It's no wonder why this number is like it is with the Packers being decided favorites on the road at a Venue that is one of the toughest at which to come€ out on top, especially in a night contest. Aaron Rodgers is off a near perfect game, the Packers are 6-1 only losing to the Eagles. KC's Wonder Boy is not going to play. But this number is simply NUTS.Have we forgotten that Andy Reid has "Been There, Done That?" Have we forgotten that the Chiefs are one of the best home teams in the NFL? The Pack is 6-1 but the schedule has not been stellar. 5 of their 7 games have been in Green Bay. I am certainly not saying that Green Bay is not a good team. They are. But laying 4 points on the highway at Arrowhead at night is a task that many cannot have success with. You can best best that Andy will have some ideas for offense with Moore at QB, and he is a serviceable replacement as he has proven in the past. Carolina QB Kyle Allen is playing exceptional football and taking care of the ball as well, with seven touchdowns and zero interceptions. Running back Christian McCaffrey is doing it all, and I like the way the Panthers match up against the 49ers defense. The Carolina defense has been tough as well, and the Panthers sack the QB among the best in the NFL. San Francisco QB Jimmy Garoppolo does not like pressure, period. He has just seven touchdown passes and six interceptions on the season. Take the points with the Panthers.

I like fading the undefeated 49ers in this spot, where I think their middle-of-the-road offense will have issues against a Carolina defense that has been stellar all year. It's a bad spot for the 49ers with a road Thursday game up next, while the Panthers are in a great spot as an away team coming off a bye, a trend that has cashed 59.7% of the time since 2011. Christian McCaffrey should have some success against a 49ers defense that's better against the pass than the run, and that'll help them stay in a close game and cover the number.

BIG AL's NFL TOTAL OF THE WEEK (86-49 RUN) -- Sunday

At 1 pm, our selection is on the UNDER in the Atlanta Falcons/Seattle Seahawks game. The defenses for both of these teams have been a sieve. Atlanta's allowed 53, 34 and 37 points in its last three games, while Seattle's given up 29, 28 and 30 points over its last three. The knee-jerk reaction might be to look for another high-scoring game here. But consider that, over the past 40 years, NFL games have gone 'under' the total 62% of the time when each team had given up more than 24 points in each of their three previous games. We saw this same situation a couple of weeks ago in the Giants/Redskins game. New York had given up 31, 28 and 35 points in its three previous games, while Washington's defense had allowed 31, 31 and 32 points. The O/U line in that game was 48 points, but it easily sailed under the total in a 24-3 New York win. I look for a similar outcome in this game on Sunday. Take the Falcons/Seahawks 'under' the total. The Jacksonville defense is good, but the offense can't make teams pay like New England's can. This one will be very close.

The Titans defense has been great but has faced a lot of limited offenses this year, while Jameis Winston and the Bucs have been excellent after a bye over the last four years (averaging 500 yards of offense when you throw out fake Week 1 bye in 2017). The Bucs have played a lot of good teams this year, and they'll win on the road against a mediocre Titans team.

The Bears should be able to run the ball against a banged-up Chargers front that's just 24th in DVOA against the rush. And that means Mitchell Trubisky can manage the game, not have to throw it 50 times and keep his team in front with a positive game script. The Chargers have lost three straight to teams under .500, and they led for just 3:16 in those games combined.

It's last in plays, yards and points per drive as well as last in percentage of drives allowing a score, turnover percentage, third down percentage ... the list goes on and on. Seattle will score its points, and I'm not sure the Falcons can keep up with either a limited Matt Ryan or Matt Schaub, who is 38 and hasn't played much since 2013. With Atlanta trading away players and with the head coach all but certain to be on the way out, this is a great team to fade this week.

This line should have been more like -3.5 to -4 range.

The Lions defense has gotten gashed by the run this year, giving up at least 110 rushing yards in every game and 336 yards combined in their last two. The Giants have a great weapon at RB, of course, which will help keep this game close. The Giants are second to last in fumbles lost on offense, while the Detroit defense has the most recoveries, and that fumble luck should regress at some point. I also think we could land a backdoor cover if needed, especially after the curious trade of Quandre Diggs.

The Giants have covered eight of their last 10 road games, but I’m not messing with the side in this game just because the Giants have so many injury issues. However, the total going Over makes sense, and it’s not just because all three of the Giants' away games have gone Over, or that the Giants lead the NFL with 18 giveaways, giving opponents short fields to work with. No, the main reason is both defenses are terrible, especially Detroit’s which allows 428.7 yards per game. Only the Bengals allow more. Just the Over.

So....the Colts are for real.

I can't back myself up in my terrible plays oppo the Frank Reich machine unneeding of Andrew Luck. At most every turn I have looked for a spot to fade Indy in lieu of the off-season surprise. After last week's full game and defeat of Houston they are on the inside track for the South title.
The Broncos fit the bill for a fantastic spot to defeat KC at home last Thursday with Mahomes gimpy, thr Chefs off 2 bad losses, and the Mile high air on a very short week. The Broncos proceeded to lay an ABSOLUTE egg on offense against a KC defense that ranks far below a standard for such a spot. Indy should be able to really frustrate Flacco and his stagnant offense. Fangio has had closer to 10 days to exemplify his defense in preparation for the Brisset led Colts

When a team losses like the Jets did on MNF you know the general public is going to bet against them the next week. What were the Jets doing allowing Sam Darnold to be mic’d up in that game? “I am seeing ghost” is going to stick with him for his entire career. Lost in the shuffle is the fact the Jets have a good defense and are really good against the run. The Jaguars don’t have much of a passing game today with both tight ends out in this game and Dede Westbrook iffy today. I don’t think Jacksonville should be big favorites like they are today. The Jets should run the ball a lot with Bell and limit Darnold from making dumb costly plays. I think this will be a very slow paced game that favors the underdog. Jacksonville is just not good enough to be big favorites. Take the Jets.

The Eagles lost a few guys on the defensive line and this year the injury bug has hit them hard in the middle of their defense and in the secondary. Today’s game is going to very windy so the elements are taking Carson Wentz right out of this game for Philly. Buffalo loves to run the ball and the conditions favor them at home. This Eagles team is a mess right now as they can’t protect the football, can’t stop anyone on defense and are having internal issues in the locker room. The Bills have a great defense that is excellent at covering tight ends. Philly lives by finding the tight ends. This Buffalo team is tough and I don’t think the Eagles will be able to match the intensity on the road. Take the Bills.

The Broncos struggles on offense are not a secret. I don’t trust Joe Flacco and I don’t trust the passing game. This team has good running backs, but no receiver scares me. Emmanuel Sanders, who was just traded, was the only threat and now defenses don’t have to double team him. This is a tough surface and building to play in. Indy has a great offensive line that is protecting Jacoby Brissett. This unit just does not give up sacks. TY Hilton can always burn a defense deep. Denver just does not have playmakers that will be able to keep pace in a four quarter game on the road. Take the Colts.
