It doesn't have quite the same juice as it used to when LeBron James was around, but it's still special when the participants in the last four NBA Finals get together in the regular season. The Cleveland Cavaliers will try to get some revenge when they host the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.

The Warriors beat the Cavaliers in three of the last four NBA Finals, including the last two, but Cleveland is no longer among the elite teams in the Eastern Conference since the departure of James. The Cavaliers are fighting to stay out of the basement in the East and lifted themselves to 5-18 with a 99-97 triumph over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. Golden State is not on top of the West at the moment but remains a Finals favorite and finally looked like the team that won those titles while it rolled the Atlanta Hawks 128-111 on Monday. "We have a great offense where we emphasize ball movement, body movement, making the right play and trying to find a great shot every time down," Warriors forward Kevin Durant told reporters after the victory. "Tonight, we saw something working in our movement game."

ABOUT THE WARRIORS (16-9): Superstar guard Stephen Curry was playing his second game back after missing 11 with a groin injury on Monday and managed to shake off the last of the rust while exploding for 18 points in the first quarter en route to 30 on 10-of-17 shooting. "I think with Steph, our offense is so free-flowing," Durant told reporters. "And if it's Steph getting 18 points in the first quarter or Klay (Thompson) or myself, it starts off with passing the basketball. So, I think, obviously, Steph scored the points, but we all had a hand in setting screens, throwing the ball to him, getting out of the way so he could be aggressive. He's just all otherworldly when he makes those types of shots and definitely got us going tonight." Durant finished with 28 points on 10-of-13 shooting and eight assists in the win.



ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (5-18): Cleveland is still working on its roster in the post-James era and brought in guard Alec Burks from the Utah Jazz last week in the deal that sent Kyle Korver out of town. Burks finished with 13 points on Monday and punctuated the effort with a go-ahead dunk in the final seconds. "He attacks the basket," Cavaliers coach Larry Drew told reporters of Burks. "Because he's so athletic, he can maneuver to the basket and get a shot off. The one thing I was trying to do, I wanted to be aggressive on the last play of the game. If the same shot hadn't gone in, just wanted to take them to overtime. We were going to get the last shot. He just made a really good move with the basketball."

The Denver Nuggets will try to avoid a letdown following perhaps their best win of the season when they continue a five-game road trip at the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. Even after losing leading scorer Gary Harris (hip) in the first half, the Nuggets held on to top NBA-leading Toronto by a 106-103 margin Monday night.

Nikola Jokic notched his second triple-double of the season with 23 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds as Denver won its season-high sixth in a row and its fourth straight away from home. "To beat the No. 1 team in the East means a lot to us," Jokic told reporters after his team remained in a tie atop the Western Conference with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Magic will be returning home after finishing a six-game road trip with back-to-back wins, including Tuesday's 105-90 triumph at Miami. Aaron Gordon led six players in double figures with 20 points while making all three of his 3-point tries, part of Orlando's 14-for-28 effort from beyond the arc against the Heat.

ABOUT THE NUGGETS (16-7): Jokic shot 8-of-13 from the floor Monday night while reaching double figures in rebounds and assists in the same game for the third time during the six-game winning streak, including in the 112-87 win over Orlando on Nov. 23. "He does everything," guard Jamal Murray told reporters of Jokic. "He passes, rebounds, handles the ball. There's nothing he really can't do, except jump." Murray chipped in 21 points and Malik Beasley added 15 off the bench while making all three of his 3-point attempts.



ABOUT THE MAGIC (12-12): Gordon is averaging 19 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 53.6 percent in two games since missing a loss at Portland due to a back issue. Nikola Vucevic finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds in Tuesday's win for his 10th double-double in the last 13 games, and the star center has made at least 50 percent of his shots in 10 consecutive contests. Reserve swingman Terrence Ross also had 19 points versus Miami and averaged 18.7 on the road trip, including a 7-for-8 shooting effort at Denver.

The Washington Wizards kicked off a four-game road swing with a victory Monday at New York and look to continue banking wins against struggling teams when they play at the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. The Wizards, who began the trip just 2-9 away from home, played one of their best quarters of the season to take control against the Knicks, hitting 15-of-25 shots from the field in the third quarter (4-of-9 from 3-point range) en route to a 110-107 victory.

"We pushed the pace and made open shots," Wizards guard John Wall told the media after Washington beat the Knicks, one of six Eastern Conference teams with a worse record than Washington. The Wizards play teams below them in the standings in the first three games of the trip, which continues against an Atlanta team tied for the conference's worst record. The Hawks fell 128-111 to defending champion Golden State on Monday, committing 18 turnovers - nine in the opening quarter - and shooting 5-of-26 from 3-point range. "I thought we played well, then you take the turnovers into the equation and you figure you're going to have a long night," Atlanta coach Lloyd Pierce told reporters afterward.

The Timberwolves will try to pull over .500 for the first time this season and finish up a winning four-game homestand when they host the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.

Minnesota fell off on the defensive end during a 118-109 loss to the Boston Celtics on Saturday but found its form on that end while holding the Rockets to 29 points in the second half - nine in the fourth quarter - in Monday's win. "We came in here and made it clear we had to change things," center Karl-Anthony Towns told reporters of the message at halftime. "We came out with an edge, a fire to us, to get back in the game. One thing I'm proud of is not only did we come in here and talk about it, we came out and did it." Picking up some of the slack is power forward Frank Kaminsky, who followed up a scoreless effort in Friday's loss to Utah with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting on Sunday. The Pelicans committed a season-low seven turnovers in Monday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers and still suffered a 129-126 loss. "You learn something from every game," New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry told reporters. "The one thing I did appreciate is, the guys came out in the second half and we competed. We competed like crazy, and whenever they tried to knock us out of the box, we just hung in and came back and did a really good job." Dallas has been one of the NBA's biggest surprises, and Tuesday's 111-102 victory over Portland was its 10th triumph in 13 games. The Mavericks have struggled on the road, however, winning only two of their 10 contests.

ABOUT THE PELICANS (12-13): Julius Randle was unstoppable against the Clippers as he registered a career-best 37 points on 15-of-24 shooting, but he fouled out of the game with 4:04 remaining and New Orleans was outscored 14-7 the rest of the way. The Grizzlies were off to a strong 12-5 start before the recent funk but point guard Mike Conley insists there is no need to be troubled. "We're not in panic mode at all," Conley said after Sunday's 103-95 road loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. "We've built ourselves a good little cushion to have a little spell like this. Hopefully, we'll just get back home, get back to work, get a few days in and get back together." The Clippers are flying high with 12 wins in their past 15 games and they posted a 129-126 road triumph over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday to retain a share of the Western Conference lead with the Denver Nuggets. "We've had a bunch of close games," backup guard Lou Williams told reporters after the win. "If you're going to compete in the Western Conference - there's a lot of talented teams - you're going to have to be able to (win those)."

The 27-point defeat on Monday was Detroit's lone loss on the homestand and only its third in 12 games but it left power forward Blake Griffin with a dejected feeling. "We didn't come out with any urgency, and that's entirely on us," Griffin told reporters. "No coach can go out there and make us play hard. We need to take a hard look at this game and learn from what we did out there." Milwaukee suffered a 136-134 overtime defeat against the host New York Knicks on Saturday and lost three of its last five games. "It's frustrating and disappointing because I feel like that one's definitely on us," Bucks center Brook Lopez told reporters. "We feel like that's one we should have had and we kind of gave away. No discredit to them or anything like that, but it's a tough one for us."

Toronto owns the best record in the NBA and forced 20 turnovers against the Nuggets but could not defend without fouling down the stretch as Denver center Nikola Jokic hit three free throws in the final seven seconds to provide the margin. "Early in the game, they did everything, they wanted to win more than we did," Raptors forward Pascal Siakam told reporters. "We didn't bring the energy that we usually have, we let them get on the run and then we had to fight back." The 76ers rolled through a perfect three-game homestand, capped by a 103-95 win over Memphis on Sunday, but are 4-7 on the road as they get set for a tough two-game trip that includes a visit to Detroit on Friday. "I know when we're playing well and when we're not," Philadelphia coach Brett Brown told reporters. "It's always the performance, and the spirit of the time that I most pay attention to."

(McConnell) have the ball and make passes out of the elbow and do stuff," Brown told reporters of Simmons. "Like all of those things stood out. He's moving in a really clear, positive direction." Both losses to San Antonio came during a 2-5 start for the Lakers, who have since put things together by capturing 12 of their last 16 games. Los Angeles has won its last three contests by an average of 14.3 points, and Monday's 120-96 rout of Phoenix marked its largest margin of victory this season. The Spurs have lost three of their last four games, with all of the defeats coming by more than 30 points - including Tuesday's 139-105 setback at Utah. ABOUT THE LAKERS (14-9): LeBron James is averaging just 34.7 minutes - the lowest mark of his 16-year career - and visibly has displayed frustration at times when coach Luke Walton removes him from a contest. A change behind the bench has led to improved play for the Oilers, but St. Louis is still looking for consistency since dismissing Mike Yeo two weeks ago.

Edmonton has a reason to put an asterisk next to Monday's 4-1 loss at Dallas as captain Connor McDavid and forward Ryan Spooner sat out the game due to illness. Both players are expected back in the lineup Wednesday for the Oilers, who had surrendered a total of three goals while winning their previous three games. The Blues followed an impressive 3-2 road win in Colorado on Friday by getting flattened in Arizona 24 hours later and also lost four players to injury in the two games. "Obviously key players being out, but at the same time, we're not using this as an excuse," St. Louis center Brayden Schenn said. "It's an opportunity for myself and other guys to step up and try and win hockey games."

ABOUT THE OILERS (13-12-2): McDavid had appeared in 222 consecutive games but he was back at practice Tuesday and said he felt much better after sitting out against Dallas. "I've been feeling good in practice, working on a few things every day and just trying to work out those bugs to be ready for a game whenever I get it," Talbot said.



ABOUT THE BLUES (9-13-3): Captain Alex Pietrangelo was among three players placed on injured reserve Monday due to an upper-body injury that will keep him out at least until Christmas and likely will require surgery, according to general manager Doug Armstrong. "He brings a lot to us," fellow blue-liner Colton Parayko said. "He'll play all situations on the ice. Obviously our leader back there." "We've got to put the game away on one of those power plays," Brind'Amour said on the heels of Friday's 2-1 overtime loss to visiting Anaheim as well as the setback to Los Angeles two nights later. Petr Mrazek deserved a better fate against the Kings after turning aside 33 shots in his return from a month-long absence due to a lower-body injury, although he made 20 saves in a 4-3 shootout win over San Jose on Oct. 26.

Anaheim closed out its road trip with a 6-5 win at Washington, becoming the first team in league history to beat the defending Stanley Cup champion after facing a four-goal deficit. "They're in the moment now, and it's our job to keep them in that moment," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said after his team was the first to erase a four-goal deficit on the road and win in regulation since March 3, 1999. The Blackhawks fired coach Joel Quenneville on Nov. 6 in the midst of an eight-game skid but they continue to struggle under replacement Jeremy Colliton. Chicago has dropped four in a row to fall to 3-8-2 under Colliton and has lost 15 of 18 (3-12-3) since a 6-2-2 start to the season.

One of the best aspects of betting college basketball this time of the year is all the regional rivalries on the schedule between teams that reside in different conferences. This first one on Wednesday’s betting board is a Philadelphia Big 5 showdown between the AAC’s Temple Owls and the Big East’s Villanova Wildcats.

The UNC Wilmington Seahawks, out of the Colonial Athletic Association will step way up in class to take on the ACC’s North Carolina in this in-state tilt in the first game of an ESPN2 doubleheader. Game of the Night: 76ers at Raptors – 8:05 PM EST

The top two teams in the Atlantic division hook up in Toronto as the Raptors (20-5 SU, 12-13 ATS) had their eight-game winning streak halted by the Nuggets on Monday. Denver edged Toronto, 106-103 as seven-point underdogs, while the Raptors’ rally from a 13-point halftime deficit fell short. Kawhi Leonard led the Raptors with 27 points, but Toronto misfired on 30 three-point attempts, including a 2-of-13 effort by Leonard and Kyle Lowry from downtown.

The 76ers (17-8 SU, 11-14 ATS) have won 13 of 14 games at Wells Fargo Center, but the team has slipped to 4-7 on the highway. Philadelphia finished off a perfect 3-0 homestand on Sunday with a 103-95 victory over Memphis to cash as 6 ½-point favorites. The defense has yielded 98 points or less in each of the past three games, while finishing UNDER the total in all three wins. J.J. Redick and Jimmy Butler combined to score 45 points against Memphis, while Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid each recorded double-doubles.

Toronto destroyed Philadelphia in the first matchup this season at Scotiabank Arena, 129-112 as six-point favorites on October 30. The Raptors scorched the 76ers by hitting 51% of its field goal attempts, led by Leonard’s 31 points. This contest came prior to Philadelphia’s acquistion of Butler from Minnesota, as Embiid paced the 76ers with 31 points and 11 rebounds.

Finals Rematch

If LeBron James was still in Cleveland, there would be plenty of intrigue regarding tonight’s matchup between the Warriors and Cavaliers. These two teams have met in the NBA Finals in each of the past four seasons, but won’t happen again with James in Los Angeles. The Cavaliers (5-18 SU, 12-11 ATS) have expectedly taken a huge step back, but gone 3-4 the last seven games since a 2-14 start, while coming off a 99-97 victory at Brooklyn on Monday.

The Warriors (16-9 SU, 11-14 ATS) are getting healthy as Stephen Curry scored 30 points in his second game back from injury to lead Golden State to a 128-111 blowout of Atlanta as 10 ½-point road favorites. The loss snapped a six-game road losing streak for the defending champions, but the Warriors own a 5-2 mark away from Oracle Arena with Curry in the lineup, compared to an 0-5 ledger without him in away contests.

Cleveland has put together a nice run as an underdog at Quicken Loans Arena recently by covering in four of the last five opportunities. The Cavaliers have knocked off the Rockets and Hornets during this stretch, while hanging with the Lakers and Raptors in losses. Golden State captured all six matchups with Cleveland last season, while covering five times, as the Warriors were never listed a double-digit favorite at Quicken Loans Arena.

Speaking of LeBron

The Lakers (14-9 SU, 10-13 ATS) finish off their four-game homestand as they look to go 4-0 with a victory over the Spurs (11-13 SU, 11-13 ATS). Los Angeles won and covered in the first three wins over Indiana, Dallas, and Phoenix, while cashing the UNDER all three times. In Sunday’s 120-96 rout of the Suns, the Lakers erased an early 10-point deficit by blitzing Phoenix in the second quarter, 40-15, as Kyle Kuzma led L.A. with 23 points.

The Spurs travel to Staples Center with no rest after getting blasted at Utah last night, 139-105 as eight-point underdogs. San Antonio has lost three of its past four games by insane margins (39, 31, and 34), while Gregg Popovich’s squad is currently on an 8-1 run to the OVER. The Spurs have lost seven of nine times this season in the road underdog role, but one of those victories came at Staples Center against the Lakers in overtime back in late October, 143-142.

Back-to-Buck Losses?

Milwaukee (15-7 SU, 11-10-1 ATS) is the only team in the NBA that has yet to drop consecutive games this season. The Bucks fell in overtime to the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Sunday in a 136-134 thriller as eight-point favorites. Milwaukee has failed to cover five straight contests, including four of those games as a favorite of eight or more. The Bucks own a perfect 6-0 record off a defeat, but the last two wins in this situation have come by six and three points.

The Pistons (13-8 SU, 12-9 ATS) invade Fiserv Forum for the first time as Detroit is coming off a solid 5-1 homestand, although it has was trounced in the final game, 110-83 to Oklahoma City on Monday. Out of the five wins, only two came against quality opponents (Golden State and Houston), while Detroit put together a 4-2 ATS mark. The Pistons have won three of the past four games away from Little Caesars Arena, while compiling a solid 6-1 ATS ledger in their last seven road contests. However, Detroit has dropped each of its past four meetings in Milwaukee, including a pair of four-point defeats last season.

Best in the West?

We all know the Warriors are still the team to beat in the Western Conference (and the NBA). However, the Clippers (16-7 SU, 15-8 ATS) are the current leaders of the Pacific division so far as Los Angeles faces another division leader tonight in Memphis. The Clippers finish a four-game road trip after holding off the Pelicans on Monday, 129-126 as Tobias Harris and Danilo Gallinari combined to score 51 points for Los Angeles.

The Grizzlies (13-9 SU, 13-9 ATS) have stumbled of late following a solid start by losing four of the past five games after winning consecutive contests. The most recent setback came at Philadelphia on Sunday, 103-95 as 6 ½-point underdogs, as the Grizzlies should be focused for tonight’s matchup. Memphis blew a late lead at Staples Center against the Clippers on November 23 as L.A. rallied for a 112-107 overtime triumph to barely cash as 4 ½-point favorites and hit the OVER of 210. The Clippers dropped the first two meetings with the Grizzlies last season, but have won each of the past three matchups.

While the Warriors are getting healthier, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been decimated by injuries here of late. I think the Warriors should have no problem covering this 11-point spread against the hapless Cavaliers tonight on the road.
The Warriors just got Stephen Curry back. He’ll be making his third start back from injury tonight and should be fully healed now. That showed in the 128-111 win at Atlanta last time out as identical 11-point favorites. Curry scored an ultra-effiecient 30 points on just 17 shots thanks to 6-of-10 shooting from 3-point range.
Cleveland is without Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, David Nwaba and Sam Dekker. The Cavs also just traded away Kyle Korver. They are 1-4 in their last five games with three losses by 11 points or more. I just don’t see how they can be competitive against the Warriors tonight their lack of talent, plus all the players they are missing.
Golden State is a perfect 8-0 ATS in road games vs. terrible teams who are outscored by 6-plus points per game on the season over the last three seasons. The Warriors are winning by 18.9 points per game on average in this spot. Bet the Warriors Wednesday.

I know the Wizards have been a huge disappointment early, but they have been playing a lot better. Washington is both 4-2 SU and 4-2 ATS over their last 6 games and come in having won and covered two straight.
Washington's defensive numbers on the season are pretty bad, but in their last two games they have held the Nets to 37% from the field and the Knicks to 41.1%. Hawks will also be without one of their top scorers, as Taurean Prince (15 ppg) injured his ankle in their last game.
Turnovers also figure to be a huge part in the Wizards covering this spread. Atlanta ranks last in the NBA averaging 17.8 turnovers/game and Washington is one of the best at forcing mistakes at 16.2.

I'll take my chances here with Milwaukee to win here at home by double-digits against the Pistons. I'm expecting a huge effort here from the Bucks off that ugly loss at New York, where they had no one to blame but themselves after letting the Knicks shoot 53.1% from the field. Milwaukee is only allowing opponents to shoot 43.4% from the field at home. They are also 11-2 at the Fiserv Forum, outscoring opponents on average by 14.4 ppg. Pistons had been playing well, but were just annihilated at home by the Thunder 110-83. They shot just 33.0% from the field and lost a key piece to their rotation in Reggie Bullock. Milwaukee is 6-2 ATS last 8 off a SU loss and the Pistons are a mere 3-8 ATS last 11 road games vs a team with a winning home record. Give me the Bucks -8.5!

The LA Clippers rank third in the NBA with 117.7 ppg on the season and they've averaged an even better 122 ppg through their last four games. They shot 59% from the field in a 129-126 road win over the Pelicans on Monday night but also allowed their opponent to hit at a 53% clip.
Here the Clippers will run into Memphis' solid defense, but I still think we'll see this game fly over the total. The over/under is 4-2 in the Grizzlies last six games and they gave up 122 to the Raptors on Nov 27. While Clippers as a team might not be quite as good as the Raptors, their offense is not far off.
Seven of the last eight meetings have gone over the total and the posted number for this contest look very light to me.

My money is on the Gamecocks to cash in a win and cover on the road against the Cowboys. South Carolina. While South Carolina is down this year, they should have no problem beating Wyoming by double-digits. The Cowboys are just 2-6 overall and 1-3 at home (0-4 ATS at home). They have lost at home to the likes of Northern Colorado, Niagara and UC-Santa Barbara. A big reason for Wyoming's struggles is their defense, which comes in allowing 79.2 ppg. Hard to see them containing this Gamecocks offense, which is averaging 78.5 ppg on there road. Cowboys are 3-12 ATS last 15 after 2 straight games with a combined score of 155 or more and 1-7 ATS last 8 non-conference games.

That is the type of big win that can leave a team flat in their next game. That said, I would not be surprised to see the Ducks give up some goals in this one. The key to the value with the over however is that the Blackhawks can not stop anybody! Chicago has allowed 4.9 goals per game their last 7 games. In their loss to Calgary, the Blackhawks allowed "only" 3 goals. Prior to that Chicago had allowed 4 goals in 6 straight games! The 14-9 LA Lakers will take on the 11-13 San Antonio Spurs tonight at Staples Center, as the two rivals meet for the third time this season. The Spurs recorded a 143-142 overtime victory in Los Angeles back on Oct 22 and were also able to fashion a 110-106 home triumph over the Lakers five days later. However, the Spurs stumble into this contest having lost three of their last four games, with all of the defeats coming by more than 30 points, including Tuesday's 139-105 setback at Utah. Meanwhile, the Lakers have won their last three contests by an average of 14.3 PPG, with Monday's 120-96 rout of Phoenix marking the team's largest margin of victory this season.
San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich was dismayed with the latest whipping, telling reporters, "We're very challenged defensively." No kidding! San Antonio's defense was virtually nonexistent in Tuesday's loss as the team allowed the Jazz to shoot 60.7 percent and sink a franchise-record 20, three-pointers on 33 attempts. The Spurs have given up an average of 127.3 PPG over their last six contests and the effort versus Utah marked the third time they have allowed 135 or more during the stretch.
LA started 2-5 but have since put things together by capturing 12 of their last 16 games. However, the Lakers still have plenty of areas they're looking to improve. One is their turnover rate. They're averaging the fourth-most turnovers in the league (15.7), and have committed at least 15 in six of the past seven games. The Lakers are allowing an average of 111.0 PPG (17th of 30 teams) but they've given up fewer in seven of the past eight games while going 6-2.
The Lakers are 9-4 SU at home but just 6-7 ATS. However, LA has won five of its last six home games, covering all FIVE of the wins. The Spurs have beaten them twice already this season and enough is ENOUGH. Lay the points!

The set-up: The Blackhawks are a disaster, entering this one having lost four straight, most recently a 3-2 setback to Calgary. Goaltender Crawford allowed three goals on 41 shots. The Ducks are trending in the opposite direction, having won six of their last seven, most recently a thrilling 6-5 come from behind win over the Capitals.
The pick: Take it for what you will as well, but Anaheim is 5-0 in its last five home games following a road trip of seven or more days. I don’t anticipate any upsets and overall I think this is pretty good value. Consider the Ducks in this one.
