The public is going strictly off the fact that these two teams had a shootout their last matchup of 166 points. One word: Outlier. Don’t be fooled by the point total in a regular season matchup. Games are life or death, especially for Memphis who is on the bubble. Top tier defense will be played. Take the Under soon before it corrects back closer to the opening line.

This total jutted out to me immediately. Here we have two of the slowest tempo teams in college basketball that happen to be hitting the majority of their Overs in the month of March. This will change. Both teams rank in the top 10 in college basketball for defensive field goal percentage. Not much margin of error to be had so let’s not hope for a foul parade at the end of the game but this game should be a tight high 50’s scoring for both teams.

Dallas comes in off a tough loss to the Nuggets on Thursday, a game in which they went toe to toe with one of the top teams in the West.

While their road play has been rocky, the home play from Dallas has been quite the opposite. Dallas has gone 21-12-1 ATS in this season inside American Airlines Arena and they've gone 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games.

Cleveland comes in off a blowout loss to the Magic, as those are the kinds of performances we have seen from time to time from this young Cavs team.

Some trends to note. Mavericks are 15-7-1 ATS in their last 23 vs. Eastern Conference. Mavericks are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. NBA Central.

Buffalo has the edge here, as this team is just too tough to slow down.

The Bulls dropped 86 on Central Michigan last night, as they just have so many weapons on the floor. They can hit you with a variety of three point shooters as well as a nice inside presence.

Look for them to get out and really run here, pushing Bowling Green back on their heels all night long.

Some trends to note. Bulls are 18-6-2 ATS in their last 26 neutral site games. Falcons are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.

Wisconsin isn't as good as Michigan State especially with the Spartans getting back forward Nick Ward, their second-leading scorer.

The Badgers rely on forward Ethan Happ, who isn't a great shooter. Happ didn't play well in the Badgers' 66-62 victory against Nebraska on Friday scoring just four points and committing seven turnovers. The Spartans will key on Happ.

The Spartans have the best guard on the court in Cassius Winston. The Badgers will try to key on Winston. The Spartans, though, have a secret weapon, freshman point guard Foster Loyer, to keep the pressure off Winston. Loyer played well in the Spartans' opening Big Ten Tournament victory over Ohio State on Friday. The Badgers struggled against the Cornhuskers, a team the Spartans rolled past, 91-76, at home three games ago.

Tom Izzo has Michigan State peaking at the right time again. The Spartans closed the regular season beating Michigan, 75-63, as four-point home favorites a week ago. Wisconsin went up against Michigan on Feb. 9 and lost as seven-point road 'dogs, 61-52.

Michigan State handled Wisconsin in the team's lone meeting this season, winning 67-59 on the road. The Spartans have covered 15 of their last 21 Big Ten games, while the Badgers are 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine Big Ten matchups.

Wisconsin has been one of the Big Ten's hottest teams down the stretch, but the Badgers have likely hit their ceiling. The points have even more value in what should be a physical grinder, but look for the Spartans to pull away again.

This game is being played on Memphis’ home court and I don’t think that is being factored into this line. My ratings favor Houston by just 7 points using half a home court advantage (0 road disadvantage for Houston but 1.6 points home court advantage for Memphis) and Memphis applies to a 137-46-5 ATS strong home court underdog situation that plays on home dogs of 6 points or more with a very good straight up home record over the previous 3 seasons. Memphis is playing better of late (8-2 straight up and 7-3 ATS their last 10 games), as their defensive effort has improved. In fact, Memphis allowed 44.1% over their first 22 games and they’ve given up just 39.1% shooting over their last 11 games. I’ll lean with Memphis at +8 or more.

One of my favorite angles in Conference tournament action is when a Top team has a scare but gets the victory. Villanova was taken to OT yesterday by Xavier before winning by 4. Villanova was -7 so they won but didn’t cover (https://www.wagertalk.com/members/trades#). When this situation occurs it’s usually a great wake up call for the team and they generally deliver a big effort next time out. The Aztecs knocked off No. 1 seed and nationally ranked Nevada 65-56 on Friday night, the team's second victory over the Wolf Pack this season. The game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.

The Aggies may not have any future NBA'ers on their team but they have been the best team in the conference since January. A pair of non-conference losses actually drove this focused group to understanding what it takes to not just win but do so with 40-minutes of focus regardless of the score.

Sam Merrill, who was named MWC Player of the Year, is absolutely relentless, and will be a handful for the Aztecs backcourt tonight. The Aggies have won 15 of their last 16 games. And while they don't need a win tonight to find their way to the "Dance" like SDSU does, it doesn't matter to this team. They will come out of T&M tunnel and will execute with relentless and methodical play and make the Aztecs one dimensional and eventually getting away from their scheme in an attempt to recover from a double-digit deficit.

Head coach Craig Smith doesn't pull any punches with this group of blue collar players.

It is noteworthy to mention that this team expects to win each time they take the floor. They are not intimidated and in their home win over the Nevada Wolf Pack the smaller group of players were attacking during and after the game -- standing tall against a Nevada group that has three sure fire NBA'ers on the roster.

At the beginning of the season, the Utah State men’s basketball team was picked ninth in the Mountain West Conference preseason poll.

What was underestimated by college basketball pundits is how disciplined and studied Smith is as a coach. And that his group of players are not overly gifted, physically, but their basketball IQ is over-the-top. They have been, all things being equal, at times "too smart for their own good."

This is a group of players that many not beat the North Carolina and Duke's of the world of hoops but pit them against a team that won't out jump or run the group and they will brainiac their way to a win. This Utah State troupe is situational savvy. They think the game to an extent that slows down their reactions and prevents them from just playing basketball, but executing a plan.

This Pac-12 late tip event at T-Mobile Arena offers the Oregon Ducks and automatic bid into this year’s "Dance". This Dana A coached crew was the preseason favorite to win the Pac-12 but a post conference schedule injury to Bol Bol prevented the team from being at their best until the final month, late February and early March, when they dominated the league events.
Note that last night's victory over the Arizona State Sun Devils found Oregon winning despite not having their best game offensively, and most notably, the Devils shooting far above their pay grade from beyond the arc.

Washington, which won the regular-season Pac-12 championship by three games -- by default -- due to the league's lack of quality depth. This Washington squad is an offensively challenged group that relies on defense and the three-point shot to succeed.

Oregon, all things being equal, wouldn't finish in the top four of any of the other Power 6 conferences. The Huskies would find the going difficult, as well.

The 2-3 zone that Washington plays will be an issued in the tournament for teams not versed against the zone. The Ducks are well versed against the Huskies defense and have the outside shooters to eventually stretch their offensive side of the court -- get easy looks inside and out... and score 16-plus points in second chance points... this due to a number of offensive rebounds against the U of W zone. The Ducks took down the Huskies to close Washington's home court slate... a 55-47 win on the Huskies Senior Night.

The sixth-seeded Ducks have won seven straight game-- and because of the low seed their third and in three nights.

Washington was outplayed on Friday night, in the first half of their win over the Colorado Buffaloes. The Huskies, found their shooting touch in the second half, opening the second stanza on a 25-5 run and held Colorado to 20 percent shooting, to eventually take down the Buffs in a 66-61...

This Ducks team is the best defense in the Pac-12 and one of the best in all of Division I.

Washington had 13 steals in the win over Colorado, two off the Pac-12 tournament record.

Despite suffering a key injury to Bol Bol this season this Ducks squad has a deep bench which allows them to keep fresh legs despite this being the fourth game in four nights.

In Thursday night's Oregon victory over the best offensive efficiency team in the Pac-12, Utah, Oregon held the Utes to 34 percent shooting, including 2-of-23 from 3-point land. In regulation play on Friday night the Devils scored 67 points, and were as good from beyond the arc as they have during league play.

Since allowing UCLA to score 62 points in the second half of a 90-83 loss on Feb. 23, Oregon hasn't allowed a team to score 62 points in a game, period. save the 67 that ASU notched on Friday night. and that trend continues tonight with a Ducks victory over an overrated Washington squad that is, to write the least, offensively challenged.

Yes, the Ducks went into OT last night but played nine players double-digit minutes, with the understanding that win or lose on Friday night they would have to be dressed and ready-set-go for a Saturday night finale on the Strip.

While the Huskies have played fewer consecutive games to get to the championship event they pushed all-in on Friday night in their comeback victory against the Buffs playing seven players the majority of the minutes. This in an exhausting second half of basketball that the group will feel tonight.
