The Chargers are that rare team that plays better on the road than at home. The reason for this is they really don't have a home-field advantage playing at sparsely populated StubHub Center in Southern California. The Chargers are 8-0, though, in games outside of Southern California. They have won in five different time zones and won't be intimidated here. The forecast for Sunday in Baltimore is sunny with temperatures in the 40s with around a 10-12 mph wind. So it's not like the Chargers are going into frigid conditions. Baltimore dominated the Chargers, 22-10, on the road just two weeks ago. Until that loss, the Chargers were in the argument for best team in the league. So maybe they needed a loss like that to sharpen them up and energize their focus. There is no secret to the Ravens. They are going to pound the ball, play for field position and rely on their excellent defense. The Chargers won't be ambushed again by the Ravens. Baltimore beat the Chargers after LA had knocked off the Chiefs the previous week on the road. So it wasn't a great spot for the Chargers. I respect the Ravens. Their defense is better than the Chargers. John Harbaugh is an above average coach, while Anthony Lynn is untested in playoff games. But I believe the Chargers are the better all-around team. Philip Rivers, Melvin Gordon and Keenan Allen give the Chargers the best skill position players. The Chargers also get back big-play tight end Hunter Henry for the first time this season. They also have change-of-pace Austin Ekeler back. He missed the first game against the Ravens. Ekeler is a key because he's good pass-catching back and can hurt the Ravens via screen passes, which would slow down the Ravens' pass rush. The Chargers know what's coming. They are going to be prepared for Baltimore's ground attack by loading up the box. Lamar Jackson is an outstanding running QB, but he's not a good downfield passer.

Inner Circle—-Baltimore - Don’t let the wind and rain bother you Baltimore bettors as the Ravens will run the ball much more than the Chargers. Philip Rivers never met a passing route he didn’t love. Baltimore recorded a 22-10 win at Los Angeles in Week 16, with the loss knocking the Chargers out of the inside track to claim the AFC West. Now they get to do it at home. A key injury looms for the Chargers running back Melvin Gordon III from a knee injury that sidelined him three games, and his availability for this game is uncertain after suffering what appeared to be a sprained right ankle late in the win over Denver. With a wet field, that ankle injury would be significant even if he does play. Gordon did not find much success against the Ravens — take away his 13-yard run, and he finished with 28 yards on 11 carries in their losing effort. Rivers had a great season but is no spring chicken and at the end of the season the wear and tear is evident. It also has history to back it up. In nine playoff games, Rivers has a 4-5 record with 11 TD passes and nine interceptions. With the cross country travel, on the road last week and his history, who could back him? Baltimore’s defense will be the difference maker. Baltimore got home on its blitzes to record a sack about once every eight plays and also had the fifth-best opponents’ passer rating (73.15). The Ravens had as many interceptions as TD passes allowed (6). They are not afraid to send five or six players on the line of scrimmage to try and fool opponents into seeing somthing that isn’t there. Lastly, the swirling wind makes a home field advantage for the field goal kicker. Look for Baltimore to continue with QB Jackson running and their defense dominating.

If the Patriots play like they did against St. Joes at home they I see the Pats winning this game by double-digits and we get back to cashing NCAAB tickets. No Limit--Chicago - It’s not a good time for QB Foles to have sore ribs. Can you imagine having Mack hit you there in cold weather? Philadelphia may have gotten into the postseason but it’s definitely an uphill climb from here. The Eagles are banged up and their secondary is extremely vulnerable, as we’ve seen all season long. Foles is going to be under duress from an aggressive Bears defense that can get pressure with or without the blitz. That spells so much trouble. The Bears will limit Trubisky to giving the ball to Jordan Howard. Howard is the team’s leading ground gainer with 250 carries for 935 yards and nine touchdowns on the year. Chicago is 12-4 ATS this season because of defense. Home field, fans and a great defense will continue to be their reasons for success. Chicago is #1 in scoring defense by allowing only 17 points a contest.

Take Washington on the Moneyline as my 6-Unit NHL Smash for Sunday. This pick falls into one of my top NHL systems and the Capitals have averaged 3.5 goals per game on the road this season. The Red Wings have one of the worst penalty-kills in the NHL at home this season with opponents converting 29.2% of their chances with the extra man against them. The Red Wings have given up an average of 4.4 goals per game over their last 5 games and now they face a hungry Capitals team that has dropped 3 straight games. We did win with the Red Wings over Nashville as a nice dog on Friday night however that was a strong situational play for me and this Red Wings team is not that good. The Capitals are 4-0 in their last 4 games when playing their 3rd game in 4 nights and they are 16-6 in their last 22 games overall. The Capitals are also 27-11 in the last 38 road games and the Red Wings are just 7-22 in their last 29 home games when playing a team that has a winning record on the road. The Oilers power-play has been on fire converting at 27.3% over their last 5 games and 21% on the road this season. This is a hungry Ducks team that has lost 7 straight games however, this is also a hungry Oilers team that has perhaps the best player in the NHL. The Ducks are just 7-19 in the last 26 games when playing with one day of rest, and I actually like the fact that Edmonton just played yesterday against the Kings since they will be ready to go tonight after that 0-4 rout. Who is going to score? A super young QB in Turbisky or a Nick Foles who is going to face the meanest defense he has faced all year and over the last 2 years? The Eagles and Foles will not sneak up on Chicago. Their run is over as this is an entirely different monster here in the Bears as they do not rely on their offense, their offense is their defense and field position. Foles has had a great run but he will run into a freight train of a team here who will get after him like tomorrow just like the Eagles will dial up a ton of pressure on Mitchell as well. The total is low for a reason as neither of these teams will likely get it done here on the offensive end as this is likely going to be a low scoring affair between these two teams this week.
