# 6 GREELEY'S WISH 3/1

# 3 SEA VOW 7/5

# 7 RECKLESS RANSOM 5/1

GREELEY'S WISH is my choice. Looks very good for the conditions of this outing today, showing solid figs in dirt sprint races lately. Schweda has him trained well to break promptly out of the gate. Put up a strong speed rating in the latest race. Can run another good one in this race. SEA VOW - This gelding has to be considered just off the earnings per start in dirt sprint events alone. With a solid 93 Equibase speed fig last time out, will clearly be a factor in this race. RECKLESS RANSOM - Formidable rider and trainer combo winning 29 percent of their races working together. With a sound 85 average speed figure at the distance, seems well suited for today's outing.

#6 OF NOTE (ML=5/2)
#7 PURE PERFECTION (ML=6/1)
#5 OUR RENEE (ML=4/1)

OF NOTE - Antongeorgi's agent must relish anytime Herbertson gives them a mount; winning percent together is terrific. Stick with this horse. No other viable pace gives this horse a strong chance at the winner's circle. This animal tops my list of choice plays. 3 solid efforts leading into this event can prove Moochie here is right. This mare's last figure is lofty enough to score here, I'll play her right back in today's event. PURE PERFECTION - Hernandez comes to saddle up after getting to know the mare in the last event. This mare is in first-rate physical condition right now. Finished second in the last race and comes back promptly. OUR RENEE - Have to make this mare a solid contender; she comes off a sharp effort on Jan 10th. When Cedillo and Wong team up on equines the win percent has been fantastic at 31. Finished fourth at Golden Gate Fields last out. Was close at the end and at odds of 4/1 in today's race, she looks like a possible contender.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 LADY BEWARE (IRE) (ML=7/2), #4 SPARKLE SHINE (ML=9/2), #1 NEON GYPSY (ML=8/1),

LADY BEWARE (IRE) - 7/2 is just not enough of a value to take on most any animal that has run poorly in back to back races. SPARKLE SHINE - The fourth place result in the last event was not the best. When examining today's Equibase class figure, she will have to earn a much better speed figure than in the last race to vie in this dirt route. NEON GYPSY - Hard to put your dough on the win end of any racer that finishes second and third as frequently as this one does. The rating last race out doesn't fit very well in this race when I look at the class figure of today's affair. Mark this racer as a questionable contender.

#5 NEGRITO (ML=5/2)
#4 POINT OF VISION (ML=10/1)

NEGRITO - This horse didn't run well on a track listed as good in his last start at Penn National. You may want to overlook that performance. Another way to determine class is earnings per race. This entrant has the top in the group. I think he'll be close at the finish. POINT OF VISION - Could be a possible overlay in this event at odds of 10/1. Finished sixth in last race at Penn National but was close at the finish. This gelding gets a weight break of -7 lbs from last race. This could make a difference in this race.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 CRAFTY CONCORDE (ML=2/1), #1 PHILIPPIAN (ML=5/2), #7 AFLEET MARTINI (ML=6/1),

CRAFTY CONCORDE - I don't normally play a probable favorite that hasn't been to the track in the last 3 weeks. PHILIPPIAN - 5/2 is not worth it for any entrant in a sprint of 5 1/2 furlongs that hasn't finished in the money in a short distance contest recently. Registered a somewhat easily forgotten speed figure in the last race in a $6,250 Claiming race on December 14th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that fig. AFLEET MARTINI - This gelding raced well above average on Dec 22nd ending up first, but hasn't even visited the track since then. Not really a good sign. When checking today's class figure, he will have to record a much better speed rating than last race out to compete in this dirt sprint.

# 3 THEA BEE 8/5

# 6 CENTRAL BANKING 4/1

# 4 VICKIE'S RANSOME 6/1

My pick for this event is THEA BEE. Looks competitive versus this group and should be one of the leaders. Could provide positive profits based on very strong recent speed figs with an average of 51. Has a very solid shot for this race if you like back class. CENTRAL BANKING - This equine enters today's contest with second time Lasix. The average Equibase class rating of 29 makes this horse tough to beat. VICKIE'S RANSOME - Formidable average Equibase Speed Figures in dirt sprint races make this equine a contender. Lately Villasana has been hot which may give the edge to this filly.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Detroit Pistons Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NBA Predictions 30th January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

Luka Doncic was unstoppable against Detroit just six days ago and looks for another strong outing when the Dallas Mavericks visit the Pistons on Thursday. Doncic had 32 points, eight rebounds and eight assists as Dallas posted a 106-101 home win over Detroit last Friday.

The 19-year-old rookie is the first teenager in NBA history with multiple triple-doubles in a season after posting two in the past five games. But Doncic didn't flirt with one on Wednesday as he settled for 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a convincing 114-90 road win over the New York Knicks. The Pistons have dropped four of their past five contests as they enter the second contest of a four-game homestand. Power forward Blake Griffin scored 18 points in Tuesday's 115-105 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks after scoring 30 or more points in eight of his previous 11 appearances.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FS Southwest (Dallas), FS Detroit

ABOUT THE MAVERICKS (23-27): Point guard Dennis Smith Jr. scored 13 points, recorded a career-high 15 assists and matched his career best of 10 rebounds against the Knicks for his second career triple-double. Smith is averaging 15.5 points and 7.5 assists in four games since returning from a six-game hiatus in which he was unhappy with his role in the wake of Doncic's emergence as a ball-handler. "Smith had a big impact game," Carlisle told reporters, later adding this remark about Smith posting a triple-double one game after Doncic: "It means that they can play together if you ask me."

ABOUT THE PISTONS (21-28): With Detroit's season being mired in mediocrity, there is plenty of speculation that Griffin could be on the move prior to the Feb. 7 deadline. Pistons owner Tom Gores complimented Griffin's play on the team website and said he wouldn't be surprised if the 29-year-old is frustrated, while Griffin asserted that he hasn't requested a trade. "Yeah, I am happy here and of course I'm frustrated," Griffin told reporters. "You should be frustrated. But I still - like Tom - believe in this team and we can turn this around and (reel) off a couple of wins and be fine. The NBA, it's ups and downs. After a loss or several losses, you're not supposed to be happy. If there's guys in here smiling, point them out and I'll say something."

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Pistons won their past two home games against the Mavericks after dropping their previous five.

2. Dallas SG Wesley Matthews was 5-of-9 from 3-point range against New York after being 3-of-15 over the previous three contests.

3. Detroit SG Reggie Bullock (ankle) is "uncertain" according to coach Dwane Casey and could miss his second straight game.

PREDICTION: Pistons 106, Mavericks 103

Indiana Pacers vs. Orlando Magic Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NBA Predictions 31st January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/31/2019

The Indiana Pacers look to halt a season-worst three-game slide when they visit the Orlando Magic on Thursday. The Pacers are winless since losing star guard Victor Oladipo to a season-ending knee injury and their last two losses are by an average of 25 points.

Indiana has dominated Orlando by posting eight straight victories and in 15 of the past 16 so it will be glad to see the Magic after being trounced 107-89 by the host Washington Wizards on Wednesday. "Vic is not coming back," Pacers coach Nate McMillan told reporters after the club's lowest-scoring output of the season. "We have to move past that and not look on what we don't have and focus on what we do have. We have to get more energy in the game." The Magic have dropped four straight games and seven of their last eight after being outplayed in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's 126-117 home loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder. "It's kind of the story of our season - we don't maintain what works for us for 48 minutes," standout center Nikola Vucevic told reporters. "It's very disappointing and very tough to deal with."

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FS Indiana, FS Florida (Orlando)

ABOUT THE PACERS (32-18): McMillan is trying to keep his team from unraveling after a strong first 47 contests prior to the three-game slide. "We just got to roll up our sleeves and play with more energy and more hustle and more scrap," McMillan told reporters. "That's where it starts. We've got to get our mojo back." Small forward Bojan Bogdanovic poured in 26 points in a 112-90 road win over the Magic on Dec. 7 and he has scored 20 or more points on 14 occasions this season.

ABOUT THE MAGIC (20-31): Orlando hasn't had a player in the NBA All-Star Game since Dwight Howard in 2012 but Vucevic has a chance of ending that drought. Vucevic boasts career-best averages of 20.7 points, 12 rebounds along with 3.8 assists while posting 34 double-doubles, and appears to be on his way to surpassing his career high of 46 in that category. "It would be great for him and great for our franchise," Magic coach Steve Clifford told reporters. "He's really played at a high level at both ends of the floor. I think he's smart, and he gets himself ready to play every night."

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Pacers have won each of their past eight visits to Orlando.

2. Orlando SF Jonathan Simmons (abdominal) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game.

3. Indiana G Tyreke Evans (back) is expected to miss his third straight game.

PREDICTION: Magic 104, Pacers 100

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Toronto Raptors Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NBA Predictions 30th January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

The battle for first place in the Eastern Conference will go head-to-head when the Milwaukee Bucks visit the Toronto Raptors on Thursday. The Bucks go into the meeting with a half-game lead in the East and took two of the first three matchups against the Raptors, including a win at Toronto on Dec. 9.

Milwaukee began its five-game road trip with a loss at Oklahoma City on Sunday but managed to maintain its record as the lone team in the league without back-to-back setbacks by knocking off the Detroit Pistons 115-105 on Tuesday. Superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday, flirted with a triple-double and finished with 21 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds in the victory. The Raptors avoided a third consecutive setback on Sunday and closed a three-game road trip by edging the Dallas Mavericks 123-120, and they get two at home before hitting the road again for three more. Toronto is enjoying a 10-game winning streak at home that began after that 104-99 setback against the Bucks on Dec. 9.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, TNT, TSN 1/4/5 (Toronto)

ABOUT THE BUCKS (35-13): Injuries are getting to Milwaukee's backcourt, but seldom-used reserve Pat Connaughton is making the most of the opportunity and sprang for 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting in 22 minutes Tuesday after not getting off the bench in three of the previous four contests. "Unbelievable," Bucks point guard Eric Bledsoe told reporters of Connaughton. "Pat's been great all season when he does play. He always stays ready. He's a veteran. He's a professional, so he puts in the work. As I always say, just glad to see him come in and play well and we win." Connaughton could be a key player again on Thursday with shooting guards Malcolm Brogdon (chest), Sterling Brown (wrist) and Donte DiVincenzo (heel) all day-to-day.

ABOUT THE RAPTORS (37-15): Toronto has its own superstar forward in Kawhi Leonard, who scored at least 20 points in each of the last 22 games. Leonard, who sat out four straight as part of an injury maintenance program, averaged 32.5 points in two games since his return and recorded a double-double with 33 points and 10 rebounds in Sunday's triumph at Dallas. Center Serge Ibaka recorded a double-double in the win as well - his season-best fourth straight.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Raptors PG Kyle Lowry is 7-of-23 from the floor over the last two games.

2. Bucks C Brook Lopez is averaging 3.4 blocks over the last five contests.

3. Antetokounmpo is averaging 31 points and 18.5 rebounds in two games against Toronto this season.

PREDICTION: Raptors 121, Bucks 119

by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

The San Antonio Spurs pushed their winning streak to three in a row with a 126-124 triumph over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, but coach Gregg Popovich wasn't happy about it. The Spurs will try to put together a more complete effort against a stronger team when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday.

San Antonio turned the ball over six times in the fourth quarter against the Suns and needed a buzzer-beater from Rudy Gay to earn the win. "We were really fortunate to win the game," Popovich told reporters. "I thought that they outplayed us, outcoached us, outphysicaled us, outexecuted us. We had no respect for them or for the game. We didn't play with each other. It was a pathetic performance, and Phoenix got robbed." The Nets come in hot with wins in seven of their last eight games but had to grind out a 122-117 home win over the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday. "Grinding it out, keeping our head above water," Brooklyn coach Kenny Atkinson told reporters. "Toward the All-Star break, everybody's fatigued. They're fatigued, we're fatigued. We just found a way (and) it wasn't pretty at all. ... You look back on the end of the season and say that was a big win, so we knew it was important."

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, YES (Brooklyn), FS Southwest (San Antonio)

ABOUT THE NETS (28-24): Brooklyn's charge up the standings is being led by point guard D'Angelo Russell, who scored 24 of his 30 points in the second half on Tuesday. The 22-year-old is averaging 23.7 points on 48.9 percent shooting and 7.1 assists while leading the team to an 11-3 record in January. "I give him a lot of credit for the teaching moments," Russell told reporters of Atkinson. "My knowledge and IQ really rose to another level just from learning from my mistakes and him breaking it down and us (dissecting) the film together."

ABOUT THE SPURS (30-22): San Antonio averaged 128 points in winning its last three games but is not feeling great about its performances, especially at the defensive end. "We're just not as physical as we were when we were really playing well," Spurs guard Derrick White told reporters after Tuesday's win. "We have moments where we're doing the right things, but we haven't been consistent with it." Power forward LaMarcus Aldridge is doing his part and averaged 29 points and 11.7 rebounds over the last three games.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Spurs SF Davis Bertans averaged 19.5 points on 14-of-25 shooting in two games after sitting out a pair for personal reasons.

2. Nets reserve PG Shabazz Napier posted his first back-to-back 20-point efforts of the season in the last two games.

3. Brooklyn is trying to snap a 15-game losing streak in San Antonio.

PREDICTION: Spurs 123, Nets 118

Los Angeles Lakers vs. LA Clippers Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NBA Predictions 30th January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

LeBron James missed the last 17 games, during which the Los Angeles Lakers went 6-11 and tumbled out of the top eight in the Western Conference. James is back at practice and is questionable to return from a groin injury when the Lakers serve as the visiting team in a date with the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday.

James returned to practice on Sunday and the team is waiting to see how his body responds the rest of the week before deciding on a return. "We did three-minute scrimmages so, again, we'll see how his body responds to that and then from there we'll take it, as far as making those scrimmages longer or if he says, 'Hey I feel great, see if I can play,'" Lakers coach Luke Walton told reporters of James. "Then we'll make those adjustments. ... He's not driving the lane and tomahawk dunking on people right now. But he's moving well and he's getting to the paint and shooting jumpers and all those types of things." The Clippers are one of the teams sitting above the Lakers in the West and had a three-game winning streak come to an end with a 123-118 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday. "I'm not going to overreact," Clippers coach Doc Rivers told reporters. "I didn't think we were ready to play. Didn't matter what defense or offense we were in."

TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, Spectrum SportsNet (Lakers), Prime Ticket (Clippers)

ABOUT THE LAKERS (26-25): Los Angeles' young stars keep hearing their names being tossed out in trade rumors for New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis, and small forward Brandon Ingram took the opportunity to raise his stock on Tuesday. The 21-year-old exploded for a career-high 36 points on 16-of-20 shooting in a 121-105 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. "That's just part of the business," Ingram told ESPN of the trade speculation. "I realized that. There's different odds (of where Davis could end up) looking at everything. I can only control what I can control and just be the best that I can be every single day that I'm out on the floor."

ABOUT THE CLIPPERS (28-23): Los Angeles held five straight opponents to 106 points or fewer before letting the Hawks shoot 50.6 percent from the floor and score at least 29 points in each quarter on Monday. Point guard Patrick Beverley tried to do his part on that end with 10 rebounds and three steals but didn't get enough help in the setback. The Clippers are missing their own key piece due to injury with small forward Danilo Gallinari (back) on the shelf, and he is questionable for Thursday.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Clippers SF Tobias Harris is averaging 27 points over the last four games.

2. Lakers PF Kyle Kuzma (hip) sat out the last two games and is day-to-day.

3. The Clippers took seven of the last eight meetings.

PREDICTION: Clippers 111, Lakers 104

76ers vs. Warriors Preview and Predictions

by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

The Golden State Warriors are winners of 11 in a row and have seamlessly integrated center DeMarcus Cousins into the team's offense, giving opponents another headache to game plan around. The Warriors will try to push it to 12 straight against another team experimenting with some different lineups when they host the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.

Golden State swept a five-game road trip, capped by a 132-100 trashing of Indiana on Monday, and is trying to find its top gear as it prepares for the stretch run after the All-Star break. "Unbelievable trip," Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters. "Just a really good way to finish it, too, with everybody playing, everybody contributing, leading from start to finish. I was a little worried about this game. Everybody's anxious to get home. But we finished off the trip the right way, and it was great to see. ... We're in a good groove. We're in a good place, but we got to keep going." The 76ers are winners of three of their last four games and are experimenting with Jimmy Butler running the point and Ben Simmons moving into the frontcourt. "I liked what I saw," Philadelphia coach Brett Brown told reporters of having Butler run the offense for stretches of Tuesday's 121-105 win at the Los Angeles Lakers. "We didn't really run complicated offense. It was quite simple and spaced, and I thought he did a really good job with that."

TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, TNT, NBCS Philadelphia

ABOUT THE 76ERS (33-18): Butler collected 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting, six assists and five rebounds in 29 minutes on Tuesday and was a fan of the new offensive look. "It's a different look," Butler told reporters. "We've got so many guys who do so many things well. I think Ben gets to post up a little more, cut to the basket a little bit more, play off the ball a little bit more. I think when somebody else has the ball, it makes everybody else's job easier." Simmons finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists while logging a team-high 37 minutes.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS (36-14): Cousins made his season and team debut at the beginning of the trip and averaged 15.2 points in the five games, capped by 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting against the Pacers. "Every game, he's looking a little bit more athletic, more confident," All-Star guard Stephen Curry told reporters of Cousins. "Got a little bit more of a rhythm. Understanding where he's going to get his touches. Just the way he runs in transition defensively, the effort he's bringing on that end of the floor, as well." Curry is in his own groove and needed only 13 shots to score 26 points while going 6-of-8 from 3-point range on Monday.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Warriors PF Draymond Green (rest) sat out Monday's win but is expected back on Thursday.

2. 76ers C Joel Embiid posted a double-double in each of his last three games, bringing his season total to 41.

3. Golden State took the last 10 meetings.

PREDICTION: Warriors 131, 76ers 122

New York Rangers vs. New Jersey Devils Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NHL Predictions 30th January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

The All-Star break helped the New Jersey Devils snap out of a funk but had the opposite effect on the New York Rangers, stalling their momentum from a rare winning streak. After ending a three-game slide with a 6-3 rout of the Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey looks to continue the momentum when they host the Rangers on Thursday night in the first of four meetings this season.

Travis Zajac had his fourth career four-point game with a goal and three assists as the Devils drubbed Pittsburgh for only their sixth road win in 26 games (6-17-3). "Everyone looked fresh. Everyone was moving," New Jersey goaltender Keith Kinkaid said. "We just have to be consistent and that starts from me out to consistency the rest of the way." New York, which has a five-game homestand following Thursday's matchup, was denied in its bid to match a season-high winning streak in a 1-0 loss to Philadelphia. "We came out and we looked a little -- I don't want to say disjointed, but it just looked like the hands, the head and the feet weren't working together," Rangers coach David Quinn said.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, ESPN-Plus, MSG, MSG-Plus

ABOUT THE RANGERS (21-21-7): Kevin Hayes recorded a team high-tying nine shots on goal in his return to the lineup after missing nine games due to an upper-body injury, but he could be headed out of town given his status as an impending free agent. "I love everything about New York," Hayes said. "I've been here five years. I never thought I would call New York home and I do now, and it's been an absolute blast for five years. If I had my choice, I'd be here." Rookie Brett Howden suffered a knee sprain against the Flyers and was scheduled to undergo an MRI exam on Wednesday, but Quinn said he will be sidelined for a while.

ABOUT THE DEVILS (19-23-7): Defenseman Sami Vatanen suffered a concussion after he was knocked into the boards by Derick Brassard in Monday's game and was unable to practice Tuesday and Wednesday. "Next morning, he came in, got evaluated, but then he wasn't feeling totally right," New Jersey coach John Hynes said. "So they did the test (Tuesday) after practice. So I don't have a timetable on him yet." Reigning league MVP Taylor Hall, who has been sidelined since suffering a lower-body injury on Dec. 23, also did not practice Tuesday and Wednesday while defenseman Ben Lovejoy and forward Stefan Noesen are skating on their own.

OVERTIME

1. Rangers G Henrik Lundqvist has more wins (36) and shutouts (8) against the Devils than any other opponent.

2. New Jersey won three of four meetings last season and owns a six-game point streak (5-0-1) at home against New York.

3. Rangers F Mats Zuccarello is expected to be back in the lineup after missing Tuesday's game.

PREDICTION: Devils 3, Rangers 2

Flyers vs. Bruins Preview and Predictions

by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

Tuukka Rask could be in line to set the franchise record for victories on Thursday when the Boston Bruins host the streaking Philadelphia Flyers, who have won a season-high five in a row. The 2014 Vezina Trophy recipient practiced on Wednesday for the first time since sustaining a concussion in a collision with New York Rangers forward Filip Chytil during Boston's 3-2 loss on Jan. 19.

"Good chance (Rask will be in). We're going to wait," Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. "Normally I'll announce (the goaltender) the day before. Let's see how he does in the morning. It was his first full practice, we want to make sure there's no fatigue and whatnot." Rask, who sports a sterling 14-2-3 mark with two shutouts, a 1.99 goals-against average and .930 save percentage against Philadelphia, is bidding for his 253rd win to move past Tiny Thompson for first place on Boston's all-time list. The Flyers, who have been outshot in all five contests of their winning streak, tightened up defensively after Oskar Lindblom's early first-period goal in Tuesday's 1-0 victory versus the Rangers. Sean Couturier (team-leading 19 goals), who set up Lindblom's tally to record at least a point in seven of his last eight games, posted his first regular-season hat trick as Philadelphia overcame an early deficit in a 4-3 win over Boston on Jan. 16.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, NHL Network, Sportsnet, TVAS, NBCS Philadelphia, NESN (Boston)

ABOUT THE FLYERS (21-23-6): Rookie Carter Hart has been confirmed to get the nod on Thursday after fellow goaltender Anthony Stolarz recorded his second career shutout following a 38-save performance versus New York. The 20-year-old Hart has turned aside 137 of 147 shots during his personal four-game win streak, highlighted by a career-high 39-save performance in the Flyers' victory versus the Bruins two weeks ago. Jakub Voracek had an assist in that contest as well as in Tuesday's tilt with the Rangers, giving him eight points (one goal, seven assists) in his last eight games.

ABOUT THE BRUINS (27-17-6): Patrice Bergeron tallied twice in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to Winnipeg, boosting his point total to 12 (four goals, eight assists) in 11 games this month. Although the four-time Selke Trophy recipient has been held off the scoresheet in both encounters this season versus the Flyers, linemate David Pastrnak (team-high 28 goals, 59 points) scored in the more recent meeting and had a goal and two assists against the Jets to push his point total to 11 (five goals, six assists) this month. Brad Marchand set up two goals versus the Flyers two weeks ago and pushed his point streak to five games (three goals, six assists) with three of his club-best 37 assists this season on Tuesday.

OVERTIME

1. Philadelphia captain Claude Giroux set up two goals in the most recent meeting with Boston to boost his team-leading totals in assists (38) and points (52).

2. Bruins G Jaroslav Halak, who is 1-5-0 in his last six appearances, made 26 saves in a 3-0 win over the Flyers on Oct. 25 before surrendering four goals on 19 shots in the rematch.

3. Lindblom has two goals and two assists in his last four games.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Winnipeg Jets Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NHL Predictions 30th January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

The Winnipeg Jets have posted a Western Conference-leading 18 wins at Bell MTS Place and look to add to that mark when they open a three-game homestand against the slumping Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night. Winnipeg, which owns a two-point lead over the Nashville Predators atop the Central Division, wrapped up a four-game road trip with a 4-3 shootout win at Boston on Tuesday.

Kyle Connor helped the Jets rebound from a lackluster 3-1 loss at Philadelphia 24 hours earlier by scoring twice in the third period before netting the lone goal in the shootout. "It's always tough coming off a break, no matter how much you put into it and stay in shape," Connor said. "Nothing's like game shape." Columbus saw its losing streak reach a season-high three games with a 5-4 home loss to Buffalo on Tuesday in the first contest since star forward Artemi Panarin announced he would not address his contract situation until after the season. "Everything needs to improve," coach John Tortorella said. "I don't want to hear it was because of the (All-Star) break. You can't be as sloppy as we were."

TV: 8 p.m. ET, ESPN-Plus, FS Ohio (Columbus), TSN3 (Winnipeg)

ABOUT THE BLUE JACKETS (28-18-3): All-Star forward Cam Atkinson is on pace to shatter his career high of 35 goals set in 2016-17, scoring for the fourth time in six games to boost his season total to 28 while linemates Pierre-Luc Dubois and Panarin matched him with two points apiece. Despite the three-game slide, Columbus is receiving stellar work from its penalty-killing units, snuffing out 25 straight short-handed situations and not allowing a power-play goal in 11 games. "We have momentum going right now with it," defenseman Seth Jones said. "We feel like every time we go out there, we can kill it off and even create off of it."

ABOUT THE JETS (32-16-2): Forward Patrik Laine is tied for the team lead with 25 goals despite being mired in a slump that has seen him produce one tally and two assists over the past dozen games. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 draft, Laine amassed 80 goals over his first two seasons and erupted for 18 tallies in the month of November before hitting a wall, managing only four goals over the past 26 games and bottoming out in Tuesday's win in Boston. Coach Paul Maurice had Laine on the bench for much of the second period and the third-year forward wound up playing a career-low 10:55 while failing to register a shot on goal.

OVERTIME

1. Jets C Mark Scheifele collected two assists Tuesday to give him 12 points in his last 10 games.

2. Blue Jackets C Boone Jenner will miss his second straight game with an undisclosed injury.

3. Jets captain Blake Wheeler has 12 points in his last 10 games overall and 10 in 13 matchups versus Columbus.

Purdue Boilermakers vs. Penn St. Nittany Lions Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NCAAB Predictions 30th January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

Purdue will try to follow up a significant win over the Big Ten's leaders when it visits the conference doormats Thursday night with a matchup at Penn State. The 18th-ranked Boilermakers ran their winning streak to five games with a 73-63 victory over No. 8 Michigan State on Sunday, opening up a 23-point lead before fending off a late charge to avenge their last defeat.

"There were a lot of regrets coming out of that game," sophomore center Matt Haarms told reporters in reference to the earlier loss to the Spartans. "This time we felt we really had something to prove, because I don't think what we showed in East Lansing was representative of this team. Today we had a great opportunity to show everybody what this team is really about, and I think we definitely did that." Purdue is 1 1/2 games behind Michigan and Michigan State in the race for the top spot in the Big Ten, and it has just one team currently ranked - No. 24 Maryland - remaining in the final 11 games, including two matchups with the last-place Nittany Lions. Penn State saw another chance for its first league win vanish with a 64-60 home loss to Rutgers on Saturday, and the pressure continues to build on head coach Pat Chambers. "I feel really good about where we are as a staff and what we're doing as a program," Chambers told reporters Tuesday. "My expectations are high. I did not expect to be in this situation. We just have to keep getting better and keep growing."

TV: 7 p.m. ET, Fox Sports 1

ABOUT PURDUE (14-6, 7-2 Big Ten): Junior guard Carsen Edwards entered Wednesday ranked sixth nationally in scoring (24.2 points per game) but was held to 14 on 4-of-19 shooting against Michigan State. Senior guard Ryan Cline picked up some of the slack with 17 points - boosting his average to 12.6 - while making 5-of-10 from 3-point range. Freshman forward Aaron Wheeler hit all three of his attempts from long range in the victory and he and Cline rank second and third, respectively, in 3-point shooting in conference play, combining to make 39-of-82 attempts versus Big Ten opponents.

ABOUT PENN STATE (7-13, 0-9): Junior forward Lamar Stevens scored 21 points in the loss to the Scarlet Knights to bump his average to 18.7, third in the Big Ten. His teammates combined to shoot 13-of-41 from the floor for a squad that is shooting 39.3 percent in league play, which ranks 13th out of the conference's 14 teams. Guard Rasir Bolton (11.4 points per game) bounced back from a scoreless effort at Minnesota to score 11 against Rutgers while fellow freshman Myles Dread (8.8) has reached double figures in four of his last five contests.

TIP-INS

1. Boilermakers G Nojel Eastern had a career high-tying 12 points, a career-high 11 rebounds and zero turnovers in 25 minutes against Michigan State.

2. Nittany Lions G Jamari Wheeler is scoreless without a shot attempt in 40 minutes over his last two games and has 12 points on 4-of-21 shooting in Big Ten play.

3. Purdue has won seven straight meetings, including the semifinals of the conference tournament last March.

Xavier Musketeers vs. Georgetown Hoyas Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NCAAB Predictions 30th January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

Still in search of its first winning streak in the Big East, Georgetown will have a good chance to get it Thursday against visiting Xavier. The Hoyas rode freshmen Mac McClung, James Akinjo and Josh LeBlanc to a critical win at St. John's, but it will all be for naught if they cannot thwart the struggling Musketeers.

As they have in many games this season, the Hoyas had every opportunity to fold down the stretch against St. John's, but their freshmen would not allow it as they accounted for the final 10 points in an 89-78 victory. McClung shined the brightest of the trio, hitting for 25 points - his most in a Big East contest - one game after struggling in a bad home loss to Creighton. "We're learning. We've got some good leaders, but we're learning and trying to take everything in," McClung told the media. "Having a coach (Patrick Ewing) that has your back is the biggest thing in my opinion." The Musketeers won the first meeting with the Hoyas 81-75 on Jan. 9 behind a double-double from Zach Hankins and followed it up with another home win against Butler before dropping three straight games, the latest 87-82 to No. 9 Marquette on Saturday.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, CBS Sports Network

ABOUT XAVIER (11-10, 3-5 Big East): Hankins hasn't been able to match or exceed his 23-point, 10-rebound effort he enjoyed in the first meeting against Georgetown, but the senior from Charlevoix, Mich., is still on pace to break the Big East and Xavier records for field goal percentage in a season. The 6-11 forward sits at 71.5 percent, which would easily top the school standard of 65.4 percent set by Xavier Hall of Famer Brian Grant in 1992-93. The Big East mark of 68.3 percent belongs to David Padgett, who did it for Louisville in 2007-08.

ABOUT GEORGETOWN (13-7, 3-4): Meaningful contributions have been few and far between for Jamorko Pickett, who after a solid freshman season has been relegated to a lesser role behind this season's newcomers. The 6-8 guard from Washington, D.C., supplied nine points and seven rebounds to the win over St. John's, including a big 3-pointer that kick started a 10-0 run for the Hoyas early in the second half. LeBlanc also scored his most points in a Big East game with 15 against the Red Storm and the Baton Rouge, La., native had two dunks and made a pair of free throws as the Hoyas pulled away down the stretch.

TIP-INS

1. Paul Scruggs, who leads the Musketeers in scoring at 13.3 points per game, has made 11-of-20 from 3-point land over the last four games to climb to fourth in the Big East (46.4 percent).

2. Xavier has dominated the series with the Hoyas with 14 wins in 18 meetings, including six straight and 10 of 12 as Big East foes.

3. A loss would add peril to Xavier's streak of 36 straight seasons with a .500 or better record in conference play, a mark that is five seasons longer than any other Division I program.

PREDICTION: Xavier 78, Georgetown 73

Oregon St. Beavers vs. Colorado Buffaloes Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NCAAB Predictions 30th January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

Oregon State and Colorado have fallen on tough times of late, both dropping three of their last four games to slide in the Pac-12 standings. They meet Thursday night in Boulder, giving one of the two the chance to start a much-needed turnaround.

At 4-3 and tied for sixth place in the conference, the Beavers are in better shape than the 2-5 (10th-place) Buffaloes. Still, Oregon State's usually smooth-running offense has hit some rough patches of late as the Beavers have finished with more turnovers than assists in each of their last two losses and have shot 44 percent or worse in two of their last three defeats. Now they head back out on the road where they've won only two of their last 21 Pac-12 contests dating back to the 2016-17 season. Colorado, meanwhile, is home for four of its next six but will have to pick things up offensively as the team ranks 11th in the conference with an average of 68.3 points in Pac-12 play.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, Pac-12 Network

ABOUT OREGON STATE (12-7, 4-3 Pac-12): The Beavers split a home series last week against the Washington schools, but senior guard Stephen Thompson Jr. did just about all he could to propel his team toward a sweep, totaling 52 points on 20-of-35 shooting while pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out eight assists. Thompson is averaging 15.9 points per game overall, and joins his younger brother Ethan Thompson (13.5 points) and forward Tres Tinkle (20.3 points, team-leading 8.2 rebounds) in averaging double figures. The Beavers rank second in the conference in both field-goal percentage (46.9) and assists per game (16.0) but are shooting a conference-worst 32.8 percent from 3-point range.

ABOUT COLORADO (11-8, 2-5): The Buffaloes' only Pac-12 wins have come against cellar-dwellers California and Washington State and they've lost their other five conference contests by at least seven points apiece. Leading scorer/point guard McKinley Wright (12.7 points, 5.1 assists) returned last week after missing the Jan. 20 loss at Utah with a shoulder injury, but due to injuries and academic issues, Colorado is down to nine scholarship players overall. Guards Tyler Bey (12.6 points) and Shane Gatling (11.6) and forward Lucas Siewert (10.6) are the team's leading scorers in conference play, and the 6-7 Bey has even been better of late, averaging 15.4 points and 9.6 rebounds over his last five games.

TIP-INS

1. Colorado has won eight of the 13 meetings since joining the Pac-12 in 2011 and is 9-1 at home against Oregon State.

2. The Beavers are shooting 74.2 percent from the free-throw line, which is on track to be the program's best single-season mark since 1976-77 (74.3).

3. The battle on the boards looks to be dead even with Colorado (5.4) and Oregon State (5.3) ranking third and fourth, respectively, in Pac-12 average rebounding margin.

PREDICTION: Colorado 74, Oregon State 71

Oregon Ducks vs. Utah Utes Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NCAAB Predictions 30th January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

Surging Utah has won four straight games and is coming off its first ever Bay Area road sweep. The Utes will look to build on the momentum Thursday night when they host Oregon.

Utah's surge has elevated it into a second-place Pac-12 tie with USC at 5-2 in the conference. Now the Utes are back home for a pair of games and four of their next six as they try to add to their 7-2 mark at the Huntsman Center, but coach Larry Krystkowiak says simply playing in Salt Lake City isn't a guarantee in itself. "There's nothing magical about (being) home," Krystkowiak told the Salt Lake Tribune last weekend. "We've got to keep grinding with this group." Oregon, meanwhile, has lost two of its last three to fall to 3-4 (eighth place in the Pac-12) and now must play five of its next seven on the road, beginning Thursday night.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, Fox Sports 1

ABOUT OREGON (12-8, 3-4 Pac-12): After consecutive losses at Arizona State (78-64) and at home against first-place Washington (61-56), the Ducks salvaged a homestand split Saturday with a 78-58 rout of Washington State. Freshman forward Louis King led the way with 22 points against the Cougars and now has scored in double figures in all seven conference games to pace the team with a 17.9 scoring average in Pac-12 play. Fellow forward Paul White (14.4 points) is the only other Oregon player averaging double figures in conference action while senior point guard Payton Pritchard is averaging 9.9 points, 4.9 assists and 2.1 steals against Pac-12 foes.

ABOUT UTAH (11-8, 5-2): Senior guard Sedrick Barefield leads the Utes with 16.2 points per outing - 18.1 in conference play - and has averaged 20.3 over the team's last three contests. Freshman forward Timmy Allen has stepped up to give the Utes a formidable inside-outside punch as he's averaging 13.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in Pac-12 games following his double-double (17 points and 12 boards) Saturday - his second in his last three contests. As a team, Utah ranks sixth in the conference with 75.3 points per game but is tops in overall field-goal percentage (47.3) and 3-point accuracy (38.2).

TIP-INS

1. Oregon has won 10 of the last 11 meetings, including a 68-66 victory in last season's Pac-12 tournament quarterfinals and three straight triumphs in Salt Lake City.

2. The pressing Ducks easily pace the Pac-12 in allowing just 64.4 points per outing and also are tops in 3-point percentage defense with opponents shooting only 30.2 percent from long range.

3. The 6-6 Allen has averaged 9.2 rebounds over his last five games after averaging 3.4 over his first 14 contests.

Arizona Wildcats vs. Arizona State Sun Devils Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NCAAB Predictions 30th January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

Following last week's dismal road trip, Arizona looks to regroup Thursday against rival Arizona State in Tempe. The Wildcats suffered two blowout losses at USC and UCLA and face another strong test against the Sun Devils, who have won five of their last seven games.

The Wildcats are clearly a different team without Duke transfer Chase Jeter, who has missed the last two games with a sore back and will be a game-time decision Thursday. The 6-10 junior averages 12.6 points and 7.2 rebounds for an Arizona team that was outrebounded 98-69 in last week's two losses. "We're a much better team with Chase," coach Sean Miller told reporters. "I don't know the outcome of those games if he had played, but he gives us the size up front. He also allows everybody to be in the role that they want to be in. Everybody's in a different role right now, and we're playing shorthanded." If Jeter is forced to miss his third straight game, the Wildcats could struggle to keep pace with an Arizona State team that is 9-2 at home and leads the Pac-12 in scoring at 78.8 points per game.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, ESPN2

ABOUT ARIZONA (14-7, 5-3 Pac-12): These are unusual times for Arizona, a traditional power that lost to the Los Angeles teams by a combined 44 points and ranks last in the league in shooting percentage (43.3). Freshman guard Brandon Williams was one of the few bright spots in last Saturday's 90-69 loss to UCLA, scoring 19 points while shooting 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Sophomore guard Brandon Randolph averages a team-high 14.9 points but needs to regain his stroke after shooting a combined 15-for-51 from the field over the past four games.

ABOUT ARIZONA STATE (14-6, 5-3): Senior forward Zylan Cheatham is averaging 11.8 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists for the Sun Devils, who saw their three-game win streak come to an end with last Saturday's 69-67 loss to USC. The San Diego State transfer grabbed a total of 34 rebounds in two games last week, but the Sun Devils struggled on the offensive end in the loss to USC, shooting 30.6 percent from the field. Freshman guard Luguentz Dort averages a team-high 12.9 points in league play but was held to nine points on 2-of-13 shooting against the Trojans.

TIP-INS

1. Arizona has won the last six meetings against Arizona State and holds a 152-82 lead in the series.

2. Arizona State forward Taeshon Cherry (head injury) missed last Saturday's contest and is listed as day-to-day.

3. Arizona is 210-27 under Miller when leading at halftime - including 12-2 this season.

PREDICTION: Arizona State 74, Arizona 69

Connecticut Huskies vs. Central Florida Knights Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NCAAB Predictions 30th January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

Central Florida tries to bounce back from its worst loss of the season when it hosts Connecticut on Thursday in an American Athletic Conference game. The Knights had won nine of their last 10 contests before they were routed 77-57 at Memphis on Sunday, getting outrebounded 46-28 - 21-12 offensively - and going 6-for-26 from 3-point range.

"This is a tough, tough loss for us, but we have to go home and regroup," UCF coach Johnny Dawkins told reporters. "This is a great league. Everybody's going to play well. You have to bring your A game." The Huskies have won two straight after Saturday's 80-60 victory over Wichita State with the backcourt duo of junior Christian Vital (season-high 21 points) and senior Jalen Adams (19 points, 12 rebounds) leading the way. "I feel like we kind of have the best chemistry in the country," Vital told reporters about his relationship with Adams. "Just because we know each other's game so much. We know where we want the ball and then, as you saw, when it's time to take over, we can do that together." UCF prevailed 65-53 on Jan. 5 for its first victory at Connecticut in seven tries behind a season-high 23 points from junior guard Aubrey Dawkins.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, ESPNU

ABOUT UCONN (12-8, 3-4 American): Adams leads the team in scoring at 18.2 points and has averaged 22.8 in his last five games since recording only eight in the first meeting with the Knights. Vital has averaged 16 points in conference games, raising his season average to 13.7 to go along with 5.6 rebounds. Sophomore guard Alterique Gilbert (13.0 points, club-most 3.8 assists) re-injured his left shoulder Saturday and did not practice Monday or Tuesday.

ABOUT UCF (15-4, 5-2): Senior guard B.J. Taylor, the conference preseason player of the year, is bidding to lead the club in scoring for the third straight season with an average of 16.7 points. Dawkins (15.4 points, 5.4 rebounds) was held to two points versus Memphis after averaging 18.8 in his previous five games. Senior 7-6 center Tacko Fall (9.8 points, team-high 7.1 rebounds) leads the conference and was seventh nationally with 2.84 blocks per game entering Wednesday, and paces the American in field-goal shooting at 74.8 percent to help the Knights shoot a conference-best 46.7.

TIP-INS

1. The Huskies used the same starting lineup in their first 20 games: Adams, Vital, Gilbert, sophomore F Josh Carlton (7.8 points, 4.8 rebounds) and sophomore F Tyler Polley (7.5 points).

2. UCF, which has won nine straight at home, is off to its best 19-game start since the 2003-04 team began 16-3 and its best conference start since joining the American in 2013-14.

3. Connecticut is 0-3 in true road games this season after going 6-17 over the previous two campaigns, including 2-9 in 2017-18.

Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. Brigham Young Cougars Preview and Predictions 2019-01-31

NCAAB Predictions 30th January 2019 by Gracenote
by Gracenote on 01/30/2019

Fourth-ranked Gonzaga looks to record its 11th consecutive victory when it visits BYU in West Coast Conference play on Thursday. The Bulldogs have won by an average of 36.2 points during their 10-game winning streak but could be tested by the Cougars, who are 10-1 at home.

A triumph would give Gonzaga its 22nd straight 20-win season as well as extend its NCAA record of consecutive conference road victories to 28. The Bulldogs are coming off a 98-39 steamrolling of Santa Clara and the 59-point margin of victory ranks third in school history while the program record 61-point shellacking of Denver also occurred this season on Dec. 21. "Before we start a game, we talk about making a statement that we're No. 1 in the country," junior forward Rui Hachimura told reporters. "It doesn't matter who we are against. We have bigger goals." BYU recorded a 71-66 win over Saint Mary's in its last outing as standout junior forward Yoeli Childs had 23 points and 11 rebounds for his 32nd career double-double.

TV: 11 p.m. ET, ESPN2

ABOUT GONZAGA (19-2, 6-0 WCC): The Bulldogs set a program record by committing just two turnovers against Santa Clara while forcing 18 miscues and turning them into 26 points. Senior point guard Josh Perkins (11-point scoring average) has been a solid ball-handler all season and is averaging 6.6 assists while committing just 40 turnovers in 21 games. Hachimura averages a team-best 19.9 points with junior power forward Brandon Clarke (16.3 points, team-leading 7.7 rebounds) and sophomore guard Zach Norvell Jr. (15.7 points) also enjoying solid campaigns.

ABOUT BYU (13-9, 5-2): The Cougars have won four of their past five games and also committed only two turnovers in their last outing while pressuring Saint Mary's into 15 and converting the mistakes into 17 points. Childs leads the WCC in scoring (22.3) and rebounding (9.7) and has scored 20 or more points in each of the past six games. Junior guard TJ Haws is averaging 17.6 points and leads BYU in assists (5.2) and 3-point baskets (43).

TIP-INS

1. Gonzaga has won in each of its last four visits to Provo and is 5-2 overall on BYU's home floor.

2. Childs has 15 20-point efforts and 12 double-doubles this season.

3. Clarke has 66 blocked shots and is four shy of matching the school's single-season mark set by Austin Daye in the 2008-09 campaign.

Inside the Paint - Thursday

Milwaukee (36-13 SU, 27-20-2 ATS) at Toronto (37-15 SU, 22-29-1 ATS)

The TNT double-header (8:05 p.m. ET) begins Thursday with a possible preview of this year’s Eastern Conference Finals as the Bucks and Raptors meet for the fourth and final time in the regular season. The latest futures market has Toronto (2/1) and Milwaukee (3/1) as the top contenders to win the East along with Boston (2/1) and Philadelphia (6/1).

Toronto holds a one-game over Milwaukee for the top seed in the Eastern Conference and the sense of urgency should be with the home squad. The Bucks won and covered their first two encounters against the Raptors this season, a 124-109 decision at home on Oct. 29 before a 104-99 road win on Dec. 9.

Toronto avenged those losses with a 123-116 win over Milwaukee as a 5 ½-point road underdog on Jan. 5 and it will need to claim Thursday’s win to salvage a season split.

The Raptors didn’t have Kawhi Leonard available for the loss in Milwaukee at the end of October but he did post 30 points on the Bucks in early January. Make a note that Bucks All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo also missed the first meeting of the regular season between the two teams but the Greek product posted 43 points in the recent setback to the Raptors. Unfortunately, Milwaukee’s supporting cast couldn’t buy a shot and that’s been an issue on the road.

The Bucks are ranked first in scoring offense at home with 120 points per game but that number drops to 114.1 on the road. Expecting a high-scoring game could be wishful thinking knowing the Toronto is holding opponents to 106.7 PPG at home.

That defensive effort has helped Toronto go 21-4 at home but it hasn’t been profitable (12-13 ATS) for bettors. Keep in mind that 11 of the 13 non-covers occurred in straight up wins when the team was laying 8 ½ points or more.

BookMaker sent out Toronto as a 2 ½-point home favorite for this installment, which is a drop-off from the spread (Raptors -5) in their first encounter from Scotiabank Arena in December. Since Milwaukee won that game at Toronto, the Raptors have ripped off 10 straight wins at home.

The adjustment from +5 to +2 ½ on the Bucks certainly shows how much respect Milwaukee has earned from the oddsmakers this season. Head coach Mike Budenholzer has been able to pull the right strings and he also has one of the deepest teams in the league. He’s surrounded Antetokounmpo with a ton of shooters and they’re not afraid to hoist from distance. The Bucks are ranked second in the league with 37.7 attempts from 3-point land, only behind Houston. When those bombs are connecting, 40-point quarters become the norm for Milwaukee.

The Bucks have only been listed as underdogs five times this season and they’ve gone 4-1 both SU and ATS in those games while the ‘over’ has gone 4-1 as well. The lone loss was a four-point setback (117-113) at Boston on Nov. 1, which was a highly competitive game.

Only four teams in the East owning winning records on the road and Milwaukee (14-9 SU, 11-10-2 ATS) is one of them. The Bucks enter this game with a 4-1 record in their last five away games, which includes Tuesday’s 115-105 win at Detroit as a seven-point favorite.

Toronto hasn’t played since Sunday when it snapped a two-game losing skid at Dallas with a 123-120 win as a 4 ½-point road favorite. The Raptors have gone 2-0 (0-2 ATS) this season when playing on three days or rest or more and the ‘over’ has cashed in both those games.

The total on this game opened 230 ½ and the early money has pushed the number to 232 as of Thursday morning. The ‘over’ is on a 5-1 run in this series and that includes a 2-1 mark in the last three games play in Canada.

Philadelphia (33-18 SU, 24-27 ATS) at Golden State (36-14 SU, 23-26-1 ATS)

The Warriors and 76ers will wrap up the TNT double-header at 10:35 p.m. ET in a quality non-conference matchup. Oddsmakers sent out Golden State as an 8 ½-point home favorite and the number has been nudged up to -9 ½ as of Thursday morning.

The Warriors have been on a roll, winners in 11 straight games and they’ve produced a 6-4-1 ATS mark during the streak. The team is 5-0 since DeMarcus Cousins suited up on Jan. 18 and the defense (106.8 PPG) has actually dropped from their season average (111.8 PPG).

This will be the first game back at Oracle Arena after winning five straight on the road and getting up for the first contest back at home is never easy. Plus, the 76ers are no slouch and they’re starting to click on all cylinders as well.

Philadelphia has gone 10-4 in 2019 and while a couple of the losses were embarrassing (Wizards, Hawks), they’ve posted some quality wins recently over the Pacers, Rockets and Spurs.

After losing at Denver 126-110 on Saturday with a short-handed squad, Philadelphia bounced back on Tuesday with a wire-to-wire 121-105 blowout over the L.A. Lakers from the Staples Center. The 76ers have won seven of their last nine games against the Western Conference and the offense is averaging 120.4 PPG in those games.

Philly is going to need hit that average and perhaps more on Thursday because Golden State’s offense has been lights out. During its 11-game winning streak, the Warriors are averaging 128.9 PPG and that’s helped the ‘over’ go 8-3.

Along with its current winning streak, Golden State has also won 10 in a row against Philadelphia. The 76ers have saved some face and turned profits for bettors during this run by going 6-1- ATS in the last seven meetings and they were catching some heavy digits.

Last season in the Bay Area, the Warriors ran the 76ers by 21 points (135-114) at home as 13 ½-point favorites.

Versus the East this season, Golden State has gone 15-4 SU and 12-7 ATS. Two of those non-conference losses did come at home to the clubs (Bucks, Raptors) playing in the first game on TNT tonight. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Philadelphia join the duo and the money-line (+380) does seem tempting, especially knowing that the 76ers have gone 13-5 against the West this season. Make a note that a lot of those wins came against the cellar dwellers in that conference and they’re just 4-4 away from home.

Anytime I see a total listed in the 230s, my initial instinct is to play the ‘over’ and Thursday’s opener was sent out at 240 ½.

Golden State (28-22) and Philadelphia (28-23) have both leaned to the ‘over’ this season but most of the high side tickets for the Warriors have come on the road (17-9) as opposed to home (11-13).

The Warriors have had six totals this season close in the 240s and the ‘over/under’ went 3-3 in those games. Philadelphia has never been in that totals neighborhood but it has had 10 numbers close in the 230s and the ‘under’ is 7-3.

If there is one flaw in the 76ers game this season, it’s their defense. The unit is ranked 22nd in scoring, surrendering 112.1 PPG and that’s a big jump from 105.3 PPG last season.

The pair will meet again on Mar. 2 from Philadelphia in a Saturday night showdown.

Along with the nationally televised games on TNT, we’ve got four other contests set for Thursday.

Indiana at Orlando: Since Victor Oladipo (quad) went down for the season, the Pacers have dropped three straight games and that includes last night’s 107-89 loss at Washington. Indiana has been solid on no rest (6-2 SU, 6-2 ATS) but it looks mentally shook right now. While I’m not sold on the Pacers, it’s hard to back the Magic as home favorites. They’ve gone 4-6 SAU and 3-7 ATS when laying points at home and none of those wins came against a team with a winning record.

Dallas at Detroit: Quick rematch game here as the Mavericks defeated the Pistons 106-101 last Friday as five-point favorites. The game pushed and the total pushed (207) as well. For the rematch, Detroit (-2) is listed as a short favorite and they’re catching Dallas on no rest. This has been an issue for the Mavericks, who have gone 1-7 SU and 4-4 ATS when facing back-to-back sets.

Brooklyn at San Antonio: DeMar DeRozan (knee) is expected to be back tonight but this line seems a little short with San Antonio only laying seven points. The Spurs have won six straight against the Nets and they’ve gone 4-0-2 ATS during this run while the ‘under’ is 5-1. San Antonio has been a solid investment at home recently, going 15-5 SU and 14-6 ATS. The spread only mattered in one of those games, which took place on Tuesday as the Spurs defeated the Suns 126-124 but failed to cover as 13 ½-point home favorites.

L.A. Lakers at L.A. Clippers: LeBron James (groin) has been ruled ‘out’ for this game and the Clippers opened as home favorites (-5 ½) over the Lakers. The pair recently played in late December and the Clippers captured a 118-107 over the Lakers as seven-point road favorites. The Clippers have been solid as home favorites, going 13-6 SU and 12-7 ATS.

Thursday's Tip Sheet
Kevin Rogers

Temple at Houston – 7:00 PM EST – ESPN2

Every team in the country has been dealt at least one defeat this season, while five squads own only one loss. One of those five clubs is Houston (20-1 SU, 14-6-1 ATS), who is the first team to reach 20 victories after beating Tulsa on Sunday, 77-65 as 7 ½-point road favorites. The Cougars have covered in six of seven AAC wins, while posting a perfect 15-0 record at Ferfitta Center.

The only blemish on the season for Kelvin Sampson’s squad came on January 9 in Philadelphia to Temple in a 73-69 defeat. The Owls (15-5 SU, 8-10-2 ATS) held off the Cougars after building a nine-point lead in the second half, aided by 22 points from guard Quinton Rose. Both teams shot under 40% from the floor, while Temple converted 25-of-28 free throws to snap a three-game skid to Houston dating back to January 2017.

Temple is riding an eight-game OVER streak, coming off a 72-68 setback to Cincinnati on Sunday. The Owls were on their way to a cover as 3 ½-point home underdogs, leading the Bearcats, 41-27 two minutes into the second half. However, Cincinnati rallied back to take the lead with less than six minutes remaining as the Owls were handed their first AAC home loss in four tries this season.

Arizona at Arizona State – 9:00 PM EST – ESPN2

It’s the first of two meetings for these Grand Canyon State rivals as the schools hook up in Tempe on Thursday. Arizona (14-7 SU, 10-10-1 ATS) jumped out to an impressive 4-0 start in Pac-12 play, but the Wildcats have gone backwards of late by dropping three of the past four games. The last two defeats in Los Angeles were especially ugly as Arizona lost by 23 points at USC last Thursday and suffered a 21-point setback at UCLA on Saturday.

Arizona State (14-6 SU, 10-9-1 ATS) also spent the weekend in the City of Angels and picked up a split after winning at UCLA and dropping a two-point decision at USC. The Sun Devils were tripped up by Utah as 11-point favorites in their Pac-12 opener, but ASU has not lost in Tempe since then by beating Colorado, Oregon, and Oregon State at Wells Fargo Arena. Last season, Bobby Hurley’s squad put together a dreadful 4-12-2 ATS mark in conference play, but the Sun Devils have already started 4-4 ATS inside the league.

This series has been owned by Arizona, who has captured the last six meetings over the previous three seasons. Since ASU upset Arizona as 8 ½-point underdogs in 2015, the Wildcats have won three straight in Tempe, including a seven-point victory last February.

Gonzaga at BYU – 11:00 PM EST – ESPN2

The top team in the West Coast Conference since 2000 remains on that pedestal this season as Gonzaga (19-2 SU, 15-6 ATS) sits atop the league with a perfect 6-0 mark. The Bulldogs have won all six WCC games by 18 points or more, including a 98-39 thrashing of Santa Clara as a 21-point road favorite last Thursday. Gonzaga jumped out to a 53-17 halftime lead and never looked back as six Bulldogs scored in double-figures, led by 18 points from Josh Perkins. The victory snapped a two-game ATS slide as the Bulldogs improved to 4-2 ATS inside the WCC.

The Bulldogs head to Provo for their first meeting with BYU (13-9 SU, 9-13 ATS) since whipping the Cougars in last season’s WCC tournament championship, 74-54. BYU bounced back from a 19-point setback at San Francisco to knock off St. Mary’s at home, 71-66 last Thursday as short underdogs. The Cougars have hit the UNDER in four of the past five games, while avenging a 20-point road loss to the Gaels earlier this month. BYU moved to 10-1 at home on the season, while winning nine of the past 10 home contests against WCC foes with the lone loss coming to Gonzaga last season.

Gonzaga grabbed all three meetings from BYU in 2018, including a 14-point triumph in Provo. BYU has lost seven of the past 10 matchups with Gonzaga, but interestingly enough all three wins came in Spokane. The last time the Cougars beat the Bulldogs at home was back in 2014, while the last victory by BYU in the series occurred in 2017 as hefty 21-point road underdogs.

Conference USA Action

Old Dominion took a trip to Meltdown City on Saturday as the Monarchs (6-3 in C-USA) squandered a 17-point deficit in the final four minutes of regulation in a 74-73 setback at UTSA. The Monarchs not only saw their five-game winning streak end, but ODU slipped to 2-7 ATS in league action. ODU hosts North Texas (6-2 in C-USA) in a battle of two of the top four teams in the league. The Mean Green bounced back from a three-point home loss to UAB by ripping Middle Tennessee, 70-53. UNT is listed as a conference underdog for the first time this season, while posting a 6-1 ATS mark as a C-USA road ‘dog in 2018.

Rice and Charlotte have each struggled of late as both teams have dropped four of their last five games. The Owls (3-5 in C-USA) have hung in their past three setbacks to UTEP, North Texas, and UAB as Rice lost by a total of five points in those defeats. Charlotte (2-7 in C-USA) has been a beast from an ATS perspective by covering in seven of the past eight contests, including in four straight home games. Rice captured the only meeting last season in a 73-64 victory as a 1 ½-point home underdog.

Both Southern Mississippi and FIU sit in the middle of the conference standings as the teams meet in Miami. The Golden Eagles (4-5 in C-USA) are coming off a demolishing effort against Marshall by handing the Thundering Herd a 50-point defeat last Saturday. Southern Miss has taken care of its business at home in conference play by going 4-1, but is 0-4 away from Hattiesburg. FIU (4-4 in C-USA) has alternated wins and losses in league action after losing by 17 points at home to rival FAU. The Panthers are 1-2 at home in C-USA play, while splitting two meetings with Southern Miss last season.

Louisiana Tech has been tremendous at home (12-0), but has slumped to a 3-7 record away from Ruston. The Bulldogs (5-4 in C-USA) head to Boca Raton to face FAU (3-5 in C-USA), as the Owls snapped a four-game skid by routing FIU last Saturday. Louisiana Tech is coming off a pair of impressive home wins over Marshall and Western Kentucky, but the Bulldogs own an 0-4 road record in C-USA play, including two losses as an away favorite.

Marshall jumped out to an impressive 5-0 record in C-USA play, but the Thundering Herd (5-3 in C-USA) has lost three straight games. The Herd played one of its worst games in program history in last Saturday’s 101-51 drubbing at Southern Miss as Marshall shot 25% from the floor. Marshall hosts UTEP (2-6 in C-USA), as the Miners ended a three-game losing streak in a four-point victory over Charlotte. UTEP failed to cover as five-point favorites, dropping its ATS mark to 1-7, which includes an 0-3 ATS ledger away from El Paso.

UTSA pulled off the comeback of the season by shocking Old Dominion last Saturday by ending the game on a 22-4 run to edge the Monarchs, 74-73. The Roadrunners (6-2 in C-USA) moved to 5-0 at home in league action, but UTSA will try to end a two-game road skid with a trip to Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers (4-4 in C-USA) bounced back from a three-game losing streak to win three consecutive contests prior to a 12-point setback at Louisiana Tech. WKU is riding a six-game UNDER streak, including three straight UNDERS at home.

Fly Guys Flying High
The Philadelphia Flyers head into Thursday's road game against the Boston Bruins with a season-high five-game winning streak. They have ticked off four straight victories against teams with a winning record record, but this will be their biggest test yet. The Flyers are still just 3-10 over their past 13 games on the road, and they're 2-6 in the past eight in the third game of a 3-in-4 (three games in four days) situation. They'll catch the Bruins at a good time, as they're 1-4 in the past five games overall while going 0-6 in the past six against teams from the Metropolitan Division. The Flyers are a dismal 2-12 in their past 14 treks to Beantown, and they're 8-22 in the past 30 against the B's. The home team has cashed in four straight, too.

Calgary...On Fire
The Calgary Flames have fired to the top of the Pacific Division with an 8-1-2 mark across the past 11 outings, although they certainly haven't done it with a lot of attention. The Flames have posted a 15-4-5 mark at home this season, but they're a respectable 15-9-0 in 24 outings away from home to lead the Western Conference in road victories. Their plus-39 goal differential is also good for second in the NHL behind only the Tampa Bay Lightning (plus-58). The Flames face the Detroit Red Wings at home on Friday, and have a quick turnaround in Edmonton on Saturday night. Head coach Bill Peters will also face his former employer, the Carolina Hurricanes, in a pair of games on Tuesday, Jan. 22 in Calgary, and Sunday, Feb. 3 in Raleigh.

Looking Ahead

Thursday, Jan. 31

N.Y. Rangers-New Jersey: The Rangers hit the tunnel for Newark to battle the Devils. The only thing in their favor is a 4-0 record over the past four playing on a day of rest. They're just 16-37 in their past 53 games dating back to last season and they're 2-5 in the past seven against teams with a losing record. The Devils have not exactly lit the world on fire. They're 6-1 in the past seven against losing teams, but just 3-7 in the past 10 against Metropolitan Division games and 5-12 in the past 17 tries against Eastern Conference foes. The Rangers are just 1-5 in the past six trips to New Jersey, and 1-4 in the past five against the Devils overall. The 'over' is also 6-0-2 in the past eight meetings in Newark, and 5-1-3 in the past nine overall.

Columbus-Winnipeg: Both the Blue Jackets and Jets have some decent trends in their favor. Columbus is 5-1 in the past six against the Central Division, and they're 5-0 in the past five working on a day of rest. However, they are also 3-7 in the past 10 against a team with a winning record. Winnipeg has picked up a victory in five of the past seven, and they're 7-3 in their past 10 tries against Metropolitan Division foes. They're also 4-0 in the past four against winning teams. More importantly, the Jets are not exhausted, and, in fact, they get stronger as the games are bunched together. Winnipeg is 16-5 in the past 21 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation.

Friday, Feb. 1

Tampa Bay-N.Y. Islanders: When the Islanders lost John Tavares in the offseason free agency sweepstakes to the Toronto Maple Leafs, many figured the Isles would be a lower-division team failing to find much in the way of success. However, that hasn't been the case, as they're sitting atop the difficult Metropolitan Division, although they are just four points from fourth place in the division, too. In any event, this is a battle between the two first-place teams in the Eastern Conference.

The last time the Islanders host the Lightning, they pounded them by a 5-1 score on Jan. 13, a rare lopsided loss for Tampa this season. In the first meeting, the Lightning won at home by a 5-2 score back on Nov. 8 behind All-Star Andrei Vasilevskiy. The first meeting was a push on the total, while the second had a number of 6 1/2 goals, so it cashed 'under'.

Calgary-Washington: The defending champion Capitals are on a seven-game slide (0-5-2), and they'll look to get back on track against the Calgary Flames. The Caps are suffering through their longest skid since the 2013-14, which is the last time they missed the playoffs. Goaltending, defense and a lack of timely goals has been the problem with the Caps, as they have been doubled up 36-18 during the slide. Facing the first-place Flames isn't likely a cure for their ills. Calgary is 8-0-1 across the past 10, as David Rittich and Mike Smith have each protected the cage well. The Flames have also scored three or more goals in 12 consecutive outings dating back to Dec. 29.

Minnesota-Dallas: The Stars are having difficulty on the offensive end, averaging just 1.56 goals across the past nine outings. They were just above that average last time they met the Wild, winning 2-1 in overtime back on Dec. 22 in St. Paul. The Stars dropped the first meeting at home back on Oct. 19 by a 3-1 score. The 'under' has connected in each of the first two meetings, and is 7-0-2 over the past nine, and 11-2-2 across the past 15 games for the Stars.

Saturday, Feb. 2

Montreal-New Jersey: The Canadiens and Devils will meet in matinee action on Sunday. The first meeting didn't end well for the Habs in New Jersey, as the Devils came away with a 5-2 victory behind Keith Kinkaid. Montreal hasn't won in New Jersey since Feb. 27, 2017, and the Habs haven't beaten the Canadiens in regulation since Jan. 20, 2017. The 'under' is 7-3 over the past 10 games heading into their game on Thursday against the Rangers, so remember that angle on Saturday afternoon, too.

Pittsburgh-Toronto: The Penguins will have revenge on their minds when they roll into ScotiaBank Arena in Toronto looking to repay the Leafs. Toronto throttled Pittsburgh 5-0 in the Steel City in the most recent meeting on Nov. 3, as Frederik Andersen shut down the high-powered Pens offense. In fact, both meetings this season have resulted in shutouts, as Matt Murray blanked the Leafs in Toronto in the first meeting on Oct. 18.

Arizona-San Jose: The Coyotes and Sharks will do battle, and San Jose knows that Arizona isn't a pushover anymore. San Jose went down to Arizona and got doubled up by a 6-3 score on Jan. 16 behind backup goalie Aaron Dell. The Sharks also feel flat in the most recent home meeting with the Coyotes back on Dec. 23, a 4-3 win in a shootout by the Dogs. The Sharks managed a 5-3 win in the first mertings on Dec. 8. All three battles this season have resulted in an 'over' result.

Sunday, Feb. 3

Boston-Washington: The Bruins and Capitals will take place in the undercard for New England sports fans on Super Bowl Sunday. Fans of the black and gold hope this nationally-televised game goes better than the last meeting in Beantown, when the Caps came away with a 4-2 win on Jan. 10 behind Braden Holtby. Washington also won 7-0 in the opener back on Oct. 3, as the 'over' was 1-0-1 in the first two meetings.

For the Capitals, they're facing a team they have pushed around for years. The Caps have won a whopping 14 straight meetings against the Bruins dating back to March 29, 2014 with the 'over' going 3-0-1 in the past four meetings, and 5-2-1 in the past eight.

ODU -4.5
ODU is off a long road trip and bad loss at UTEP. I expect they will play well at home vs. a solid North Texas team that is a long way from home. BJ Stith, Xavier Green and Ahmed Caver should play well. Coach Jeff Jones should have his team playing solid defense at home in front of 6000 people at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

NCAA-B | Fairfield vs Manhattan
Play on: Fairfield -3 -109 at GTBets

1* Free NCAAB Pick on Fairfield Stags -3
Love the value here with the Stags laying a short number on the road against Manhattan. These might seem like two evenly matched teams. Fairfield is just 6-15 overall and 3-6 in conference play, while the Jaspers are 4-16 and 2-6 in league action. The thing is there's quite the gap in talent here.
The easiest way to see that is just look at the point differential in league games. Fairfield is only getting outscored by 0.9 ppg, while Manhattan is getting outscored by 8.1 ppg. You also have the Stags averaging 70.8 ppg in conference play, while the Jaspers are averaging a mere 56.5 ppg.
Note in their last home game they were a 1-point dog to Marist and got annihilated 62-46. Jaspers are 7-3 ATS last 10 road games vs a team with a losing home record and 21-8-1 ATS last 30 road games following three straight at home. Take Fairfield!

NBA | Pacers vs Magic
Play on: Magic -3 -109 at GTBets

Indiana suffered a terrible loss with Victor Oladipo out for the season but even without him, the Pacers are still probably better than the Magic. The Problem is Tyreke Evans is also doubtful with a bad back that he suffered in a car accident. With Evans out or even playing at less than 100 percent, the Pacers don't have much firepower with G league call up Edmond Sumner starting. Sumner has shot a combined 3 for 17 in the last 2 games and has looked overwhelmed. Orlando will get the victory and the cover. The Pick: Take Orlando

NBA | Mavs vs Pistons
Play on: Mavs +2½ -105 at pinnacle

#NBA FREE PICK FROM MIKE LUNDIN
The Detroit Pistons have won just one of their last five games, a stretch that includes a 106-101 loss at Dallas on Jan 25. The Pistons get a chance to avenge that defeat in front of the home fans when hosting the Mavs here Thursday night, but the visitors most definitely won't give up without a fight.
The Mavs have built up momentum by winning three of their last four (only setback a 3-point loss to Toronto) while covering the spread in four of their last five games (one push).
They've played their best basketball at home but have started to find their ways on the road lately and are 4-1 ATS in their last five away from home. The Pistons are just barely above .500 home at Little Caesars Arena and 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
Dallas is 20-10 ATS as an underdog on the season and could very well steal this one outright.
1* Free Pick on Dallas Mavericks.

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NHL Game #7 Thursday Free Pick New York Rangers Money Line (+) @ New Jersey Devils @ 7:05 ET - This a rivalry match-up and I love looking for dogs in games like these and this one sets up perfectly. The Rangers are off a tight 1-0 loss while the Devils are off a huge 6-3 upset win. Note that prior to New York losing to the Flyers, the Rangers had won 3 straight games and 4 of their last 5. As for New Jersey, prior to upsetting the Penguins, the Devils had lost 3 straight games and 6 of their last 8. The Devils are 4-10 the last 14 times they've entered a game off a loss. Also, the Rangers are seeking revenge here as they've lost each of their last two games against New Jersey. The road dog is the value play here. Free Pick NEW YORK RANGERS

NCAA-B | UTEP vs Marshall
Play on: Marshall -9½ -109 at GTBets

Marshall has lost three straight and is coming off a 50 point loss at Southern Miss in which they allowed their opponent to shoot 64.6% from the field while shooting just 25% themselves. You probably couldn't get the Thundering Herd any lower then they are now. At home this team is a completely different story with five double digit wins. Jon Elmore and C.J. Burks are a really good duo who should be able to get whatever they want. UTEP is 7-12 on the year and has lost six of their last eight. The Miners have not won on the road yet this year with four double digit losses. Their offense has scored over 70 just once in 2019 so they may not be able to take advantage of Marshall's leaky D. I think we get a huge blowout in this one.

Play on: Connecticut +7½ -109 at GTBets

10* FREE NCAAB PICK (UConn +7.5)
I'll gladly take my chances with UConn at this price. I just feel the Knights are overvalued right now, which stems from all the hype around this team coming into the season. While UCF is 5-2 in conference play, we just saw them lose by 20 at Memphis and last time they were at home they barely pulled out a 64-62 win over Tulsa as a 10-point favorite.
I get that the Knights are 10-1 at home and the Huskies are just 1-6 away from home, but we don't need UConn to win. We just need them to make a game of it. While they are 0-3 on the road in AAC play, all 3 losses have come by 8-points or less, including a mere 2-point loss at Cincinnati as a 11.5-point dog.
Huskies also come into this game off two outstanding performances. First it was a 16-point win at home against Tulane and then a 20-point victory at home against Wichita State. UConn is 11-3 ATS over the last 3 season off a home conference win. UCF just 1-4-1 ATS last 6 at home and 1-3-1 last 5 vs a team with a winning record. Give me the Huskies +7.5

My money is on the Lions to cash in an easy win and cover here at home against the Tigers. This is just too good a price to pass up on Loyola-Marymount at home, where they are 9-1 this season, especially when you factor in that Pacific is not a great road team. Tigers just 1-4 ATS last 5 on the road and are 4-10 ATS last 14 on the road after playing 3 straight at home. Bet Loyola-Marymount -5.5!

NBA | 76ers vs Warriors
Play on: 76ers +9½ -105 at Bovada

Given that they are healthy with Joel Embiid and Jimmy Butler back in the lineup, this may be the most points the 76ers receive the rest of the season. I understand the Warriors are showing signs of reaching peak efficiency having won 11 in a row. But this is a lot of points for a good team to be receiving in what shapes up as a flat spot for the Warriors. Philadelphia is 33-18. The 76ers have looked good in six of their last seven games burying the Timberwolves by 42 points, the Pacers by 24 on the road when Indiana still had Victor Oladipo, losing to the Thunder by two, beating the Rockets by 28 followed by a victory against the Spurs. The 76ers were blown out two games ago by the Nuggets on the road before defeating the Lakers by 16 points in LA two days ago. The 76ers have something to prove in this matchup. Golden State doesn't. The Warriors enter their first home game in two weeks fat and happy having just completed a 5-0 road trip. The Warriors often are overpriced at Oracle Arena. They are just 3-9-1 ATS during their last 13 home contests. Following this matchup, the Warriors host the Lakers on Saturday in a nationally televised (ABC) game with LA expected to have LeBron James back. So this also is a look-ahead spot for Golden State. (Editor's note: Stephen Nover is one of the top NBA handicappers in the country and he's proving that again this season going 33-17-1 on his last 51 premium/free NBA plays, including 9-3-1 on his last 13 plays. Stephen has his Friday Dominator going today in addition to this free selection.)

The Los Angeles Lakers remain without LeBron James and continue to play poorly without him. They’re also without Lonzo Ball and could be without Kyle Kuzma again tonight. The Lakers are just 1-4 in their last five games overall with their lone win coming at home against the worst team in the Western Conference in Phoenix. Each of the Lakers’ last three losses have come by 15 points or more. The Clippers are on two days’ rest and have gone 3-1 SU & 3-1 ATS in their last four games overall with their only loss coming on the second of a back-to-back. The Clippers are 7-1 SU & 6-2 ATS in their last eight meetings with the Lakers. Give me the Clippers.

NBA | 76ers vs Warriors
Play on: 76ers +10 -110 at Bovada

Jack’s Free Pick Thursday: Philadelphia 76ers +10
The Golden State Warriors are now getting a ton of respect from oddsmakers after winning 11 straight and going 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall. They should not be laying 10 points to the Philadelphia 76ers, who are more than capable of hanging with the Warriors for four quarters.
The 76ers are playing some great basketball of their own here since the turn of the calendar year. They are 10-4 SU in their last 14 games overall dating back to January 1st. And this is despite battling through injuries, but the 76ers are now fully healthy with Butler, Simmons and Embiid all expected to play tonight. They are 15-6 this season when those three plus Redick and Chandler play.
The Warriors are coming off a tough five-game road trip that started in Los Angeles and ended in Washington, Boston and Indiana. They’ve been doing a lot of traveling, and I always look to fade teams who are in their first home game back following an extended road trip. And the Warriors are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games off a road trip of 7 or more days.
Philadelphia is 29-11 ATS off two consecutive non-conference games over the last three seasons. The 76ers are 22-8 ATS in their last 30 vs. NBA Pacific Division opponents. The Warriors are 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 home games. Golden State is 1-7 ATS in its last eight Thursday games. Philadelphia is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings. Bet the 76ers Thursday.

1* on BYU +14.5
The Key: Oddsmakers are now giving Gonzaga too much respect after their 19-2 SU & 15-6 ATS start to the season. The betting public just keeps laying the big numbers with them and winning. But this line tonight has been adjusted too much. BYU is 10-1 SU & 7-4 ATS at home this season and winning by 15.2 PPG. The Cougars upset St. Mary’s at home lsat time out and are now ready to give the Bulldogs a run for their money. BYU is 27-9 ATS in its lsat 36 home games off a win by 6 points or less. BYU is 15-5 ATS in its last 20 home games against up-tempo teams that average 62 or more shots per game. The Cougars are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games overall. Take BYU.
