Talk about revenge in the making Saturday night in Reno, Nevada! Early January the Nevada Wolf Pack went to the Pit in New Mexico and lost badly to the New Mexico Lobos 85-58. Since that loss the Wolf Pack has rung off 8-Straight wins and 6 of those wins the game went 'Over' the total. The Lobos won their last game at home beating SDSU 83-70 and the Lobos last 2-games both of them went 'Over' the total. The headline should read: "Anaheim are 'Sitting Ducks' in Philadelphia Today"-- okay I couldn't resist that one, but in reality it is very rare to see a team like the Flyers, who are barely over .500 in the standings, favored in the -250 range against anyone. This speaks to the level of mediocrity the Ducks have sunk to, and the reality is the Ducks are going to get blown out this afternoon. One must feel very bad for Anaheim goalie John Gibson who is a fine net-minder but has been relegated to a "street hockey" goalie who gives up 7-8 goals in a neighborhood game. Losing their last to Ottawa 4-0 might have seemed the bottom, but I think the bottom is still a bit away. Take the -1.5, it matters not...I like sure things and Philly is just that to win today.

The country is buzzing at the prospect of this game, on a Saturday night in prime time, in Montreal, on Hockey Night in Canada, between these storied rivals. For the first time in a long, long while, both teams are legitimate contenders for Lord Stanley's Cup and the strong chance of meeting in the playoffs makes this preview game an important one. Toronto is still suffering from the "Blue Flu"; readers may cry foul at my claim, but the evidence is overwhelmingly in my favor. The Leafs are 7-7 since New Years Day and have lost to Detroit, Arizona, Florida and Colorado during that span. Their recent three-game winning streak featured victories against Anaheim (2-8 last 10) and Ottawa (2-6 entering the Leaf game), which indicates a very weak, recent schedule. Montreal is 10-5 since Jan. 1 and the return of Captain Shea Weber, and they should be able to give Toronto all they can handle in front of 15 million views on the CBC tonight. Habs for the WIN at home.

Seriously, this spread is deserved because Wofford is just so much better than Western Carolina, but the Terriers are coming off a big win over East Tennessee State on Thursday night, and now they're playing the lowly Catamounts, and a natural letdown isn't out of line here.

This is a spread based more on each team's overall record than the reality of the situation. Drake is 17-7 overall, but it's only 6-5 in the MVC. Northern Iowa, meanwhile, is 10-14 overall and 5-6 in the MVC. It also beat Drake at home earlier this season 57-54. The concern is a Northern Iowa defense that can get quite leaky at times, but Drake's offense is prone to turning the ball over. Also, if it's worth anything to you, according to KenPom's Luck metric, Drake has been one of the 15 "luckiest" teams in the country this season. A lot of that luck has been opponents missing free throws. Northern's an excellent free throw shooting team, and luck tends to balance out.

Tennessee won the season's first meeting between these two 78-67 in Gainesville, and now the Vols are 11-point favorites in Knoxville. And I think that spread is still a bit too much. Florida's offense was horrific in that first meeting, shooting only 35% from the floor, and still managed to hang within 11 even though Tennessee shot 53%. The Vols had plenty to do with Florida's shooting woes, but Florida's a better defensive team than it played like in that first meeting, and it will look to slow the pace of this game down as much as possible.

Arizona St is the second best team in the PAC 12 this year. I know they just lost on Thursday Night as a 15.5 point favorite to Washington St. What was up with that? Well actually it’s pretty simple Arizona St had beaten their arch rival Arizona the game before and had 1st place and undefeated in conference play Washington on deck. That was the ultimate sandwich spot. Arizona St had their worst game of the year losing by 21 as a 15.5 point favorite. Since 2012 there has only been 12 teams lose at home by 20 or more that was a favorite of 10 or more and played their next game at home as well. All 9 of those teams went on to win their next game SU. Since this line is -1 that’s all we need Arizona St to do is win. We will get a maximum effort from an embarrassed Arizona St team. It also must be noted that this is a late game so that student section in the arena tonight will be rocking after partying all day long. My numbers have Arizona St winning by 6-8 points.
