtime and outshot Nashville 14-5 in the third period. Florida earned its sixth win in eight games Monday with a 7-5 triumph at Ottawa, but lost a key player indefinitely as center Vincent Trocheck went down with a serious leg injury. The Panthers will need even more from their top players as left wing Mike Hoffman boasts a 16-game point streak and right wing Evgenii Dadonov has hit the scoresheet in 14 of his last 15 contests.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, FS Florida, FS Sun (Tampa Bay)

ABOUT THE PANTHERS (8-7-3): Trocheck had three goals and 11 assists in 18 games before the injury and was coming off career highs of 31 tallies and 75 points in 2017-18. "We know it's not going to be a short-term thing, by the looks of it," Panthers coach Bob Boughner told reporters of Trocheck. "He's an important piece to the puzzle in there. He's one of our leaders; the guy that plays with a lot of passion every night." Captain Aleksander Barkov recorded four goals and four assists in the last seven games while defenseman Keith Yandle is tied with him at 17 points - two behind Hoffman and Dadonov.

ABOUT THE LIGHTNING (14-6-1): Domingue has faced a barrage of shots during some loose play by Tampa Bay since taking over in Buffalo to start the trip, turning aside 116 of 129 shots (.899 save percentage). Center Brayden Point stayed hot with two assists in Nashville after scoring five times in the previous two games and leads the team with 14 goals and 26 points while boasting a plus-7 rating. Right wing Nikita Kucherov has six of his 24 points in the last three games (one goal) and versatile forward Yanni Gourde gives the Lightning three players with 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists).

OVERTIME

1. Florida F Juho Lammikko tied a franchise record with four assists Monday and could get more playing time with Trocheck out.

2. Tampa Bay D Erik Cernak, who is replacing injured D Anton Stralman (upper body), notched his first NHL point Monday (assist).

3. The Lightning have earned at least a point in six of the last seven games (5-1-1) against the Panthers.

Ottawa Senators vs. Minnesota Wild Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NHL Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

It was the same old story for the Ottawa Senators during Monday's 7-5 loss to Florida as they've had no problem scoring goals this season, sitting tied for first in the league with 75, but can't keep the puck out of their own net having given up a league-leading 88. The Senators will hope for a better defensive effort Wednesday when they visit the Minnesota Wild to begin a four-game road trip.

Senators center Matt Duchene added two goals and an assist Monday to move into a tie with Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin for fifth in league scoring with 27 points, but the 10-year veteran knows that scoring is just half the battle when you're looking for wins. "Allowing seven goals is not good enough," Duchene told reporters. "Half of that is not even what we want to be giving up. We can tighten up and be better there." Zach Parise is on pace for 37 goals this season - which would be his most since 2009-10 - after he potted the Wild's only goal in their 3-1 loss to the Blackhawks on Sunday. Center Mikko Koivu and defenseman Matt Dumba extended their point streaks to four games as they assisted on Parise's power-play marker in the second period.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, Sportsnet 360 (Ottawa), FS North (Minnesota)

ABOUT THE SENATORS (9-9-3): Craig Anderson gave up six of Florida's seven goals in less than two periods Monday before being pulled, bumping the netminder's goals against average to 3.78 - his worst since his rookie season with the Blackhawks in 2003. Thomas Chabot is doing the best he can to help Senators fans forget Erik Karlsson as the 21-year-old was tied for the league lead in assists by a defenseman with 19 (San Jose's Brent Burns) entering Tuesday and is one point away from tying his total output from last season (25). Ottawa looks like they made the right decision on draft night when they took Brady Tkachuk with the fourth pick as the teenage rookie scored another goal Monday, giving him 10 points in his first 10 NHL games.

ABOUT THE WILD (12-7-2): With their loss to Chicago, the Wild lost consecutive games in regulation for the first time this season after dropping a 3-2 contest to Buffalo at home on Saturday. "It's a good thing we're not accustomed to losing two in a row," Parise told the media. "But now you just have to make sure it's not three in a row." Minnesota can take solace knowing that the opportunities are there as they scored only three goals in the two losses but outshot the Blackhawks 40-28 and the Sabres 39-29.

OVERTIME

1. The Senators are giving up 5.6 goals per game over their last seven away from home - six of which have been losses.

2. Duchene and teammate Mark Stone are tied for the league lead in November scoring with 16 points apiece, two more than Montreal's Max Domi. More impressively, the pair are not playing on the same line.

3. Minnesota's penalty killing ranks third in the NHL at 84.9 percent while Ottawa sits last at 68.2 percent.

St. Louis Blues vs. Nashville Predators Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NHL Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

St. Louis lost its scoring touch and it ultimately cost coach Mike Yeo his job as the Blues try to snap an eight-game losing streak in Nashville against the Predators on Wednesday. St. Louis fired Yeo on Monday and replaced him with interim Craig Berube, who must figure out a way to reignite an offense that hasn't scored in 142 minutes, 48 seconds.

"We have a lot of chances," Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko told reporters. "You can see it from upstairs too. Chances come off of hard work. It's not from fancy chances or good plays. ... It's hard to win when you don't score goals." Tarasenko is part of the issue as the 26-year-old Russian, who averaged 37.3 goals over the past four seasons, has six in 2018-19 while riding an eight-game scoreless streak. Nashville rebounded from its only losing streak of the season (0-2-1) that ended a five-game road trip by winning the first two of three straight contests at home, including a 3-2 victory over Tampa Bay on Monday that gave it an NHL-best 31 points. The Predators are 3-for-7 on the power play in their last two games, improving their second-worst league average to 13.6 percent after going 0-for-15 in the previous three contests.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, FS Midwest (St. Louis), FS Tennessee (Nashville)

ABOUT THE BLUES (7-9-3): Ryan O'Reilly has scored seven of his team-high 10 goals in nine November games with St. Louis getting shut out in three of those contests and also paces the club with 23 points. Alexander Steen (five goals) is day-to-day with an upper-body injury while Jaden Schwartz, who has two goals and nine points in 15 games this season after totaling 24 and 59 in 2017-18, is expected to miss his third straight contest (upper body). Jake Allen (5-5-3, 3.33 goals-against average, .895 save percentage) has yielded one goal in each of his last three games and is 6-5-0, 2.73, .915 in 12 games versus Nashville.

ABOUT THE PREDATORS (15-5-1): Ryan Johansen leads the team with 20 points (16 assists) after recording a goal and an assist Monday while Filip Forsberg (19 points) scored his club-high 13th goal of the season Monday. Pekka Rinne (8-2-1, 1.69, .942) leads the league in GAA and SP, and is 23-16-4, 2.02, .930 with four shutouts in 43 games versus St. Louis. Defenseman P.K. Subban (upper-body injury) hasn't played since leaving a 5-4 loss at San Jose on Nov. 13 and while he's eligible to return from injured reserve Wednesday, he hasn't been on the ice with the team since.

OVERTIME

1. The Blues are 0-for-14 on the power play over the last six games, falling to ninth in the league at 24.2 percent, while the Predators' penalty-killing unit is 13-for-14 in the past five contests.

2. Rinne won his 319th game Monday, tying him with Miikka Kiprusoff for most victories by a Finnish-born goaltender.

3. Nashville swept the four-game season series in 2017-18 after defeating St. Louis 4-2 in the 2017 Western Conference semifinals.

Vegas Golden Knights vs. Arizona Coyotes Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NHL Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Vegas Golden Knights used the Arizona Coyotes as a springboard during their wildly successful inaugural season, sweeping a home-and-home set within the first week and beating their new Pacific Division rival four times in their first 26 games. When the teams meet for the first time this season on Wednesday in Arizona, Vegas is looking up in the standings at the Coyotes.

The Golden Knights have not won back-to-back games in a month and part of their struggles is a dismal 4-9-0 road record. "Any team can win a game in this league," forward Reilly Smith said after Vegas answered a 6-3 win at Edmonton by getting mauled in Calgary 7-2. "If you're going back and forth like we are right now, we're just playing like a bad team." Arizona has lost five of seven (2-4-1) after splitting the first two contests of its five-game homestand against Nashville and Boston. The Coyotes have managed 14 goals during the last seven games and have been limited to two or fewer five times in that span.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, TVAS, AT&T Sportsnet-Rocky Mountain (Vegas), FS Arizona Plus

ABOUT THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS (9-12-1): While forward Jonathan Marchessault became the only Vegas player to reach 10 goals over the weekend, the hope is that Max Pacioretty is snapping out of his offensive slumber after scoring in back-to-back games in Alberta. Pacioretty, who turned 30 on Tuesday, was a five-time 30-goal scorer with the Montreal Canadiens but has just four tallies in his first season with Vegas. Marc-Andre Fleury, who has gone 11 straight starts without consecutive wins, went 2-1-0 with a 1.99 goals-against average versus the Coyotes last season.

ABOUT THE COYOTES (9-9-1): Brad Richardson scored a combined eight goals over the previous two seasons but notched his team-leading sixth in Saturday's 2-1 setback to the Bruins. Richardson has scored four times in nine games to overtake teammate Clayton Keller, who has failed to tally in that same span and remains stuck on five goals. "I think he's done some really nice stuff this year," coach Rick Tocchet said of Keller, a 23-goal scorer last season. "Teams are going to pay attention to him so he's going to have to change his game. I've talked to him about certain things."

OVERTIME

1. Coyotes D Alex Goligoski (lower body) and Jakob Chychrun (upper body) are game-time decisions for Wednesday.

2. Marchessault had two goals and six points in five meetings versus the Coyotes in 2017-18.

3. Arizona sent D Robbie Russo to Tucson of the American Hockey League.

PREDICTION: Golden Knights 4, Coyotes 2

Winnipeg Jets vs. Calgary Flames Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NHL Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Winnipeg Jets travel to Calgary on Wednesday to face the Flames in a matchup of two teams that displayed plenty of offensive firepower in victories Monday. Johnny Gaudreau recorded four points in the first period and Matthew Tkachuk scored twice as Calgary recorded the first seven goals in a 7-2 rout of Vegas, while Winnipeg's Patrik Laine netted his sixth career hat trick as the Jets fired 49 shots on goal to down Vancouver 6-3.

The Flames are 7-3-0 in their past 10 games and entered Tuesday tied with San Jose for first place in the Pacific Division with 25 points, as Gaudreau finished with a goal and three assists. "There's not a whole bunch of them that have the ability to slow the game down and buy time for guys to get open, and he's got it," Calgary coach Bill Peters told reporters after Monday's game in describing Gaudreau, who is tied for ninth in the NHL with 17 assists through Monday. Winnipeg started a four-game road trip Monday with its fourth victory in the past five games and Laine - who had just one even-strength goal on the season coming into the contest - scored twice in 5-on-5 situations and added an empty-net goal. "If you stay patient and work hard you're going to get rewarded," Laine told the media afterward. "I got rewarded tonight."

TV: 10 p.m. ET, Sportsnet

ABOUT THE JETS (12-5-2): Laine's three goals give him 11 on the season, sharing the team lead with center Mark Scheifele, who netted his 11th in the first period. Forward Kyle Connor scored his 10th goal, extending his goal-scoring streak to three games, and added three assists to give him 15 points (six goals) in his past 12 games. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 22 saves for his ninth win of the season, tying him for second in the NHL.

ABOUT THE FLAMES (12-8-1): Gaudreau had just one assist in his previous five games, but tied a franchise record with his four-point period to raise his season total to 24 points in 21 games. Goaltender David Rittich stopped 20-of-22 shots to improve to 7-1-0 on the season Monday, and ranks second in goals against average (1.93) and fourth in save percentage (.931). Center Sean Monahan scored his team-leading 12th goal Monday, while Tkachuk's two tallies give him 11 on the season.

OVERTIME

1. Winnipeg F Kristian Vesalainen was reassigned to Manitoba of the AHL on Tuesday.

2. Calgary F James Neal remains stuck at 499 career points after his seventh consecutive pointless game Monday.

3. The Jets have the top power-play unit in the NHL (32.1 percent), while the Flames are 24th in penalty kill (75.8).

PREDICTION: Flames 5, Jets 4

Colorado Avalanche vs. Los Angeles Kings Preview and Predictions 11-21-2018

NHL Predictions 20th November 2018 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 11/20/2018

The Los Angeles Kings haven't had much reason to smile this season, but a shutout by a rookie goaltender to complete a 2-0-1 road trip is as good a reason as any for the cellar-dwelling club. The Kings hope Cal Petersen continues his success on Wednesday when they open a three-game homestand against the high-powered Colorado Avalanche, who are averaging an NHL third-best 3.55 goals per contest.

"He played well all the way through the trip. We're in a bit of a tough spot, so we really needed him to play well, and he played well," Los Angeles coach Willie Desjardins said of Petersen, who made 29 saves in Monday's 2-0 win over St. Louis. The 24-year-old Petersen has turned aside 116 of 122 shots in parts of four games while filling in for fellow netminders Jonathan Quick and Jack Campbell, who are sidelined with meniscus tears. Petersen likely will be tested by a Colorado club that features a top line consisting of Mikko Rantanen (NHL-best 32 points), Nathan MacKinnon (team co-leading 13 goals) and captain Gabriel Landeskog (13 goals, league high-tying plus-13 rating). Rantanen capped a three-point performance on Sunday by scoring a power-play goal with 1.3 seconds remaining in overtime as the Avalanche improved to 3-0-1 in their last four games with a 4-3 win at Anaheim.

TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, Altitude (Colorado), FS West (Los Angeles)

ABOUT THE AVALANCHE (10-6-4): Rantanan also set up a pair of goals on Sunday to boost his point total to eight (three goals, five assists) in his last four games while MacKinnon notched his fifth three-point performance of the season to give him 11 points (five goals, six assists) in his past seven. "You just had the feeling that with some of the chances that they were able to create, that they would be difference makers," Bednar said of the celebrated top line. Tyson Barrie set up MacKinnon's second-period goal versus the Ducks, pushing his point streak to five games (one goal, five assists) while giving him 203 career assists -- four shy of John-Michael Liles' franchise record for a defenseman.

ABOUT THE KINGS (7-12-1): Petersen's first career shutout came on the same night that fellow rookie Matt Luff secured a milestone of his own. Playing in his sixth game since being recalled from Ontario of the American Hockey League, the 21-year-old Luff converted a sweet saucer pass from Adrian Kempe and lifted a shot past Jake Allen for his first NHL goal with just over eight minutes remaining in the second period. "I just kind of blacked out and shot my shot and it went in," Luff said.

OVERTIME

1. Colorado G Philipp Grubauer has recorded at least one point in six consecutive outings (4-0-2).

2. The Kings won all three encounters against the Avalanche last season.

3. Colorado C Alexander Kerfoot will play in his 100th game on Wednesday.

PREDICTION: Avalanche 5, Kings 1

# 5 PETE'S PLAY CALL 3/1

# 2 KILLYBEGS CAPTAIN 8/1

# 1 AJNADEEN 5/2

I have to support PETE'S PLAY CALL here. Has been travelling solidly and has among the top speed in the race for today's distance. The Equibase Speed Figure of 105 from his last contest looks competitive in here. Shows solid Equibase Speed Figures on average overall when compared with the rest of this group. KILLYBEGS CAPTAIN - Ran a strong last race. Very strong choice to take this race going in a dirt sprint. AJNADEEN - Has been running soundly lately and should be up near the front end early on. Very good jockey and trainer combo winning 25 percent of their races working together.

#5 WHY NOT ANNIE (ML=5/1)
#8 ROCKSTAR PRINCESS (ML=4/1)
#1 WIND AND STORM (ML=15/1)

WHY NOT ANNIE - A thoroughbred coming back this quickly after a strong effort is a good sign. This filly garnered a strong fig of 57 in her last race. That speed rating should be strong enough to prove victorious this time out. 36-42-57 are last three speed ratings. Improving each time out is something she should do again right here. ROCKSTAR PRINCESS - This filly is in excellent form right now. Finished third in the last race and comes back promptly. The improved speed ratings over the last three races is great. Bourne drops her in this race fit and ready to go. WIND AND STORM - Possibly a peak effort for this filly today. Been getting closer with each recent start. Rode this horse on Nov 9th and Batista is right back in the irons in this race.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 GORGEOUS ROAD (ML=7/5), #6 STERLING FURIOSA (ML=9/2), #4 I KNOW NOTHING (ML=8/1),

GORGEOUS ROAD - Don't think this questionable contender has what it takes to cross the finish line in first this time out. STERLING FURIOSA - The fourth place finish in the last affair was not the best. I KNOW NOTHING - Doesn't seem to have enough positive aspects to support the price.

My selection for this race is NOT ABOUT THE NAIL especially at a long price. Has the appearance of a profitable bet. Has garnered strong speed figures in dirt route races in the past. Shows solid Equibase Speed Figures on average overall when matched with the rest of this field. SAIGON TIMES - Looks very strong to be close to the lead at the first call. Has to be carefully examined - I like the numbers from the last outing. BEACH PRINCESS - Vaunts formidable speed figures on average overall when put alongside the rest of this group. Could best this group based on the speed rating - 71 - of her last race.

#9 COOL CATOMINE (ML=7/2)
#8 GET MY GIST (ML=8/1)

CONQUEST ELIMINATR - This horse has the speed, and no one may be able to keep up with him. Looking at today's Equibase class figure, this pony is up against an easier field than in the last race at Woodbine. COOL CATOMINE - Dasilva comes to saddle up after getting to know the gelding in the last race. This jockey and handler have a fantastic winning percent when they partner up. Taking a trip to a lower class rank; has the capability to make his presence felt. This thoroughbred isn't the morning line favorite, but finished ahead of today's M/L favorite in his last race (October 19th at Woodbine). GET MY GIST - Nice return on investment for this jockey and conditioner twosome. Last raced at Woodbine carrying 5 pounds more. The lower impost in this race should serve him well.

BEALESTREET DANCER - Not probable that the speed rating he notched on October 31st will be enough in this race. CRY BAO - Don't feel this racer will make an impact today. That last speed figure was mediocre when compared with today's class rating.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:

Game of the Night: Thunder at Warriors – 10:35 PM EST

The defending champion Warriors (12-6 SU, 8-10 ATS) are coming off a road trip to forget in Texas by dropping all three games. Golden State was wiped out at Houston in a Western Conference Finals rematch, followed by a close defeat at Dallas last Saturday. The Warriors fell behind the Spurs on Sunday and could never get over the hump in a 104-92 setback as three-point underdogs to slip to 0-5 ATS the past five contests.

Golden State continues to play without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, as the Warriors welcome in the Thunder. Oklahoma City (10-6 SU, 10-6 ATS) finishes off a three-game road swing following a 10-point victory at Phoenix and a four-point defeat at Sacramento. In Monday’s setback to the Kings, Russell Westbrook returned to the Thunder lineup after missing six games with an ankle injury and scored 29 points, but OKC lost for only the second time in the last 12 contests.

The Warriors held off the Thunder on opening night at Oracle Arena, 108-100 as 12 ½-point favorites, even though Westbrook did not suit up for Oklahoma City. Golden State opened up as a one-point favorite for tonight’s contest, as the Warriors own an 0-5 ATS mark as a favorite of six points or fewer this season.

He’s Coming Home

On Sunday evening, LeBron James returned to Miami where he helped the Heat win two championships. In his first visit in a Lakers’ (9-7 SU, 6-10 ATS) uniform, James torched the Heat for 51 points in a 113-97 triumph for Los Angeles’ fifth win in six tries. Now, James makes his triumphant return to Cleveland for the first time since leaving the Cavaliers for Lakers in free agency in July.

Yes, it is obvious that Cleveland (2-13 SU, 7-8 ATS) was going to be worse without James, but this bad? Kevin Love has been sidelined since late October with a foot injury, while the only two victories for Cleveland have come against Atlanta and Charlotte at home. The Cavaliers had cashed the UNDER in seven straight games prior to Monday’s 113-102 defeat at Detroit on a 213 ½ total as Cleveland fell to 4-3 ATS as a ‘dog of eight points or more.

The last time James made his first appearance at Quicken Loans Arena in another uniform came in 2010 with the Heat. James scored 38 points to lead Miami to a 118-90 rout of Cleveland on that December night. The Lakers have failed to cash in two opportunities as a favorite of seven points or more this season as Los Angeles opened as a nine-point favorite this evening.

Keep on Buckin’

Milwaukee (12-4 SU, 10-5-1 ATS) is one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference so far, but the Bucks have needed several rallies at home of late. The Bucks wiped out a 20-point deficit to rout the Bulls last Friday, while erasing a 10-point halftime hole against a solid Denver squad in Monday’s 104-98 victory to pull off the season sweep of the Nuggets. Giannis Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee with 29 points and 12 rebounds in spite of missing all six of his three-point attempts. The Bucks improved to 8-1 at their new home, the Fiserv Forum, while covering in seven of those wins.

It’s revenge mode for the Bucks, who were steamrolled at Portland (12-5 SU, 11-6 ATS) on November 6 in a 118-103 road setback. The victory by the Blazers ended a four-game skid to the Bucks dating back to 2016 as Portland looks to hand Milwaukee its second home defeat of the season. The Blazers are playing with no rest after edging the Knicks on Tuesday, 118-114 for their second straight win following a pair of losses to kick off their road trip. Portland owns a perfect 2-0 SU/ATS record on the second of a back-to-back, which includes blowout victories over Houston and Minnesota.

Perfect Ten?

The 76ers (12-7 SU, 8-11 ATS) are the only team remaining in the NBA that has yet to suffer a home defeat. Philadelphia has won all nine games played at Wells Fargo Center, coming off a 119-114 close-shave victory over Phoenix as 11 ½-point favorites on Monday. The 76ers have hit the OVER in each of their last three games, while the team has compiled a 3-1 mark since Jimmy Butler has been in the lineup following his trade from Minnesota.

Philadelphia welcomes in New Orleans as the Pelicans (10-7 SU, 8-9 ATS) look to improve on a 2-6 mark away from Smoothie King Center. The Pelicans start a seven-game stretch against Eastern Conference opponents, including the next three on the road. New Orleans’ roller-coaster season continues as the Pelicans are riding a 6-1 hot streak after losing six straight earlier this month. The Pelicans registered the OVER in all three home victories on their recent homestand, including in a 140-126 comeback triumph against the Spurs on Monday.

Target Practice

The Wolves (7-10 SU, 8-9 ATS) suffered only their second home loss in nine tries at Target Center in Sunday’s 100-87 setback to the Grizzlies. The defeat ended a three-game winning streak, as Minnesota was limited to 39% shooting from the floor and its lowest scoring output at home this season. The Wolves continued their impressive UNDER streak, which moved to 8-1 the last nine games, including three straight at Target Center.

The Nuggets (10-7 SU, 8-9 ATS) invade Minneapolis tonight trying to get on track after losing six of their past seven contests. Denver has dropped three consecutive games away from Pepsi Center, while being listed as an underdog for only the second time this season. Last season, the Nuggets lost three of four matchups with the Wolves, including a pair of overtime defeats at Target Center.

Southwest Showdown

The Grizzlies (11-5 SU, 11-5 ATS) continue their impressive start as they bring a four-game winning streak into San Antonio. Memphis pulled away from Dallas on Monday, 98-88 to improve to 7-1 at FedEx Forum this season, while winning for the sixth time in the past seven games overall. Mike Conley paced the Grizzlies with 28 points, while Marc Gasol posted a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds for Memphis.

The Spurs (8-8 SU, 8-8 ATS) have struggled to find their footing this season as San Antonio has lost six of its past eight games. San Antonio has performed better at home by owning a 6-2 mark, including recent victories over Golden State and Houston. The Spurs are seeing their lowest total of the season (200 ½), while allowing 95 points or less in three of their past four contests at AT&T Center. San Antonio swept the four-game series from Memphis last season, while winning each of the past six meetings with its division rival.

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NHL Game #5 Wednesday Montreal Canadiens Money Line (+) @ New Jersey Devils @ 7 ET - The Canadiens are fired up and can't wait to take the ice after blowing a 2-goal lead and only earning 1 point in regulation in an eventual 5-4 loss to the Capitals on Monday. Montreal entered that game having won 3 of their last 4 games overall. Also, the Habs enter this game having won 4 of their last 6 road games. The Devils, on the other hand, have lost 8 of their last 11 games and yet New Jersey is a popular choice of the betting markets early Wednesday morning. Particularly after the line move we've seen, there is a lot of value with the Canadiens as a sizable road dog here. Montreal has won 6 of their 9 games this season when off a game in which they have scored 4 or more goals. New Jersey has lost 25 of 39 when off a game in which they were held to 1 goal or less. The Toronto Maple Leafs are an elite team and teams should fear them. They got 4 lines rolling and their goaltending has been fantastic. Despite the Hurricanes hot start to the season, the Leafs are still in a great position to win this game. The Canes get a ton of shots on net, but don't necessarily defend well. As the Leafs are playing great defense and always a threat to score 5+ goals, they're a great play Wednesday night.

1* on New York Knicks +14
The Key: The Celtics just aren’t good enough to be laying 14 points to the Knicks tonight. There’s turmoil in the locker room, and they just can’t be trusted to be laying this kind of number. The Celtics are 3-6 SU & 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Knicks have lost 6 straight as well, but they have been competitive this season, and they are certainly capable of staying within 14 points of the Celtics tonight. They only lost 101-103 to Boston as 9.5-point home dogs in their first meeting this season on October 20th. Take New York.

Take the Boston Celtics minus the points versus the New York Knicks. New York (4-14) has lost six straight games with their 118-114 loss to to Portland as a 7.5-point underdog last night. The Knicks have then failed to cover the point spread in 5 of their last 7 games played without a day of rest. New York is also just 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 road games against teams with a winning percentage over 60% on their home court. Boston (9-8) has covered the point spread in 20 of their last 26 games at home. The Celtics have also covered the point spread in 7 of their last 10 games against fellow Atlantic Division opponents. Lay the points with Boston. Best of luck — Frank.

In his return to Cleveland, you know Lebron is going to want to have a big game. When he was with the Heat, he was 12-1 against the Cavs. The last time that he was a visitor in this arena, he scored 43. On Sunday, when facing his 'other' former team, he dropped 51 on the Heat. While they likely don't have the firepower to do so, the Cavs are going to do everything they can to spoil his homecoming. They'll do their best to trade offensive punches. With Laker games averaging 232 points on the season, this total could easily be a bit higher. Consider the Over.

NBA | Blazers vs Bucks
Play on: Bucks -6 -102 at 5Dimes

It may surprise you to know that Milwaukee has the second-best record in the NBA so far. The Bucks have built up this mark in large part because of an 8-1 home mark, 7-1-1 ATS. The Bucks have won every one of their home games except one by 11 or more points. The Bucks have matched up well to the Trail Blazers in recent seasons going 11-3-1 ATS versus them. One of the losses, however, occurred on Nov. 6 in Portland. The Trail Blazers buried the Bucks, 118-103. The Bucks' other three losses have been by an average of three points. That embarrassement to Portland remains fresh in the minds of the Bucks coming just two weeks ago. The spot sets up well for Milwaukee. The Bucks catch the Trail Blazers playing their fourth road game in six days and second in two nights. Portland was taxed by the Knicks last night, winning 118-114, with four of its players logging more than 30 minutes. The Trail Blazers rely heavily on their outstanding backcourt tandem of CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard. McCollum played more than 38 minutes against the Knicks, while Lillard saw more than 36 minutes of action. Portland is out of the gate fast, too, at 12-5. The Trail Blazers have been fortunate with their early-season schedule, though. They beat the Rockets when Houston didn't have James Harden. They also have played a combined seven games versus the Lakers, Timbewolves and Wizards. Those three teams have all been struggling to find their identity.

My free play is on the Den Nuggets at 8:05 ET.
The Denver Nuggets jumped out to a 9-1 start in the 2018-19 season but have seen that hot start 'cool off' rapidly. The Nuggets are 0-2 on their current three-game road trip (let a 17-point, first-half lead get away in Monday's 104-98 loss in Milwaukee) and 'limp' into Minnesota having lost SIX of their last seven. Minnesota is hoping to rebound from Sunday's 100-87 home loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, when it committed 20 turnover. However, it was the team's first loss in four games since trading disgruntled Jimmy Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Brooklyn Nets are in a difficult spot here tonight against the Dallas Mavericks. They’ll be playing for a second consecutive night after winning in Miami last night. And they’ll be playing their 8th game in 13 days as well. The Mavericks had yesterday off and are 4-1 SU & 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. They are playing their best ball of the season right now and should be able to take care of this fatigued Brooklyn team. Dallas is 17-5 ATS off a loss by 10 points or more over the last two seasons. The Nets are 0-5 ATS in their last five games playing on zero rest. The Mavericks are 26-9 ATS in their last 35 games following an ATS loss. Dallas is 4-0 ATS in its last four home games. #NBA FREE PICK FROM MIKE LUNDIN
The Memphis Grizzlies are 11-5 SU and ATS on the season and will enter AT&T Center on a four-game win streak which includes triumphs at Milwaukee and Minnesota.
They'll take on a slumping Spurs team which has lost four of its last five and gave up 140 points and allowed the Pelicans to shoot 57.8 percent from the floor in a loss at New Orleans Monday night.
Memphis is not a high-scoring team but owns the best scoring defense in the league, and it's defense alone should keep the visitors in this game.

10* FREE NCAAB PICK (Xavier +1.5)
I'll take my chances here with with The Musketeers salvaging a win in the final game at the Maui Invitational. Xavier lost to Auburn in OT 88-79 to get the tournament started and then lost a heartbreaker to San Diego State 79-74. The Musketeers are sitting at 2-3, but their other defeat was against a very good Wisconsin team and they were in that one as well. Xavier needs this game and I just think they will be able to impose their will against a young and inexperienced Illinois team that is really struggling to find their shot in Maui. Illini shot 38.6% from the field against Gonzaga and 38.3% last night against Iowa State. Give me the Musketeers +1.5!

NBA | Kings vs Jazz
Play on: UNDER 222 -105

Jack’s Free Pick Wednesday: Kings/Jazz UNDER 222
Let’s start out by looking at this total from a value perspective. The Kings and Jazz have squared off once this season back on October 17th. That total was set at 205.5. Now in the rematch it has been set at 222, nearly 17 points more than the total in the first meeting. There’s value with the UNDER here.
The recent series history also shows there is value with the UNDER. The Kings and Jazz have combined for 220 or fewer points at the end of regulation in 14 of their last 16 meetings. They have combined for 207 or fewer points in 13 of those 16 meetings as well.
The Kings are 25-9 to the UNDER after allowing 105 or more points in three straight games over the past three seasons. Sacramento is 43-22 to the UNDER in its last 65 games when the total is 220 to 229.5. Bet the UNDER in this game Wednesday.

NBA | Kings vs Jazz
Play on: OVER 218 -110

1* Free Pick on Kings/Jazz OVER
These two teams opened the season against each other and combined for 240 points in a 123-117 win for Utah at Sacramento. I think we are going to see a similar high-scoring affair in the rematch tonight.
The Kings have really taken to the new up-tempo style of play installed by head coach Dave Joerger. They rank 2nd in the NBA in pace of play and are top half of the league in offensive efficiency. They are scoring 113.9 ppg on the season, but have put up 119.2 ppg on the road and will be facing a Utah team that is giving up 111.2 ppg at home.
The key here is that for as good as the Kings are offensively, they are equally as bad defensively. Sacramento is giving up 116.1 ppg overall and a ridiculous 123.3 ppg on the road. Utah's offense has struggled of late, but all of that was during a 5-game road trip. They are scoring nearly 110 ppg at home and should easily hit that.
OVER is 4-0 in the Kings last 4 road games and 4-0 in Utah's last 4 home games. Take the OVER!
