Both teams are coming off games it looked like they were going to win. The Patriots got beat by the Miami Miracle, while the Steelers were defeated by the lowly Raiders. New England has a great history of bouncing back from losses with Belichick and Brady. On the flip side, the Steelers have hosted three teams currently holding a winning record. They are 0-3 in those games, having lost 42-37 to the Chiefs in a game that wasn't anywhere near that close, 26-14 to the arch-rival Ravens, and 33-30 to the Chargers in a game in which the Steelers blew a huge lead on national TV. The Patriots have won five straight in this series, and five of the last six at Heinz Field. Losing the way they did in Miami last Sunday, I expect the Patriots to be ready to roll here. And let's not forget the kicking problems the Steelers have had, as Chris Boswell is having a very rough season. Major kicking game edge for the Patriots. Big Ben is also banged up, and having him less than 100% makes it very difficult to beat New England. Heck, a healthy Big Ben has had trouble beating Belichick's boys.

I think this game is going to be a bloodbath. Baltimore lost last week in Kansas City. But in a lot of ways they really outplayed the Chiefs, as it took a few just ridiculous plays by one of the best offenses of the decade just to send the game to overtime. The Ravens defense is capable of dominating. And their offensive approach with Lamar Jackson under center - pound the ball down opponents' throats - is exactly the type of football you want to be playing in December. The Ravens have an outstanding home field advantage. And I think the Bucs, whose season was essentially ended last week, are going to have a little bit of a letdown. Tampa Bay is another team that has played three straight home games and has gone a month in between road trips. I don't think they are ready for Baltimore. The Bucs haven't been in a hostile environment playing against fans and a team just going bonkers in a long time. And the Ravens are desperate. They are the tougher, more physical team with the better defense. They have the home field advantage. And there is nothing that the Tampa Bay offense is going to do or show the Ravens that they didn't see last week in KC. I can see Jameis Winston throwing a bunch of picks and the Ravens maxing out here. The weather is going to be colder than the Bucs are used to and that's another big home edge for the Ravens. This game reminds me a little of Tampa Bay's game at Chicago earlier in the year and they lost that one 48-10. I don't think that this game is going to be quite that bad. But I can also see this team rolling over and playing dead against a Ravens team that has everything to play for.

You know who wins nonsense games such as these? The Cincinnati Bengals. You know who loses overall in the season but just finds the right time to save their job? Marvin Lewis. Hence, here we are. The Raiders come off a big win against the Steelers, played great against the Chiefs and now they have to face a sub .500 Bengals team who have underperformed to their talent level yet again. But, you think Gruden wants to win anymore games? Heck no. Oakland and the Cardinals both have 3 wins here, the Bengals come off a great effort at the Chargers nearly winning that game outright, and they are 5-8 here coming off 5 straight losses. But, in their defense they faced the Saints, Ravens, Browns, Broncos and Chargers. 3 of those teams are playoff teams, the 4th the Broncos had a healthy Emmanuel Sanders that game and were red hot coming in beating the Chargers and Steelers and the Browns had revenge against Hugh Jackson that they were facing immediately after his firing. This is an important game for the Bengals for morale, and this team desperately needs a win and they get it here against an Oakland team that has been playing way over its head the last 2 weeks.

I know that this is a pretty good Western Kentucky team. But I just haven't seen it yet. And I can't lay this many points with them until I do.

1-Unit Play. Take #737 Miami, OH (+7) over Northern Kentucky (7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16)
Northern Kentucky has one really good player in Drew McDonald. But beyond that this isn't that good of a team. They haven't beaten anyone in the top half of college basketball ratings. Two of their eight wins are over D-II teams. And three others, including their only two Top 100 wins, have come by six points or less. The Redhawks have some guys that can do some things. They are also a much bigger team than NKU and their slow place could grind this game down. There is some reverse line movement on this spread and I will stay on the sharp side.

2-Unit Play. Take #742 West Virginia (-7) over Rhode Island (1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16)
I don't really trust West Virginia to lay the wood. However, Rhode Island is a team I want to fade this year so this play is more about betting against them. I don't know if any team in the country lost as much in the offseason. They have kind of held it together so far this season. But they are just 2-4 ATS in their last six games and they lost to the only major conference team they've played this season. They have also only played seven games so they haven't had time to be exposed. WVU has beaten better teams, like Pitt, Rider and St. Joe's, and I think that they will be focused and motivated here on a neutral site.

1-Unit Play. Take #1378 New Mexico (-11.5) over Central Arkansas (4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16)
New Mexico has dumped three straight games, albeit to good teams and tough competition. But they are going to want to snap this losing streak in a big way. This is the first really bad team they have faced in several weeks and I think that the Lobos will be able to stretch their legs a little bit.

This Anthony Grant coached team is much better than their record indicates, is a top 80 team, top 20 in 2 point field goals and after losses to Auburn by 10 points on the road which is very impressive in that atmosphere, Miss State who is a top 25 team, Oklahoma who is a top 30 team, and Virginia by single digits, they bust out with a huge win today and get back on track.

UCF might win this game by 35 points as when they face top 250 teams in general they win by 25 points, imagine what they might do to a top 325 team here. This same Stetson team lost by nearly 40 points to USC earlier this year and UCF is better offensively and defensively than USC, look for UCF to likely win big here today.
